The Malt House in East Devon

3 of us ate here, all had different food and we all enjoyed our meals. Prices were reasonable and portions good.

We had previously visited the Malt House in March 2020 just as lockdown was starting, so it was great to come back and see they had survived so well. We booked ahead, and yes to echo the previous review, put a message on your phone if not around, but we had a lovely meal in a very friendly, homely pub. Fish and chips was great but huge portion and the mixed grill very good. This sounds really picky , but have proper ketchup though (Heinz). Would definitely return whenever in Seaton.

We have been phoning for 5 days to book a meal.. Sometimes for as long as 5 minutes.. If they answered the phone I would be able to book and give a true comment.. It's really frustrating..

I’m not a 5/5 regular, it has to be something special, and this place is. Really relaxed, music in background great, staff second to none, and the food was the mutts nuts, after going to a fair few places for food we have an easy winner in the malt shovel, I had the belly pork meal, and my wife had the lasagne, garlic sourdough bread, and we both absolutely loved it. Prices were great, and were in beautiful seaton. I’m tempted to go back tomorrow, or move here . Really impressed in every way, and the lads behind the bar were all A1, I really can’t find anything to moan about. SUPERB. Well done

Ate here twice while while we were on holidays, thoroughly enjoyed both meals. The lamb shank and the pork belly being particular favourite. The sharing nachos were huge and very tatsty! All the meals were well priced as were the drinks.

Ate there 2 days running food good value, went this evening all closed up. It is holiday season for goodness sake

We ate here several times during our stay. All the staff were really nice despite being so busy. There was a good range of GF food which was always well cooked and hot. The hake is delicious. However I have only given them 4 dots as their only GF puddings was ice-cream and given the moment of effort they put into the mains, I think they could have managed a GF brownie at least.

We arrived in the area without booking anywhere to eat, but rather than simply say ‘we’re full’ The Malt House fitted us in if we could come ‘now’ and free up the table ready for the next sitting. We booked expecting standard good pub fare, but these guys far exceeded our expectations.The food was cooked very well, generous portions, nice and hot and despite being busy, prompt. All the guys we met (we booked for our second night there and then, having spied at least three other tempting dishes on other tables) we’re good natured and friendly without being over the top.The decor and surroundings are typical British pub, so nothing to get excited about, but we went for the food and recommend you to do the same if in the area. Best to book ahead though unlike us!

Whilst visiting Seaton for the day we looked for a nice pub to go to for lunch.We found the Malt House on Tripadvisor and called in for lunch, we were not disappointed the service was good and food was very well presented and tasty.. All of the waiting staff were very pleasant (Special mention to Danny our waiter:).Would definitely recommend the Malt House for good food and look forward to visiting sometime in the future when holidaying in the area again.

We visited on our first night in Seaton, and it was so good that we went back twice more. The draft beers were quality, the food was reasonably priced and the cooking and presentation were excellent. It was all served in a nice atmosphere by very friendly and efficient staff. Would definitely recommend a visit - or three.

Visited this weekend…we rang up Sunday afternoon & managed to book a table for that evening. Went with my parents, partner & our three young daughters. We arrived early but it was no problem and we were shown direct to our table. We got service straight away, they initial got my mums drink order wrong but changed it straight away with no issues. The food was delicious!!!! Cannot fault it at all. Everyone finished their plate…including the kids! It was very family friendly. All the staff were attentive and friendly. I would definitely recommend and go back.

We visited this lovely pub for lunch and drinks, the staff were lovely, friendly and efficient..they couldn’t do enough for us!! The food was delicious high quality pub food and we ate every scrap!! The onion rings were superb and i would highly recommend the steak ciabatta.We will be back thank you

We called in without a booking and luckily managed to get the last free table. The place is a pub/restaurant with table service (covid restrictions), but that said the quality of the food was very good - certainly a higher standard than your average pub grub.We called again the following night as most other places in town were closed, but couldn’t get in as was fully booked.Make sure to book if you wish to eat here.

