We were lucky and got a table without having reserved. Very nice restaurant in the luxury district of Mayfair that exudes its own charm. The fish, breadcrumbs, chips and sauces were top notch. We haven't had better in London. Definitely an experience.

My first visit to The Mayfair Chippy was fantastic! The service was excellent, and the staff were very friendly. The food was incredibly delicious. A special thanks to the employee Issa, and also to another staff member whose name I didn't catch. I will definitely be back!

A place you have to try without a doubt! Despite waiting an hour in line outside with 5 degrees… they made us feel at home when we entered. A very close treatment and especially from Laura. A really delicious beer and super juicy cod!

A great place to try Fish and Chips in London. We didn't have a reservation and we had to wait a little in line, but it was worth it. Inside we were served by Laura, a charming and very friendly Spanish waitress. We will return!!

The food and service are both excellent!

I was keen to try the classic cod and chips and it was very good. The mushy peas were excellent also. If I went again I'd be trying the mussels as they also looked very nice. Staff were friendly and helpful. It's a busy popular place so I would definitely book ahead. Great experience. Highly recommended.

I thought this would be a fast food stand - I was pleasantly surprised. Everything was great about this place. It is small so make a reservation or get there when they open l. I had lunch and I wish I had time to go again!

Wow! Proper Fish and chips! Quaint atmosphere. Incredible service. Rita was amazing. We even had a person with allergies and she made sure no worries. We tried both the cod and the haddock . Both delicious. She made us feel super welcomed and treated us like family! Both batter light and crispy and fish was very fresh! We waited just a few minutes for a table but even the bar is perfectly pleasant. This was a definite winner in all respects.

We went there for dinner after receiving good references about this restaurant where we could try the authentic fish and chips in the city. We went a couple of times and we always found ourselves in a queue, so we decided to get in line and in 30-40 minutes they served us. We ate at the bar. We ordered fish and chips that you can choose between two types of fish (one more fatty than the other) with potatoes and three sauces (tartar, mashed peas and one like meat broth). The dish is very abundant, delicious and very filling. The treatment by all the staff was very pleasant and always smiling. They make a lot of jokes. Especially the treatment received from Isaac and the new blonde girl who sits at the tables. Thank you!

Amazing food, very friendly staff

Nice food and great ambience. We were there on a Sat evening and it sure was crowded. Be prepared to wait to 30 mins for walk in customers. But it’s worth the wait!

🤗 Fish & Chips. We had haddock that we don’t get them in Asia. This is the real blue rayed finned cod. Yummy 😋. Was told that their Prawn Toast and Mussels are their signatures too. We shared the prawn toast and found it unique. Must book this place in advance❣️ 📣 The lady manager was so responsive that she accommodated to our last minute change due to our flight delay. Not only did she reply to our email immediate. She even sent us a sms to our international mobile number. The four of us were so impressed by their professionalism. Indeed, Quality customer service with lasting impression 👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻. By the way, this place is really popular. We knew they have another outlet at Knightsbridge. But we prefer this outlet still😆

The fish and chips are very delicious, worth every penny. It’s not worth sitting and eating as the takeaway is much cheaper, but the food tastes delicious with all the side sauces they offer. Definitely try fish and chips and the takeaway is 16-17£ which is very good as compared to the 24-25£ in the restaurant where u get nothing extra but a table which is literally very cold. Rather take this and eat somewhere else

El mejor Fish and Chips que hemos probado, un muy buen rebozado y nada aceitoso. Nosotros cogimos "Fried cod, chips, mushy peaks, tartar & chip shop curry sauce" (un fish and chips con 3 salsas diferentes) y un "Fried Fish Haddock" al cual añadimos patatas. Nos sobraron un montón de patatas, el fish and chips con las tres salsas lleva suficientes patatas para dos personas. Ahora, estaba buenísimo. También comimos de postre el primero que aparecía recomendado por el camarero y delicioso. El espacio en el restaurante un poco pequeño, pero la comida deliciosa.

I had the MAYFAIR CLASSICS , Fish & Chips. I chose the haddock. It came with tartar sauce and curry sauce, so I was able to change up the flavor. The haddock itself was very tasty and satisfying. There is a long queue, so I recommend making a reservation.

