This place is bloody lovely. Amazing food, staff are attentive, polite and welcoming. I've been here a few times for dinner and a roast and it's always been great!

That roast was smashing! So unbelievably good, and the service was ace - Bo was an excellent server, couldn’t recommend the place more.

This used to be one of my favourite restaurants but it’s gone downhill in the last few months - so sad. It’s so quiet on a Friday/Saturday night, dinner menu isn’t nearly as interesting as it was, and service pretty meh. What a shame as this place used to be fabulous :(

They don't run anything but the roast menu on the Sunday, so couldn't get a vegan burger. Then they only had 1 vege option on the Sunday menu as the wellington was sold out. The the Yorkshire puddings were frozen and the roast wasnt great. Especially considering it was £20 an absolute rip off.

My sister took my here today for my birthday lunch. The staff were welcoming and attentive. I received a free drink for my birthday (almost worth being embarrassed by the birthday badge and tiara my sister made me wear!). We both had the traditional breakfast, it was lovely. We also both had the elderflower and soda which was really refreshing on a hot day. They kindly accommodated my sister bringing a cake and candles for me (more embarrassment!). Would recommend.

Friendly and attentive service combined with fantastic food. Their breakfast is the best I've had in a while, everything cooked to absolute perfection!

Came in at 3.25pm smack between lunch and dinner service, met with friendly team, nothing too much trouble. We were only after a snack and needing GF I would have been happy with a bowl of chips. Team offered us scotch eggs and croquettes (not on the menu at that time of day). Divine! Such a treat, can't recommend this place highly enough!

Nice to atmosphere but expensive drinks

Don’t usually make reviews but was extremely disappointed here seeing the high reviews. Overpriced and awful quality food. Food was so extremely bland - felt like a Wetherspoons breakfast, I was eating outside and I got brought my food and had to wait a while to even get cutlery, by which point my food was cold. Only positive was the eggs were cooked nicely, otherwise would have been 1 sausage , 1 bacon, beans. But yeah no flavour and completely bland - not enjoyable. Would recommend Lounge instead for same price way better breakfast, atmosphere and staff. Staff were so disinterested and mood/rude. Absolute con for £15. Would avoid.

Top notch breakfast. Even catered for a change in.. my menu from smoky bacon to streaky. Poached eggs were perfect. Overall excellent meal. Thankyou

Food was nice ... but it took +50min for it to arrive and the coffee took +30min. The restaurant atmosphere is nice and I suggest booking a table to avoid issues. I ordered the Potato Cake which was tastefull, nice tomato on the side with the eggs on top !! Hollandaise sauce was a little tasteless.

If you're looking for somewhere for a chilled brunch, avoid this place. Music was way too loud and not at all relaxing. Try Mediterraneo or Tobacco Factory quiet room instead.

First visit, walk-ins but greeted well and table found. 30 min wait for food but they did tell us. Fish cakes and eggs Benedict were good. Spicey Bloody Mary excellent. Staff very friendly, even told us where to park for free next time. Has a nice vibe about it.

There is a noisy, friendly but cool vibe here. The food was lovely and reasonably priced. We had a great time but it may have been too loud for older patrons.

An absolutely stunning meal guided by really pleasant, knowledgeable and friendly staff! The meal was expensive, but the portions were huge! Totally worth the price in my opinion. The pork hot pot was enormous and and so rich with flavour. The onglet steak starter was the stand out dish for me. I wish this was a main so I could have eaten more of it. My partner had the lamb which was unbelievable well cooked, it melted in the mouth and the presentation was nothing short of Michelin Star! The cocktails were delightful and perfectly balanced which set the tone for a perfect evening in Bedminster.

This is a lovely independently owned cafe on North Street. I've only eaten here a handful of times, but it never fails to impress. We had: Eggs Benedict. English Topped with Ham Hock, Shallots, Pickles & Capers, Poached Eggs & Hollandaise... ...with added Sausage & Black pudding because is was extra hungry. The Malago Smoked Bacon, Sausage, Black Pudding, Bubble & Squeak, 2 Eggs, Beans, Mushrooms, Slow Roasted Tomato, Buttered (GF) Granary Toast Staff and food were great. Perfect way to start a day! @bristolian_foodie

The 4 of us had dinner with cocktails/mocktails this weekend. The food, drinks, service and overall atmosphere were all amazing. Thoroughly recommend!

We are here two weekends in a row, once for brunch and once for Sunday lunch. Both of which were excellent. The staff were friendly and and the food was great

Maybe we got them on a bad evening. They are probably trying to cover too many bases, so I really couldn't recommend for a posh meal out.

Definitely the best place for roast dinner! But to be honest all the food is amazing and you want to be disappointed!

