Lovely burger and a great atmosphere, we had tea and watched the Euros. Everyone was friendly and the food was delicious with great portion sizes.

First visit to Stafford for us and we were delighted to find this pub. friendly staff, really great burgers and a lovely feel to the place. Prices were very reasonable too. Definitely would recommend and will return.

What a fantastic atmosphere, Bar staff are very friendly from the moment you walk through the door. Plenty of seats and tables , The Burgers are amazing surrounded by fresh fries and coleslaw. Been her a few times and will definitely coming back. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Well Done team 👏👏

Great pub, friendly welcome. If you want a burger in Stafford this is the place to come. All homemade with cracking rustic fries and house slaw.

There’s nothing negative you could say about the Market Vaults. This is a smart, tidy and very cosy traditional pub serving excellent beers. The service was good and the eclectic music stream was pleasant without being intrusive. We were only in for drinks but I must say that the food we saw being served looked very good as well. This is a really nice, local pub.

The barman who was working at the time, was rude and self centred, I have not been back since and will not until the staff change and most of the rude customers have gone.

Will never visit again. (although we didn't visit long last time), and i don't like to leave bad reviews but... We had booked a table for 7 people at 7pm on Saturday the 28th of January. On arrival we proceeded to order drinks and asked for food menus which we were informed were on the bar. After a total of 5 minutes deliberation we attempted to order food at 7.10pm but as the lady behind the bar got her pen out, another staff member said no they've decided to close the kitchen early. (apparently at 7pm, the same time they were happy to take our booking for). Also why point out the menus if you don't intend to serve food? Or make people aware on arrival ? We then had to finish our drinks (we had only just ordered) and move on to another venue to attempt to find food on a Saturday night, which is a shame as we would have stayed for multiple drinks and a meal for 7. I would not be happy if I was the owner. Perhaps this place does the best burger in stafford, but sadly you will have to go when it apparently suits the kitchen team.

Service was very good. I am still not sure if my burger was cooked. I am happy to have a burger pink in the middle but the burger was pink/ red all the way through. The barman said it was supposed to be like that and the meat was cured? I would have felt better if there was a warning about this on the menu to give reassurance. Taste was great for everything else but I couldn’t eat the patty

This isn't my first review in the last 7 years...the vaults has always served great food but the classic burger and fries they're serving now is the best burger I've ever tasted. My partner agreed and my 13 year old son says "better than five guys". 👍👍👍👍👍

Rude 'locals' who simply feel it's okay to jump the queue, but the barman's attitude was worse as he decided who to serve next. We won't be going in there again.

Had always rated the burgers here, but went for a hot dog on this visit. Excellent quality, as there always is from this venue.

The Bratwurst dog was exceptional with a little curry powder in the tomato sauce to give it a little kick. Homemade slaw makes all the difference. Not expensive and absolutely recommend if you’re in town. 🙌

First visit to the Market Vaults in some time. Covid compliant with full table service. Enjoyed a few pints alongside an extremely tasty and filling burger. Great service. Great atmosphere, and very busy evening.Faye and Jay are doing a great job. We’ll definitely be back for more of the same!

Same great food .....they really are the best burgers in Stafford...and now a few different options that I cant wait to try. I had the NY deli burger ...big in size and flavour...but also quite light and fresh. Can't wait to try some of the other offerings particularly the currywurst. This is a great friendly little pub under new management and still retaining the "welcome" feeling that we've become used to at the Vaults

Pubs and restaurants should be welcoming and friendly.The guy running this pub couldn’t be further from the term ‘hospitality’. He had all the charm and warmth of a dead dog, choosing to be rude and aggressive from the outset.I certainly won’t be spending any money in this pub from now on. Plenty of better options in the town. Shame as it used to be a good little pub.

I visited here for a family meal last night, after reading great reviews of "the best burgers in Stafford".I fail to see what all the fuss was about! The burgers fries sounded and looked great on paper but the delivery and presentation was poor. The burgers were small did not look like the menu photos and as I had expected. Will definitely not be visiting this establishment again.

Dog friendly pub with friendly staff, good ale and great food. I went for the classic burger which was superb while my wife went for the cajun chicken grill which she thoroughly enjoyed. Will definitely be back!

