Great place, good place, lovely service

Great coffee, lovely atmosphere, good food. Just had my food forgotten a couple too many times to give it a 5. They always put it on eventually, but when I call in 20/30mins before work hoping to have something to eat, it feels really awkward to have to walk up to them again and ask them to toast my toastie 😅

When I visiting and seating in in the coffe house I would like to have a coffe in the mug not in the paper cup. All pleasure gone when barista informed me that even when I stay in I can't have a mug. Better order coffe thru uber eats than walk to town with hope for s nice cup of coffe. Taste average, service polite and friendly

I think it's really bad charging a pound for a baby Chino for kids when at every other coffee shop chain they are free. And when you order they should say they charge.

Just popped in for a takeaway coffee which was great! Didn’t get anything to eat but their menu sounded nice. The outdoor seating area was clean and had arrangements of flowers, so cute! Would recommend.

Lovely little coffee shop for a lovely coffee

Everything on their menu sounds good. Everything is slightly unique but not too far out of the box that it makes you not want to try it. The pastries look fabulous. I had the special which was a hot Apple cider and it reminded me so much of autumn time in The States. They had a chocolate brownie there that looked out of this world. Their hot chocolate is not the best. And the calf itself could use a little bit more pizzazz but it’s in a wonderful location and I will definitely back be back. They even have lots of amazing vegan options.

It used to be really good but it's gone downhill recently. They know they'll get customers because of the location and nostalgia, so I guess they don't care if they get it wrong anymore.

Coffee #1 is an established coffee shop in Newport and has stood the test of Covid-19 lockdown unlike other coffee shops in Newport. Coffee + food is very good here.

Very long wait, people queuing in front of me even gave up. Lots of chatting going on but not much serving. Ordered a wrap heated up, was hardly warm and not great. The large americano was very weak and watery, did not drink it. Lots of clutter and chairs stacked up near the entrance and general weird arrangement of seating. Normally a fan of coffee 1, but this is by far the worst I’ve visited.

Waited to be served at the counter for 5 minutes and was ignored, staff to busy putting food into storage containers and talking to each other. Decided to go elsewhere and got served straight away.

Excellent frappe and cheesecake. Suggest not putting GF options in fridge with other cakes though (my sis couldnt eat a thing!) - defeats the object of having GF for ceoliacs....

One of the best places to grab a coffee in Newport. This Coffee#1 is situated within Friar's Walk and has a nice view and atmosphere around it. There's plenty of seating to take up here. Studying here would be really great.

Great food and drink choices. Staffing is much better, a previous experience I was not impressed by but have since not had an issue. Loving the Honduras single origin espresso on atm its lush! And their chocolate frappe is a great treat for my little boy. He loves it!

Like many of the chain coffee places, you can't really go wrong - it's just a matter of personal choice. IMHO this is one of the better places to have coffee. The vibe and coffee range is similar to Costa/Starbucks, but the cakes are Brill. Sit out in the sun in the square or in the sofas, pews and comfy chairs inside. Not sure why but it seems cleaner than the competition.

Don't reccomend the matcha lattes because they can't make them. It's so dissapointing to pay £4 for a cup of steamed milk with undrinkable powder at the bottom. I don't think it's the staff's fault, I think they need to be taught how to do it

It's always ridiculously hot in there and service is OK. Some staff members are more concerned standing around on their phones than serving staff.

Review from a couple of years ago: used to be our go to coffee shop however took a massive downturn with awful manners and consistently got our drinks wrong and/or tasted bad, though atmosphere is nice and it's conveniently close to town centre near all the shops. Rated ⭐⭐ Update: we went recently and it's much better. Staff were nice and drinks correct and tasted delicious! Perhaps it will be our go-to again?

had a strawberry frappe, it was lovely but the strawberry syrup tasted very artifical compared to starbucks

Popped in with my mum and brother for a coffee whilst around town. First time here and we all enjoyed our latte which was very nice and crafted to perfection if I do say so myself!! Very busy only two members of staff on duty, slow service. Two coffee and some chocolate cake.

Not as good as when it opened. Very noisy at times when staff decide to clatter the plates. A recent visit shows still noisy and clatter of plates 😕

Awesome food an drinks friendly staff

Nice place to sit down with a coffee and relax. Comfy chairs and laid back atmosphere. Service was a bit slow when we were there, but it was quite busy and only 2 staff were taking orders and preparing the orders. Good choice of non-dairy milks. The flat white was one of the nicest I've had in a long while.

Fabulous place! Coffee delicious, hot chocolate delicious and the frappes are to die for. So many flavours and they're very naughty with lots of whipped cream, yummy yummy.
