This is the best pub I’ve been to in derby. The staff are all great and the beer is good. I wish there were more days in the week as I would go more.

Lovely staff , nice garden . I like the manager he’s a nice guy . Overpriced depressing food that frequently comes out lacking an item or two due to ‘ running out ‘ … if you can’t make the dish take it off the menu , don’t leave items out hoping that your customers won’t notice . I will return ever hopeful .

Simon and his team gave us, as usual, fabulous service. The drinks were great and the food was amazing. Everyone had a wonderful time. Thanks Simon.

I like the Markeaton, the staff mostly are quite nice. The food is ok we had a wrap and the actual wrap was a bit thick. You get a lot of filling tho' .. too much to roll it up and it comes with skin on fries or side salad.

Food is delicious and reasonably priced.

Excellent private room for an afternoon funeral sandwich and coffee, pre-booked. Amazing amount of food.

We ordered fish n chips , burger n chips and a rump steak. Looked good and tasted amazing , served quickly and with a smile by the lovely friendly staff. Was a nice atmosphere and very clean. Thank you for your hospitality.

Great staff and landlord. The food is good and reasonable prices. Has a large beer garden so good for families. Definitely recommend

Building is nice. Staff are useless morons who can't get orders right and are too stupid to rectify it when they get it wrong.

It is what it is.. Don't expect top food or top service its cheap and functional.. I personally wouldn't eat there again.. not fir any other reason as its not my sort of food..

Have you changed the chef. Very disappointed with my meal. It wasnt up to the usual standard this week

Nice place with great staff and Landlord . The food is good and at a fair price as well. A fantastic garden with loads of room for the kids. Would recommend to anyone.

Excellent pub with good decent food. We don’t live nearby but we found it while travelling and we needed somewhere for lunch. Much much better than any service station. Would recommend.

Food was ok but one of the staff was surly and obviously didn't want to be serving members of the public. They need to understand that treating customers with courtesy and a smile is the absolute minimum.

A nice park to spend quality time

Plentiful portion of well cooked tasty food. The kitchen grill was out of action which limited the choice but there were enough options on the menu. Polite, friendly and helpful staff.

We didn't have food , but was a lovely pub we could eat there at some point as it was very comfortable.

It's lovely to have a table near to the fire. The Markeaton is a very cosy place. The food was delicious which it usually is and not expensive.

A great late lunch. Tempted on this occasion by birthday offer on my E Mail. Spacious - nice atmosphere. Lots of different areas to sit. Good service by a friendly team. Excellent Hunters Chicken and Rump Steak.

Pub cosy with. Fires but not many in early on a Monday to be expected, typical pub meal pleasant staff.

Table top was wobbly, sticky and not clean. We were put on a table with very low light, needed phone torch to read the menu. Had fish and chips were OK, but nothing special and not very well presented.

Excellent and polite service but I ordered seabass and it was lacking in vegetables, except potatoes and the asparagus was stringy.

Wow the food was awful. The so called posh fish and chips was two small, very sorry looking pieces of fish with cheap oven chips. The scampi was bullets of batter.

Great pub. Great cask ale choices. Great atmosphere. Good food. I think my meal was let down purely by the small amount of potato. Chicken and Portobello mushroom pie was beautiful.

Food a bit overdone/burnt, service ok no better than any other pub. Its a bit hit and miss, previous visits have been better.

Wheelchair access from the car park needs improvement. Everything else is great

Did n't have the food so I can't comment on that but service at the bar was very good and the ambience was great! Be aware the toilets are upstairs!

Everything was good. Warm and welcoming on arrival and comfortable seating and decor. Drinks were reasonably priced as was the food. We had the 2 course lunch menu, fishcakes chips peas and ham egg chips with warm waffles for dessert. All the food was great, the waffles were really delicious. The waiter was excellent, friendly and efficient. We left feeling really full and will definitely return.

Usual pub fayre, not particularly expensive. A good selection of drinks. Quiz nights on Tuesday and Thursday, live music occasionally. Clean toilets. Log fire in winter. A nice place to pop in for a drink or a meal.

Decent food a chain pub usual type of meals, and coffee served with a smartie was a nice twist. Just needs a bit of dusting and a bit of tlc around the walls, but still well worth a visit.

We turned up as a fairly big family group on the off chance , quite a few of us had food , which was lovely , service was great , friendly staff , good prices

Although food came quickly one of the meals was late as it had to be redone would have been better to wait and serve all at once.

Attentive friendly staff and bright clean and tidy place let down a bit by rather dried up food, as if it had been left under the heat lamps too long.

Popped in here for nibbles with the duchess of Burton and baroness okerthorpe

Food is reasonably priced but could have done with being warmer. Plenty of parking. Will visit again when in the area.

Sea Bass portions were very small and too many potatoes on the plate and only two pieces of asparagus . Another vegetable would have been nice instead of bulking the plate out with so many potatoes . Sea Bass is a light meal !

My wife and I decided to go to the Markeaton Pub to enjoy the night. We were impressed by the wonderful view that the place offers. The atmosphere is cozy and lively with beautiful people. The service was impeccable, the waiters were friendly and quick. The food was divine, we ordered some appetizers and some meat that were mouth-watering. It was an incredible experience, I highly recommend this pub to anyone who wants to have fun and relax.

