The Med in Thanet

Disappointing meal at The Med. It’s in a great location and we were expecting fresh home cooked Tapas. Unfortunately we were served Iceland style frozen heated food. The meatballs were frozen and reheated, served in a tin of tomatoes only heated so the bitterness wasn’t cooked out. Not a hint of garlic, and oregano tossed on top as to make it appear the slightest attempt was made. Our ham croquettes were also straight from Iceland iisle two. Completed with a dainty toss of rocket to perfect the ala carte experience. The quesadillas were ok. However it was advertised as chicken & chorizo but was in fact pre-packed chicken and pepperoni. Our £21.50 wine was a beautiful £4.50 wine also available from Aldi. Basically this place is a giant turd. The chef has given up and they’re in the business of capturing the tourist trade who pass through. Extremely disappointed

The fish and chips I had was probably the best I ever had, the tartar sauce was amazing, the fish was fresh and juicy, well done.

First visit, very impressed. Friendly staff, good quality food at reasonable cost. Would recommend a visit. Will visit again later for pie Sunday next time. Scrambled egg was delicious

We had the English breakfast this morning and the appearance was perfect on the plate. The food looked really fresh and clean with no burnt or greasy bits and it tasted delicious.

I had lunch yesterday ,the enchiladas and it was absolutely delicious . The setting was lovely ,clean tidy and well presented . The owner was extremely efficient and service with a smile and most helpful . I highly recommend ,very good value 5 stars all round .

I went to the med restaurant last week for a wedding gathering and it was lovely the manager mark was great and made us feel very welcome and the food was great thanks for a lovely experience trish

4 of us there today, for a post Xmas and New Year ladies catch up! The owners are so attentive and caring about every customers' experience in their establishment. Food was excellent. So filling! Phew!..Wine and other drinks always at a reasonable price. There were a couple next to us that had a full English breakfast too.. looked lovely! Recommending to all for a visit when you are in Margate.

I ordered mussels. Upon arrival I saw they were shrivelled up and as hard as stone. Must have been baked or under heat far too long. Totally inedible and were sent back. Replacements were edible but the smallest mussels I have ever seen! My friend ordered nachos and asked for the chilli to be in a separate bowl. That was ignored and it came out all in the same dish. The quesadillas were fine.

A very friendly and welcoming spot to stop by for breakfast! The English and Vegetarian were £7 each, and was a good size for the price. Owner-ran, and they were super lovely and the food was tasy.

We was greeted at the door. The staff could see we was looking at the menu and their friendly invite made us want to go in. The menu had lots of choices. All the staff were super friendly and attentive. The chef even came out and spoke to us which was a really nice touch. The food was amazing and we were very happy with the price we paid 10/10 would highly recommend

Had a bacon sandwich delivered for breakfast this morning, ordered sour dough, was steely looking forward to it, unfortunately however they absolutely drowned the sandwich in melted butter, it was so greasy it made all the bread soggy. Absolutely disgusting, especially with todays knowledge of healthy eating, a good balance is expected not heart attack on a plate. I know they can do much better as have eaten here before. Very disappointing and made me feel sick. Won’t bother again.

Popped in for breakfast and had scrambled egg on toast and coffee . Nice atmosphere in a great location and the eggs were perfect the coffee delicious great service too .. I will definitely return !

First impressions make this place look half bar, half greasy spoon. But boy is the food good. Don't let the plastic menus fool you. The tapas portions are both delicious and generous. Service is friendly. Prices are fair.

We tried to go for breakfast yesturday and missed the cut off for the breakfast menu but the staff were really nice. We went again in time this morning and had the perfecrlt experience, they have oat milk! I got the vege breakfast but am intollerant to eggs so they replaced the egg with an extra hash brown AND gave me complimentary baked beans. Our server Jake was the best he could have been, really friendly and funny and made sure we had everything we needed at all times ♡ plus he saved my partners life when I had a parasole accident - you really must visit and sit out in the courtyard near the sea.

We went to this place last year and was amazing. Came again today as we had such a lovely meal last time. Sat down and ordered, the waiters serving were lovely young lads really polite. As an honest review the food took a long time but we are good with that for the quality of the food but after a while we had to ask. Something went wrong somewhere and after an hour we were told another half an hour with apology or the option to leave. Things happen and we decided to hang on (after a few peronis). Atmosphere was lovely and the service was great so we were happy to wait they offered a discount for our time we said we’d be happy with another drink and to their credit they discounted 50% of our bill which we really did not expect. We thought that was amazing customer service and are so grateful. Food amazing as always.

