The Man Of Steel in Newport

What type of pub has 3 gamblers plugged in all day with nobody using them, but paying customers are not allowed to charge their phone due to energy costs. You can charge your phone on public transport but can't in your local pub, what a joke.

Had a roast beef dinner delivered yesterday, can honestly say it was phenomenal, fresh veg, stunning roast potatoes, best roast for a long time. Also staff that take your order, over the phone are so lovely. Delivery diver always polite. Looking forward to next one.

Great portions, friendly staff, usual chain restaurant menus, clean. The car park needs work as in my opinion isnt wheelchair friendly (huge incline). That said over all still a lovely venue to goto. At the time of visiting there was a quiz on. It was well hosted though the quiz should last longer. Will definetly be back.

We used Alison and her team for an outside catering event. We were blown away not only by the quality and abundance of food but also by the quality of the customer service. After booking and arranging all the catering details we had to move our venue at the last minute. Alison went above and beyond not only to provide all the extra details required by the new venue but to support and help in any way she could. On the night of our party everyone commented on how lovely the food was especially all the home made pastries. Thank you Alison we will definitely use you again.

The food was really tasty. Staff was really friendly and they cooked for us even that the kitchen was closed(they reopened it for us). It was a lucky find when we couldn't find a table anywhere in Newport that day.

Over priced food that's not that great. Landlady wasn't very helpful plus we saw people buying what I presume were stolen items with her okay. Not what I expect to see. Let down

Awful food, very over priced and the large lady called Alison displayed no customer service skilled. She blatantly lied to our faces, absolutely shocking. Will never return plus she had people in her pub obviously selling stolen goods from nearby business park. She even advised them to watch cameras. I did record the sad display and forwarded to gwent police disgusting public house Alison whoever you are

Great place to sell stolen goodies, Alison the big landlady will pay half price all the way for dunelm bedding, only the best dorma for Alisons shagbed, and she loves her nicked chocolates, the pub is a proper den of scumbags sadly

Alison did fantastic food at home for 10 people .the food was lovely and fresh with plenty to go around and even some left over food guests to take home .Top quality

Food was ok quality and service polite. £34 for 1 Adult, 1 child and 1 meat-free (no vegetarian choice) adult roast was way above what we expected to pay. No menus, no prices anywhere so came as a shock when paying.

Really expensive 😕 No gin glasses.

Just collected and eaten the best takeaway Sunday roast beef dinner ever, everything on my plate was suburb very well cooked delicious so tasty in everyway portions are huge I definitely recommend you will not be disappointed in anyway. Thank you Man of Steel

Been today for a shower, lovely calm atmosphere, the buffet was beautiful . all fresh and tasted amazing! 😋 haven't been to the man of Steel for years since we moved across town but will be going back soon xxx

We have had quite a few meals at the Man of Steel and as of yet we haven't had a bad one, the staff here are lovely, they are always very friendly, Alison the owner is an amazing cook and the food when it gets to your table is always hot. One of my favourites is the sizzling steak, but I like mine with a bit of a bite to it, which Al does know so she makes it that way for me

Man of Steel is offering take away and delivery meals. The whole menu is available including the Rocky's menu. And the food is just as good as when you eat in. I've had both take away and delivery and both times the food was brilliant. Well worth a try. 👍

Working man's bar with darts board. Could do with a lick of paint. Liverpool fan bar with BT sports.

Having gone to a funeral at the local church we were invited to join the family after the service to the man of steel. Made to feel very welcome by the landlady and her team, but wanted to say how impressed we were with the fabulous buffet laid on by the landlady.

Sunday roast was beautiful but a bit pricey at £9.95 for one course meal. Pub is a bit rough, a fight broke out in the bar area as we were leaving!

If you remember Rocky's in Newport then this is the place for you as Alison runs the pub and serves the selection of food that she did previously. It's our local. If we are out and about, my car always seems to break down in the pub car park and won't restart until we have been in and had lunch 😂. Lovely to go somewhere and have hot freshly cooked food in a warm and friendly pub..

It's ridiculous the amount of reserved table with no one sat on them.

This place is a bit dingy but the beer is good and friendly staff. There are shops nearby and has a pool table, darts and juje box.

A bit old fashioned but great food great service and terrific staff

Mid week visit - very quiet, service was immediately on every visit to the bar. Interior could do with updating. Although we didn't eat, meals come highly recommended.
