Butcher and Beast Heighington in North Kesteven

Muy buen pub local que sirve muy buen almuerzo del domingo, toda una joya de un pub en un pequeño pueblo. Obviamente un lugar popular como restaurante totalmente reservado para el domingo, así que tuvimos que comer en el bar. Sabroso almuerzo tradicional de domingo con porciones decentes, con carne adicional como extra pagado. Dos pequeñas quejas, que podrían ser fácilmente subsanadas. En primer lugar la comida se enfrió bastante rápido, aunque era un día frío y no muy cálido en el bar. Tal vez calentar más los platos antes de servir sería bueno. En segundo lugar, la mesa era pegajosa, pero quizás eso fue porque comimos en el bar, de cualquier manera no es demasiado difícil limpiar bien las mesas. En general sin duda recomendaría.

Estábamos deseando nuestro almuerzo, pero desafortunadamente no fue una buena experiencia. Preguntamos si la carne estaba roja, y nos dijeron que NO. Apenas pudimos cortar nuestra carne. También era tibio. Nuestras comidas fueron devueltas para recalentar. Aún no es aceptable, no volverá o recomendará, tristemente. . . . .

Lovely meal May 2025. Best Steak and Ale pie I've ever had and everyone else had good things to say too. Good value also.

Agradable pub del pueblo con personal atento. Bonito interior para los meses de invierno, pero la cervecería es una necesidad para el verano. Buena selección de cervezas y sidras. Solo desventaja posiblemente debido al personal limitado, las mesas se pueden dejar desordenadas durante demasiado tiempo antes de que los próximos clientes usen, pero de lo contrario un encantador pub de pueblo social.

Good pub beer, food, people & atmosphere.

Fui a cenar aquí esta noche y llevé a mi familia que está de visita desde Leeds. Es la primera vez que hemos estado desde que la nueva dirección y el nuevo jefe de cocina Jackson ha asumido el cargo, y estamos muy contentos de haber elegido aquí! La comida era excepcional (pastel de caña de cordero increíble, y el bistec y pastel de cerveza! ) , todos disfrutaron tanto de entrantes y principales, las porciones eran generosas pero no abrumadora, y el servicio era brillante también. Lo recomiendo encarecidamente y sin duda volveremos : )

Just enjoyed an early dinner at the Butcher & Beast. The food was wonderful - beautifully prepared and tasted amazing. My husband’s sweet potato dahl was in his words “loaded and full of flavour” and there were clear plates all round. We had such great service too - welcoming and relaxed and we appreciated the recommendations they made. Will definitely be back!

El mejor asado en kilómetros, mi familia y yo vinimos hoy para una cena de asado, con las manos abajo de una de las mejores comidas que hemos tenido fuera. El servicio era genial también, lo que una joya oculta

First day of the new menu by the new chef Jackson and will definitely be returning. So nice to now have a pub in the village that does great food. Well done!

Arrived Friday lunchtime for a birthday meal for my wife and myself. Not busy at this time of day but service was great and the food even better. The steak and ale pie was top notch and my wife's steak and chips was just as good. Staff were very friendly and the chef came out to wish my wife a happy birthday. Unfortunately we learnt the chef was leaving after 25 years but let's hope her replacement is as good!

Called in with my husband as heard jackson had just started, faultless as usual followed this chef around for years and always comes out to our table to check we’re okay and say hello, service 10/10 also, maybe a new Sunday thing, 25 mile drive worth it 👍🏻

Decidimos probar el Carnicero y Bestia para el almuerzo dominical de esta semana y fue una gran elección. La cena de ternera era realmente deliciosa y la hamburguesa clásica y patatas fritas con un tazón de ensalada de col se veía increíble y aparentemente sabía muy bien también. El asado vino en un plato cubierto en su mayoría de carne con un enorme pudín de Yorkshire, patatas asadas y bola de relleno. Un tazón de verduras frescas cada uno y una gran jarra de salsa cada uno. Nos trajeron una botella de agua que se rellenó si era necesario. El personal y el gerente son un grupo encantador y amable. Con todo vale la pena el viaje para probar el almuerzo del domingo y no nos decepcionó. Desafortunadamente no tuvimos espacio para el postre, pero tal vez la próxima vez 😀

