Little Lanka in Stockport

Be aware that Sri Lankan food is very spicy! I visited with mother & aunt, they both ordered the Marissa Chillie Chicken and found the chilli far too hot for them, the head waiter very kindly had the staff remake it with cooler chille. I found the nasi goreng lovely & would heartily recommend it. Friendly staff, fairly quiet atmosphere with Sri Lankan music in the background

Fabulous food, great service, really friendly and helpful staff

Three of us dined here on a quiet Thursday night and were treated to gloriously-spiced food which was described and explained very helpfully by Innocent, the Maître d’. We were all able to make excellent choices, and I had Mixed Vegetable Roti to start, which was spiced vegetables deliciously wrapped in pastry, with two dipping chutneys; my main meal was the Devilled Vegan Chicken with fried rice—an authentic, spicey Sri Lankan dish which was INDEED well-spiced, but not too hot. I like things on the hot side anyway, so this was perfect. Innocent gave good advice on how this was cooked and spiced, and his friendly suggestions were excellent. To accompany I chose ‘Lion’ a Sri Lankan bottled beer which went very well with the food—thoroughly recommended, and actually much nicer than the other Asian beers on offer. Throughout we were very well-looked after by Innocent, who was interested in our experience and politely conversational the whole time. Altogether this visit was so tasty, enjoyable and good value—I would give it 5 stars and recommend it to anyone who likes spicy Asian food but who wants to try something authentically Sri Lankan instead of the usual curries served in most Indian restaurants. To sum it all up—the Little Lanka has been a precious discovery!

It was our first time trying Sri Lankan food and we look forward to trying their monthly Sunday buffet with family and friends! A great gem along the A6. Absolutely brilliant! Came here a few years ago when I lived in London and now I’ve moved back up here I needed to come back! Food was amazing and the service was very friendly and they obviously care about the place and the cuisine. Will be back soon , thank you

I went to Little Lanka restaurant with friends for my birthday. It was all round a fantastic night. The food was amazing, with lots of vegan options to choose from. Our host, Innocent, was really helpful and friendly and went out of his way to make us feel welcome. We never felt rushed and stayed there all night. 😀 Many thanks.

Excellent service and wonderful food. The dips and chutneys get me back every time but then the vadai arrive and you just want to barge in the kitchen to hug the kitchen staff. Fantastic range of vegetable, fruit and meat curries. Fantastic stuff

So glad my partner and I chose to visit Little Lanka whilst on holiday in the UK. We come from Australia where Sri lankan cuisine is commonplace and we were so pleased to find authentic flavours and top notch service here at Little Lanka. The waiter, Innocent, made us at home from the start, recommending the poppadoms as an appetiser. The chilli sauce that comes with the poppadoms was fantastic. We also ordered the hoppers and lamb badum start, a great combo! Innocent recommended a mint/coriander sauce to complement the lamb which really worked well. We chose devilled dishes for mains and were not disappointed with the flavours and portion size! Highly recommend for sri-lankan lovers and first-timers alike!

Really enjoyed our meal here. As novices to Sri Lankan cuisine we were happy to receive recommendations and were impressed with the stylish and generous presentation of the dishes from friendly and attentive staff. We will return!

This was our first visit for a family meal and what a fantastic meal it was. Innocent guided us through the menu and we had a selection of starters and mains. The food was delicious lots of flavour and beautifully presented. We loved the hopper starter, chicken lollipops, the curries and roti and Chicken Lamprice and Idiyappa Koththu. The service was friendly and knowledgeable and food outstanding. Thanks for making the evening special.

