If you have booked a 'heated pod' don't bother as they are freezing. The pods have all of the sides open so are open to the elements and aren't not warm in the slightest. The 'heater' only emits minimal heat and keeps switching off. The drinks take an age to come out and although the food was nice we weren't brought any cutlery or sauces. My friend's order was also wrong but they didn't do anything about it. The wine is over priced at £20 for a bottle which you can get in other pubs for less than a tenner.Safe to say won't be returning.

We booked a heated pod (which cost £20 & doesn’t come off the bill at the end) and the pod was far from heated. The plastic cover was rolled up halfway and the heater was a pathetic plastic thing with a picture of a fire on it. It was freezing! Service was very slow and they ran out of the wine that we were drinking. The owner of the place served us and had a really greasy personality. The food came in cardboard boxes and served with wooden knife and forks. It was awful! I have emailed a complaint and they haven't even had the courtesy to reply to me! Never again!

Originally booked an Igloo before the current lockdown to have drinks with friends. Understandably this wasn't able to go ahead as went into lockdown. Was advised would be added to priority transfer list for when reopened, this never happened. All emails completely ignored, nobody answers the phone, finally received a message on social media after posting a public complaint. Was told I'd receive a refund the next day, still waiting. Chased up daily and constantly ignored. They are only responding to new booking queries and keeping/stealing money from original bookings which weren't able to be used. Absolutely disgraceful way to treat customers. I wouldn't recommend this place at all. They label themselves as "Chesterfield's favourite place" what a joke, I'd rather take my chances at a Wetherspoon's than risk being ripped off by these again.

We went for the supper with Santa, and what a let down the whole experience was ,service was awful waited around 50 mins was seated on a table that was meant for 2 but had 4 of us squished even though there was 2 empty tables , asked to be moved but no one ever came back to us on that , was told there was no sauce for one of the meals , mains came out before the starters !! Decided to not have starter but then the mains were just terrible frozen vegetables with one meal , no vegetables (let alone seasonal) with what was meant to be hunters chicken but was dry chicken with bbq sauce chucked over it with bit of grated cheese and frozen chips , the child’s meal had already been pre paid at £15 which included 2 course meal (didn’t receive pudding) story with Santa which was in a very tired room and a 50p selection box in my opinion not good value for money the list of complaints is a lengthy one but these mentioned are just a few . Even though none of the meals were eaten staff were only willing to give us a 10% discount off the bill however this was not satisfactory and the manager was unwilling to come out and discuss the issues but after lengthy dispute with the waitress the manager then sent her to us to tell us we didn’t have to pay , I am not one to complain and definitely not one to try and get a free meal but the point was none of us had eaten and left still very hungry DO NOT EAT HERE

Dont go appalling cant even bring hot soup soup out after 40 minute wait luke warm. Steak sandwich was apparently why took so long really well big lumps of rare steak so doesnt add up.Unfortunately friend booked afternoon tea day after didnt want to go .Ignore the picture its doorstep multi grain bread dry as sticks no butter because according to the manager people dont like butter on their bread . So there u have it folks being doing it wrong for years. So one offering was dry bread with a sprinkle of grated cheese are we back in Dickensian times Oliver Twist.Second turkey chunks smothered with cranberry sauce.Third wet smoked salmon .Soggy crisps because put on top of salad Rock hard scone had to cut crust off it and ate less than half of it.Few cakes which i didnt eat friend got box took them home her choice. My friend doesnt like cranberry so asked for replacement and butter for the dry sandwich plus cucumber on cheese at least . Even thicker builders sandwich appeared from chef ! Could do with lessons how to cook bread on top of cooking and presentation. Pot of margarine appeared and then time lapse I could have cooked a meal before cucumber appeared. There was no chutney or any accompaniments of which cranberry sauce should have been served separately.I was not going to review because I thought why bother the staff if you can find one like Marie celeste behind that bar cant be bothered so why should I. The chef and front of house woman are useless the place is going further downhill. Such a shame it was rammed a few year ago . Why does the Fox and Goose work so well Craig and the Manor is a fail.Meal that was booked for four was cancelled and off to Coco because we darent risk chef ill no food or cold food undercooked food. Basically bad food bad service.