Had a fabulous experience at The Mayfair Chippy. Recommended by the big bus tour guide, we decided to take a chance and get in line around 4pm. After a short wait we had a table in the back and the most fantastic service from Fabio. Our food was delicious, all of us having the classic fried fish and chips, with haddock as our choice of fish. The table directly behind us was extremely demanding, with tons of questions about the menu, seating, wifi, and even wanting to charge their phones, but our fabulous server took it all in stride, patiently answering each request and still managing to give friendly and timely service to his other customers. Extremely impressed with both our service and food. Thank you Fabio! Highly recommend everyone stop by to see him and have a bite to eat.

The fried sea bass is super large, almost as long as a girl’s forearm, and the fries are not that heavy. They come with 3 special sauces ~ tartar sauce, green soy milk and curry sauce. Satisfaction UP.

We loved the site! Typical English restaurant to eat fish and chips, with a warm and friendly atmosphere. The food was good but the service was even better. Special mention to Laura, a waitress from Malaga who has all the art in the world and couldn't be nicer! I recommend it 100%. I will definitely return!

Excellent fish and chips, the staff are great and super pleasant. If you don't want to wait, it's best to book in advance (I would even say that it's essential). I recommend this establishment which is definitely worth the detour.

Very long queue, About an hour to get in.. The food was alright nothing surprising.

We have walked past loads of times as we stay nearby. There is always a queue and we finally decided to see what the fuss was about. We decided to get a take out as it was getting late around 8.30pm. We got the fish and chips between us. We were charged a service charge even though we didn’t eat in. Not sure why and wasn’t impressed. The disappointment didn’t end there. The fish was nice but the chips tasted like warm ups and not proper chippy chips like you get in the north more of an oven chip. So sadly not impressed. The curry was nice though

It is worth trying the fish and chips here. A delight!! The waiter who served me made me have a pleasant dinner and took care of understanding me and recommending the best at all times along with the only guy who spoke Spanish in the place! My sister and I visited London last week and went to this restaurant to eat the classic Fish and Chips and we definitely were not disappointed. It was very fresh and delicious and also the service was really good A special thanks to Fabio who was really kind and also gave us some blankets since we were sitting outside. He tried to make the experience as pleasant as possible. Please make sure to book a table guys, otherwise you’ll have to wait longer than an hour or sit outside. We decided to sit outside even though it was freezing that day but in the end it was worth it. Next time we‘ll do better though and make sure to book a table.

My fiancé and I had dinner there a few weeks ago, and we ate really well. The line moved super quickly despite being quite long. In no time, we were welcomed inside. The staff was incredibly kind and helpful. In particular, Laura, a very sweet girl with whom we even chatted a bit in Italian!

Ate here for first time yesterday during lunch service. Originally had table booked for 11:00. Restaurant contacted us day before to re-schedule to 12:15 (due to a large family booking of rich middle easterners). We didn’t get our table until 13:00 (therefore missed important appointment). I’d especially like to mention Rita who was so sincerely apologetic for the inconvenience; there was also a gent in a white shirt who was part of management team (who’s name I’ve forgotten - sorry) - he too was very helpful to us. The venue is certainly a busy and popular place. The food is really good; the prawn toasts are very good; went for traditional cod & chips. My wife had the mussels - also sublime. Despite the initial disappointments due to booking errors, staff went above and beyond to ensure our visit was a memorable one. Thanks again Rita!

Excellent place, very delicious food, suitable for celiacs and exceptional service. The Spanish guy attended to us and advised us very well, explaining every detail of the food. It's nice to go to a foreign place and find Spaniards who treat you so well. A 10!!

The place is very small and the food is delicious, but as a service I came with my son and my husband had reserved a table for us and the employee refused to let me enter the restaurant until my husband came to me and she was just being rude to me. Honestly, the first time was very nice and the second time the employee was rude to me.

The fried fish is delicious and the people who work with it are great. The location of the restaurant is nice and close to many things, but the place is considered simple, but whoever loves fish will also like the restaurant👍🏻

The best fish and chips I had in my long life .