We visited for our daughter's birthday. We were welcomed with a smile. Everything we ordered we were told what it was as I had never had Sri Lankan food before. The food was amazing. We ordered everything vegan. We will be back again

No apology, but after the call we did get an acknowledgement email, and 13 minutes later a dispatch notification. As I was writing this a received a call saying it would arrive soon. 10 minutes later the driver called unable to find the door and I had to talk him through putting the house number into the entryphone. 2 hours from putting the order in it finally arrived. Little Lanka, this is totally unacceptable, and not being able to contact the restaurant is shocking. We also tried emailing before ordering with a query and their email didn't work- it returned undelivered. At this point the quality of the food doesn't matter. As good as it was- and it was excellent- I can't recommend any place that is so very bad at providing actual service. Upon delivery was given free mutton rolls, which was completely inappropriate given that our order was for 2 vegetarian meals.

Me and my Girlfriend visited here a couple of weeks ago and were blown away. Patience, the waiter was really friendly, happy and told us all about the food we were eating. We went to Sri Lanka at the start of the year and ate Sri Lankan meals everyday but our meal at Little Lanka was probably better than all of them! Definitely reccomend the Cod Curry. 🐠

Spot on. The food, the service. Was way above expectation. So much flavours. A must to go to. The host was amazing and very friendly.

1st time we've tried Sri Lankan food since we got back from their in April. This place did not disappoint. We tried the buffet and was amazed to see all the dishes we tried when went and they were all amazing. The buffet allows you to try a mass array of starters, mains and desserts. The staff including Innocent couldn't do enough for you and this added to our experience. All in all a wonderful Sunday, well spent. Keep up the great work guys. We will definitely be back! 🇱🇰

Had the Sunday buffet which is on the last Sunday of the month. Everything about the visit was excellent. The surroundings, the staff and the food was great. The food was really nice with a great selection. Would definitely go back.

The best service we've experienced so far. Amazing food, felt like it was home cooked - very authentic. Chef was very welcoming - opened the doors for us at 2pm instead of 4pm. Offered complimentary drinks to my kids and some other dishes to try out. Definitely worth a 2nd visit.

Impromptu Wednesday evening meal out, I booked a couple of hours before and that was no problem (although they said they get very busy especially at weekends). The waiter was really welcoming and didn’t hesitate to explain all the dishes to us and when my husband said he didn’t want anything too spicy they were happy to tone down the spice in the dish he’d chosen. The food was really tasty and fresh, the atmosphere was nice with Sti Lankan (I presume) music playing in the background. If you like lager, give the Sri Lankan lager a try, it was light and refreshing. I would definitely give the restaurant a whirl if you're in the area, you wont be disappointed.

First time at Little Lanka. We visited based on the reviews and weren’t disappointed. Innocent gave us a very warm welcome. The chicken lollipops were recommended and were tasty with a nice warm spice. The Ceylon prawns a great accompaniment. The mains were highly spiced and the lamb devil not for the faint- hearted. The Idiyappa Koththu is a must. Dry noodles with a rich curry sauce. If you’re looking for somewhere new the service and food here will not disappoint. Thanks Innocent and team for a great Saturday evening.

Friday night, girly catch up. 17.30 meet up, place was empty but got busier later. Drinks were priced well. They had lots of vegetarian option, my friend had the paneer curry, she didn't eat it as the paneer was not cooked. I ordered a coconut roti. It came out looking like an uncooked quorn burger, but I gave it a go. Instead of a mild bread, I got scotch bonnet pepper pieces. Even my friend who likes spicy, had one bite and refused to eat it. We got an apology and not charged as this had been a mistake. The garlic bread and the side dish of yellow potato curry (not even on the menu) we're the best things. I had chicken mild curry, it was thigh meat and wasn't great, its not like me to leave food. The presentation was fantastic. I just wish the food tasted as good as it looked. Pudding, chocolate fudge cake, and ice cream, thank the heavens for this as I was hungry. I hate to slate a small independent business, but I have to be honest in all my reviews. To improve the menu, I would have better descriptions of the dishes. Some people won't touch thigh or leg meat of chicken. 3 of us all agreed we wouldn't come back, that's never happened, one of us at least likes the places we visit on a monthly catch ups.

