Dropped on this pub on the way to our holiday destination as we needed some lunch. Got a warm welcome and really nice ‘snack’ food. I had jacket potato with bolognaise which was plentiful and tasted lovely, whilst my friends had a variety of hot sandwiches. Well priced and not a long wait. Would recommend.

Obviously fine dining not available in Wellingore. Being gluten free my choices were limited but i had 'chicken bacon and stilton'. My husband fish pie. Mine was a flattened chicken breast with two pieces of bacon on top accompanied by a strange white sauce with vague cheese flavour, a basket of chips and tinned peas and tasteless carrots. My husbands fish pie was Ok but came with extra mash on the side and same tinned peas!?!? Desserts were ice cream for me-OK and bread and butter pudding for husband which was enormous, boiling hot and lots of fruit {best part of dinner}. There was a strange smell throughout pub. Not one I will return to.

We visited 'on spec'. We were welcomed and taken to a table and ordered drinks. The Wainwright bitter was well kept, and the Sauvignon Blanc was of good quality. For main course we had Hunter's chicken and lambs' liver and bacon. Both dishes were good and hot and served with numerous veg and chips - overall very delicious. The staff added character to the establishment to complete our very enjoyable visit. Will certainly revisit.

First the plus... we asked for them to arrange a birthday cake for us and the cake they sourced was both beautiful to look at and tasted great. Really lovely! The booking was to celebrate an 80th birthday as the birthday girl has eaten here for the last several decades and the food has always been to a great standard. However both service and food was poor. There was only one other table in the restaurant section we were in so it wasn’t overly busy. We booked for 7 but was still waiting for main meals at 8.40. Everything was painfully slow. Several waitresses on but they paid very little attention to the table as they were often chatting and on phones. We had to keep asking if we could please order drinks etc The starters came out but the staff didn’t know what they were. When asked who it was for...we asked what was on the plate so we could point them to the right person.. they said they didn’t know! Two of the starters went back for being cold. They have stuffed squid on the menu so we asked what it was stuffed with... they said ‘nothing’. My husband had finished his main meal by the time the last ones were served. The lamb

Whilst visiting the area we phoned to ask if they served food all day, the lady said up until 300 but would happily serve us at 3. The lunch menu was small but had a good choice. They had run out of scampi but an alternative was ordered. All meals were freshly cooked and looked and tasted fine. The fish was fab as was the lasagne and the baguette was also ok. Desserts were ordered, including cheesecake. When they came again were ok but the cheesecake although very well presented was 2 tiny cheesecakes, only just over an inch in diameter, more for a child than an adult. We will certainly return but maybe skip the cheesecake.

This was the worst experience myself and husband went through..This being our first visit to this pub. 29th September 2018.A Saturday night at 19.30..bar not busy restaurant busyish but not overall packed,we asked to young bar staff for a table as we wished to order a meal we were taken into a back room which was sparse and unwelcoming we felt this was going to be a huge mistake as the young girl could not get 2 simple drinks we had ordered correctly one being half a lager and lime(with a straw!!) the other a Becks Blue...eventually half a lager came no straw then came with an ordinary Becks not non alcoholic..we asked for the Becks blue the girl said they had none so why offer someone an alcoholic drink??? We then asked for a menu to our delight a scrap bit off paper was handed not 2 even so my partner could have one but the menu was for Sunday lunches!!!...We decided not to dine as I commented to the inexperienced staff that we felt this was going to be a huge mess up and mistake dining...Tried to pay for the 2 drinks young lad had problems counting couldn't even tell us what the drinks bill was before taking our money but to get change from a £20 note is another story...we decided to book a table to next village we often dine and had a very pleasant and professional service!!...The owners or landlords should never leave 2 inexperienced bar staff very bad experience..never again

I stay very rarely in the UK and only normally review my accommodation when semi back packing around the world (I am 63) as you can pick up so much good information from Tripadvisor, so I like to try and help others. I am only doing this review because Pauline the landlady was a lovely lady, and made a gentle hint when I was talking to another TR club member staying at The Marquis of Granby about last year’s accommodation, at TR Malvern which I did not review, but was very good. I did not know if I was going to the TR Register car club at Lincoln show ground so did very little research beforehand, but I thought what accommodation I did find was expensive. I did not find this accommodation, I had booked somewhere else with Hotels.com very late, despite phoning that accommodation and told all was good, the next day Hotels.com told me it was double booked, and would find me somewhere else and they would pay any extra cost. I will leave the cost of the room up to you to judge, but it was lower than most others I could find. I would have to agree the room was quiet dated as was the bathroom, very often the case in this price range, I know Paul and Pauline wont to update when money allows, being a retired carpenter I know how expensive this is and they have only been there 2 years. The bar and restaurant areas where nice and comfortable The room is only a part of the experience. First I won’t clean sheets they were spotlessly white and you could smell how clean they were, hot water loads of it. The 2 young barmaids/waitresses were lovely and very helpful, the same with the young lady chef who cooked me a fantastic steak and ale pie, I have never had so much meat in a pie before, I was pleased to be able to tell her in person. Saturday morning Pauline cooked me a lovely breakfast, and Paul did the same Sunday. I only won’t to sleep in the room nothing else. This is a lovely village. As you can tell I would happily stay there again.