Tbe salad was firstly luke warm and consisted of what can only be described as sandwich salmon and 11 shrimps with 1 quarter of a cherry tomato. The club sandwich was floury with unbuttered bread. I asked for black pepper to be informed that they only have ground pepper despite offering a grill menu .... surely customers ordering steak would like black pepper!!! Been a regular for years enjoyed many a sharing board and prosecco on fizz friends friday. But now what happening with the menu everytime you go its altered or they bringing out yet another one. It still shows the old menu to add to the confusion when arrive with friends. So yet again limited menu so decided to have a prawn cocktail which when it eventually came hardly a complicated dish. Consisted of prawns in sauce and lettuce leaves no cucumber no tomato and also no crispy lettuce.Club chicken sandwich with pesto sounds good. In reality dry bread with pesto sunk into it no butter and overdone chicken fillets not cut up nothing.Where was lettuce tom and actually bacon.A club sandwich is three slices of lightly toasted bread with filling spread between.Could not cut the sandwich bread dropped to pieces and chicken so dry could not eat it so Sent it back . Still hungry as had ate barely anything so looked at least complicated item or god knows how long be sat there. Went for pate with toast and came with lots of pate one slice of toast? So had to ask for another slice . But I did spot cucumber in the salad which would have been nice in prawn cocktail. Seriously common sense needed before food sent out. I dont think I would want to either wait for or risk the main courses when prawn cocktail and sandwich seems to complicated.

Arrived for our 5.30pm booking for a carvery for seven people to be told they had run out. Apparently they had tried to call three times but ‘no response’ to tell us of this, the phone hadn’t rang any of the times which I find a massive coincidence. Staff were apologetic in words but not attitude or actions. They relied on the fact that they had told us on booking they couldn’t guarantee a roast, when in fact the conversation inferred that if we didn’t get a carvery we would have a roast plated up. Not acceptable at all, especially with young children part of the bookings. Front of house need some training in customer service! Sadly won’t go back

We decided to go out for Christmas dinner for the first time due to personal circumstances and was hoping it would be special. Friends had suggested Brampton manor was over priced but I never expected for £60 each the tiniest portion of prawn cocktail which was defrosted small prawns and a bit of iceberg for starter. Main was good but carrots and sprouts hard. Profiteroles just ok - Xmas pudding however just came with custard rather than brandy sauce as promised. Worst thing was there wasn’t even any Christmas crackers which was such a let down as just as if we had a normal lunch but 3 times the price. Also we were not allowed a mince pie either because apparently these were only only available Christmas Eve without paying extra. We did get a free round of drinks to makeup for this mess but it was probably the worst Value for money ever especially when u want to make it magical for ur children. Won’t visit again and put us off totally from eating out for Xmas dinner again - a total waste of£200 stay away at Christmas

We walked to the Manor, as we are local, to celebrate me retiring. Just husband and I and a sharining platter. We chose one each and so were not elaigible for the £10 bottle of plonk- so we settited for a 'house' shraz, £16,95p ! A bit steep but tasted good. The food came and was beautifully presented on a wooden platter, a basket of white bait, some scampi fries, x2 homemade battered cod coujons , tartar sauce, rocket and lemon wedges. Hubby had the tapss plate, equally as good. Fresh well cooked and hot, served with a bowl of oven cooked wedge potatoes at £9.95 a piece very nice. What was not very nice was the table of 15 'derbyshire men' effing and jeffing very loudly on the next table. Now no-one objects to people having a christmas do, and I am not sensative toswear words as I work with builders, but out for a meal in a restaurant, \i do not excpect to share the room with the most foul language going. there is a time and plkace, and a restaurant in mixed company is definately not it. It got worse and worse and louder and louder, effing this and effing the w....ker word came out. again and again. Mid meal I had had enough. I got up and collared someone behinfd the bar and said ' excuse me , I am trying to enjoy my meal and the language is too much ! They apologsed and said they would ask them to tone it down. My point being they should have noticed the foul language before- they probably did, they chose to ignore it because they were happoy with the profit they were making. I think they should realise they are alienating the majority of atronage if they dont take a firm hand on derbyshire louts. Ambience is a money maker. take note.