I visited with my family in a small group last Saturday. The Malt House serves good, plentiful, uncomplicated food well and the young staff were without exception very friendly, professional and helpful. I particularly enjoyed my tagine (a replacement for the unavailable veggie chilli), full of lovely squash and flavour. The helpings are large and the prices very reasonable. You would need to book for a Saturday (or any) night over the summer I imagine, as it was busy.

As a local I have been here on several occasions .so I decided to take my family here at 5pm for a meal .There were nine of us in total.We sat outside as the main restaurant was booked.The table near the entrance was full of locals drinking and swearing so loud! I had 5 young children with me and my teenage daughter. They kept commenting about my daughter too .It was a horrible and unpleasant experience as we were all women .We didn't order any food or drinks and walked away.As we did the waitress came out and did ask why we were leaving and I did tell her.I certainly will not be returning and I can't believe the pub management allows it as the staff were with them when we first arrived chatting and laughing etc 16th August 2021 at 5pm

This was only used as a 'watering hole' but the beer and service are great. It is very busy as a place for people to eat. The outside area offers table service for drinks and this was much appreciated.

Decent pub grub, nothing fancy, in the middle of Seaton. Very busy. Hunters Chicken and chicken jalfrezi both very good. Be sure to book during busy periods.

You must order food by 8pm and we nearly missed it as bus was late.But staff were helpful and we got our order in.Had the Salmon with Dauphinois and it was superb.Desserts are also great had the Rocky Road.Nice pub, great location but wish it was open later as it closes at 10pm.

The only place we could get a meal but were not disappointed, food was good and the service was friendly definitely recommend.

I am an extremely fussy eater and vegetarian as well. We hadn’t booked a table and went and asked if we could eat as we hadn’t booked and they squeezed us in. My husband had the burger loaded with everything and he said it was very nice and good quality meat too. I had the bean chilli and enjoyed it very much I did pick out the peppers in it and put them on the side but they were nice and big so I could take them out! Great service by them and very pleasant and welcoming staff the place was nice and clean and sanitised the tables.

We enquired if they were serving Sunday lunch, was told be the server no but luckily the chap behind the bar overheard and said they do lamb shank and pork belly on the main menu so we booked a table. We weren’t expecting much but we both thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Service was also good. Sunday lunch doesn’t seem to be a thing in Seaton but this was a great alternative

A really friendly pub, food delicious, nothing too much trouble, the young staff very attentive, had majority of our main meals here.

After a last minute decision to go out for lunch we settled on trying the Malt House - lived here all our lives (local girls) and have NEVER been! We were not disappointed, lovely friendly staff, laid back atmosphere but it was welcoming and the food was delicious. Burgers as big as your head and starters that fill you right up! I couldn’t fault our visit at all, the Covid-19 rules and regulations they need to operate by were being done, everything was sanitised and clean. I honestly can’t explain enough how amazing our visit was. Our waiter Freddie was amazing in making sure we had everything we need, we were happy and satisfied with everything, really friendly and had a genuine love for his job and what he was doing, and that spreads across to customers too. For someone who suffers with anxiety and finds it difficult to go out to lunch due to it, I think it’s safe to say I will definitely be back again, as I had such an amazing time and never felt more at comfortable and at ease whilst eating out. Thank you Malt House, Freddie and the rest of the team. Amazing work in such trying times x

Welcoming experience however service was poor had to ask for menus and food was mediocre no steak knife provided with steak order. Serving staff didn’t ask if the food was ok during our dinner. Vegetables were definitely frozen and my starter of toasted ciabatta def wasn’t toasted. On a plus the chips were good and our waiter was chatty at the end shame though it could have been so much nicer. Management please heed my response

Stayed in Seaton for one night and chose The Malt House after reading a number of reviews for pubs in the area. Couldn’t have made a better choice. Staff very friendly and efficient. Food was excellent and great value. Would highly recommend

We had a very nice lunch Monday 14 June 2021. The staff were all attentive, friendly and helpful. We had a really good meal and pint well served too. Very swift service. Always visit when that way.

