Excellent! If I could give 6 star I would. We started our visit with drinks in the bar which was all lovely, the surroundings are beautiful, the atmosphere is calm and tranquil, we then later headed to the newly redesigned dinning room to have dinner in which is grand to look at and take it all in, but not over the top... The staff were all superb which was a highlight of the visit as they're all very personable and attentive. We ordered the beef wellington which was absolutely delicious and the side dishes too along with puddings which were also top notch. Now the Goring dinning room is my favourite luxury restaurant in London to visit. An experience to be had for sure! If I had to put it simply I'd say the experience is a cut above the rest. Thank you for such a wonderful night :)

Gorgeous service and friendly staff, chatted about the restaurant’s renovation, food explanations, celebrations of my meal. The Goring egg drumkilbo was stunning, and learnt that it was the favorite dish of Queen Elizabeth. The scallops and duck were cooked absolutely right. Their textures were perfect. The chestnut cream with blackcurrant jelly was too sour to me. And felt like the strong taste of sour jelly dominated the taste of delicious chestnut cream, which the chestnut cream itself was great. The overall experience was amazing. Not surprised this is with Michelin distinction. Happy to visit again.

Huge THANK YOU to The Goring Hotel, where we had our wedding dinner and reception. As a foodie with high expectations for service, I was completely blown away. The level of service (Simone is a star), attention to detail, and incredible food were all beyond anything I could have imagined. The flavours still fresh in my memory, and everything was simply perfect. A huge thank you to Annabel, who helped organise everything flawlessly and who was so kind, patient and professional. I am recommending The Goring from the bottom of my heart and can’t wait to return for more special celebrations. For anyone looking for the perfect venue for weddings or special events, I cannot recommend The Goring highly enough—it’s truly unforgettable.

We decided to celebrate my birthday with a royal celebration at the Goring Hotel. If it's good enough for William and Kate it's certainly good enough for me. As a matter of fact Kate loves it here so much it is where she stayed the night before her wedding. We opted to go for all their signature offerings. Our cuisine began with the Gorings egg Drumkilmo which consisted of lobster ,aged caviar and roasted tomato. OMG!! Main course was their famous Beef Wellington with slow cooked short rib with a pickled horseradish. To say this beef melted on your palate would be an understatement . And of course it was mandatory to save room for their ever popular Rum Baba flambé with Lemongrass crème . Needless to say I was immediately transported into a decadent food coma but sooo worth it! Claudio our server made us feel special and the rest of the staff is very attentive to detail. I left feeling like I had been treated like a Princess! 👑💕

I’ve visited the dining room yesterday where I had my birthday dinner. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Me and my fiancée felt comfortable from the beginning of our visit. Started strong - ended poorly. Service once seated was decent. However - as other’s have flagged the bill took ages. What’s worse was that they gave us the wrong bill - wrong table, head count server altogether. Not sure how you missed that? First time in my life that I’ve been given the wrong bill - let alone at this supposedly prestigious institution. If you think that’s the end you’re wrong. When I flagged a staff to correct it - they were already primed to say “my colleague will be with you with the machine” before I corrected them that the wrong bill was presented - alas then said waiter scuffled away sheepishly. The maitre’d that ultimately brought us the card machine had zero ounce of professionalism. Instead of apologizing - took a rather rude tone and chided that “she was doing her best” and that she’ll grab her manager as if that was some sort of threat. Of course no manger came around and of course we didn’t stick around given how late it was. Hardly think this place is worthy of its Michelin * or Royal Warrant. Food was cheap though so that’s a plus. Now that’s out of the way - let’s talk food. Starters - duck liver was bland and repulsive to the eye. The accompanying brioche was also overtly sweet and masked any ounce of umami from the pate. Heritage tomato again - also bland. Their solution to this one dimensional dish was to serve the same ingredient in 3 ways - spoiler it didn’t help. Partner only got this because they supposedly sold out of oyster at 8pm (pretty poor planning if you ask me). Egg with caviar/lobster was decent - but let’s face it, it’s basically a dish hiding behind the ingredients. On the mains - lobster omelette was lovely - no complaints. Duck and venison both good value for money. Doesn’t expect Dinner by Heston standard though. Deserts - fig tart was inedible - bitterness overwhelmed dish. Petit fours basically tasted like your local off license chocolate - didn’t even finish. A nice little touch was the birthday card and cake for partner. Ambience - very old and outdated decor (it fails to capture the timeless essence of say the Ritz or Dorchester). Music was bizarre - they were playing techno-jazz music with heavy edm beats. Mind you the average guest was on the elderly side - I don’t think playing such music makes you modern. Overall if this is meant to be your introductory place to the London fine dining scene I would say it’s possible (given very competitive price point), but if you’ve started your journey of luxury elsewhere, one would be very disappointed with the Goring Dining Room. Here’s to hoping they redeem themselves one day. Until then - I shall be spending my money elsewhere!!

