Great food, great atmosphere and friendly staff

Visited Easter Sunday . A beautiful pub restaurant very classy design. All staff polite helpful. Dinner was just cooked perfect and lots of it too. Toilets spotlessly clean. Shall visit again, bringing all the family. Ideal wedding venue too .

Absolutely brilliant as usual, fantastic service from Jason and the crew, lovely food and a great atmosphere, the service was swift and efficient and they always accommodate me in creating my usual, favourite, cajun chicken, the merlot is highly recommended also.

We had a great meal with fantastic service as always, my usual Cajun chicken was served as I like it, my wife had steamed fish which was also good. The house merlot is spot on. We returned for the bar snack menu during the week which didn't disappoint either.

This place is like a tardis! Enter through the doors, pub on left and dining hall to the right. The place is huge! Lovely polite staff that go above to help. Food is reasonable in price and quantity, and quite tasty. Nice to have a sit down meal with your family. Very child friendly. Would recommend.

Went to have our Christmas Dinner with work colleagues ☺️.

A party of five dined here this afternoon. One had the gammon, the other four had the gammon hock pie. The pastry on the pie was so hard, the mash was lukewarm and the roast potatoes tasted days old and were cold. We had more roast potatoes after complaining but these were also days old but were warmer. Very overpriced for what we had. A few of us wanted a latte only to be told that the machine had been turned off? Would not dine here again or recommend to family or friends.

Great staff. Great food and drink. No rush to leave the table. Great visit.

Went with family to masons arms pub in Bryncethin Group of 19. All food came out together . All food was delicious . Reasonably priced . The portion sizes of each meal was good. Deserts were just as delicious and again portion sizes were good . All 19 of us have left there very happy and will be returning . All staff working were very friendly and nothing was to much trouble for them they are a credit to the restaurant

Once again you did not disappoint . I like to give credit when credits due and as always 10/10 . Went here for our Sunday lunch with the family the service and food was impeccable , the waitresses went above and beyond as they always do especially Lyn who made sure that our table had everything we needed , the food was delicious and hot the Sunday roasts really are the best , look forward to many more delicious meals at the Masons

I couldn’t give this restaurant a lower rating. We attended as a family of 8 to acknowledge a difficult time. We had starters missing and all served at different times, main courses were missing and not provided. The manager tried to tell us that any missing costs were coming out of his pocket. Awful experience. I will not be returning

Stayed at the masons arms on a very busy Saturday evening. Had been a bit unsure what to expect but needed have been concerned. A group of 18 of us all with different options from the menu sat down and all the food was brought out and the same time to ensure we all ate together which I found very impressive. I had the salmon and it's safe to say it's the best food I have ever had, it was brought out very nicely prepared and the portion size was perfect. Everyone in the group was very satisfied. Our waitress Ann was very good, very attentive and friendly but not overpowering, nothing was to much trouble for her, she seemed like she really valued our custom and loved to look after people. All the staff were very hardworking, nothing was to much trouble for them. The place was very comfortable and cozy giving good vibes for a family get together. Spotless and clean. 4 of us also stayed the night, I had the deluxe room and I have to say I was very impressed, absolutely spotless clean and did not find one fault. I would definitely stay again and recommend to all my friends

A pre cinema lunch, we both had the burgers, and struggled to finish them - the dog was the happy recipient! Really well presented, and friendly staff. Good menu choice. Highly recommend

We went to the Masons last night to celebrate my wife’s 60th birthday. We were a group of 9 and most had starters all had the main meal and some had desert. Every course was bloody lovely and my starters (fisherman’s nest) was superb. Main meals disappeared very quickly as did the deserts. Staff were brilliant and all courses were brought to the table together, drinks were brought to order and tables cleared quickly. Congratulations to staff and management, we will certainly be returning.

Dreadful. Poor and very slow service. 3 hours for 3 courses??? Really disappointed, never again! The Turkey dinner arrived , it just looked as if it was thrown on the plate! Waste of money.

We have been eating at this restaurant since the late 1980's and have found it to be a place where you could have good food, drinks and excellent friendly service. Admittedly things had not been so good over the last few months, but we are glad to say that when we revisited on 10th November, all was back to the great standard we expect. A change of staff, including the re-introduction of the restaurant manager, resulted in us having a great evening. Good friendly service, good food and we'll be back there as soon as we can!