This pub makes the best burgers. They serve vegan, vegetarian, and straight up beef selections. Enjoy a drink or more from the bar.

Been here quite a few times, every single time the food has been spot on.The staff are friendly and service is flawless.The burgers are immense and huge but they do a lunchtime smaller version which is great.Also most times we have visited with a pushchair and staff have helped us with this x

We visited for dinner after work. Food was lovely, my only suggestion would be proper napkins. By the time dinner was over the place was packed so I’m glad we got there early enough.

We visited for my daughters birthday as she requested somewhere that sold burgers. After a bit of research, this place came up. We ordered a variety of burger types; standard beef burgers which my daughter and husband enjoyed, chicken burger which my daughters friend demolished and I chose vegetarian version of the foragers fungi. I have to say this was the most amazing veggie burger I think I’ve ever eaten! The chef cooks them from scratch and from the sound of it they vary each time. The burger element was like an onion bajji and it was beautiful. The service was great too, very friendly. We will definitely visit again.

I visited here for lunch today with my dad and my daughter, after reading great reviews of "the best burgers in Stafford".Frankly I fail to see what all the fuss was about! The burgers and dirty fries sounded great on paper but the delivery and presentation was poor. The burgers were not homemade as I had expected, the skin on fries were shoestring fries and tasteless and the topping on the loaded fries was mushy and slopped on. Will definitely not be visiting this establishment again.

As a Stafford born expat living in Australia, when I come home I want two things: to feel right back at home in stafford and to show my aussie partner authentic stafford things. The one place that can do no wrong is the market vaults! Steeped in history, the best publican in town (sorry if the terminology isnt right, Ben) and just brimming with character. The locals there will likely fill you in on the history if you ask. Even if you only stop by on your way through, this place is the place to go. Food is off the charts and the service and experience is second to none. Can't rate it highly enough! Thank you for an amazing time!

It was the best in stafford and then unfortunately under new management it list it's way but now back in good hands producing fantastic food...surprisingly light given the portion size which shows the quality I think. Very fortunate to call this my local pub...great food always great company and happy to give a positive review (noone asked me to)

Was drawn in by the advertising board in the town square promising "The best burgers in Stafford" was definitely not disappointed! Big,juicy,succulent patties and lots of choice.I had the New York Deli and my partner the Funghi Farmer, difficult to tell who made the best choice but I think I may have just edged it! Fairly quiet during our visit, served straightaway and food turned up within 10 minutes. Ben, behind the bar,was friendly and chatty. Nice choice of ales too.

Heard how good the burgers were so decided to visit. Ben is an excellent host with the best burgers in town. I had the special cheese dipping burger and was not disappointed. If you want a good burger do not go anywhere else.

After reading reviews we decided to give the burgers here ago, I had been for a drink in this pub before and not really seen it as a foody pub but I put my trust in trip advisor and it paid off - really good burger, homemade, cooked well - not over done and tasty toppings. The chips are really good - except be mindful they are already salted before you pile more on.

6 of us had a great lunch out from work one Friday. Everybody had something different from the menu and all enjoyed. The lunch box is a great idea. Good food, reasonably priced, nice atmosphere, can’t fault it.

The market vaults is a bit of a hidden gem in the backstreets if stafford, ignore your frankie and bennies and just go here, the burgers are really well seasoned and the meat is tender, the fries are amazing get the brisket with pickled cabbage. All in all very good meal and the guinness is good aswell.

Popped in today on a whim and so glad we did. Very friendly barman who noticed we had a dog and brought a bowl of water over. Excellent choice on menu. Food was fab, we had a burger and nachos and fries with beef brisket. Best brisket I’ve had!!! Will definitely be back.

Great beer, great burgers, great pub. I’ve been meaning to visit it here for some time now. It’s changed hands recently and the owner is aiming for a traditional pub with good food and beer . Hits the mark on both counts. No frills . Just exactly what it says on the tin .

Came for a meal and a drink last night with my fiancé and our friends and we absolutely loved it. The food is smashing, the burgers are exceptional and considering I'm not a burger fan usually I have been turned! The portion sizes are perfect and the food is cooked to perfection. The staff are brilliant and have no problem chatting to you and providing the best service I've received in a pub, always smiling and friendly. The oub itself is lovely, very clean, very old styled but a nice atmosphere to sit in and they play awesome music alongside the live music on Thursdays! 1000% would recommend!

