The unfriendly staff I encountered for the first time in London Are you a racist? I came into the store and was ignored for a few minutes. God Bless Judas^^ ah! The atmosphere of the store is good!

The man with glasses behind the bar told us to sit at the bar as there wasn’t any tables free. (absolutely fine we didn’t mind sitting at the bar) however we waited for 20 minutes and he didn’t serve us. he stood behind the bar singing and messing with the music trying to impress the crowd with his alex turner musical knowledge. yes you have good taste but i just wanted a cheeky drink. he looked like he would be a pain to work with. would probably mansplain to me and tell me how cool his indie band his that he’s in. if you don’t want a character read then maybe just serve me a drink. don’t need an alcoholic one just a juice would have been nice.

French bistrot atmosphere, delicious food, friendly staff.

Had a lovely roast well cooked and presented. Potatoes were a bit dry and there was a lot of fat on my beef, apart from that friendly pub with a great ambiance with background music set at an acceptable level.

We've walked past the Market Coffee House and Bar many times and this was our first visit. A beautiful listed interior and a refreshingly relaxed (and not overly noisy) environment. The food - slighly modified classics - was very good, well-prepared and flavourful. A short but good wine list. The staff are pleasant and efficient. There was a small mistake with a drinks order but it was immediately corrected. We'll certainly come back again.

Bad decision to dine at this place. AWFUL food. Carrots all burnt like charcoal, inedible. Potato mash greasy, watery, disgusting texture and taste. Mushroom pie that looked ok from outside but had a greasy mix inside. Plus, expensive. Such a disappointment. Had to go to a Pizza place after "dining" here. Please - RESPECT the INGREDIENTS, hire qualified people to cook food.

Lovely breakfast, great selection of teas and a humbling, cosy atmosphere. Just what I needed today. Thank you everyone.

Pros: Food was amazing (littley pricey) Atmosphere is super nice, very traditional english vibe Cons: Service is worst i had for a long time. House wine finished saturday eve 8pm. Service charge 12,5% added to the bill, for what? You expect to have good service with that. Waitresses look like they dont enjoy, didnt even pour the wine for us, 36pounds bottle. So sad because the food really is good.

It is rare in London to have a place where music is not blasting at you while you try to hold a conversation over a dinner. This is a rare place where you can enjoy a meal with friends without shouting at each other. Even on a Friday evening, it was pretty calm. It is even more surprising considering the prominent location right next to the market. The venue is a mix of a restaurant and pub sections. The food is really good (we tested the whole range), in a classic British pub manner. The service was great as well, friendly, helpful. And the interior is super stylish a well. Great experience.

Theo the chef made an amazing chicken pie - one of the best I've had. The service was so lovely (especially Molly the server) - welcoming and warm. The place overall has a great relaxed atmosphere. Highly recommend.

Lovely central spot, reasonable prices. The bread is dreadful, though, too thickly cut and dry, making the otherwise good Welsh rarebit unpleasant.

Looks lovely from the outside, fab decor! Sadly service was TERRIBLE. The over priced food took 45 mins to arrive, - 2 boiled eggs and soldiers + poached eggs… unsure if they were waiting for the chicken to lay these? If so wasn’t informed. When food finally arrived it was stone cold. No care no apology, nothing. Avoid at all costs. Will Not be returning. Nothing eggs-citing about this place. Cheers then.

A great late lunch here today. This place is a gem hidden in plain sight.

Tiny pub with very little seating for just drinks. The staff are really friendly and humorous. However the drinks selection is small and prices are high. Standing outside for drinks during the summer when the sun is out is good, otherwise there isn't much space to stand inside.

This review is from December, but I’m just getting around to writing it now. I love The Market Coffee House & Bar. Although it’s in the busy area of Spitalfields, it manages to retain a less commercialised and more considered atmosphere. It has a sense of independence in an overly commercialised area. The menu is simple and delicious, and the wine selection is excellent. I love the small tables and nooks; it’s intimate. I came here several times with a business partner, and we shared some wine and sharing plates, pictured. Everything was delicious. The servers were friendly and attentive—everything you can ask for in a relaxed December lunch!

Highly recommend the food in the picture (chorizo with honey and the smoked halibut)! Good selection of drinks including the beers on tap. Really enjoyed it and was good for sharing between 2 people for a light dinner. Staff were very friendly and the atmosphere was cozy. It wasn't too busy for a Friday dinner as well. Will definitely return!