Growing up in Lincolnshire where ‘cod heads’ from Grimsby think they invented fish and chips, I’m naturally sceptical of ‘Mayfair Fish & Chips’, especially with loads of tourists waiting to be seated for a fine dining experience outside. From the exterior I’m expecting it to be a bit of a novelty act with a massive price tag. But wait… Firstly, you can walk-in and order take away, so don’t be perturbed by the line at the door. Secondly, it’s proper fish and chips. Haddock was freshly cooked, moist and flaky to the bite, substantial and the batter light and crispy (not stodgy at all). Chips were cut long and fat, good crispiness and not greasy, which is great for absorbing vinegar! Mushy peas were ‘chip-shop’ mushy peas, not home-made jobbies here; proper ‘from the tin’ old school vibes. And the curry sauce alike; it could have been from the mean streets of Cleethorpes. And all served in a ‘eco’ paper packaging with great tartar sauce and loads of salt and vinegar (Heinz not Sarsons but I’ll let that slide). And they even throw in a wooden cutlery set and napkin so you can eat al fresco (maybe not in October). All for £16.75 which is about £4-5 more than your local sad market town chippy, but this is Mayfair and given you pay £8 for a crap pint anywhere, it’s a very good value. So well done Mayfair Chippy. I’ll be back.

Very good food, long waiting time without reservation (an hour), and unfortunately, for me, small portions of the fish itself (most of it is breaded) and too high prices for such portions. 🫣

The place, the service, and the food, all together, are not worth a visit.

Don’t come here. One of those places that like to pretend their reservations are full or that they will be filled when their tables are all empty. They will sit you at Bar tables and horrible seats when after 1.5hr while you are in the restaurant, half the place is empty. Food is average at best, much better fish&chip places everywhere. Avoid especially if you are a tourist!

We entered the place after waiting 25 minutes at the door. The fish & chips are average, the frontier beer is nice. The prices are poor in terms of price performance and are not suitable for such a restaurant. The friend we went with said that when he went to the bathroom, it wasn't clean and he saw the kitchen area, and if he had seen it before, he wouldn't have been able to eat there...

This dining experience was top notch! They offer an amazing gluten free menu and the food and staff were excellent. Staff was very knowledgeable about gluten free food and that was very much appreciated. Hope we have the chance to go back again in the future!

A popular dish in London is fried fish and chips. The fish is even, maintains its freshness, and is a good size. The crust has a plain taste (not salty or spicy) and contains a lot of oil. I had to drown it with lemon or dip it in curry sauce. Or tartar A normal one-time experience, given that it is one of the most visited places for the famous fish dish. The restaurant does not have good ventilation, the smell of fish and frying is strong and was caught on our clothes.. 3 stars for the average dish level, and for the poor ventilation.

If you must come to this location make sure to make a reservation, or wait in line for a while outside in the cold! Been here before and the food and service used to be good, however this time it was dreadful. Had to ask for water refills more times then can count, food took forever and one of their menu items were out earlier in the evening. Honestly, wish I didn’t pay the service charge that was tacked on the bill as it wasn’t worth it. Also their salmon appetizer isn’t anything special and the HP gravy that comes with the fish and chips are underwhelming, as well as the optional side order of pickles. Won’t be returning unfortunately.

It was a very good experience, although the wait was a little long, upon entering we were treated very well, the portion is large and comes with sauces. Laura was super nice and gave us recommendations to go next.

Food was very good, the service however is terrible...wrong orders delivered , no drinks until several reminders were finally headed and got water and chips that were missing just as we were leaving. Staff plentiful but not very customer orientated - must be because there is a queue they think they can charge what they like and treat the customer like an intrusion on their day. Food is very good but is it worth the wait, hype and being treated like you are in the way....no.

We didn't make a reservation and had to wait a little in line, but it was 1000% worth it. The classic fish & chips was spectacular, and the service treated us wonderfully. In this case Laura helped us and made the experience even better!! Thank you!!

3 adults, 1 child When we walked in the front of house was very uninviting, she seemed annoyed that we came in, told us they would need to table back in an hour. We had to ask for a child’s menu. About 15 minutes later (even though we were told they were in a rush” they took our order. 2 fish and chips, one child sausage and chips and a veggie fish and chip. The veggie option came out first with no chips, the others followed. We had to ask twice for the child’s drinks. And a further 20 minutes before the chips from the veggie fish and chips came. In the meantime the staff seemed to be having a meeting. We also asked for water for the table which only was offered as we were ready to leave. Food was great but service was terrible.