Was on of the best Sunday carvery’s I have had in a longtime even my wife’s vegetarian chestnut was amazing (I tasted it) would recommend especially if the manager is in the kitchen her food was amazing. All of the staff were great as well. Thanks Again

12 months and 2 landlords after my first review (below), we visited to sample the lunch time offer of 2 course lunch including a pint of selected drinks. We both had soup of the day (tomato), i had lasagne and Sue had fish and chips. Plates and the food were hot. The Batemans XB was well presented as was the Aspall cyder. Service, ambiance and clientele were welcoming. We will visit more often. 5 of us visited for lunch today. 2 salads were OK but I would have liked a couple of new potatoes with my chicken and bacon salad as with the salmon salad. Chips were disappointingly limp and overcooked, fish finger wrap was OK but burger was disappointingly small when compared with the beasty burger and blue cheese served up by previous landlord. A pity as this used to be our go-to pub for a meal.

We had the Branston Bowls Club Annual Dinner on 7th December and there were 19 very satisfied customers.

Live music. Clean. Friendly staff. Open fire. Plenty of room but still cosy.

We had hunters chicken and pies all were delicious. Parking was good. Very cold in the restaurant. A couple of hiccups with booking time and not being able to pay by card which held us up getting food.

We are on holiday and went for a meal. The food was great and the lady that served us was lovely. We had a lovely evening

Fairly local to us, so we come here often. A proper Lincolnshire Batemans pub, serving a good range of their ales and the food is always good. Dog friendly and they let people in too! Excellent pub!

Sentados en un pub de la competencia pensando en el error que habíamos cometido, cerveza como diluida Shandy, sin coca de dieta y muy limitada elección de alimentos. Espera! Déjame llamar al Carnicero y la Bestia y ver si hay alguna manera de que puedan acomodar a 9 adultos, un niño de 5 años y un niño pequeño para una comida dentro de media hora... ¡Una gran pregunta! La señora en el teléfono era cortés servicial y lo arregló para nosotros, "aunque podríamos tener un poco de retraso debido a todos los clientes pre-reservados". No es un problema que dije, reunimos a nuestro grupo y dijimos que no nos quedaríamos en nuestro lugar de comida original. ¡Decir que no batieron un párpado es una eufemismo! Entramos en el Carnicero, nos sentamos en un espacio espacioso e incluso tuvimos una puerta abierta a un poco de hierba para dejar que los niños despegaran un poco de vapor. El servicio fue excelente, sin huecos en la oferta de cerveza o refrescos, y solo algunos cambios muy menores en el menú de alimentos. Todos conseguimos lo que pedimos, a su debido tiempo, hacía calor donde era necesario y todos estuvimos de acuerdo sabía muy bien. Fantástica comida, nos hizo la noche y no podemos agradecer a todo el equipo de turno Mié 14 de agosto de 2024 lo suficiente para hacer ir más allá y hacer que sea una comida muy buena para nosotros!

We've loved this pub for years. It always had great food, great beer and a lovely, warm atmosphere.It changed hands a while back and, though I hate to say it, has changed so much we won't be coming back. It still has great beer and pleasant staff but the food has deteriorated markedly and is now no more than o.k. at best. Others seem to fel the same as us because, on the last two occasions we have been, the pub has been almost empty! The new owners are lovely and have invested a lot to improve the place. It has had a revamp and is now fresher, cleaner and much more modern. Even the loos are much, much better! The owners deserve to do well but in making these imrpovements a lot of the charm of the old place has been lost. 'Sterile' rather than warm and friendly is how it might be best described now. It's a pity but, in trying to improve things, the owners have lost the USP of the pub they took over and it has no more appeal than hundreds of other run-of-the-mill pubs that are also, sadly, destined for demise.

Popped in on a Saturday lunchtime. The gammon egg n chips was quite possibly the best gammon I have ever tasted. I have no idea what the chef added or what they did, but it was delicious, and a healthy portion size too. A very potile and attentive front of house staff member completed a very pleasant all round experience.