Just ordered a coke on ice, flat and mentioned it right away. Staff smirked, so did manager no replacement offered! Bottle not poured properly. No replacement after a sip I left it all there an left as I noticed they are a tourist trap by not offering a replacement right away. No excuse there… get your basics right.

Delicious food. Classic, well balanced, nuanced, bold flavors. Whoever says British food is bland should be forced to eat here.

It is as charming as it looks on the outside! This little spot is perfect for lunch or even just a coffee. The antique design and ambiance is very calming. They have a yummy gluten free brownie too :)

What a lovely place white table cloths and the best service in the world the food was fantastic the prices so good for london and what arrange of beers nothing was to much trouble I think everyone should have a meal here you will enjoy

Great atmosphere and a good range of drinks.

Went for a late lunch a Spitalfileds … it was cold and didn’t want to seat in the market. Stumbled upon this amazing pub with fantastic food (homie, pub, pure British with great international twists), superb service and great beers. Instant “go to”… a little pricey, but hey it’s London 😊. Friendliest staff in London

Great welcome and excellent cuisine

I went in there for a drink last night. I ordered 1 double whisky (Oban) and 1 pint of craft beer. They charged me £38.20 which is either a mistake or a royal rip-off. Either way I wasn’t happy when I realised this morning.

Best Jasmine tea I have had in London. Good atmosphere.

I met someone for a work meeting - we grabbed coffee and snacks and the atmosphere was great. Will definitely visit again!

Not perfect but in its idiosyncrasies lie perfection. Really like the staff and they can make a decent martini. Sometimes looks packed from the outside because of all the suits on the pavement but inside is often an oasis of classy calm. Food isn’t anything to write home about but nourishing and hearty after a couple of drinks. It also always has tables which for Shoreditch is a miracle. I often go here when we can’t get into Bread and Wine - although I am by no means comparing the two.

Great coffee and breakfast! Scrambled eggs on a good sourdough toast and the french toast was really perfect. Not sweet, just perfect. Good coffee too!

Appalling place. Service Appalling and food took forever and when it came it was cold and very shoddy. Then they stuck on a 15% obligatory service charge. Utter joke. Had to chase where the food was. Don't go. They need to pull their collective finger out. Rip off.

Very friendly and helpful staff. The only problem is that we found this place on google maps for “Sunday roast” and it was shown as a highly rated Sunday roast place. However, we learned at the table whilst ordering that they no longer do Sunday roast. Food was tasty, atmosphere was nice, the waiters kindly reserved the table we have chosen. It may be fair to inform people about the roast situation through google maps or through their website.

Good selection of beers you've probably never heard of. Staff were friendly and generally a nice place to go that wasn't too busy, so no hassle at the bar unlike some nearby places.

Each n every food was delicious.

Enjoyed a small plate of crab mac'n'cheese here today for lunch 27/09/2023 with a friend followed by affogato washed down with a glass of bubbly. Lovely.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Had limited time and needed to have food quickly, staff ensured that food arrived promptly. Would like to have spent more time here as the atmosphere is very peaceful. Decoration and music transports you out of the busy life of London to a more tranquil period.

Had the Florentine...it was luke warm and the hollandaise sauce was dreadful aswell as non-existent. It should have been served on a slice of hood quality toast but was served on french bread and egg and spinachkept falling off it. Altogether not a good experience

I have had TMCH on my list for some time now and was so pleased that it lived up to my expectations. The food was amazing - so much of the menu sounded delicious so we ended up ordering some small plates and a main. The portions were generous but still prepared with a lot of thought and consideration (and seasoned to perfection). I have to say, it's been the best meal I've had in London for a while; I would absolutely go back. The staff were lovely too and the atmosphere has a European café aesthetic yet feels unmistakeably English.

We had a delightful dinner tonight. The service was excellent - a great wine recommendation and then delicious food that was well-timed. Definitely recommend. Hope to come back for breakfast.

It’s a combination of amiable hospitality, excellent food and warm ambiance. It’s like stepping into a period piece movie set. They have a piano where guests (and my son) can play. We really enjoyed our stay

I had a cappuccino here only unfortunately. Someday I'll go again to try their food! The atmosphere was beautiful and calm, they even had a piano! If I knew how to play I'd love to do it. The lady who made my coffee was super sweet, she made the atmosphere even brighter! Absolutely love the place.

