The Market Cross in Bury St Edmund's Buttermarket is coming to life again. For too long this elegant Robert Adams building was neglected but now it's becoming a gallery and venue for live music, comedy, arts and crafts, theatre, dance lessons, markets and somewhere to enjoy good food in a relaxed atmosphere. I recently held a Big Birthday party for 35 guests and everyone was impressed by the welcome, the service, food and value for money plus there's a lift to the first floor.

Very unique setting, very friendly atmosphere and staff, all home cooked food at very reasonable prices, very central in Bury on the first floor but has a lift. well worth a visit.

Lovely to find somewhere for coffee and a cake apart from the usual noisy chain coffee shops. Gentle place to relax and chat right in the middle of town. This is a real local business and that adds to the joy. Well done to all involved- you have my full support and future custom.

A wonderful venue for a casual family reunion on Sunday lunchtime. Staff were very welcoming and could not have done more for us. Food very tasty and excellent value. More people should make use of this venue in the centre of Bury St Ed’s

I love coming here, friendly atmosphere, good music ( and I'm not a fan of background music), papers to read, interesting art to look at, and all the plants dotted around. A very individual space offering not only food, but great concerts and dance lessons in the evenings. I always enjoy the food offering, if breakfast, a light lunch or cakes. Good choice of soft and alcoholic drinks. For me a hidden gem in Bury St Edmunds.

The chippy is just up the road from us but we probably only pop in to get chips once a month to go with a meal we are making. The chips are always good these days, as is the service and the staff are really helpful. On more than one occasion I’ve seen them going above and beyond to help out a member of the public. Also really pleased to see the phasing-out of polystyrene trays and plastic bags in favour of paper and cardboard over the last few years. Fish could always be bigger but you could say that about any chippy these days and the last few fish I’ve had have been really good. Highly recommended.

We were there during the Haal festival and the restaurant was very efficiently run and the food was great.

Good things : This cafe is in a great location and offers plenty of seating outside which is ideal for those with dogs. Not so good things : The coffee was ok although pricey for the size of cup. Cakes were nice enough, but had too much buttercream icing. Bad things : The layout of the tables inside is a bit congested. The volume and choice of music appears to be for the benefit of the staff because we, and those around us at other tables, to raise our voices to have a conversation.

Disappointed with the cappuccino which was weak milky coffee which I did not finish. Lovely lady who served and made my cappuccino but she was no barista. Been here many times before but this is definitely my last cappuccino.

Been here twice on our break to Deeside. Staff really friendly and helpful. We had coffee and tea on our first visit with a slice of cracknel. Tea, Toasties and cracknel! (again) again on our second visit. Although we only had snacks which were very reasonably priced the food being delivered to other tables looked first class.