Went to the Market Vaults last night as I had heard it was under new management and I do like a proper pub ! Have been in loads before and had great real ale and kept meaning to try the burgers which were supposed to be very good....we were not disappointed !

Great burgers as usual, our favourite pub for lunch. The Run DMC burger with shrooms and blue cheese is my fave.

The Market Vaults has amazing burgers. I had the same old, same old and the bf had the run DMC. You can get them made with meat or veggie/vegan. We had the vegan burgers and they were incredible! The seasonings really set off the meal. Everything was delicious. The portions are massive and come with a mound of chips.

Went last night with vegetarian friend. Very good burgers for both of us and great beer. This place is definitely a bit basic in decor - probably not for a romantic night out but for two chaps having a natter and food - terrific.

Went back to try since its changed hands, sad to find the burgers aren't what they were. I ordered a chicken burger and the bread was dry, the chicken burger was a bit overcooked and overall bland. The staff are friendly, but I felt it's lost its once awesome atmosphere. Hopefully just a one off bad experience

We had friends come over and we wanted to take them to a few places in town. We got out the taxi first stop Market Vaults... We stood at the bar for ages waiting to be served and in the end went to the gin bar next door. We were disappointed because we used to like the Market Vaults, but now under new management seems that they think 1 person tending 2 bars on a Friday night is going to keep their customers happy. You lost quite a bit of custom from 4 of us last night. Shame really. Won't be rushing back.

As a vegan i found the options fantastic i was able to order almost any burger from the menu, i went for the run DMC and would recommend it to anyone!

New management has taken over and have turned this place around! My self as my girlfriend visited for dinner. We received excellent service was brilliant! The vegan options were amazing had the choice of nearly the entire menu.

Visiting for the first time since the change of ownership, I ordered a burger, which was delicious. The fries were rather unusual, but I enjoyed them. The staff member who served me was friendly and efficient, and I am looking forward to returning in the future.

A small group of us used to visit regularly until we heard that there was going to be a change of management. We were all a little sad but then when we saw the new menu figured we should give it a go.

The burgers here were fantastic! And I'm not even a big burger fan. Really nice old pub feel with friendly staff and good choice of beer. We went on a Saturday night and they had a live band playing which added to really nice atmosphere

After enjoying the vaults we popped in to see what the change of ownership was like. The staff are friendly as usual but the music has changed. Also the music is way to loud for the afternoon and it made chatting to my friends hard. I looked at the new menu and was disappointed to see that I would have to ask the staff about the vegetarian and vegan options. Nothing was marked as vegetarian not even the chips. I decided to not order food and also there is a bit on the menu saying about dietary requirements ‘talk team’ unfortunately if the menu has missing words it doesn’t feel me with confidence.

Drove a 30 mile round trip to get one of the best burgers money can buy only to be told the management have changed and they do not do burgers anymore.

We popped into the Market Vaults on a recommendation. So I was catching up with a friend and we both went for a real ale and no problems with try before you buy, to make sure the ale is the one for you. Great selection on by the way! We sat and chatted and had a catch up for an hour or so. We then chose our burgers and waited for them to arrive. There wasn't a long wait, just about as I would expect for this type of food. The burgers where awesome and we both thoroughly enjoyed and had clean plates. Good times!!!

I've tried this place a handful of times, it's the kind of place I like, has real ales and the music side however on every occasion I've tried it the service has been lacking, even at quiet times, the staff blatantly serve their 'mates'/regulars over whoever is actually next, and as I say it's been quiet enough on most the occasions for anyone to work that out. So as they were not interested in gaining any new regulars I have no to bothered. I've also been in on a couple of work lunches, burgers are great but overall I struggle to want to go due to the service in the evenings.

I found a post on their Facebook page to say the pub is closing soon and so brought my partner for one of their excellent burgers last night. It’s been possibly my favourite pub in Stafford for several years, with a friendly and close atmosphere, delicious burgers and drinks, and good music, and I will be very sad to see it go. Thank you to the owners and staff for providing a wonderful pub experience, and here’s hoping it’ll be taken over by some like-minded people!

