We went here for my grandson birthday, the food was nice ...and the young waitresses was lovely, but the owners of the pub was rude, the lady that owned the pub tried to take away plates when we was not finished, and then was rude and raised her voice, we all paid separately but they was aware of this when we booked and then was coming across rude and arrogant...the food was nice..but the Atmosphere for my grandsons 10th birthday...thank you guys, if you are having a bad day, please don't ruin someone else's ...will not be going here again for this reason

It was an absolutely lovely pub; warm welcome, great food (classic traditional food and a special’s board and most importantly all home made) and at very reasonable prices. Also the outside garden is very cute and quintessentially English Cottage in style and included and atmospheric wood burners. A great find and we will definitely go back. The service was very attentive and as I said very welcoming and warm. Sorry no pictures as we had already eaten it all before I realised! Thank you for a lovely meal.

Excellent lunch and service. I overheard everyone without exception say as they were leaving how much they enjoyed their meal. We thoroughly enjoyed ours too. I had delicious homemade cottage pie and fresh vegetables which was very tasty and filling. My vegan/vegetarian friend had vegetable curry followed by delicious orange and chocolate dessert with vegan ice cream. Note to self: must have lunch at The Maypole more often! Day 1 Had the Home made Chilli and Fish Cakes very good washed down with ESB and Griffin. Desert was Home made Sticky Toffee and Cheese cake. Great food and great informative service. Day 2 Went the following day as the pub had been taken over by the Pie people and we wanted the pie n mash but the day before when we had as above the page of the menu was missing from our boars . So we had to go again.Double London Mince Pie and Chicken and Mushroom Deep pies had with Mash and she'd loads of gravy just as it should be again another great meal washed down with the ESB and Griffin. Service was as good as before. Checked out the beer garden, fantastic space with lots of seating backing onto fields and away from the road. We will be back.

We went back to the Maypole this week after a funeral. The buffet was all very good, staff great and on hand to help if anything was needed. It was the perfect venue for the family gathering. Thank you to everyone at The Maypole.

As a local, was looking to have a nice lunch after a long do walk. I have been to the pub previously and it was a very nice experience with good food. Today ordered a sausage and onion sandwich which comes with chips. Looking at a nearby tables food I was really looking forward to it. When the food arrived the sausages were anaemic and the onion scarce. (Literally about 2 tiny strands in each sandwich). The condiments, as with the the sausage, were cheap and poor quality. The waitress that served us was lovely however and the small garden very nice. Even though I was hungry I ended up eating only a quarter of the sandwich - and that was not enjoyable! I made a comment to the bar lady (not sure if that was the landlady or not). Just to say how disappointed I was - with a view to get my view across not for any recompense. The same member of staff was very frosty and unwelcoming when I first came into the bar asking for a menu. Again, she didn't crack a smile, showed no interest whether I liked the food or not and made no real effort to apologize for the quality of what was served. The benefit of the doubt I shall give is perhaps the kitchen we're looking to close up early (we ordered about 14.00hrs) but the sauces are cheap and taste awful, the sausage poor - worryingly didn't even taste like sausage! The thing that has tipped me over the edge in making this review is the poor customer service I received...... which seems to go against the other reviews I see here....... maybe she was having a bad day.... we all get them from time to time but her reaction is what peeved me off most!

We are blessed to have a thriving proper pub at the very heart of Borden. The Maypole enjoys the support of a complete cross section of the community and beyond the parish borders. It offers excellent value for drinkers and diners alike. Monthly events are invariably a sell out. Sadly we are losing too many such establishments, a comment frquently made by our many visitors from beyond the immediate area.

I've always loved The Maypole. It is a great pub which has a nice garden for the summer and is nice and cosy inside for the colder months. It is located in a lovely village location which is ideal for walks or as a stop off point whilst cycling around the countryside. The food and drink is of a high standard and is well priced and the staff are also very friendly. All the necessary Covid-19 measures are in place with plenty of sanitizer, space between tables and it's also nice and clean meaning you can easily relax and enjoy yourself.

For the managers reference incase they feel the need to follow this up, I visited 06/07/21 at approx 19:30 and sat (well balanced) at table 11. I stopped by, mid dogwalk for a quick pint. I sat on table 11 and proceeded to order a pint of curious brew. Second sip in, the table I was sat at tilted to the point my pint spilled all over me and I twisted the knee I am currently awaiting surgery on. With no facemask to venture inside and no service outside, I ordered another pint using the app to pay, so I am not £8.80 in for a pint of beer. When the second pint was bought, there was an expectation that the waitress would provide some form of reparation. The reality of the situation was she couldn't have cared less, uttering the words "oh did you lose your pint" when I informed her I "wasn't aware the table was broken" she wouldn't have seemed less interested if she'd actually told me she didn't care, at least then there would have been some form of cognitive appraisal of the situation. There was no sign on the table, a thorough inspection of the table beforehand would have revealed it was not fit for purpose. However, that is not my responsibility. At a time when the hospitality sector is on its knees, I begrudgingly write this. However £8.80 to consume a pint, beer soaked legs and a twisted knee, topped off by a waitress who couldn't care less, left me wishing I hadn't stoppped. The not so local pub opposite the nearest secondary school offers far better service.