We are fairly local people and visit Seaton even out of season. We have not been to The Malthouse before, but we can definitely recommend it. We received good, competent and cheerful service from a young man. We will definitely visit again

Excellent! as always missed coming here during all our covid problems, But, first time back, we where found a table although pub really busy, food excellent, service excellent and friendly thankyou you to landlady and team see you soon on our next day trip

We just stopped off for lunch on a busy bank holiday Monday. Quickly shown to a table and given menus. We just had sandwiches and chips but all delicious, falafel and hummus sandwich especially good. Staff were attentive and friendly. It was busy so we had a bit of a wait for food and to pay but staff very apologetic. Great find will definitely visit again when in Seaton.

Had a meal with my partner. Whilst short staffed they were extremely accommodating and we were more than happy to wait a little longer (as indicated as you enter) to enjoy the wonderful food. It’s a relaxed and friendly pub. We had a very tasty Mousaka which was not on the Menu but due to the popularity of the pub a couple meals had been sold out. We were very impressed with the standards of Covid security and will be back there soon.

We’ve enjoyed many a meal and drink in this pub over the years, but we were horrified by the attitude of the staff last night when we called in for a drink after an evening walk along the seafront.There were tables outside but it was unclear if we should order inside or wait for table service. I popped my head round the door and said we wanted to sit outside for a couple drinks including a coffee; we were promptly told sit outside.We waited for a few mins until eventually a young lad came out and rather rudely asked us what we wanted. One of our party asked for a decaf coffee and we asked what ales they had on.The waiter shrugged his shoulders and said ‘I don’t know, I’m new’. We waited a moment then asked if he could find out.He returned a few mins later and threw a wine list on the table. We pointed out that this didn’t include any beers on it, he shrugged his shoulders again, we then asked if they sold beers or was it only wine, once again he said ‘I don’t know’. Getting rather frustrated at this point we asked if he could find out.He then came back with a small piece of paper and read out the names of these lagers.We asked again if they had any ales on.One again he said he didn’t know.I suggested I come in and look at the beers that were available, he reluctantly agreed.Once inside I saw they had a good selection of beers on and I pointed to one and asked for 2 pints of it and a decaf coffee.Another member of staff rudely shouted “we don’t do coffee”.We left without having a drink.Whilst I appreciate things have only just reopened and many staff members are new and untrained, I think it’s very bad that the person responsible for taking drink orders outside on a bank holiday weekend doesn’t know the difference between ale and lager, and if they serve hot drinks or not.It seems other people have had similar experiences this yearI hope you get your act together for the rest of the season!

Diabolical. Normally have such a perfect experience in this pub but my opinion of this restaurant was ruined tonight. Where do I start!? All seemed fine when we ordered, no problems, no concerns. This was until the food arrived. Starters came, again they were perfect. Then the mains arrived. Or I should I say some mains arrived. 5 of us were eating this evening, for only 3 to receive their food. 1 of them received a side without their main meal. We complained and stated we hadn’t received 2 of our meals. The staff member came back saying, I’m sorry but the runner didn’t keep him updated? 15 minutes later one meal came out but not the last meal. 10 minutes later we’re still waiting for the final meal to come out, whilst their side is sitting there getting cold. Finally the meal comes out, whilst everyone else has finished theirs. To add to this drinks took a lot longer to come out, and they weren’t difficult to create. It was obvious they were overwhelmed especially down to the fact that 3 tables complained at the same time. Won’t be attending anytime soon.

Excellent pub, very busy on Monday lunch time. Served by Liam, very well looked after, food was very good quality, hot and looked very pretty. We try fish and chips, pork belly, fishcakes and lamb shank and all food was equally very good. Thank you for a lovely lunch and thank you for allowing us to bring our own cake. Very much recommended!