The Masons Arms is nicely decorated with an amazing outside terrace, cosy pub, a beautiful restaurant and function rooms. We have eaten here many times and have also attended several family parties (we stayed overnight at the onsite comfortable accomodation). On all occasions the staff at The Masons Arms have made us feel welcome and have gone above and beyond to ensure that our visits were perfect. During our latest visit we came for a Sunday roast dinner. There was a great selection of starters, but we decided to have just the main and dessert. We all ordered the roast beef, which was succulent and served with a Yorkshire pudding, vegetables, roast potatoes and the best gravy we have ever tasted. After the main course, we all ordered from the desserts menu and there was a great selection including cheese cake and ice cream. We received an excellent service and would definitely recommend the Masons Arms, because the staff are really friendly, the food offers excellent value for money, the venue is great for parties and the pub is family friendly.

took a mate for her birthday.Cannot fault the service..a young girl served us with curly hair..very polite and done all she could make sure we enjoyed.Food was lovely i had steak cooked to perfection..my mate had chicken but found it bit spicy she enjoyed though. The girl who served us was very good i thought she was the restaurant manager as she was very attentive and appeared to know what she was doing turns out she wasn't shame really..she could be a good asset to the business...i will definitely come back..and recommend the place..it was relaxed and chilled with us not feeling rushedShow less

Decided last minute to go for for a meal on a Saturday night!after phoning few places with no joy decided to try this place! Surprisingly had a table for 7pm.Haven’t been for few years and weren’t impressed the few times I had visited but much better than I was expecting! Had mixed seafood starter(calamari/cod bites /battered prawns) not good calamari was terrible .run out of T-bone steaks so both had the rumps and 1 medium 1 rare -both cooked perfectly and they were so tender-had the king prawns as a extra but didn’t like them-they tasted funny(obviously frozen and defrosted to quick so when cooked just went tough and didn’t hold flavour) had halloumi fries which were good and side salad:came with egg and a generous amount of mixed lettuce-best side salad ever /Had bottle of wine priced around £20 disappointed not Chardonnay on wine menu But staff pleasant and didn’t feel rushed -Left impressed all in almm on so much we will definitely be bk in nxt few weeks to check wasn’t a fluke and if not will definitely be done why I will visit often as with so many new places opened this place definitely slipped my mind!

Visited with family of 8. Were made to feel welcome and the service was exceptional from Courtney and the young gentleman. Food was amazing had a mixture of dishes and all were top class. Try the cheesecake you won’t be disappointed.

Lovely food, can’t fault the service but decor is so dated. Really think this place would have potential if they binned the ugly chairs and painted the walls.

Pre ordered a meal for me and my partner for Valentine's, they rang 2 days in advance to order and took payment, which was all good. Originally asked for 7pm delivery but the best they could offer was 6:30, which was fine. The delivery then turned up at 5:50pm while we were not expecting it and then discovered one of the main courses was completely wrong.Rang the Masons straight away and explained but the only thing they offered was for us to drive up and swap out the meal as there was no driver available, this was not an option as I had had a drink which I explained, and by the time this was done my partner's meal would've been cold. No alternative offered just a sorry.This is a real shame, as we had a delivery last summer and it was very good, today's was not as half as nice even if the order was correct.Will not be re ordering again soon.

Ordered the rib tickler when it arrived the chicken was burned black sent it back to be told they would cook me fresh,meal ended still no chicken they also didn't bring the cheesy garlic bread that we had ordered.then we ordered a rose and lemonade spritzer and a vodka and coke when drinks arrived we had a rose wine no lemonade and a vodka and lemonade not coke.staff where friendly enough but food was terrible.

We had a fantastic evening at the Masons to celebrate my husbands birthday. We felt very safe to eat out there, all of the necassary safety measures in place but still felt welcoming. The food was amazing, portions were large and of excellent quality. Staff were friendly, service was quick and cost was very reasonable. We will definitely return for another lovely evening soon.

Waited well over 1/2 hour for drinks and over 1hr for food!! I don’t need to say anything else, but put it this way, will NEVER return !!

I have been to the Masons Arms lots of times for both meals (at lunch time and in the evening) and to attend parties (including my own 40th birthday party). This is a lovely pub with a great atmosphere (one of my favourite places to eat). The service has always been great and the staff are very welcoming. There is a fantastic choice on the menu ranging from curry half and half to lamb shank. I have never been disappointed with my meal and I really love the Sunday menu, as well as the steaks.

stayed for 2 nights and eat there twice also had breakfast, Its quite centre to were we were going but i near to the outlet at Mc Arther glen. good food , good friendly staff. It has some nice cosy semi circle tables so can be romantic.