We booked a table at the Manor as we had enjoyed our previous visits. We were met on arrival by a very pleasant young lady and shown to our booth in the main bar. We each ordered platters. My wife had the sea food and I chose the tapas option plus a bottle of wine. The centre of the room, by the bar had a long table at which a dozen or so men were drinking and being served with food. Judging by the noise they were making, the drinking had been going on for some time and by the time our food arrived the animated 'conversation' was at shouting level and featured four lettered obscenities constantly. My wife eventually went up to the bar to complain. However the staff seemed to consist of two waiting staff, both young females who seemed powerless to intervene. There was clearly no management in evidence. We finished our meals and left as soon as we could. We won't be going back. If the Brampton Manor wants to attract yob customers. That's up to them.

I live local and continue to give the Manor a try. However, I am yet to be impressed. In the summer we had “no plates”, “no glasses”, “no ice”. This evening’s visit was as good as ever. I booked a table and explained I had a baby, with a pushchair with me. I was asked if the side bar was ok because there was a private function in the other side. This would be ok if the party in question had not been a band which was very busy and blocked the exit. We had to leave via the kitchen. No apology was offered. The only excuse was that they didn’t know that there was a band on.? The Fox and Goose (in the same group) appear to get everything right. Brampton Manor continues to disappoint. This will be our final visit. What a shame!

I attended my works Christmas do on 15th December. There were 31 of us in total with another branch of our team there (16 in their party totally 47 altogether). The food was served disproportionately late (even though it is accepted that some members of our team were late to arrive - three of which were actually stuck at the bar trying to get served). The food was cold. The veg ridiculously under-cooked. The meat and mash were quite nice. The flooring in the marquee is dangerous. The heating system inconsistent either blowing out blasts of hot or cold air. If you were seated nearer to the system you smelt paraffin. The disco was a joke. Cover versions played for most part and the DJ was atrocious. The staff charge as they please at the bar. The ladies toilets are disgusting. If I could give this review a 0 I would but I have had to give it a 1. Having subsequently complained to the venue via their website to which I initially had no response I have been in contact with Mr Lynch and what a delight he is!!! Very rude and disrespectful over e-mails - please also see some of his replies to reviews on here and you will get the point. Refuses to address the complaints and refused a full refund which has left us now issuing a forming complaint letter under the Consumer Rights Act. No doubt we will not get a response nor our money back. 47 people will now never attend this venue again. I have put this review on here to warn other people. Family and friends will also be notified. It was the worst Christmas meal I have ever attended in 20 odd years!!

I arranged my works christmas party (from the local hospital) to come to Brampton Manor and we all were looking forward to it. We were told to arrive for 8 as the meal was to be served 8.30 sharp, it wasn't. The food was awful with one of the guests saying in the 40 years of Christmas parties he had attended this was the worst. We were seated in a Marquee with a flooring that was at best very wobbly at worst dangerous. It was freezing cold unless you were unlucky enough to be sat roasting next to a storage heater. No tables were cleared after for the dance floor and you were shunted into a tiny space next to the bar ( where several other Christmas parties were) if you wanted to dance. The smell of paraffin from the heaters was over powering. I submitted a complaint and I never heard anything back. My colleague who was also there on the night with her team submitted one also and received rude and disrespectful replies even going so far as to be insulting of the NHS in general. Believe the shocking reviews, I'd rather go to Macdonalds than eat here.