Sunday lunch. Lobster omelette to start. Melts in the mouth. The roast beef was excellent and cooked to perfection. Let down a bit by way over done roast potatoes. That apart fabulous. Service was right up there with the best I have had. Sunday lunch is not a busy service, so the newly refurbed dining room lacked a certain ambience.

We have just had the most wonderful dining/stay experience at the Goring Hotel. We visited the Goring Hotel in March for my Mothers birthday and had afternoon tea on the Veranda which was splendid and plentiful. We decided that our next visit to London would be to stay here and utilise the recently refurbished dining room and we were not disappointed. From “the compliments of the chef” the beetroot macaroons were delicious We chose the Beef Wellington which we have to say was just superb. We have had beef Wellington on several occasions elsewhere and we both agreed that this was the best by far. Through to the Yorkshire rhubarb and lemon shortbread tartlet dessert for my mum and Oak Church raspberries and strawberries aerated violet mousse and toasted almonds for me again delicious. The staff were so attentive and made every moment so special. This along with our stay has left just with the most wonderful memories and hopefully to be repeated very soon Thank you

Sadly, this should be a 5 star review but we went for a pre-theatre meal and the Pre-theatre menu. We even shared that with the dining team. Unfortunately we were only able to enjoy the starters and half of our mains but no dessert. We literally had to beg for the check to make it to our show. What a fabulous restaurant but to not deliver on pre-theatre with well over an hour and absolutely no concern, apology, or accommodation for the slow service. We were also overcharged for our daughter’s kids menu burger but didn’t have time to bother with sorting it to get to our show. The food and service otherwise were fantastic.

Such an extraordinary Sunday brunch! The fantastic food! The stunning setting! The superb service! I have been to the Goring perhaps a dozen times -- sometimes to stay there, sometimes for lunch, sometimes for dinner, sometimes for the stunning Sunday brunch. I have always been thoroughly impressed and satisfied. I wondered about the new decor but found it to be marvelous. A much-needed refresh. Fortunately the delicious food offerings remain as wonderful as always. The staff are always gracious, welcoming and courteous -- one gets the feeling that all had attended a time-honored butler school and graduated top of their class. I simply cannot say enough wonderful compliments about The Goring. It is my favorite place in London and one of my favorite places in the world. I always feel welcome, wonderful, and well-cared for every time I visit. I always feel as though I am returning home and am surrounded by the friendliest and helpful people.

I have used this Dining Room regularly for many years but do not usually write reviews but seeing some very unexpected comments recently, I am moved to relate my experiences. I use this Dining Room for both business and personal use, taking many people who, like myself, regularly visit many other top class Restaurants; many in London. They like me are extremely impressed with the re-furbished Room, Kitchen and Menu. Agreed modern portions tend to be smaller than in years past but the Menu still has traditional items such as Eggs Drumkilbo (Lobster cocktail), Lobster Omelette, Beef Wellington, Dover Sole,Flamed Rhum Baba etc. Also some of the new additions, such as Dry Aged Aylesbury Duck and Duck liver Pate with a great homemade pistachio Brioche are excellent. All my guests have enthused about their visits with me, loving every aspect of their experience, including the crisp outside and fluffy inside roast potatoes and the excellent Roast Beef. There is a superb Wine List with an extensive range of top quality wines and vintages. The Room is amazing with Curtains, Carpets and Tablecloths, tables widely spaced apart with plenty of natural daylight ensuring a quiet environment and the ability to have conversations without being overheard or being drowned out by a nearby table! Finally the unique Goring service , which treats every guest with dignity, in a friendly way, which is often lacking in similar establishments. The staff are extremely helpful and understanding of individual needs. Please don't take my word for it, come and try it for yourselves; I don't think you will disappointed.