Came to The Masons for the first time today on a world do with a party of 9+ people. Place was busy which is always great to see. Everyone ordered fine. Meals came out one was completely missed (complementary drink to the person could have been offered ) One of the party had A Curry its was more of a curry sauce with bits of meat in. For an Indian dish it seemed to have been over watered. £12.95 seemed overpriced for the quality of the curry. The chips were lovely but didn’t come out straight with meals. Steaks were good. Came around to clearing the table it did take a while and we did have to go find someone to get desert menus as none was offered. £5.95 the deserts were priced at. Really beautiful and well presented. The desert chef clearly takes a lot of pride in the presentations. Based on my visit today I would come back but slight improvements needed but I’d put that down to the restaurant being so busy at this time of year.

First visit to the Masons. Even though the restaurant was busy with some large Christmas parties our party of 4 were very well looked after by the lovely Will and the rest of the staff. The food was excellent and the staff were friendly helpful and efficient. We will definitely go there again.

We were a large party of approximately 20, service was great, the staff were pleasant and the food was delicious with generous portions, the only thing that could have been I.proved in was that the chips were served separately and there was a bit of a delay being served the chips rather than altogether with the rest of the food, however I would definitely return and the prices were reasonable.

Visited on Saturday 9th Nov and had a lovely meal at lunchtime. Good menu, choice lovely food and good service. Highly recommend.

Arrived at 7pm 20 minutes later got the menu placed order for drinks they were brought to the table and practically thrown at us. Starter ok main course was half an hour later one steak was so well done it was like a piece of leather the other steak was under cooked very rare when we asked for medium rare no staff to complain to had to ask for dessert menu dinner took 4hr hrhours her

Five of us stayed 2x nights for a family wedding, everything from breakfast to the wedding sit-down meal to our evening meal was top notch. Best quality home cooked food, large portions, fair prices. Best of all was the exceptional service we received from all staff throughout our stay, in particular a friendly face we saw frequently during our stay, Will, went above an beyond the level of service you would expect from anywhere respectable. They are all just so lovely, approachable & friendly, and my single room was perfect, they really value thier guests here. Thank you

Checking was easy. The room was comfortable. The bed was comfortable and I slept well. The food in the restaurant was very nice. The breakfast was delicious

We had an excellent stay most weekends in July 2019. We were doing up our house in PontyRhyl and this was the BEST BnB locally.

Visited this resturant last week to celebrate our 48yr anniversary could not fault the quality and variety of food choices it was the nicest meal we have enjoyed in a long time I would reccommend this eating place 5* and will definatly be returning again as soon as able well done Masons Arms

Stayed here for 1 night rooms are nice,evening meals absolutely gorgeous, breakfasts amazing and staff can't do enough for you and make you feel very welcome we will be back thank you all very much.

Please please, more chips, portions are too small, we used to get loadsin a silver dish, now its little chip baskets, hardly any chips, bring back big portions.

I came here for my birthday meal and we had fantastic service!! The waiter realised I didn't have a birthday cake and he brought me out a slice of cheesecake with a candle on (free) and started to sing happy birthday! Was a lovely experience and a great atmosphere all around :-)

We were so impressed with the food at this resturant, not only was it good quality, but the portions were huge. Real value for money and the staff couldn't do enough for us. We had a bit of a wait for the food, but the wait was well worth it. We highly recommend this place, well worth a visit.

Have visited this establishment several times. Sunday last was very disappointed, my chicken masala was made with pre-diced frozen chicken some of which was chewey.

We celebrated my sisters 70th birthday and the food was fabulous. They were very good with catering for dietary needs

Food just ok!! long wait and terrible service...won't be back!! Waited nearly 40 minutes for 1 meal then when arrived not hot only luke warm told waiter was offered a replacement it told I would need to wait 30 mins. Didn't have time to wait so just ate it. Won't be back!

Had food at Mason Arms Aberkenfig . Staff brilliant. We waited 2 hours for our food . Meat delicious but veg over cooked . Won't be going back . The problem was over booking .