Truly authentic taste of Sri Lanka, Jackfruit Lump Rice was so tasty. Good portions, highly recommended.

We were searching for good restaurant in Stockport and Little Lankanhad good reviews and food also looked good. So we decided to come for dinner on Saturday evening. Interiors were decorated quite interesting with Sri Lankan art form and quite colourful and bright decor. For starters we had mutton rolls ,vada and hopper. Main course deviled paneer, nasi goreng, chilli chicken with rice, chicken idiyappam kothu and chicken lamp rice.Drinks we had necto( which was too sweet for me, not to my liking). Food was good, I liked the fact that they maintained spiciness and tasted authentic. Good decent quantity and quite filling. Recommend mutton rolls, idiyappam kothu and lamp rice. Staff was very friendly and warm. Will come again to try the other dishes.

Amazing! I’d heard about little Lanka online and wanted to try it, we were not disappointed. I went with my brother and son about 8:30 on Sunday, it wasn’t overly busy. Not having eaten Sri Lankan food we didn’t know what to order. The manager was excellent and extremely helpful, we asked him to choose three dishes for us. I can’t remember the names now but all were amazing, tasty and plenty of it. We also ordered lees chips, which we didn’t need as there was a huge amount of food. Will definitely return

This restaurant makes with ajinomoto for foods. Thats not good for our healths i told for people must be attention. He is not hotel school experienced chef. That is your choice. Damma. Check hies fridge. If you look at the fridge its bad.

Found it on TripAdvisor as best place to eat in stockport, thought why not. My my, it did not disappoint. Incredible friendly staff, haven't eaten meat that well cooked in a while, feels authentic to Sri Lanka. Looking forward to revisiting

Fantastic restaurant. We've been several times, the first before we visited Sri Lanka to try some authentic dishes. The friendly staff are always happy to give advice and recommendations and cook the food to your particular taste. Always excellent.

Ate at Little Lanka this past week, and we were very impressed. All dishes were delicious (highly recommend the poppers & chicken devil,) service was welcoming & friendly, will visit again!

Birthday dinner here last week. We all had egg hoppers for starters- very generous portions. Took us back to Sri Lanka where we used to have these for breakfast. Mains were lentil and spinach curry ( I opted to have the string hoppers and coconut sambal instead of boiled rice) it was delicious, really light and fragrant. Other mains were Marissa Chillie Chicken with boiled rice- tasted great- had a bit of a kick to it too. Lamb roti Koththu - again a generous portion. Lamb lovely and moist and tender, great flavour. Innocent? Who was front of house was an absolute gem, really friendly and helpful. We'll definitely be back.

This was my first experience at Little Lanka and will be the first of many more. I reckon I had the best meal in a long time. The food is just gorgeous and there is a particular sauce unique to this restaurant which is to die for. Staff are very attentive and welcoming. I will be booking my next visit very soon. Really chuffed I’ve found this place.

Little Lanka catered our wedding this weekend and we were over the moon with everything. We are long-time fans of the restaurant so were really keen on having their food at our wedding. It was a big even with about 150 guests in a tipi, and many people hadn't tried Sri Lankan food before. In the months leading up to the wedding we worked with Thil to try loads of dishes and figure out our menu. We ended up going for short eats as canapes, then a buffet style main meal with a really wide variety of dishes. The food was all freshly made and hot which must have been a challenge given the amount of guests we had. Our friends and family absolutely loved the food and those local to Manchester will be visiting the restaurant soon we're sure! Also we really appreciated that various gluten free/vegan/dairy free diets were all catered for so our guests could all enjoy the deliciousness! Thanks so much to Thil, his dad who cooked the delicious food, and the rest of the team who helped out on the day. The food was such an important part of the event and we couldn't have been happier with it. Thanks ☺️☺️

Little Lanka catered our baby’s first birthday party and the food was absolutely superb! We got so many compliments and we were so pleased with the variety of dishes and value for money. They were super organised and very creative with the menu. Couldn’t recommend more.