Called on the morning to book a table, lady was really helpful and got us all booked in. When we arrived on the evening, was greeted straight away and taken to our table. Straight away was offered drinks. Within a short time we had drinks and menus. Menu had abit of everything burgers, lasagna, mixed grill, hunters chicken etc.. and kids meals too such as chicken, fish fingers or sausage and mash. Food was nice, good portions, temperature and served quick. COVID measures all in place felt very safe. Friendly staff and reasonable prices

We went to the Malt House for a quick drink. Looks nice from the outside but not so nice on the inside. The male staff member we spoke to seemed authoritarian ("sit there") and disinterested. After waiting a while for table service and not getting any, we decided to take our custom elsewhere. The pub was empty.

A week's holiday in Seaton included an evening meal at the Malt House. It was busy but staff coped well and were polite and professional. Starters were Thai chilli chicken soup; very tasty. Wife enjoyed her pork chop but found it difficult to eat as it was served in a bowl. Chop perched on top of the mash and vegetables looked nice but try cutting it that way!I ordered the halloumi with couscous but was very disappointed with it. Halloumi was deep fried slices that were overcooked and brittle. Tasteless. Saw others diners eating chicken and fish and chips; wish I had ordered them instead!Beer and g&t were fine. Final bill very acceptable.Different mains for me would have earned higher score.

OMG amazing food. Can highly recommend lasagne, panko chicken burger, salmon with the best dauphinose potatoes, hake and hunters chicken. A place not to be missed.

We visited several times whilst staying in Seaton and each time the service, distancing measures and food were very good. Recommended for lunchtime sandwich, the chicken BLT is great! Evening meals equally good and fair prices.

Pre booked this lunch due to the Covid situation very friendly welcome with all staff wearing masks, table very nice and clean, reasonable selection on the menu, noodles with cod was excellent, hunters chicken lovely, Tuna melt very good, 2 cokes and a large Pinot for £40.00.Would recommend this place

We know this pub very well. It is most certainly not smelly and the staff are definitely not unhelpful as suggested elsewhere!The food has been good in the past and certainly the dishes we saw being served looked nice and people looked like they were enjoying them. The Covid compliance was excellent. The staff could not have been more friendly and quite what was expected elsewhere we are not sure unless the staff were expected to bow, curtsy and throw themselves at their feet. It’s not The Savoy but a pub in Seaton!

Went in looking for something to eat.....dreadful smell, dirty and staff couldn't be bothered to help or organise a table. They weren't busy....Left and had a super meal elsewhere.

We spent two nights in Seaton and returned both nights to the Malthouse as the pub was clean and the staff were attentive and welcoming. Our group thoroughly enjoyed the Singapore noodles with cod and the crab cakes and fish and chips were generous in size and super tasty!

Staff are really nice and helpful. I had the burger it was nice but it wasn't cooked all the way through. I did send it back and I was told I should of asked for it to be well done and I pointed out that I wasn't asked at the time of ordering and it didn't say on the menu, so maybe this should be something that the staff ask. The bun should be toasted on the inside.

stayed in Seaton 3nights end of September.tried several pubs, but could find none better then the Malthouse. Good food selection [cod & chips more like Whale & chips }.Felt very safe & staff enforced covid rules to the book.Ate here 2 nights .Food brilliant both nights.Minor gripe, on second night staff were not as quick with table service for drinks.Would recommend the Malthouse.

Hadn’t booked but called in for a drink. Food looked good so decided to have a meal, the lasagne was great followed by apple pie and custard. The staff were fabulous, friendly and very attentive. Very covid aware but lovely atmosphere. Only slight gripe, the doors were left open for obvious reasons and it got really chilly, ended up eating with my coat on but overall an enjoyable evening.