I had a most amazing night here, from the time I came out of the taxi, until I got into a taxi to go back to my hotel. Everyone was very courteous and kind, and made me feel welcome. I arrived a bit early so I had a drink in the bar, and because it took them a few seconds more to make it than planned, I got a free drink and some olives and snacks. No need for it, but it made me happy all the same. In the restaurant I was met with smiles and kind words, and help to understand the things on the menu that were foreign to me. The food was divine, everything was presented in a delicate way and I am happy with everything I tried. Even though I was alone and only had the table for 1,5 hours, I was not rushed and sat for well over that time. All the people who worked there were very attentive and made sure I had an excellent time As I was leaving, I asked one of the porters to help with a taxi, and felt a bit bad for him as he had to run to the next street to be able to hail a taxi. All in all, a most faboulous time. I would recommend everyone to visit. :)

Last weekend, with significantly sunnier weather (please come back), we had the pleasure of visiting The Goring Hotel for Sunday Lunch. There has been a renovation to the dining room since my last visit, but this hasn’t quite extended to the menu. There are some nice dishes on the menu; however, the menu feels a bit stale, and slightly out of touch with modern restaurants. I had the scallop which was very nice and fresh, but at £24 it felt like it lacked a bit of substance. The roast beef, was a bit chewy, and the roast potatoes that accompanied the roast as my main course were very dry, as if they had been cooked days before and then reheated. The food did feel rather underwhelming, particularly when we were paying £80-100 person, not including wine. Rating: 3.5/5.

Sadly I wasn’t staying at the hotel but had a table for 5 booked for a farewell breakfast for a good friend . Our breakfast was served in the conservatory which is where hotel guests are also served breakfast The service and hospitality from the moment we arrived was exquisite. We all had the freshly squeezed orange juice on being seated which set the high standard for the rest of the breakfast. I decided to go for the full English which then included the juice toast and hot drinks which was the best value in my opinion. After breakfast one of the staff kindly took our photo in one of the lounge areas with the famous Goring sheep

We have loved The Goring restaurant for many years but have not been since before Covid, owing to health issues. We accepted when we booked to celebrate my husband's 80th birthday on March 21 that the dining room was being refurbished, so we would be eating in the conservatory with a restricted menu. But we were horrified by the whole experience. The bar, which used to be very relaxing, was packed with no seats left and four of us had to perch on bar stools which was difficult as one of us is disabled. We accept that it is good for business that the The Goring bar is now so popular - but the extremely poor level of service was surprising and very disappointing. It took an amazing time to be served. One of us got the wrong drink and it seemed to tax the ability of the bar staff to make a ‘St Clements’ soft drink for one of us. All that could have been saved if there had been the previous level of cusiine and service when we got into the conservatory to eat. Only two of us had starters as the others were not inspired by the limited, and poor, choice. The crab in the two starters we had was very nice but the cavier was a joke as it was so tiny it appeared to have been served with a salt spoon. But the worse part was the four main courses which were quite appaling. Three of us had the beef which was served luke warm to cold, and desperately tough. The brocolli was utterly cold, as was the other main course of lobster omelette. This has been a favourite of mine as a starter for many years of eating at The Goring and this time it was unrecognisable from how it was in the past. In was utterly tasteless with a congeled top under which the omelette had seperated into a thick congeled leyer and a liquid base. The lobster tail on top was impossible to remove from the shell. I can only assume that it had been badly made and then left to stand for a very long time before serving. I can only wonder at the lobster- but it tasted as no lobster I have ever had before. We ate very little and did not attempt any dessert. We went home unfed and very deeply dissapointed – we shall not be returning.

The Gorning went above and beyond for me and my friend today. We came in for afternoon tea and all of the staff was so lovely, friendly, and helpful. My friend started to feel sick as soon as we sat down and we ended up needing to leave early after the first course. When I told the staff we were leaving early I fully intended on paying the full bill for all the courses. Instead, they gave us no bill and wished my friend a swift recovery. Overall, it was a good dining experience, but I'm not happy that I asked the waiter to take a picture of my husband and me, and the photos turned out so blurred. We're on vacation and want to have some decent photos. It's just that the waiter didn't seem to care at all. I find it a bit rude; if he wasn't in the mood to take a picture, he should have politely declined or at least said, 'I'm sorry, I'm not good at taking pictures” (attaching the blurred pic because I still can’t get over it 😡)

This is a wonderful hotel and my past experiences of the restaurant have been outstanding, but not on this occasion. The service from all the staff was impeccable and the quality of the food excellent. However, the Christmas menu was disappointing. The menu said a glass of Bollinger Special Cuvée would be served but we were served Ayala. Although a sister house to Bollinger, the wine is quite different and not of the same quality. The turkey main course consisted of four very thin sliced circles of meat of about 5cm - the equivalent of about two mouthfuls. Yes, there were plenty of little treats with each course but on reflection it was clear that the inclusive menu of £130 was bulked up with a considerable amount of pastry items. So at the end I felt full but definitely not satisfied.