Dropped in for something to eat after the Stafford Cheese and Ale Festival. Easily got a table minutes before 6pm when the burgers are served. Four burgers ordered and not scrap of food was left as they were delicious.

The best pint of Guinness in Stafford. A great choice of wines and lagers too. Good atmosphere, great burgers. It's our go to place in town.

Visited one lunchtime, comfortably full but we were able to find a table. The lighting is minimal and subdued but the food and beer very good, especially the burgers where portions are very generous. You are allowed to take your dog in there too.

Another cracking burger, so tasty and filling. for a Saturday night was expecting a long wait, even tho it was busy service was excellent and quick, I really would recommend anyone who has not tried here to get down and try one, before they leave for pastures new

Walk to the back room, find yourself a table and get a menu. You’re in for a taste sensation. I went with 2 friends and my husband on Easter Sunday, the pub was quiet but the food was brilliant. We had burgers and although these come with fries, we ordered some of the special fries too(beef chilli cheese fries and beer-glazed pullled pork fries). The meat in the burgers is top quality and very juicy. I will definitely be returning to Market Vaults on my next visit to Stafford.

Popped in for a late brunch.. it’s Saturday, we don’t move quickly. Excellent pub and superb burgers, Fungus Amongst is for me, 8oz beef burger with mushrooms and blue cheese and the Porketta for the Mrs, 8 oz pork burger with pulled pork, bacon, peppers...

Had a family meet up for burgers. Great food and very helpful staff. No high chairs or baby changing facilities but we managed to feed 3 young children anyway. Would recommend it and I'm sure we will be going again.

Lived in Stafford for 2 years and must have been 30 times. Eaten burgers in lots of places in the world and these are one of the best. Menu changes regularly and there is always a weekly special. Recommend the Smoke n Yolk and the...

A group of 5 of us called for a drink and some food before going on to the theatre. It was busy and we were advised that the food could take up to 45 mins. In fact it arrived after about 25 mins which was good. The burgers were really, really good. This was unanimous, and we tried 4 different burgers between us. I’m not usually bothered about a burger but I’m now a convert, they were that good - the skinny fries and rosemary coleslaw were perfect accompaniments. We will definitely be back.

We went for a charity quiz night and had a great evening. I was fascinated by the pictures hung all around the place of distinctive landmarks of Stafford town. The pub itself is quaint & old. Imagine if the walls could talk in a place like that...

I have attended this pub a number of times and brought clients here for a burger after excellent culinary experiences, the rustic look and excellent selection of beers and may I mention whisky made our night the bar staff were really helpfully especially a young lady named Jordan who always ensured my clients and my glasses were never empty and with a smile :-) I would highly recommend this place if your out for a beer with friends looking for something to eat (ps chicken strips if your from USA are closer than I’ve ever tasted) and if your on business your client will love it. 5 Star Service 5 Star burgers and I will give Jordan a 5 Star Service.

Hadn't had a burger from here for a while so we decided to get two to go on Friday night. They did not disappoint and I quickly remembered why I loved them so much! Service was quick and friendly, didn't have to wait long for the burgers to be ready, all boxed up nicely for us to take home and the food itself was exceptional. Portion size is great value for money and we were over the moon that the grilled cheese is back on the menu!! Thank you for another exceptional meal MVB x

This place advertises awesome burgers, it doesn't disappoint. It's the best place for burgers in Stafford. However, this place doesn't just sell awesome burgers, it also sells a variety of quality beers and offers a warm and friendly welcome day or night and live entertainment.

Firstly, let me be clear that this is a fine, traditional yet quirky pub with good beer, good entertainment and, from the reviews here, good food too. However, all this is negated by a particular staff member who is surly, rude and unprofessional. This woman is clearly stressed and overwhelmed by her role, acting like a soldier under fire or an air traffic controller, but this is not Raqqa or Heathrow at peak season, it’s a provincial boozer which on this occasion was far from busy. Her complete disdain for paying customers who she seems to view as an irritant indicates she may have chosen the wrong career. My advice is that it’s never too late to take a different path and she should consider a role far, far away from direct customer service such as oil rig maintenance or cleaner on a space station.