Came here with my aunt, my Dad's mate and his daughter for breakfast. Me and my aunt had traditional breakfast and my Dad's mate and his daughter had mega breakfast. Breakfast was absolutely top notch, best I have ever had. Fantastic service (well done to staff here!) Atmosphere was a friendly and welcoming one. Malago is also a dog friendly restaurant, we took my aunt's dog Dexter with us, and staff gave him water and dog treats. Will definitely come here again. Cheers. Ben

Had a fantastic Sunday Lunch here on New Year's Eve. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was top notch. Highly recommend

Great to hear friendly banter between staff and their regular customers. Extremely, accomodating regarding assisting with moving to an alternative table. The Tempura Fried Pickles King Oysters Mushrooms were amazing. The batter was so light and crispy and the mushrooms had a similar texture to Calamari. Unfortunately, I do not have the same definition of Southern Fried as the restaurant. My Southern Fried Chickpea Burger did not have any crispiness from being breaded and deep fried, that I was expecting. The server said there was nothing that could be done about the differing opinions. Great music which, which created a relaxing atmosphere.

Always a good experience. I'd describe the food as high end honest. Imaginative, beautifully cooked, local sustainable ingredients, decent portions. Perfect for catching up with friends, a solo breakfast with a book and several coffees (they're very good too), or if you want to impress a new someone without massively intimidating them. I love sitting near the open plan kitchen and catching delicious wafts! Super helpful lovely staff. Heartfelt recommend!

Nice atmosphere! There might be some good stuff on the menu (my friends enjoyed their potato cakes etc.), but I sadly wouldn't know. Tried the vegan breakfast which was lacklustre, as well as being a meagre portion. Just seemed thrown together along with a small sprinkling of baked beans, and no real intent to impress anyone

Delicious food, lovely drinks, wonderful service and a great atmosphere. 8 of us were all really happy with our meals and had a fantastic evening.

Was thoroughly impressed with the food and service when I went for breakfast the other day. Friendly and professional service and delicious food that was a great cost to quality ratio. Would recommend and will definitely be back when I’m next in the area.

Food can be excellent but sometimes disappointing next time round. The steak seems now not to be as good quality as it was but the pork , venison and black beef have been excellent.

A very busy cafe so we were lucky to get a table on Saturday afternoon. Waiting staff were friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. The food was delicious, highly recommend the rosemary and garlic mushrooms with poached egg on sourdough. All together a lovely experience. Can’t wait to return.

An impromptu lunch here on a busy Saturday afternoon. No table available inside so we sat outside but within minutes a waiter came and told us a table had become available inside. Service was excellent, both waiters bubbly and friendly. The food was so good we tried each other’s dishes to compare. I had the sautéed rosemary and garlic mushrooms on sourdough with poached egg. It was delicious. My daughter had the potato cake with roasted vine tomatoes and kale, equally delicious. Can’t recommend this place highly enough. We were lucky to get a table so book to avoid disappointment.

Great for an ale and the food smelt delicious - will definitely come back to try! The outdoor seating is ideal with heaters but the atmosphere inside was also spot on. Drinks are on the expensive side but expected of the area and the variety makes up for it.

Took an hour for mains to arrive. Food was alright but vibe felt very haphazard for the prices.

Quite an expensive roast dinner for what it was. Potatoes has been left out for hours and were pretty awful (ended up giving them to the dogs). Took about 30 minutes to bring drinks out as well.

What a fabulous Sunday late lunch. I had Steak & my Son had Pork Cheeks. With a full roast dinner veg & gravy. OMG. Delicious!

We visited the Malago for the first time and were not disappointed. The eggs benadict and soup and sour dough bread were very good. We will be coming again soon for another breakfast.

Found this place after a Google search 🔎. Looking for somewhere to eat that wouldn't be a run of the mill pub. We were not disappointed. Staff were very accommodating and attentive. Food was exactly what we were looking for. Bespoke and expertly cooked. Would not hesitate to recommend and would certainly visit again if we were in the Bristol area.

The Best Bloody Mary In Bristol. (& trust me I’ve looked!) Bar staff always welcoming smile and treat each dogs that walks in like a royal canine.

Sunday lunch at 3pm is a must. Most excellent food, service & atmosphere. But you can just go for a drink too. It's fabulous here.

We came for the lobster night, 5 courses for £55. Absolutely worth it everything was super delicious and amazing. Every course to die for even the stuff we didn't think we'd be into. Amazing service and full credit to the chefs that banged out a lot of service super quick and to an amazing standard. Super romantic. Definitely recommend!

Went on a Saturday at 10am with a group of 9. Was told there was no space, while we were looking straight at an unreserved empty table for 10+. We sat down on that table in the end, and they took our drinks order. We were Then told there would be a 2+h wait for food and were basically promoted to find somewhere else. I'm sure the food is great, maybe one day we'll get to try it.

We had such a wonderful roast dinner here. I’d highly recommend a visit. I had the vegan roast and WOW it was incredible. There are meat options if you’d prefer that too. Highly recommend a visit. I can’t wait to go back!