Bar staff incredibly friendly and helpful. Food lovely, vast choice available will have to return to try something else. Convenient halfway point between my house and my friend’s house hence the dinner

To give cutlery out with the meal as delay in being able to eat the food. Listen to the customer when they want a change to their order. Friend had unfinished drink removed whilst ordering pudding.

Weekend Breakfasts are a must Absolutely love the food

Always had a good welcome here, prompt service and classic good pub food at sensible prices. I've moved away from the area but still return when I can.

Landlord and staff were great as usual, lovely food and catered for gluten free.

Expensive and the food was rubbish

A lovely pub with really great portion sizes. My partner ordered two starters which was more than enough. There is a designated adorable area for digs with treats and signs which is a great idea. Lots of private tables too. You have to climb quite a few stairs to get to the bathroom but toilets nice and clean. Staff are attentive...they bought me extra gravy for my roast and let me order a smaller portion as I can never manage the larger sizes.

Saturday lunch for 4. Excellent food as always. 1 lasagne, 1 sausage and mash, 1 full breakfast, 1 child's chicken strips meal. Meals enjoyed by all. Desserts and drinks also very good. Staff friendly and helpful.

Rowdy family in the garden area shouting and yawping at there dogs . You don't really need it on a nice Sunday afternoon

The posh fish finger sandwich was good, as was the coffee. The addition of smarties in the saucer is a lovely idea. The service couldn't be faulted.

Staff are nice, parking is ok. Large garden with plenty of cover if the rain suddenly comes to get you. Prices are reasonable 👍

May not be a chic stainless steel pub, but I thought it was brilliant. The staff were friendly and looked after us with our meals and drinks. Breath of fresh air to be treated like they wanted your custom its a forgotten art these days. Food was good with a diverse selection and a selection of different ales All in al,l I would recommend this place and wish it was my local.

Not the most interesting range of beers with the standard Pedigree and Bass but they also have Hophead from Dark Star and another light draught ale so certainly enough choice and generally kept well.

We had a delicious salad with chips on the side! Perfect for a summer's day. The waiter was excellent and looked after us very well.

Food was excellent, good service and sensible prices. A few people were a bit inconsiderate they were doing a conference call on their laptops which was very loud.

Food was very good and came hot too considering there was 10 of us and all together good atmosphere, out with friends. Would definitely recommend to friends

We were contacted by Izzy from the pub earlier to tell us there would be a reduced menu as the chef was poorly. However, George the under chef was great, we enjoyed our pub favorites and the deserts were splendid. Customer service from Izzy and staff was great. Thank you.

Went with my friends,we went for the 9 pound deal you can have two things from the menu,both we with the fish and chips,it was lovely and lots of it , and both had pudding 😁 was so nice, staff were brilliant nice place to be very good value ❤️

Was a quiet place when attending around 4pm, did very muchly enjoy the food and staffing where very helpful, main quibble being kitchen staff and customers smoking via fire door with the smell petrufing into the restaurant. Not good with small children around unfortunately I'll go elsewhere as this felt like common practice

I'd have given it all 5's but the food was a bit slow being served,but it was cheap and bloody lovely,had a mixed grill,4oz steak,chicken breast,2 sausages,2 fried eggs,chips,gammon,tomatoes,mushroom and peas all for £15 and it was lovely,no waste at all,wife had hunters chicken,said it was really nice too,drinks were cheap pepsi max and an old mout cider for just over £7.Lovely place in a nice location,for the price will definitely be returning,highly recommend.

The staff were very friendly. The food menu was a bit too much to wade through. My Haddock & chips was lacking in chips. The Lager selection needs shaking up, I would like to see Heineken & Amstel on tap for a change, then I would probably come more often.

Came here after a memorial for some lunch, bar man was incredibly rude, it was clear he didn't want to be there, made me feel like a burden on what was an already upsetting day for me and my family.

Not been to this pub since lockdown, forgotten how good the food was. Good quality food but at a reasonable price. I had the roast turkey Sunday dinner and it was amazing, love the red cabbage. Had sticky toffee pudding for afters. Large modern clean pub with outdoor area. Electric car charging point in car park. Welcoming staff would highly recommend it

Service very quick..staff lovely...Food just ok..Sunday beef quite chewy and not much of it..Roast potatoes not browned or chunchy...5 veg.most ok but..parsnips undercooked..all cool..gravy tasty.quite pricy compared to nearby carveries....Maybe Chef having bad day cos not up to usual standard..shame as it was my birthday celebration

Popped in here for a quick drink as we was in the area. Not been in for several years and felt quite disappointed. It seemed to have let itself go a little and I feel the whole place needs a bit of a refresh. Furniture and decor all looks a little tired.

Steady pub ample room and plenty of tables

Went in for a Sunday dinner after visiting Markeaton Park with the family. Food came out well presented, and good carved meat along with fresh vegetables. Nice atmosphere within the pub as it wasn't too busy. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Overall lovely first time visit.

Good food and have some good discounts. Atmosphere is predominately families so quite lively.