It was my first afternoon tea at the Goring and, after having tried several other locations in 5 star hotels, this was my best experience as afternoon tea. The veranda where it’s served is overlooking a marvelous garden where dreamy Christmas decorations can be seen in this period of the year. The veranda is well illuminated by natural light, the tables are well spaced, people are not squeezed as I saw in other famous 5 stars and you feel cozy and comfortable. There is a natural elegant warmth that makes you really perceive the taste of a beautiful tradition. Service is flawless from the reception to the last cup of tea. Restrooms displays Asprey soap and hand lotion for the guests. Sandwiches are cared and tasty, scones and clotted cream unforgettable and the sweet side amazing and original. We’ll surely return.

This is a slightly delayed review of my last visit to the Goring for afternoon tea on 1st November. I originally wrote a review of my first visit on 31st May 2023, where I expressed my disappointment at the table we were given. This was nothing to do with the food, but everything to do with the atmosphere. As a result, the hotel kindly offered me two free teas at a date of my choice. We returned on the 1st November. What a difference being seated in the Veranda makes. The room is very attractive, with lovely views of the garden. Although I didn't mention it in my first review, the meal on both occasions was really good. There is an excellent selection of teas, and we opted for a pot of white tea. My friend had recently returned from Sri Lanka and said it was good. It was very delicate and refreshing. The little amuse-bouche at the start of the meal was gorgeous; in fact we said we could have eaten another one of those little savoury tarts and missed out on the sandwiches altogether. The latter had a good selection of fillings, and the scones were wonderful, some of the best I have ever eaten. And not too large, which enabled us to manage a cake or two. The reason I have given 4 stars rather than 5 is partly because I am unable to give four and a half stars, and partly a matter of personal taste. We all found the cakes a bit too rich. This is not an issue with the Goring alone, I have been to many afternoon teas and felt the same. I enjoyed the ones offered this time more than those from my previous visit, but I still felt that a plainer offering might have balanced out all the richness.

The Veranda at The Goring Hotel is a pretty little place for afternoon tea and a tête-à-tête. We began our little feast with sparkling water and the Bollinger rosé champagne, which was fab…what a great start indeed! We also selected the Rosebuds tea and the Silver Needle “from Fujian province”. A lovely array of finger sandwiches, freshly made scones, cakes and tarts was served on three tiers. We started with the generously portioned sandwiches, my favourite. Tastes do vary but I found the simple cucumber and smoked salmon sandwiches the best! The scones with Devonshire clotted cream and jam were nice and warm, and did not disappoint. Simply lovely. By the time we had the pastries, we were stuffed. The staff were professional and attentive, and provided seamless service right from the doorstep/entrance to the lobby, (to the loo!), to The Veranda, and also on the way out. The price points for the Traditional Goring Tea and the Bollinger Rosé Tea are £65/USD79/€75/AUD123/SGD108, and £80/USD98/€92/AUD152/SGD133, respectively. We had a lovely time. Highly recommended!

Utterly disappointing, a sad 2/10. My family came to London for a city break and I flew in from Dubai. From previously living her, we have tried a lot of renowned afternoon tea’s in many prestigious places, however, never tried The Goring. From the moment we walked in, the lobby was lovely. We asked a chap in front office where to go, who ended up pointing us into the direction of the dining room to the left. We stood at the hostess desk, to which the girl just left us stood there. 5 minutes later she asked for the name and couldn’t find the booking (which confirmed that morning). Eventually we were told we were in the wrong place and she told us to go down the corridor. We were greeted for afternoon tea and sat down. We ordered 4 champagne brut afternoon tea. We were given an amuse Bouche, a little veggie tart. Very surprised for such a prestigious place to bring us tarts all cracked and falling apart. Surprised, chef let them go out like this. Tea selection was good (although I was given the wrong tea) and we advised we had one veggie with us (but would eat cucumber and egg sandwich - she wasn’t a vegan). The afternoon tea came and with all normal sandwiches. We said again one should be veggie and shared the sandwich preference, a short while later all new sandwiches came and looked like someone rushed the job - different sizes, rough edges, uneven and soggy. Disappointing. Scones were nice and the cakes were nice. I understand the hotel is very traditional, but the room was looking very tired. Lacked atmosphere and the staff, just didn’t seem to have much of a clue. Asides one young waiter who was the only friendly one and I could see this across several tables. Paid £80 for champagne afternoon tea and I would recommend elsewhere. The landmark, Claridges, Mandarin Oriental, are much better. Such a shame.