I pre-booked a table as we were coming down to Seaton for a short stay. COVID-19 adhered to in restaurant. Meals were lovely and hot with prompt service and friendly staff. A nice evening out considering the circumstances!

the pub has great hospitality and cleanliness. in the current situation they are doing a really great job in keeping people very safe

24 hours ago my partner and I walked through the door of the Malt House in the hope that we would be able to get a meal because our first 3 ports of call were full. We were lucky and took the last table 10 minutes before the kitchen closed. The 3 team members who we had conversations with were very friendly and the place was Covid safe as much as possible. We ordered Lasagne and Hunter's Chicken, both were very well presented and extremely tasty. We wished we had discovered it earlier in our 5 day visit to Seaton.

The pub sits at the centre of Seaton and although fairly plain to look at it’s a real find. Old fashioned proper pub with lots of food food options. Big portions too. With lots of history and a cosy feel if you just want food it’s one of the best places in town

I had Cod and Chips and my husband a chicken Caesar salad. The service was very good and every precaution taken in regards to Covid. The Cod and chips were delicious, only criticism was that the portion was huge. Enough for 2. Husband cleaned his plate and had a piece of my Cod too. Chips were beautifully crispy. Didn’t get our waitress name but she was super friendly and very efficient Would come back if I was in the area.

I visited this great pub as part of a booked party of six. Due to their excellent safety measures, we were seated at two separate tables with a gap between us. The staff were friendly and professional, making us very welcome and immediately taking our drinks order. We were given plenty of time to look at the menu and didn't feel rushed to place our order, even though the pub was very busy. All of our meals were hot, obviously home made and the fish was very fresh. They have a one way system in operation and hand sanitizer is placed in convenient locations. The staff all seemed very aware of regulations and didn't hand us our drinks, but placed them on a tray for us to remove them. I would highly recommend this pub and will definitely be a repeat visitor, very good value for money too.

Visited this lovely pub, only got a table because someone had'nt shown up for their table for 4. Food was hot fresh and tasty. Social distancing not a problem Returned the next night just for drinks, we were shown to a table, lots of regulars there, lots of hand sanitizer around, staff all following rules, felt very safe.

COVID 19 WARNING!!!!! This is only my 5 review ever but I am horrified at the behaviour of some staff at the Malt House Today 2:30 We were seen to our table it was nice and clean and the lady took our drink and food order all well and good the drinks and food were delivered to the table again all good Then a man behind he bar I believe his name was Rick but not 100% sure started coughing in to his hands every two or three minutes I was sat opposite him and watched as he coughed and coughed about 10 times whilst continuing to pour drinks and make tea/coffees etc I asked for the bill and told the waiter what had been happening he said sorry and that he would have a word with him. A minute or so later Rick was behind the bar coughing again and the waiter said nothing to him so I did.He stood there and lied to my face saying that he had been using hand sanitiser under the bar but he hadn’t I pointed out that I had been sat opposite him and that he hadn’t used anything his response was “Alright Mate Alright “. We Rick FYI NO! It’s not Alright You pair this with the pub not taking Names and contact details it far from Alright!!Take my advice and give them a wide birth!!

Passing through, our accommodation for the 1 night wasn't doing food only a BBQ and only a few doors away. Food was lovely, staff really friendly and helpful, would recommend

pre booked table for 6 no problem,on arrival had to wait whilst the table and chairs were sanitised,lovely great fresh cooked food,we all had something different and and ate it all,good prices and well distanced apart,it was only a couple of of people who couldn't be bothered to keep distance in passing.

I did not feel social distancing was adered to, the tables seemed to close together. Luckily we were on a window table so away from other tables. My wife had Salmon which a first seemed ok but as she got to one end she found it was still raw, her vegs were also cold. I had Gammon well thats what they called it. I would call it a thick slice of bacon char grilled, very disappointing. Because my first choice was sold out I rushed to pick something else and didnt notice it was either egg or pineapple so i had both. They charged £1.25 for the egg, bit expesive considering 10 eggs for £1 in supermarkets. The server was friendly and attentive so no complaints their. Needless to say never again.