After hearing a lot of hype about Mayfair Chippy, I decided to give it a try. Unfortunately, my experience didn’t quite live up to the expectations. While the restaurant seems popular, I’d have to say it’s more mid-tier than amazing. I ordered the Fried Cod with Chips, Mushy Peas, Tartar Sauce, and Chip Shop Curry Sauce. My first disappointment was the fish. I was expecting a crispy, golden-brown outer shell, but it arrived soggy, with the batter lacking the thickness needed for that signature crunch. The texture fell short of what I’d hoped for in classic fish and chips. As for the curry sauce, I expected a bold, rich flavour, but it was underwhelming. It lacked depth and was surprisingly bland for a sauce that’s supposed to elevate the dish. A thicker consistency might also have helped. That said, the service was excellent—friendly and efficient, which made the experience more enjoyable. I’d also recommend booking ahead to avoid waiting, as the restaurant can get quite busy. Overall, the dish was decent but certainly not worth the hype. For the price and reputation, I expected better execution, especially on the basics like crispy batter and flavourful sauce. Mayfair Chippy might work for some, but for me, it missed the mark.

Best takeaway fish and chips for £16.75. Super light coating on the fish, really nice curry and tartar sauce. Would recommend takeaway and go to a nearby park to enjoy on a sunny day!

Delicious fish & chips. We took the classic to share between 3 people, extra fries and olives for an appetizer and we weren't able to eat it... so I recommend dividing the portions in half :)

Seen online though I would give it a go. Chips where okay not oily which was good but a little hard nothing special cod was thick no skin I like that but the batter was not great maybe MSG init. The peas were peas again nothing special curry sauce was horrible Also had lamb shoulder pie which was okay but again nothing special. At best 7/10 value for money 5/10.

Good experience overall. Lovely staff, very friendly and food is very tasty. Menu is on the more pricey side of things with quite high price tags for small items such as starters. Main being fish and chips was quite expensive but it was very nice. Quite a small place and things are a little tight space wise. The staff did a birthday special for my guest and brought a sticky toffee pudding and sang, then didn’t charge us for it! Very generous and it was delicious.

You need to book a table or your waiting for a table can be forever

We had high hopes for this fish and chips restaurant, but our experience was incredibly disappointing. Even though we had made a reservation, it wasn’t honored when we arrived. The staff seemed indifferent and made no attempt to resolve the situation. Overall, the poor organization and lack of professionalism left us feeling frustrated. Unfortunately, I can’t recommend this place to others.

Aside from Korean food, it was the most delicious food I had in London. I recommend making a reservation and visiting. It's really, really delicious, so I want to eat it again now. Is it peas or mousse? If you eat it with tartar sauce and that green sauce, it's just fantastic, and the curry sauce is really attractive..! The staff were all very friendly and even though they were not good at English, they understood everything on their own, so I felt comfortable. I want to go again next time I visit London.

A very beautiful place that I highly recommend

I went there with high expectations because I heard it was delicious, but it was really delicious! The fish flesh was thick and the outside was reasonably crispy, making it easy to eat. My mom, who was with me, happened to have a birthday, so I wrote it down when I made the reservation and she also gave me a dessert as a gift. I was so thankful!

Their famous dish is delicious, but it is best to eat it without potatoes And potatoes, order them with truffles as they are fresher ✔️

I had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. Despite having a reservation, the staff acted as though it didn’t exist and made no effort to accommodate us. The lack of organization was frustrating, and we felt unwelcome. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone looking for a well-managed restaurant with respectful customer service.

Excellent fish and chips; all cooked fresh to order and served promptly. Light crispy batter and lovely fresh fish. Chips were crispy on outside and soft in middle, perfect. Also ordered salt and pepper squid to start which was beautifully cooked and delicious. Good value for money.

Was the best meal I had in London. Everything was very yummy, and I really enjoyed every bite. It’s a busy restaurant so better to reserve ahead. However, the service was excellent! Our waitress Laura was so friendly and nice.

Absolute trash service. Was waiting in line more than 40 minutes. Not sure if it was the manager or not, but he did not specify whether we were waiting to sit inside or out. After the 40 minutes he asked if we want to wait another 40 minutes to sit inside. Could have had the common courtesy to specify this from the get. Once seated. They took another 40 minutes with the order and made excuses. The table next to us were seated after us and got their food much quicker along with the bill.

Best fish and chips ever, so so so good. Batter was crispy and fish was so fresh. Thick chunky chips was a good accompaniment. Huge portion, worth every penny.

This is definitely some of the better fish and chips places that I've visited in London. This is a very popular place so best to make reservations before coming. The selections here are mainly for fish and chips so that already makes this place unique. It does offer other seafood dishes but is very limited as it specializes in fish and chips. Overall, the fish was tasty and made to order. A good experience.