Great experience here. Service was fab and very personal from start to finish. They didn’t forget a thing. There’s a lovely ambience to the restaurant and because of this, it is not noticeable that there is no music. I loved that. As for the food, brilliant! Starting off with caviar (which rookie error, came before our bread 😳) , plenty of trimmings for the caviar. I wasn’t the biggest fan of the Bellinis, they were very bready borderline stale. Then my main was outstanding, be it much larger than I expected ! In fact it was huge! I had the duck which came with a beautiful cherry potato and duck confit which was to die for. The lobster omelette is very creamy and rich , it also comes with chips and the lobster tail with salad. Again massive portion! We shared a generous side of peas which lacked pancetta. For dessert we shared a delicious chocolate and mango mousse , yum!! Overall I loved my experience here , felt like a proper traditional British restaurant. Well worth dressing up to come here. Delicious food and with the size of the portions it’s also great value, about £125pp. I must say the duck was delicious!!

We made a long trip from Scotland for afternoon tea, and we were not disappointed. We were received in good time and enjoyed a drink while we waited for our table. I gave prior warning of a special birthday and instructions of a child with fairly plain eating habits. All was extremely well catered for, including sparkling nosecco for our daughter. Afternoon tea was fantastic, including impeccable service standards. A small cake for the birthday girl was very well received and a lovely gesture. In addition, my daughter was offered food that suited her too. Everybody was excited about the trip and was highly delighted feeling quite full and very content. Amazing location and staff made this an unforgettable experience. Thankyou all.

We decided to skip starters and order main course dishes. Two of us ordered the Beef Wellington, to share.£110 I ordered the Dover Sole (Meuniere.) £72 We expected to wait as the Beef Wellington takes quite a while to cook to order. When the two dishes came to the table, I could see at a glance that the Sole didn't look right. I was disappointed as It was dehydrated-looking with not much colour. I thought it would be overcooked and it was. I didn't feel like waiting another 20 mins for them to cook another Sole We were all hungry and I was a guest at the table, so I ate it. Had I been on my own I would have sent it back. When the waiter asked if we enjoyed the food, I said the sole was overcooked. His reply was "I will tell the Chef" The Beef Wellington looked really good, and all the sides £6- £7 each were fine. ,

Wonderful dinner and drinks with brilliant food and service. We went for my birthday and lovely extra touches of card and cake made it extra special. Highlights had to be the excellent Beef Wellington and we absolutely loved having a drink listening to the piano being played. All in all a top notch experience

we were there for dinner. the starter were cooked to perfection, we enjoyed the different flavour in it. the beef wellington taste is good, and it is very popular in the restaurant, quite a lot of guess ordering it. i think my knief has some problem to cut them. my friend chose a dessert with violet taste which recommended from a waiter. it was great combination with all flavour together. it was an enjoyable expereince, looking forward to re-visit.

Amateur staff, mediocre food and a packed and noisy « veranda ». Thie was my « Goring experience ». Now, to get more into details: As a treat to myself I had carefully chosen this renowned afternoon tea. It was a disaster from the beginning until the end. If despite this intro you still want to go: don’t be shy, you can wear any kind of sneakers/trainers, no one cares about the dresscode. Least of all the staff, as the -rather stressed and slow- waiter had forgotten to wash his trousers. And what about the waitress whose skirt’s hem was half undone. Not very « palace like » either. When ordering, I was asked about my allergies or preferences despite the fact that I had already written everything on the booking form… I found the food very average, especially the pastries that were very much on the sugar side. I had enough after two bites. As I was told I could ask for more scones/sandwiches anytime, well, I thought I could ask for another scone… it took no less than 25mn for my waiter to arrive with a plate and the scone. Too late, as after 20mn I had already asked for the bill. I think the hotel does not care about its customers who are « just » coming for an afternoon tea (and I have to say some of them are really ill-mannered but you cant chose your customers I guess). Waiters are surely not professional waiters which can be acceptable in a Starbucks. Not at the Goring’s.