Pre booked before visiting and when we got there was directed to our table and asked is there only 6 of you now?? Which I thought was strange as I've booked for 6 but the paper left on the table stated 8 people? (And I did confirm the details back over the phone with the gentleman after I prompted him to take my contact number ‍♀️) the waitress (receipt says Sally so assume that was her name) was very friendly and the service was quick. The food unfortunately wasn't great. My daughter ordered the prawn starter- which looked and tasted lovely! But after that it went down hill. My mum ordered the salmon which she thought was lovely with the potatoes (the veg was cold) but then further into the meal she found the fish raw (Sally apologised and took it off the bill) my son had the children fish fingers which was lovely not problem with them but he had ordered the prawn skewers off the sides off the main menu but it failed to mention that they cooked in pepper so they were too hot for him. My dad and other son ordered the gammon but it was more like salty bacon- I've never seen such thin pieces of gammon certainly not what either of them excepted. I ordered the mix grill which was ok but nothing special. My youngest son wanted some ice cream afterwards but they only had chocolate sponge or apple crumble left (which I get as with covid19 places aren't stocking up fully incase they have to close and sally directed to a local ice cream parlor). If it hadn't of been discounted due to the government eat out scheme I would of been upset if I had to pay more for what we got. Sadly I wouldn't recommend.

Absolutely amazing, definitely not your typical frozen pub food.I had Salmon with dauphinois potatoes and veg, my husband had Hunters Chicken. All was beautifully cooked, fresh, hot and very tasty. It was my favourite meal of the whole trip. Staff were lovely and very helpful. All very clean too.

Had a meal here twice on our stay and must say the staff were very helpful, mixed grill was great and scampi and chips was to die for,all washed down with the ruby otter ale. Social distancing was excellent.

We had lunch at the Malt House in mid August. Their outside tables were well spaced to allow for social distancing and they had hand sanitiser for use by customers. Service was good and the food excellent. I had fish and chips which was superb. 2 nice sized pieces of fish and plenty of chips and peas with a pot of tartar sauce.With the eat out to help out subsidy our 2 meals and 2 drinks came to £17.50.Absolute bargain !

Came into the malt house today and had some food, our waitress sammy took our order but little beknown to me I ordered the wrong thing when it arrived she took it back and swapped my chicken burger for a normal burger so helpful and friendly will visit again

Having seen the reviews, we decided to give it try maybe we went on an off night we had to wait ages for anyone to even take our order for drinks when we did order even that was slow, we ordered our food a couple of us picked out the salmon 20 minutes later we were told sorry no salmon could you pick something else that should of been done sooner very poor. Food in general was average at best.

Decided to visit this establishment for an evening meal and was pleasantly pleased with the quality of the food and excellent service. Left feeling well satisfied. Lacked atmosphere but I guess that the current covid situation is still keeping patrons away

First holiday away with our little 16 week old Frenchie so was nervous about where to take her etc but found this pub and couldn’t fault it! The staff were all so friendly and the meal we had was lovely which is why we ended up there again 2 nights later! Would definitely come here again in the future.

Both meals we had which were the Mixed Grill and Lamb moussaka arrived quickly and were very tasty. Service was excellent as always .

Outstanding service and even better food . Was greeted at the door which was a lovely touch . Overall the service was tip top ! Had a lovely meal with family and food was delicious. Tried to book in the next night but shut on tuesdays apparently ( just at the moment )

We came for the gammon and chips, and it didn't disappoint! One of the party had steak, and it was perfect! Apple pie to finish. Great simple food, well cooked. Shame there isn't a little more choice on the menu, but not a big problem. Definitely worth a visit. Very friendly, helpful staff.

Went for a few drinks before (planned) take away, however got settled and never left, stayed for fish and chips which was excellent. Have been a few times before and always good solid pub food with friendly service.

I've had a lovely visit at this pub today. The staff, namely Liam have been awesome whilst rushed off their feet. The new guidelines have made working in a pub double difficult but everyone here has adapted perfectly. Thank you guys, we will visit again.