Following a recommendation from a friend who is a Wellingore local my partner and I decided to choose this venue for our evening meal this evening travelling from Sleaford. We wish we never bothered!! We were seated to our table and left. We waited approx. 25 minutes before my partner had gone to the bar for his 2nd pint where he asked if someone was available to take our food order. We sat and watched as other couples were served and offered drinks as we were being ignored. My partner went and ordered his third pint, still no food. 40 minutes after placing our order we still had not received our meals and therefore left. We are extremely disappointed that we had a wasted journey and will certainly not be recommending this venue to anyone in the future. We arrived back in Sleaford and thoroughly enjoyed a meal at the Carre Arms instead. We will not be returning to Wellingore

Great honest food, beer and service with a real friendly family feel. The kitchen and staff did a great job serving our dining room filling, hungry party with an excellent Sunday lunch. Good choices for starter, main and desert. I had the beef which was tender and perfectly pink - not an easy thing to do when serving the whole dining room in one go and others often don't achieve this when just serving one table at a time. Kids had chicken which was moist and delicious with generous helpings all round. Others had pork or salmon but they didn't want to share! Chocolate fudge cake, apple pie and custard, lemon cheesecake were an ideal finish.

Recently visited the Marquis of Granby in Wellingore for a meal. Nice to be seated in a separate restaurant area. The menu is varied and there are specials to choose from as well. The food was very nice, both in taste and presentation and, to top it off, the very palatable house rose wine was £3.50 for a 250ml glass. We have already booked for their Christmas menu in December. Well done the Marquis of Granby.

Visited the pub with my partner and parents, we all live in the near by area so its lovely to have a welcoming well kept village pub on our door step. My parents have visited before and had a really good meal so I was keen to see what the newly renovated Marquis would be like. The new owners have done a splendid job of bringing life and character back into the old pub. The land lady who served us throughout the evening was most hospitable and clearly cared a great deal about customer service and attention to detail. The food itself was to high standard for a village pub, I had the steak which was cooked to perfection and the Stilton sauce was excellent. The sticky toffee pudding was spot on and the custard that accompanied had an excellent consistency. I am pleased to say everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals and I know we will be calling back again in the near future.

First time visit to the Marquis on a Friday night to try out the 2 for £12 menu in replacement of the 2 for £10 chain restaurant we usually visit, we thought it would be good to try somewhere new and support a smaller, local growing pub. I was very disappointed to find that the 2 for £12 menu was purely fish. And as someone who does not eat fish, and only eats meat at a push thought that this was a bit unfair for vegetarians who do not eat fish as it seems that their needs weren't being included in the deal, and that they were somewhat being penalised and charged extra to order from the other menu. The regular menu was okay, but not that much variety. However I can say that the food that I received was very lovely, and of a good quality! The only thing I could suggest is that it might have been nice to have a salad garnish with my burger as opposed to just burger and chips. Overall, it was a really nice welcoming location for a cosy pub meal but it would be very difficult to make this my regular Friday night outing because the variety is so limited. I appreciate that the pub is newly reopened and they have a lot more to do, so hopefully I will be able to visit again and see what changes have been made!

I used this hotel for a two night business trip in Lincoln itself, around a fifteen minute drive away from Wellingore. The pub is tired & in need of someone buying it & doing some updating to brighten it up. It comes across as a typical locals bar; although the people I met were very friendly. The room was spacious & clean with a nice comfy bed. & for what I paid I had no grumbles. The owner did explain that he was no longer doing food any more, but honoured the fact that I had booked prior to this change of policy. I had a substantial breakfast which was fine.At the time the owner was looking to sell so a new purchaser may well breathe some fresh life into the place. However, for the money & the fact that it was just a couple of overnight stays for business it was fine & represented good value for money