The sprouts on the Christmas lunch were inedible - they were so hard they could not be cut with a knife. The natchos starter was just a mass of over cooked cheese on tortilla. Three of us were eating, and ordered 3 diet Cokes before choosing food. These tasted a cross between Cherry Cola/Dandelion and Burdock and washing up liquid? When we questioned this, we were informed that the Cola is 'mixed up in the back'My friend and I ordered the Turkey dinner and her daughter had turkey fajitas.Reaching for the cutlery, the ceramic pot had a broken base and said knives and forks all fell through the bottom. I then had to select the cleanest of such as some still had food on them from previous diners!Food arrived promptly, and of the 2 white pots on the table, my friend discovered they were both filled with pepper, luckily she had the foresight to sprinkle it into her hand first. Brussel sprouts? well, not only were they hard as marbles, but they had a taste ive never encountered when eating vegetables. They were all left to the side. No cranberry sauce/jelly...or offer to bring any. The turkey fajitas were basically turkey from the dinners, sprinkled in some kind of seasoning and heated further. The turkey itself was rubbery and appeared to have been previously frozen.I decided to risk a dessert and ordered Chocolate Orange truffle, which to be fair was a rock hard triangle of cocoa with hardened cream swirl atop.I was extremely disappointed, particularly with the advertising the venue does and the reputation and standards it has had in the past. I am not a moaner by any means, but it was a catalogue of things that made the whole experience expensive and unpleasant. We made the decision to not return and will look elsewhere for our meet ups. On the plus side, the waitress/bar staff were attentive, even though she explained she had to be shown how to make a Mocha 'in the back'We did voice our concerns regarding the meal....we were given a feedback form to complete.

went here for lunch having had two BA flights cancelled and driving in the ice and snow all night. Then there it was - a quiet and calm pub like setting with a good festive ale and a very tasty burger and fries and very friendly service - relax and off to the airport to try again tomorrow. - A lovely find on my doorstep.

My Husband and I live local to The Manor at Brampton, and as a result find ourselves attending on a regular basis. The food is always excellent, of exceptional quality and piping hot as it should be. The staff are friendly and nothing is ever too much trouble. The setting is perfect all year round, but as the weather gets colder the fire if perfect. A fantastic place to have a nice meal and a few drinks after a long week at work. We also attend when we can for breakfast, sometime even after the night before! no matter when we go there is nothing I could ever criticise.

We came along having booked a table to find there was not a single person in the place. We sat down and ordered drinks to be told there was no more San Miguel after 15 minutes and had to order something else. We then got round to ordering food and we sat for half an hour to be told that there was no ham left for one of the meals even though we ordered 45 minutes previous. Another group came in and had been served, eaten food and gone by the time we even got ours even though they came in and ordered 25 minutes after us! Once the food did come it was fine but this took a very long time for a place that had one table of 4 to look after at first.

Ate here at an event and we were crammed into the room to the right as you come into The Manor, it was so unsafe - we literally sat back to back, side to side like sardines, staff could not come round with food as we were so crammed so we had to pass it down the tables like something from Oliver Twist! Staff yelled at diners 'Soup' 'Prawns' etc and you had to put your hand up and have the food passed to you - and then when everyone eventually got a meal it was so poor! The food was poor quality, badly presented and the veg that came with the main tasted like coal - I was gutted at £25 a head. It was really unsafe to cram people in like that, no one could go to the toilet and fire regulations were not given a thoughts. At one point someone in our group tried to stand and knocked the TV on the wall and a large frame around it fell off onto diners, hitting one on the shoulder. Staff laughed. I was so disappointed in this place, my visit had made me not want to go again, even in a smaller group. And I will certainly never book or attend a large event here.

I feel very comfortable coming here - the staff are very friendly, and I am able to breastfeed my little girl with no issues at all. There is soft play set up for kids to play with, although this is in a seperate room on the side so if you are not a parent and quiet without children this is still perfectly achievable. The Brampton Burrito is my absolute favourite - essentially it is pulled beef served in a giant yorkshire pudding served with roast potatos and gravy....not so great if you want to watch your weight but as a ravenous breastfeeding mamma this is ideal!!!!There is also the option of booking in for a treatment at the spa upstairs, and/or going to the gym next door all on the same premises so lots of entertainment available. They have a TV in the bar area so if there is football/snooker/grand prix this can be turned on on request. Definately a place to reccomend!!!!!!