Large pleasant pub, the menu is typical of a large chain and the food was what you would expect but not very inspiring, just average. What wasn’t average was the excellent service we had from the 2 ladies who served us. It was quiet and a Sunday night in February but they were so friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble, they are a credit to the business.

We stayed at the Premier Inn in Seaton over the weekend and this pub looked like the best choice in the town. We went in early (5.30pm) and it was busy (it was half term).Lots of tables reserved but the pub is bigger than it looks from the outside.Found a table and ordered our food at the bar. Efficient, friendly and helpful staff. Good cider (Symonds NOT Strongbow!) and choice of real ale.I had the veggie chilli which was really good and my partner had the hunter's chicken which he enjoyed.Well priced food but drinks were expensive.Good service and would definitley eat here again when staying in Seaton.

We were recommended to come here as I was close to our accommodation. The staff are friendly, lots of tables and a fair range of food. My daughter had the veg chilli and really enjoyed the dish with the nachos and cream on the side.My disappointment was based on the extremely limited options for gluten free food.

Highly recommended local Pub, excellent food,friendly service and cosy atmosphere the fish was amazing AND the bonus was they sell Portuguese beer Sagres. the childrens menu was great and the children were made to feel very welcome.

Not much to say about my visit here We were almost the only people in the pub It may be because it was a wet evening in 2 January. May be better in the summer for a place to visit

Good pub grub with added bonus of a nice atmosphere helpful staff went with friends on a wet Friday afternoon for a late lunch and nothing was too much trouble for the staff would visit again

After a short wander around town we chose the malt house for Sunday lunch. Friendly and attentive staff helped us all the way. We chose a table and it was immediately wiped over and a welcome offered. We ordered 2 roasts which arrived promptly and were very tasty.

We had a celebration meal at The Malt House. Family of four. Great service. Food was amazing we all thoroughly enjoyed it. The chicken burger in panko breadcrumbs is huge tasty and one of the best chicken burgers I've had. In fact it's my best in the UK. Then the chunky chips yep their chunky & amazing. Homemade beef burger & lasagna were also large portions & tasted amazing too. So glad we decided to eat here. We will be back when next in the area.

Chose my meal of salmon as it came with fresh vegetables which was welcome a few days into our holiday. ! Chicken for my fellow diner was also good as was the Otter ale. Good selection of gin for me! No website . . Menu could have been put on their facebook page.I took a photo when passing beforehand!

No allergen list available and perception given that we were being a problem because my 2 year old son had allergies.

Called in with family for midday meal and all seemed OK to start with. When food arrived it was dry, cool and not very nice. The wife's fish dish - sea bass- was dry and most was unpalatable, broccoli on all dishes was beyond 'al dente'. When asked if everything was to our liking there were on comments when told it was rubbish, but would speak to the kitchen. No nothing happened so don't care was the impression. Glad we all live 100's of miles from this place.

Popped into the Malt house for lunch, dogs welcome too, beautiful wooden beamed ceiling and a real "smugglers" atmosphere, plenty room for us and dogs, we chose a table in a corner by the window, lovely greeting form the two young lads working there, great menu and one of the lads taking our order also pointed out a full stein of dog gravy bones on the window for treats for our dogs, very thoughtful, right, lunch, I ordered fish and chips as I had a "craving" lol and missus ordered an open sandwich of brie and sun dried tomatoes, service was quick and wow, as you can see in the photos, both quantity and quality of the food was superb, I can whole heartedly recommend a visit to this superb pub.Prices also were a lot cheaper than we expected. All in all a superb pub we would love to visit again.

Our first time to Seaton and first holiday with our young dog.

We were looking for a quick bite at lunchtime and what a winner the Malt House turned out to be. Just had a falafel roll and some chips but what chips!!! best i've had for a long time and the felafel definately homemade, along with a good pint, a decent glass of wine along with the friendly and well turned out staff made the perfect lunch.

With damaged furniture, feathers on the floor and dark decoration the atmosphere is off putting. The food was ok though. In need of another freshen up.