Enjoyed the visit, atmosphere was good, service was great. Food was good, starters of mushrooms and fish cakes were great, the salad could of done with a dressing on though as they were bland. Mains, fish and chips excellent, great portion size and tasty, mince meat pie and mash- veg was bland, not sure on the mash, it wasnt fresh so was really thick, had a instant smash vibe with loads of butter, pie seemed quite salty that it was over seasoned,

Nice meal, pleasant country pub

Just been for a Sunday lunch with the other half and what can I say well it was a massive waste of time the food was inedible the roast potatoes was soggy on the outside and almost raw in the middle and tasted like the came out of the microwave the stuffing balls wasn't even cooked the meat as dry as an old bone, just walked out very sad

Traditional pub with lovely food. Dog friendly and staff were friendly and attentive. Sunday roast was delicious with reasonable prices.

Great local pub with a nice atmosphere, lovely food and good choice of beers.

6 of us popped in for a quick pint before evening meal at home. We were all taken by the friendly atmosphere so decided to order our tea there. All meals were spot on, served without delay & in a friendly & courtiers way. We shall return.

Very disappointing food and atmosphere in the bar, chips black, meat tough and vegetables virtually non existent. Owner guy a bit strange, think he is new since last going, staring at people and not really making a welcoming feeling. Very disappointing return and not coming back under current ownership.

Took visiting son from Australia for traditional Sunday Roast. Was embarrassing. Fatty lamb heaped in a pile Cold carrots Roast potatoes cooked to a crisp Cauliflower cheese in milk not sauce Gravy like tea. Wish we’d walked out. So disappointing

From start to finish unbelievable. Really friendly welcome dog made to feel welcome as well and the food was absolutely unbelievable. Will definitely be recommending to others and will definitely be back. Very fairly priced as well !

Booked a table this evening and was happy ro know they were dog friendly. From start to finish it was a lovely experience. Staff were very friendly and the food was incredible! Sorry to say Sunday lunch was poor under cooked beef and was tuff. But on menu it said jam roly poly But when it came it was jam Swiss roll cut into 3 slice, which was cold with warm custard. Nothing like a jam rolly poly. All for £7 pounds. Not impressed.

I had a pulled pork wrap that was hard to eat the meat was so dry we could hardly swallow it !disappointing

The beer is excellent as is the ambience. We had an amazing xcellent lunch well prepared and presented. The staff are friendly so it all added up to a great lunch break. Strongly recommend. Not a bit like the Slaughtered Lamb pub!!!

Lovely local pub but absolutely shocking food. Cranberry and Turkey baguette was tough and dried out. Chips smothered in salt and pre frozen. Nothing fresh at all on the plate and all for £8. Would certainly not go back.

Went for christmas meal the food was very poor small amount turkey 1 stuffing ball small piece broccoli and a few battons of carrot roast potatoes gravy no pigs in blankets or Brussels no parsnips or yorkshires.The christmas loaf was dreadful .Very disappointed for the price

Went for a Christmas meal. Starters alright. Main meal, no Brussels, no parsnips or pigs in blankets. Not really Christmas meal. Deserts sticky toffee pudding was good but Christmas loaf was strange and not pleasant. Drinks was good and service was good.

Very disappointed in meals, very small portions..Xmas Dinner. turkey, few bits broccoli, few carrotts, 1 stuffing ball few roast potatoes....no mash no pigs in blankets no yorksire pudding , nut roast not good. Cheese cake..2 mouthfuls and it was gone...

Attended my friends wedding reception here. Buffet was lovely, plenty for everyone, and when asked, they even did something else for a guest who was vegetarian. Staff friendly and nothing was too much trouble.

Having not eaten here for sometime we were not disappointed. Apricot chicken with Wensleydale apricot cheese sauce. What a great combo. Allergens no problem. Will return.

At the end of a long day’s cycling, the Beast Burger sounded like just the job - and did not disappoint when it arrived. Great real ales too - their own Batemans and Timothy Taylors as the guest. Definitely recommended

My first time in the place but my wife and daughter have been in the village pub in the past.