Excellent twist on traditional English food. The small/share plates were very good, especially the Black Pudding Scotch Egg! The range of local food and beers was impressive, as was the coffee. The wine list looked good, too. The staff were all very friendly and efficient, and the restaurant was welcoming and spacious.

All spot on : Great flavour, reasonable price, friendly service, feel good atmosphere (vintage/cossy) Recommended by a British friend. On Friday, we tried the prawn (starter), pork and lamb on main, all delicious. Dessert : one of best apple crumble and butter bread pudding ! Real treat ! We decided to go for Sunday roast after the good experience. The vegetarian willinton taste fantastic ! Buttery puff and well seasoned vegetables filling, accompany with parsnip puree, classic British. Even the roast vege at side are good, flavoursome ! Now I know where to go for classic English cousin.

Best chicken livers on toast ever

The service at the restaurant is always brilliant but please be aware the menu has changed and they don’t have the variety they once had. The steaks are still excellent but we were very disappointed with the food all coming out on cold plates, which meant the food was cold in no time and the fish was such a disappointment! An all round unpleasant experience which is such a shame as we have eaten several times in the past.

The English conquered half the world for spices, still ended up with vile dishes in their cuisine. And this restaurant decided it was a good idea to serve that revolting food

Terrible! will never go again! I used to go to the English restaurants quite often and was disappointed to see they changed owners and obviously chef! First of all they I saw it was still advertised they do the Sunday roast and they don't. It was 2 of us and we ordered the steak with fries and salad. Wish I took a picture because the words can't describe.... For £25 one would expect a nice presentation and good quality but this wasn't the case. The fries were disgusting and burnt and although the waiter said they were triple cooked they were simply burnt. He offered to replace them and when he came back also those once were burnt. They tested like the oil itself was burnt and weren't fresh, probably bought frozen. They took the chips off thr bill (tot of 7.50). Also the meat didn't taste great.. So will never go again and highly recommend to stay away

The place is lovely and a proper pub. However the food was absolutely atrocious. One of us ordered a steak medium, however it was sooo rare. I like rare but even I wouldn’t have eaten that. So we complained and they cooked another one but the chef literally burnt the whole thing and it was so dry, it was honestly the worst steak ive ever tried. I can’t believe the chef has a job there when is absolutely clueless on how to do a simple steak. We weren’t asking for much but at least expect the steak to be cooked to an alright standard considering it was £28. I would recommend the place for a drink as the staff were friendly and the drinks good but certainly don’t come for food. Not sure why so many positive reviews about this tourist trap.

Oysters were great but a bit watery! Their house prosecco is SO good, and they deliver it in really lovely glasses which feels more special. The staff were clearly all quite new, and dressed super casually in jogging bottoms which is sort of weird considering how much you pay. They were really friendly though!

We were waiting for one hour and finally we left without food delivered.

Used to be great before covid, so stopped by for another one; but the food was beyond horrendous… the charcuterie board is worse than Tesco ones; the duck was dry and small Service was not bad but hey I’m here to eat

The chef is a great cook . Starter was mussels with caviar for me and artichoke spécialité for my husband. We loved the sauces he made. For the main I had pan fried trout, normally others made it quite dry but with the sherry sauce he added it’s délicieux! My partner has duck breast so tender n tasty. Definitely we will come back again. Waiter and waitresses are nice and polite. Prices are reasonable and good value.Belgian beer was tronc! it’s a pleasurable evening.

Had an excellent 3-course dinner at the Market Coffee House & Bar which is being run by a new team. Started with tagliatelle with mussels which was a delicious take on a light seafoody pasta dish with fresh herbs. Tender duck breast with sweet squash purée for the main. Finally, the gooseberry trifle dessert perfectly combined tart, sweet, and creamy. The new head chef Jason exudes passion for food and ingredients. He personally visited our table providing unique insights on the dishes. I intend to seek out this restaurant whenever I am next in the UK, and I am excited to see the direction it heads in the future.

Really like this place. The martini was exquisite, and the food was delicious. The only thing that was a slight negative is, service is a little slow. It was bit hard to flag some one down so that I could get another martini.

Great place for drinks outside overlooking at Spitafields market. Good choice of pale ale, IPa and wheat beer all served on tap.

Le cadre est sympathique et la nourriture plutôt pas mal. Mais par contre qu’est-ce que c’est lent. Plus de 45 minutes pour être servi alors que le resto est presque vide. Bon fish and chips.