Food was great and service was impeccable the only problem was the outside manager seemed overrun and was way over the top with the staff that obviously knew what they were doing more than he did Young lad just cleared a table and he flew in saying I need you out here in a sharp tone the lad had been in less than a minute and was visibly upset by this. Way to lose good staff just chill out and let things run get a lot more from your staff that way. Overall good would recommend food and great location

Started raining and didn't let us sit inside just because they're too lazy to clean up after. Clearly not very inviting. Got told I won't get wet by the rain and guess what, I did. Would t recommend going to this place. Avoid at all costs.

In Margate for one night only, and we were pretty hungry by the time we sat down to eat. The menu appealed to us and we thought it would be nice to eat outside watching the sun set. The menu looked pretty good and I was sold on the idea of fresh mussels. Waitress was attentive and friendly, food came out quite quickly. We ordered Garlic olives (completely tasteless! even the clove of garlic in there had zero flavour) and Hummus with deep fried(?) pitta bread to start. The hummus was nice, creamy and tasty the bread would have been better fresh not fried. We both ordered the Mussels in broth for our main course, which came with fries. The fries were good, but the mussels were underwhelming, and quite bland and unfortunately disagreed with my other half who spent the evening and all the next day quite ill from them. Verdict was not really worth the £47 our bill came to. Lacked flavour and missed the mark for for us.

Really great and tasty breakfast, the mushrooms should be a good hole dish on their own, bloody lovely. Comfortable outside seating with a very continental feel.

Good friendly service and excellent food. The salt beef sandwich was very good and included chips and salad.

We were recommended The Med by a local we had asked for directions and went the following day. It was sunny and we enjoyed a very good breakfast outside. Two days later we called again, this time with our dog; it was a chillier morning, but we were all welcomed inside and once again we had an excellent meal.

On a rare Sunny day we sat outside the restaurant for lunch. I appreciate it was busy but It was a fairly simple order. After half an hour my wife went to ask how long it would be. This seemed to move them and lunch appeared. Could not knock the food but when we finished the plates were left there. We had to ask for granddaughters ice cream (chocolate) this came up vanilla with a squirt of chocolate sauce over it. The dirty plates remained piled up and did so until we left.Perhaps the golden rule of restaurants should be explained to the staff i.e. don't go back to the kitchen empty handed. We have used the place before with no problem but perhaps the owner should realise that a seafront restaurant does not guarantee a full house but looking after locals does. We are your bread and butter!!!

Absolutely fantastic, I honestly don’t know why this place was almost empty on a Saturday night, they were brilliant. The meat was excellent and the garlic pizza was delicious. Would 100% recommend this place if you get the chance to visit Margate.

Visited today with my wife and children and we all had pizza. The service was excellent, food was tasty and good sizes for the money and it was just a relaxing place to eat if you have children. I even left a tip, which is rare for me so it must be good.

Love the amazing pizzas. Lots of fresh sea food options. Very cozy atmosphere. Friendly people. Decent prices. Wheelchair accessible to main floor, toilets in basement not accessible by wheelchair. Last time we went they were doing some renovations in the basement.

Overlooking Margate's waterfront, The Med brings a Mediterranean flair with its tantalizing menu of excellently prepared tapas. In the summer, you can eat on the square in front of the restaurant, which adds an additional element of interest.

Hidden gem in Margate! Fantastic delicious food with really friendly service. The restaurant may not look inviting.. but what it may lack in 1st impressions fully makes up in food and service. The portions are generous and taste amazing! Would highly recommend!

Sadly this place has gone downhill after changing from being Woody's. The staff all looked disinterested and fed up. They were slow with everything they did, We did notice during the time we had to wait, that a couple of staff spent long periods of time chatting enthusiastically at tables of people they obviously knew while neglecting to look out for others. We had planned to eat as well but the poor service just for drinks while looking at the menu changed our minds so we left and ate elsewhere. The menu is also uninspiring and overpriced. The first time I've visited since the change from Woody's and probably will be the last time.