Wasn't at all happy we had family staying with us and I had been told that this was the place to go I booked this a week in advance when we arrived we was told there was only a limited amount of food left there excuse was they had a big walk in and this is why they hadn't got enough food which was a very and poor excuse after us booking a week in advance so I find it very hard to score as out of 5 it would be a zero it was our first and it will be our last

Accommodated 15 of us as a walk in. Told we would have to wait a while for food but we really wasn't kept waiting long. Excellent service, food was extremely good. Friendly, very helpful and polite staff. Shame we don't live nearer as we would make this a regular visit. Thanks very much.

The Butcher and Beast in Heighington has recently changed management with Alex and Allen taking over. Alex and Allen are taking the time to see what works and first impressions are it is working very well. There is a very good selection of beers and I have not been disappointed in their condition. The team behind the bar and working in the restaurant are happy and pleasant to be around. Regarding the food, well where do I start? The new chef, Lenny, obviously has skill and takes the time to discuss the food if you can make the effort to engage with him. We have eaten his food several times and have always been thoroughly impressed with the quality, flavour, and presentation. There are often specials which offer traditional and sometimes something a little unusual such as Cajun spiced haloumi skewers; these were really very good. To summarise, if you want to experience excellent food at very realistic prices, please give the pub a go. You may have to book or be a little patient if you just turn up, but I feel you should not be disappointed.

Had a meal in the dining room. Only one of the three listed non alcoholic beers was available. There was no fish, crumble and several other dishes that were listed on the menu. Was a great pub in the past but won’t rush back. We explained our concerns to the waitress but to no avail.

Visited this quant family run pub with the family to celebrate a birthday. The atmosphere was excellent and the staff provided a swift and professional service. Above all the meals were excellent. The family had a variety of meals off the menu, I personally had fish, chips and mushy peas which was superb. All the family commented on how good their meals were. One of the family had curry which was exceptional. I would recommend this quaint family run pub to anyone and would like to offer our compliments to the management team, staff and in particular the chef. Highly recommended.

Really enjoyable meal, booked for a large table and we ended up being late (our fault) staff couldn’t have been nicer or more accommodating about it, food was really good and staff friendly, also enjoyed the quiz night. Good parking. Would recommend.

Decent country pub with good food at reasonable price

I don't know how this place got such rave reviews. The lunch was awful and beer tasted like a mix of cider and soap. Staff were nice enough, but the food was just bland.

Today had Sunday lunch here on reccomendation from my granddaughter ,it was absolutely lovely,We had a roast beef dinner which was very good,Yorkshire pudd,roast and new potatoes cauli carrots and peas.with lovely gravy. We had a medium size meal which was plenty ,after a short break we had dessert,i had chocolate brownie sundae and my husband had fruit crumble and custard.both excellent , all in all satisfaction all round. Reccomended to anyone ,and we will certainly go again. Staff were very attentive too which is nice.

Used to be our favourite local pub until they cancelled our Wedding Reception 3 weeks before our big day. Cancelled via email too, not even so much as a phone call to apologise. Thankfully another local venue stepped in and ensured we had a fantastic day, despite having to rearrange everything with 3 weeks notice. We haven't been back to this pub since pre wedding and to be honest we don't really want to.

Came in with wife and son for an informal early dinner. Great food, especially the gammon steak, although the burger was superb too. New owners doing all the right things!

Great food but unhelpful staff. Our table placement wasn’t carefully thought out as some of our party had their backs to each other.

Quaint pub in the picturesque village of Heighington . The food is good and they offer great range of beers cocktails and wines . The staff were really friendly . I like the atmosphere.

Tonight the Butchers has reopened under new management. Good luck & look forward to many social drinks with fresh management

Sorry to say, not a pleasant experience. Waited a long time for food. Husbands steak was very gristley. My potato skins were just one small potato with brown edged lettuce and a black hair for £7. Owner said sorry but offered nothing off our meal. Won't be returning

As the title says - cheap frozen food. Would rather places like this were just honest - just charge a bit extra and serve people a decent meal versus trying to palm off lazy kiddies frozen food options on adults. Last time visiting this place...