We popped into the Manor with our young bambino for a weekday lunch and, in short, it was great. We rang ahead to check if we were ok to bring in the little one and we were warmly welcomed; in fact there was another baby chuckling away when we arrived. It is also a lovely looking building up a handsome tree-lined driveway. The food menu was a nice surprise, with loads of choice than I expected, especially for us veggies. When the food arrived, which was swiftly, it looked and tasted very good. We had the Beer Battered Gruyere Croquettes, followed by the Butternut Squash & Spinach Risotto and the Mediterranean Wellington. It was all faultless; in fact my only comment was that it wasn't a Wellington, it was a parcel... Still, I can live with that! We even managed to squeeze in a chocolate Brownie which was equally delish.Overall, really impressed and sure we'll be back for more family-friendly fun.

Having coming to the Brampton manor club , firstly as a member of the gym here, me and my friend whom I'd informed was a brilliant venue with great food and drink. And having being a chef for a number years and working in this environment, I was extremely disappointed to have experience what me and my friend has today, credit to the kitchen staff the food was amazing and Lauren and Ellie saved my experience !!, but unfortunately my trip here was spoiled by the shocking service I have experienced by one waitress unfortunately let my whole experience down. I am even questioning moving gym, after having to ask an other member of staff her name . Well let's start "Charlotte or Lottie" was extremely arrogant threatening to hit us over the head , with the plates she was carrying, telling us about chopping genitals off and initially refusing to go change my friends order as I would have been "making it difficult" for her as he requested no sauce and then continued to say she would hit us for doing so. I am extremely disappointed after recommending this to my friend before coming, as working in catering I am not one to use trip advisor but I feel I need to stress this to you. Shocking

A month ago we had a meal at the Fox and Goose, Old Brampton with family and friends, with a really bad experience costing over£120, and lots of apologies to our friends. We approached management who understood and apologised, compensating us with a voucher we could use at either the Fox and Goose or their other establishment, the Brampton Manor restaurant and spa, Old Brampton, which visited on Tuesday 31 January 2017 for lunch .We ordered three steak bloomer meals with chips and salad, and a soup off the menu. When the steak meals arrived the bloomers appeared as two slices of dry thick white sliced bread. When we asked about the bloomers, we were informed that they didn't have any. What seems to be printed on both the online and restaurant menus, they don't have. The service was not the best, and even presented at the end of the meal with someone else's bill ,instead of our own. After contacting the management, they appeared disinterested, and said they were sorry their food didn't come up to our standard. I pointed out all I wanted was a plate of food as advertised on the menu, served freshly cooked and correct. Which means we will not be returning again to either venue and will advise other friends and relatives to be aware. It appears you should not complain if you're service and food are substandard. They apologised but didn't really seem interested.

Atmosphere lovely, service can be slow, they never seem to have enough staff on to wait tables effectively but the people who do are lovely and cant do enough to help you. The menu isnt very extensive but there is plenty to choose from. The pies are wonderful and the halloumi bloomer was fabulous. Ive had a business meal and two meals with friends, all enjoyed the food. The only thing to be wary of is ringing and booking, I didnt one evening and was disappointed to find the place shut down to customers wanting food due to an event.

Having previously made a very good review I feel I have to write about our experience yesterday which left me highly disappointed. We are regular visitors but after yesterday (and discussions with friends who have visited during December) I will seriously think twice about returning. We preordered our meals but still waited 75 minutes to eat with no apology. Staff basically avoided our table/room. Nobody cleared the table - crackers, glasses etc. Kids food wasn't brought out first and with it being a large table it was a long wait before everyone got their food. I understand this but clearly you can not cater for large parties. I only had a sandwich and chips, the halloumi was stone cold, rubbery and had never seen the grill, there was a massive amount of bread but not much filling. By the time the ketchup arrived (which I asked for twice) I had finished eating. The bar staff were friendly and helped bring drinks over but waiting staff were utterly miserable and unhelpful. Nobody asked us if everything was OK or if we wanted puddings. It was Christmas Eve and it should have been a special lunch but I left feeling disappointed. The table next to us were also complaining about the time they waited.