We booked for afternoon tea for our wedding anniversary. On the Hotels website they suggest uploading a photo to ensure a friendly welcome … this didn’t work, we were just asked what we wanted!!! The Hotel also states a strict dress code which we adhered to, however, several of the guests who were also having tea were in sports wear and extremely scruffy !!!! The food was fine but we were constantly bothered by wasps which made everyone in the dining room very nervous as they were everywhere!!!… 2 got stuck in the jam … our waitress kept panicking as she had a phobia. The whole experience was a shambles and with the additional glass of champagne the bill was over £200 … we were very upset and nobody cared … we have eaten here many times and loved it but really it seems it’s just about money and not customer experience Ruined anniversary

When many people say to me, “British food is so bland!” I would like to point you towards: “The Goring,” where they’re systematically changing the narrative one authentic British dish at a time. I had the Cotswold Truffle Chicken which was juicy and tender with a lovely seasoned gravy and a yummy corn, truffle tartlet (dreamy & creamy)! The duck was off of the charts. The side of duck leg was mouth watering and tender! I would have loved a bit more crispness on the duck fat pieces but overall completely satisfied! Dessert was a work of art. If you want true British cuisine served old school with all the bells and whistles, this is your must Reserve stop when in London! 🥰

What a fantastic hotel The Goring is. We had booked for lunch but were going to Buckingham Palace for a tour prior to the lunch. They kindly let us leave our bags with them and then offered us a complimentary pot of tea and biscuit. Our lunch was incredible and what lovely staff. My husband had the Queen Mother’s favourite starter which includes crab and quail’s egg which was so pretty and tasty whilst I went for the risotto which was absolutely delicious. For the next course I had the lobster omelette which had a whole lobster tail with a lobster omelette on the side with baby gem lettuce with a delicious dressing and chunky chips. My husband went for the lamb rump with a lamb shoulder and leg pie and an amazing jus. Forgot to mention a delicious amouse bouche and bread with two butters. Sadly we were actually too full for the pudding. I can’t rate this restaurant and hotel highly enough. What a wonderful experience. Well done to the owners and staff for running such a superb hotel 👏👏👏.

I came here with my girlfriend for our 5th anniversary. We have been to numerous restaurants of a similar level, and this is certainly up there. Staff were friendly and attentive, and the restaurant had a very nice, calm atmosphere. We ordered the beef wellington which was incredible! a very nice touch is that it is carved in front of you. would highly recommend.

The dining room is really beautiful. Very genteel, peaceful and bright. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. They make a great old fashioned cocktail and the sommelier recommended a good burgundy to compliment the beef wellington. We were not blown away by the food. It was okay but it didn’t contain the depth of flavour, texture, colour etc that we’ve experienced in other restaurants. The theatre of fine dining was missing too … The service felt hurried. We’d barely finished our appetisers when the beef wellington was being served. It’s cut into two very large slices at the table. We requested it be cut into four as it was very thick. We asked if we could take the rest to go but that wasn’t possible. We had just finished dinner when we were asked if we would like dessert. At that point we asked to slow down. Overall the price for dinner was reasonable, but I don’t think we will return.

Mediocre - where should we start. The dining room is in need of refurbishment, the staff were standing around looking aimless, the food was good but not worthy of Michelin star, in my opinion. Sorry but for the price of the food, this was very much a disappointment.

Very disappoi ted with Afternoon Tea. I was expecting it to be expensive for this lass of hotel. But quality of sandwiches and cakes served rely average nothing special. Tea served too soon. Waited over 20 minutes for food. By then Tea cold and undrinkable. I've had better afternoon teas and cheaper than this in London. Bear in mind you are only paying for location of this hotel. Over rated. Save your money

We went for a birthday celebration meal. The menu was expensive but we knew that before we went. However the food was a small portion. We order the lobster and crab salad starter. You could hardly find any lobster meat at all. The kitchen with black truffle was also disappointing. There was hardly any truffle. My friend order some black truffle shavings as extra for his dish. It costed £10. Again £10 didn't buy any noticeable amount. Waiting was also amateurish. We used to enjoy going there but this recent visit was s total disappointment. We would not go back any time soon.