Friendly, good food, just the job. Love going back to the Lanka, not the biggest menu but be always good quality. The Lion is a good drink coming in 630ml (just over a pint) bottles.

I placed an order online for delivery (website says delivery is available Sunday-Thursday), but the owner called to say we would have to collect which was a little inconvenient but we agreed. When we got the order home the curry sauce for the veg koththu was missing. I called the restaurant to let them know and the owner spoke to me like I was stupid, and tried to say that whilst the menu says the koththu comes with curry sauce, and that this is standard with koththu when you eat inside the restaurant, you have to specifically ask for the curry sauce if you are ordering online. This was a blatant lie, as the chicken koththu came with the curry sauce as it should, as it says on the online order menu. I can’t believe the owner would try to fob me off rather than apologise and refund the dish. You just lost a customer for this.

We went here tonight to celebrate my Birthday and wow, what a fantastic meal we had! I’m a vegetarian and the veggie options were brilliant, and everything we had was delicious! I really recommend the pineapple curry and the egg hopper to start! But the best part of the night was our fantastic host, Innocent, who offered us the absolute best service, with lots of suggestions and recommendations, and even brought out a dessert with a candle in it and sang Happy Birthday to me! I’ve never really had Sri Lankan food before and it was a truly fun and exciting experience to try something new. I’m so proud we have this wonderful place on our doorstop in Stockport and I can’t recommend it more!

Beautifully presented food and the taste lives up to the same expectations as your eyes suggest. Although some of the food can be very hot and spicy they can adjust it to suit your palette. Staff are lovely and relaxed.

Popped into Little Lanka earlier today. Really liked the new(ish) menu. Especially the curry section with a choice of multiple Sri Lankan curries which come with a veggie curry side and either boiled rice or string hoppers + pol sambol. I had veggie (gluten) chicken curry with rice and my wife the Colombo chicken (on the bone) curry with string hoppers. Our veggie side curry was parippu. Really delicious and the portion size was just perfect!

What a find! I've been recently and returned very quickly as the food was delicious. Really delicately spiced, tasty food with dishes that you wouldn't necessarily find elsewhere. The service is top notch too - really attentive and also willing to recommend dishes that they feel you may enjoy. Shall be returning again - and just found out they do takeaway so they can expect us to become regulars.

Went there on Friday night with a group of girlfriends ( most of us got caught in bad traffic and were late but these beautiful people were so accommodating). The food was simply delicious. I've never had Sri Lankan food outside of Sri Lanka itself and this restaurant does itself proud. Beautiful service & beautiful food. We can't wait to go back.

Fantastic food, relaxing atmosphere, lovely staff! We had a gorgeous dinner here. So many delicious options to choose from including many vegan and veggie options. Lovely little restaurant, very friendly and the food is great.

We had 2 delicious veggie mains that were bursting with flavour, a veggie chicken curry and a jackfruit curry dish wrapped in a banana leaf. My friend also had the mixed nasi goreng which she really enjoyed. The portion sizes were really generous and we can’t wait to return to try the buffet which I believe is on the last Sunday of every month. Innocent, the waiter was so cheerful friendly, efficient and helpful and the restaurant had a lovely relaxed atmosphere

We arrived a little late due to traffic but the restaurant staff were lovely and welcoming. The service was excellent and attentive and food was amazing, something a little different to indian. He explained every dish, offered suggestions and checked we were ok with spice. Drink servings were generous, four courses for four people at £158 is great value for money. We are already planning our next visit!!

If I could leave an infinite star rating this place would get it . Will be eating here every week it’s just that good .

Visited Little Lanka on numerous occasions. As soon as you enter, you will emersed with the authentic Sri Lankan atmosphere. Service here is delightful and cuisine is seraphic. Can't see anybody not enjoying the variety this restaurant has to offer.