Visited this evening with my wife, where I had the fillet steak and she had the sirloin along with peppercorn sauce and sides. We could not fault it as the food was excellently cooked and service great. We have eaten at Marco Pierre whites and the Ivy in London but I must admit I prefer the Masons. Thanks folks

I'm going to say it - This is the best place to go for a meal in Bridgend. Whether you're dining as a couple or in a group, nothing is too much for these guys. The food never disappoints in terms of portion size, taste and value. Every member of staff here are professional and a credit to this bar/restaurant. You may have to reserve a table if you want to dine on the weekends but that shows how popular this place is. During the week you can just walk in and eat. I live in Ogmore Vale but will always consider this place 'my local' despite there being at least 9 pubs closer to me. If you haven't been here, come try it for yourself. Top marks every single time

Good atmosphere, very good staff .went there for grandsons 18th birthday, good selection on the menu, service prompt although there were 12 of us received our meals same time without waiting to long. Thought some of the prices were a bit expensive but the quality was good parking was a bit scarce in main car park but there is available parking just around the corner.

We called in one evening and managed to get a table. We were told they had a couple of large tables which had just ordered so there could be a bit of a wait, we waited a long time and ended up going to look for a waiter. I ordered fish and chips and the fish was huge and really nice, the chips were suppose to be triple cooked but they were far from it I they really needed to be cooked more and were not very warm.

We were told before we went for lunch here that the portions are huge, and they sure are! We didn't have breakfast before going because of this, and we were so full after our lunch that none of us could eat dinner either. We ordered two of the Jack Black burgers and one fish and chips. Everything was freshly cooked to order. Staff are very friendly.

We had booked this visit about six weeks prior to our visit, we expect that our visit to the Masons would be for the three course Christmas diner. We payed a £50 deposit expecting our three course Christmas diner.

We had a meal booked for last Sunday at 2 pm for five people.

Went for meal with relatives who we had invited we had gammon which was very salty fresh pineapple was very hard chicken breast very small lanb shank not much meat on it all in all was not worth the money paid, service was quick and everyone polite would not go there again.

met family here with some small children all enjoyed the food I especially liked the steak and ale pie the children tucked into pasta and meatballs nice meal

Its been a while since we visited the Masons Arms and am I glad we did - we were met by really friendly staff not just one but all of them - place still has its charm and although we had to sit in the Conservatory because we booked late it was still a lovely experience but will book early next time to sit in the beautiful restaurant. Our Sunday roast came with all the trimmings and it was the best Sunday dinner I have tasted for a very long time when dining out - no hesitation to top up our gravy boat and the meal was soooo tasty: Won't be leaving it so long before visiting you again.

Went to the masons for my 50th birthday last night, 12 of us. We had a mixture of steaks, gammon, fish and chips, lasagne and chicken between us and every single one of the dishes was spectacularly delicious. We ordered sides of garlic bread which is quite possibly the best garlic bread I’ve ever tasted and onion rings. Everyone had chips which are homemade and delicious, I had steak and my plate was dressed in balsamic vinegar which went so well . Absolutely beautiful meal. Everyone of us enjoyed. Looking forward to our next visit.

Great food but stop serving after 2.30pm

This was a last minute booking and from what we saw it was lucky that we managed to get a table. Very busy but not so that you feel on top of each other as the inside is huge Not what you’d expect from outside. Roast lunch was fantastic. Plenty of meat and veg and very tasty. Service is some of the best I’ve seen in a long time, the hosts obviously enjoy working there and it shows in their interaction with customers. Definitely a hidden gem and a place I will visit again.

Attended with a group of friends for a catch up. Food was outstanding! I had steak which was by far the best I have ever had. Not a single complaint throughout the whole night, very impressed

We regularly go to the Masons the roof and drink are fab plus service is always the best. The waiters always go the extra mile making the whole experience very special!!!

This excellent pub was always our go to place for a meal locally. The staff are excellent and this is The Masons finest asset .

Very comfortable environment and the service was good. However, the food was very bland and overpriced. I ordered Steak and Chips which cost £16.95. The meal was served with no sauce (£2.50 extra) and no side salad. But they did include 2 small mushrooms!! I will not be visiting again in future and would not recommend the place.

Very comfortable and pleasant lunchtime atmosphere. Menu varied and food tasty. Pudding - the cherry cheesecake - a mouthwatering delight. The service very good and prices reasonable. Recommended.

The Masons is a lovely pub. The food is excellent. I have been there many times. The service is always excellent and it is well decorated. The locals always go there for a special occasion as it can be quite pricey (worth the money though)