We wanted to celebrate major birthdays with a special tea. I've had tea at the Goring before and loved it. Sadly, it didn't warrant the not inconsiderable bill this time. We had to ask for milk, we had to ask for water, we had to ask for our tea to be topped up, we weren't offered refills of any of the food...the little tartlet was dull, the scones were tiny, the patisserie selection was dry...the only really delicious thing was the sandwiches. Having brought tea, the staff seemed to disappear and no-one asked how everything was. I appreciate staff are difficult to find these days but at least train them properly. Finally, we were told the bill couldn't be split for those people paying for tea only (without champagne), small niggle. The toilets (no signage and in the basement) appear to be unisex? The hotel is looking beatiful, everywhere was busy, and people will continue to go there no doubt. Not me however, nor can I recommend it to others.

My son and I ate here 31 July while on holiday. He wanted to try a French michelin star restaurant and this one came up when I searched Google. It was also within walking distance from our hotel. If you look closer, they do NOT have a michelin star and they say in their description, "michelin star service". That is false advertising! I would like to give them more than one star for the food because the food was EXCELLENT! However, the service was severely lacking and only deserves one star. I have worked as a waiter in fine dining and I frequent fine dining restaurants now so I certainly know when I am receiving poor service. The head waiter initially took our drink order and our our appetizer/entre order. Our appetizer plates sat on our table for 15 mins before being removed. After our entrees were served no one asked how our food was or checked on us. When our entrees were served my glass of wine was 2/3 empty and I was not offered another glass of wine, which I would have liked to have had. During our meal the head waiter emptied our bottle of water, never said a word to us and left. He didn't ask again how our meal was or ask if we needed anything else. I had to call him back as he was walking away to order more water. Entre plates sat on our table and the table next to us. Staff walked by several times and our dishes sat for 10 minutes on our table before being removed. There were only 8 active tables during the peak of service. A few of the tables looked like they were regulars and 3 other tables were clearly guests of the hotel. These people received excellent service from the head waiters! The head waiter was no where to be seen for long periods of time and the assistant, in the uniform, was the one doing all the work and running around taking care of all the tables by himself. Again, the food was excellent but I hope in the future everyone who walks through your doors get the five star service they deserve.

Was rejected entry because we were wearing “trainers”, even though when they sent us an email to confirm our booking they did not specifically state that their smart casual equates to no trainers. Please note that the definition of “smart casual” differs across the globe, and from where I come from, covered shoes are generally acceptable. We have rushed from a day trip out of town to this restaurant to honour our booking, and for me, it was my last night in London, so it definitely left a sour taste in my mouth and a lousy end to my trip, to be rejected entry based on a criteria that was not communicated beforehand. To make matters worse - no alternatives were provided (eg loaning of shoes to wear for our meal). It’s overall very disappointing.

Such a shame the staff is so rude and unpolite. We called to alert that we were running late with our taxi and we have been reassured that last order was at 10 pm so arrivong at 9.50 pm would not be a problem. Upon arrival we were rudely rejected as the chef was not going to cook for us as he decided to close the kitchen at 9,45 (despite the restaurant website states that the last order is at 10 and not to mention that we were reassured over the phone by the staff that the last order was at 10 pm). We had a 40 min taxi ride to get there and we were rejected with no reason despite we respected the times given by the restaurant staff. No apologies were offered, the staff was very rude in their manners. It was a terrible experience, anyone should avoid this place.

Ruined evening. Booked for 9.15 pm. Called the restaurant to advice about delay and I have been informed the kitchen was going to close at 10 pm (same information is also stated on the restaurant website). Arrived at 9.50 (10 minutes before the kitchen was going to close) and we have been unpolitely rejected only by saying that I was given a wrong information as the chef was not willing to cook for us as he closed the kitchen just 5 minutes before our arrival. We said that we were fine by ordering food immediately in order not to delay the kitchen and the staff, but the people that are supposed to welcome arriving guests did.not care at all. No apologies, no empathy. Is this the way to welcome people? Is it fair to reject with no reason guests with booking leaving them without dinner at almost 10 pm when they will not find any other restaurant open? I never received such a treatment anywhere else in the world.