Really poor lunch experience. The Med sells itself as a tapas restaurant - except there are only a handful of dishes – you’ll see a bigger choice at a petrol station. Pricing is extraordinary – humus and bread for eight quid. Service was equally poor....

Came today with the family, our waitress Maria (i may be wrong, however i did tell her i was posting this review so hopefully she recognises it) I believe was incredibly kind and friendly. The food was incredible!m also!

Went for lunch and waited more then one hour for the food to arrive. The waitress didn’t know why there was a delay. Complained 3 times and in the end was ready to walk out.

I had salmon and cream cheese on lovely bread and there was plenty . With salad and chips very nice. Very nice staff too

We had takeaway Calamari, garlic bread with mozarella & Fruits di mares pizzas, with a cheeky bottle of wine! They were really tasty, as good as when we order in the restaurant. The staff are always helpful and friendly, and Mark, the overall Manager/Owner, could not have been more responsive, and helpful. It is clear that he values his customers. Thank you again. We appreciate you, as we are locals!

Decided to update my first review with yet more great feedback. Came here for breakfast for the first time although we eat here regularly through out the summer. The breakfast was outstanding and by far the best we’ve had in Margate. The sausage was of great quality, beautiful sour dough toast, real butter, exceptional customer service. This will now be a firm fave for local breakfast!

Had breakfast with friends at this cafe. The food was exquisite, succulent and well priced. Staff were amazing, and their barista makes the most gorgeous and velvety coffee. The best place for breakfast in Margate by far.

Came down to London for the day with my friends found this amazing place, the pizza was absolutely amazing the staff was so welcoming especially our waitress maddie we will definitely be back!

Really dissapointed! Went to the Med this morning for breakfast and my favrioute waitress Maddie wasn't there, the service just wasn't the same, i came all the way from Deal, in future i will ring to make sure Maddie is working.

Usually come here for lunch etc but we visited for breakfast and I have to say it was the best breakfast I’ve had in Margate. Delicious, filling and wasn’t greasy. Fantastic price. Service was exceptional too so will definitely come back for breakfast.

Very poor service. We were sat down, family of 7, ordered our drinks. Then were told they weren't serving food for another half an hour. (ideally would have liked to be told this before being seated) we were then told there was no malibu and then saw a waitress taking the malibu from our restaurant into the neighbouring restaurant next door, tried to order calamari and were told they weren't doing it, only to see another table get served it. Constantly getting overlooked and forgotten. Got up and got our own sauces/napkins as our waitress sat and had a cigarette. Once the food came out it was lovely however Ate at SLAB the week before and was treated like royalty. Very disappointing in comparison! Would not eat here again, a little goes a long way!

Great place in the middle of Margate's old town within the piazza area. Great atmosphere, ghe sun was shining and it was the start of the queen's Jubilee everything was great. Staff were fine and the food was lovely Prices were reasonable . Will definitely try this restaurant again 😋.

If you like a burnt pizza base this is the place to go. Showed the waiter the burnt base they were least bothered.

Have eaten here a couple of times now. Food is very enjoyable, although one time when we visited my boyfriend ordered a steak and was brought a pizza. It got taken back but we weren't given any info on when his good would come or what was happening. But staff are friendly and we have returned since.

Even tho we had a small problem with our pizza order, the lady who is the assistant manager was very helpful! She did her best to make sure that we are happy. Special thanks to her. And pizza was really good, authentic Italian pizza. Service was fast. I definitely recommend The Med Pizza.

Ask waitress to change it and checked this as well she comes back few minutes later unfortunately all Coca cola are out of date and if she can replace my drink with something else I said yes sure. Gues what? Few minutes later parents turn up with little daughter and they ask for coca cola and they bring it to them like nothing happen!! Even we was still sitting there! Unacceptable behaviour!!!

Glorified takeaway. Woman serving was a bit gruff and had little concept of service. Music was like being at your primary school disco circa 2006 and played annoyingly loud. Pizza was alright, would get a takeaway if I was drunk, but wouldn't return to dine in.

Tasty tapas. Really good customer service as well. Food was served very fast. We had the Monday tapas deal for 2. Bill was all together 25 pounds. Definitely recommend it to anyone. Really good value. One con that I could say is that little bit extra garlic in foods. I like garlic so that was fine with me. But some may dislike it