On Saturday, 17th December, my family and sisters family attended 'Breakfast with Santa ' at 9am. As a family we have experienced a few of these occasions but by far, this has been the BEST experience I have ever encountered. Santa was beyond fantastic! He was extremely realistic in the way he was dressed, how he spoke, how he approached the children, he shown a keen interest in what they had to say, gave plenty of time for my nephew to talk; even tho my nephew was shy, Santa still engaged him in conversation. Santas grotto was magical!! The scene was out of a story - amazing!! The story he told, the songs he sung, his interaction with the children, how he begun and ended the session was beyond my expectations. There was 7 of us altogether and we all came away feeling extremely Christmassy. It was a magical experience. Santa was very willing to have photographs with our children and even held our babies. It was my baby's first Xmas, to have this photograph is priceless. Id like you to pass my gratitude and congratulations to the amazing man who is Santa. He's made our Xmas already. Thank you very much Sheena Allan. Via iPhone.

Saturday night a family gathering of 10 booked for 8pm six weeks bofore. We arrived at 7pm for drinks we had a lot to catch up with before we ate. At 8pm we moved ourselves to our table and waited at 8.25 I had to ask for the menus! Another member of our party asked at the bar for some water for the table and he was given this at the bar therefore having to serve us with the jugs of water and all ten glasses. We were beginning to wonder if this was self service. Any way service did not get much better after a long wait we did eventually order starters which came at 9.20pm!They were very good but as I was starving I think anything would have tasted good! One item was missing from the starters we were not informed of this and thought this had been forgotten but it arrived 10 minutes later as we all finishing our starters.Thankfully the main course followed shortly with no problems but the service was very slow waiting for sauces etc. The food was good no complaints. Took a while when we had finished to clear the plates but not all the table was cleared we remained for another hour chatting and there were still sauce pots and plates scattered round the the table. No dessert menu was offered or a chance to have a coffee. The overall bill was very reasonable £60 per couple and we had 4 bottles of wine plus other drinks. We went for a family dinner. We ordered our meals and then after we had waited for a while a waitress came over to explain that neither of the adults meals were available. It would have been good to be informed of this at the point of order. Then when we were waiting again a couple came into the area in which we were seated worrying the room hadn't yet been set up for a private function. We literally sat there as they moved the tables around us. We asked the bar staff if we needed to move but he said we had 20 minutes before the private booking was due to start so we were fine to stay. This was despite the fact our main course hadn't even arrived. We asked to be moved anyway as having them rearrange the furniture and feeling rushed wasn't making for a pleasant experience. When the food did arrive it was nothing special. Can't believe we paid for the experience. The staff were well meaning but like a previous reviewer said - it was like Fawlty Towers.

What a disaster from start to finish. We were given a free meal as the spa had made a huge mistake by not booking our prepaid day.My friend ordered the vegetarian options as she doesn't eat meat. The sundried tomato bruschetta came piled high with Palma ham! Her ratatouille was hard vegetables and they forgot the side of chips. My main course was burger and chips. This came without cheese as stated and again they forgot to bring any chips. My mum and sister had carvery. On first attempt to get their dinner there was hardly anything left. When they finally got it the vegetables were hard, still had run out of most things such as stuffing broccoli cauliflower cheese. But they couldn't wait around too long as we'd already been in restaurant hour and half and were due to be in spa at 4. Puddings disaster too mine was wrong then they never brought out my replacement my friends was burnt and my mum and sister couldn't have there's as they had run out of time. Completely unprofessional. Spoke to owner who told me he would contact me to try to correct all the errors made. Still waiting again total unprofessional. By 4.10pm all that had been provided was bouncy castle, hola hoops, stepping things for kids to walk with and spiny plates and someone dressed as a bear.At 4pm the face painters and balloon modeller. Not a very exciting event and an age range should have definitely been advertised as my 12 year old didn't want to participate and it was all preschool aged children and therefore a waste of her ticket.Bar staff- I ask for a pimms and the server responded with 'what do you want that with'. First time round another server interrupted her and offered to make up some fruit. 2nd time round the server said do you want lemon and lime with that, I asked for fruit and mint and ended up getting a few chopped strawberries. Pimms is a basic classic British drink and staff should be trained in how to serve this!Large glass of wine is actually rather small!
