We ordered takeaway from the restaurant; waited about 15-20 minutes and food was still piping hot by the time we got home at 10 minutes walking distance. Egg fried rice could use some more salt, crispy squid was slightly too salty but really not bad, beef with garlic and chilli sauce was nice, mixed vegetable foo yung was okay. They gave us a bunch of free crackers which we love. There are of course much better Chinese takeaways in the UK but this isn’t the worse. £22 for those 4 dishes + crackers was unbeatable.

We have just had a very enjoyable meal delivered to us by The Mandarin. We are in Chale Green which is a few miles from Ventnor but the food was delivered piping hot. The ordering was done by phone and we were given an estimate of an hour or more. The food arrived in an hour and 10 minutes. The food was well packaged, the items we had ordered were all correct and the food was very tasty.

Dinner delivered for four. We absolutely enjoyed everything. We all had a different dish and couldn't fault them. Thank you.

Google maps menu link doesn't work. doesn't have a website. girl on the phone makes you repeat everything multiple times and forgets what you said. waiting time is horrendous at 1h 30mins averagely, took them nearly 2 for me this time. food is bland, chips are horrible cheap soggy fries. prices have been raised, over £9 for a crispy chili beef and around the same price for a quatre aromatic duck. No asian drinks, just cans of soft drinks charged at above average prices. overall, not the worst chinese i've ever had, and it's an alternative to other local chinese shops, but certainly not a good one either. Got my order incorrect so had to argue for a partial refund and didn't follow delivery instructions so had to walk down the road in the rain.

We had a take away from The Mandarin whilst on holiday and it was excellent. The delivery took around the time they advised and the food was hot on arrival. Best Chinese take away we’ve had in years, highly recommend the duck pancakes and salt and pepper ribs.

It was like eating Chinese prison food.....the veg was like it was out of a tin....the meat and chicken looked terrible.....how this takeaway is a business is beyond me...its not great when the food hygiene rating is only 3......can't be arsed to try for a 5 rating then.......should be shut down.

Totally disappointed with my food order. Not only was it wrong, but most items tasted bland and watery. Will never be ordering from here again!

Arrived super quick, so the fact it was stone cold was amazing, as for the chips, well, even the dog said no, the curry sauce was actually nice, good news because the rest of it was hideous, never again

Getting worse as the years go on. Really need to stop ordering there but it's local. Food always takes a minimum of a hour delivery. Have had to phone a few times and check where my order has got to.

It wasn't great, ribs okay but the chow me in was the worst I have ever had, hardly any protein as in chicken, beef, pork, prawns, it was so soggy and wet and all the noodles broken in to small pieces, first and last time I go there onlt went there cos the China house was closed and we had friends over, China house is great and much much fresher

Last night in Ventnor we fancied a Chinese and this was the nearest place. From the outside it looks like a 70s throwback but dont let this put you off. We had three dishes and they were all very tasty, really cant complain. Give it a go, you won't be disappointed

Had to wait ages then they had got our order wrong.had such an awful chow mein no sauce curry chewy.chicken really dry and chips stone cold and could just snap them!was really looking forward to it but was rubbish

Food basic,expensive,unfortunately I had the prawn with cashews,which gave me food poisoning,so wouldn't recommend that dish,first and last takeaway from here,not the best start to my holiday

Do not try this food. There are photos on line of bad hygiene and i ordered a meal they delivered it to someone else and told me i had it. Disgraceful service, go to the New chinia house. Proffesional service and amazing food. Still the mandarin have not offered a refund or my food.

Nicely cooked takeaway, not oily or fatty, enjoyable chinese meal. Will certainly visit again while on holiday here.

Price is high but food is nice struggled with this one.. because I couldn’t complain service was good and fast staff are polite and happy. Only reason I wanted to 3 star ⭐️ was the fact I’m tight with money.

Great Chinese food, ticks all the boxes

The lady on the phone took our order address and just hung up.. when the delivery man came to the door, he just blankly looked at us before telling me he didn’t have a card machine, and I should phone back up to pay over the phone. We got our meals to discover the duck was burned completely, and they had given us a different order to what we had asked, all served cold.

Lovely food. Great service. One of the nicest chinese meals I've had in a long time! Hot, fresh and tasty. 👍

We were told the delivery would be half an hour ( we live in Ventnor), it actually arrived after over 2 hours. Food was nearly cold. Had phonecall from delivery driver who was in a completely different road from the address we gave when ordering. Had ordered from this takeaway after a recommendation but will go back to our regular one as they don't take 4 times as long to deliver as they say on the phone.

Great tasting food on time 👍. No it hasn't changed in anyway. But I will honestly say that when they are busy which happens quite a bit that the food orders can not be kept up with so please be kind and hang in there please thank you 🙏

Walked in and ordered tonight. Wait time was reasonable and the food was hot and tasty. Good Chinese would use again.

Order placed at 5.25 .. turns up hour and half later just warm.. only just .. !! Driver blames slow chef .. we call back un happy about the temperature and delivery time.. rude lady over phone hangs up on us .. Despicable service and food wasnt nice either (cold by the time its plated up)

Awful customer services. Order food turns up 1hr and half later cold and spilt all in bag to be told tuff. £30 wasted on inedible food. Don't bother would be quicker and better to go to ANY other Chinese....

Its not often i give 4.5 stars to a chinese takeaway unless i go to London's west end chinatown but i did yesterday to the chinese takeaway in church street Ventnor as it was pretty dam good Tonight i tried The Mandarin ,Friendly staff , picked up 15 minutes of ordering it im not being rude but the food was edible but nothing else ,it filled the gap and it was no cheaper then New china house . don't be put off with the dirty windows or the scruffy paintwork or even the the revues. try Mandarin for yourself .its OK but i wont be using them again .

DO NOT USE. After waiting an hour and 20 minutes, the wrong food turned up. (It was awful quality too). When I called to ask what happened the 'kid' who takes orders simply shrugged and couldn't care less. I asked to speak to the owner. They couldn't be more rude. They couldn't care less. Said they were too busy and hang up! Great. Enjoy being busy while it lasts!

Doesn't look like much when you walk in but the food was fantastic and plenty of it. We were on a camping holiday nearby and this really hit the spot. Good variety and value.

Waited over 2 hours to be told that my food had only just been sent for deliver with no apology, which I find ridiculous. I understand it's a Saturday but 2 hours for one meal is terrible, the person I spoke to was rude and so was the delivery person. Safe to say I will never be ordering from here again.

Customer service is awful! Such a shame as the food is good. Never on time take always have around up to 2 hours after they have said! And staff/delivery man are so rude it's unreal! Even got hung up on when we asked how much longer it would be!

A great family run take away that I've been using longer then I care to admit. The food is always fantastic, the prices reasonable and I've always found them welcoming and helpful. More then happy to give them a lot of repeat custom.