Parking in the area was a problem as most of it seemed to be permits. Got in to quite a long wait for food and I made the error of arriving very hungry which made me feel shaky before food arrived. Staff were really nice but seemed overly busy so didn't really have time to engage with our group. Could be a different vibe off peak. I think I probably ordered the wrong dish. Went for chicken salad and chips. Chips were very overdone (I'd normally send that back but had waited so long I'd gone past caring) and very small salad had tiny bits of what seemed to be bland reheated chicken. Wasn't what I'd envisioned at all at that price point. I wanted a healthier meal so burger or fry up were a big no for me. Other brunch type dishes did seem to look much better but I didn't fancy eggs and the menu was 70% egg. Had visited previously for Sunday lunch and wasn't overly impressed with that either. A very noisy crowd arrived and the roast was a bit shy of veg. For the price point I'd expected much more meat and vegetables.

I heard from multiple different people that this is the best roast in Bristol so I had to try it for myself. And it didn’t disappoint! I especially liked the small extra touches like the yummy soup and sides. The service was excellent and super friendly. Worth it!

We had a fabulous Sunday roast yesterday. I have been a celiac for 20 years and I can honestly say the braised lamb roast with yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, onion gravy and leeks in a delicious sauce was the best roast ever. Great service too on a busy Father's Day. Will be back next time we are in Bristol

This is a nice spot on North Street to grab some food - as long as you're not hungry. My partner and I visited for breakfast and I went with the largest option for £13.50 and paid £2.50(!) for one additional sausage. Something close to a child's portion arrived with: - 2 small sausages - the smallest and loneliest strip of bacon I've ever seen - 2 small poached eggs - half a tomato - a table spoon of beans - mushrooms - toast I couldn't help but feel taken for a ride - the above isn't a £16 breakfast. Advice to management is not to scrimp on portion sizes.

We had an amazing time at The Malago. Firstly, they are not just dog friendly but dog welcoming. My pup was given some treats and a bowl of water, they are just super considerate. Then there was the food, we got about 8 small plates rather than a main and shared. It was all stunning, really good portions and tasted amazing. The service was also brilliant, very friendly and attentive.

Came for Sunday lunch today with friends. Super cool place, lovely friendly staff. I can honestly that was one of the if not the best Sunday lunch I have ever had.....total taste sensation. Can't wait to come back. Thanks guys

A confusing experience. Very good food once it arrives. Lovely staff. Service poor. Long waits for food and drinks to come to table. Staff distracted and inattentive. But lovely and helpful when you do manage to speak to them. Wasn’t particularly busy. Go early and expect a leisurely wait.

Stopped here for an impromptu roast and genuinely couldn’t fault it. The place has a lovely atmosphere and appreciated the extra touches of the soup provided between courses, and the additional gravy for the roast. The staff were on point - meeting eye contact and incredibly friendly but also nailing the service all at the same time. Thank you guys!

My go to place for brunch. Good food, a pound or two more expensive than some places but it's worth it. If you need a hair of the dog, try one of their bloody Marys. The evening menu is worth a look too.

I have been here for brunch and a roast before and both were delicious and came out on time. Last night we came here for a family birthday, table booked for 7.30 however didn’t get our mains until gone 9 and many others in the restaurant in the same position. The waiting staff were apologetic that they only had one chef on and very friendly, and food was fine when it came (some dishes slightly lukewarm) but it meant those in our party who had travelled from outside of Bristol didn’t get home until much later and we were very hungry by the time it arrived. This was my first worse experience though, so will be back, and Wine Wednesdays is a great perk!

We want to love this place as it’s a local and we love the style of food. However, every time we come it’s over a 1 hour wait for food. It is expensive for the amount and quality. I had the stone bass and it was so small I was still hungry. It appeared that 5 people were working at one time (including the chefs!) I am sure this used to be amazing but I feel they’re struggling with short staff. Not bad but not great.

Very good indeed. Helpful staff and was informed straight away that they were busy and that there was a long wait for food. Decided to sit and wait as in no rush at all. My dog was offered a few treats and a bowl of water. I had Eggs Benedict and they were were spot on. Nice place to sit in the sun and watch the world go by.

Really solid and decent local restaurant. Great for evenings and lovely atmosphere and morning brunch. (Had both in 24hr hours) a little pricey but decent quality and nice solid place to have social and nice catch ups.

Wow! Once again I had an outstanding meal here at the Malago. I was celebrating my birthday with my family: my mother, son and partner. From start to finish the staff were attentive and very pleasant. The cocktails were great. The food was absolutely exceptional and perfectly cooked. We were all delighted- especially me as my son and partner paid😂. It was a memorable meal once again.

Love this place! Had dinner last night and everything was so good, such amazing flavours. The staff were lovely as well and made a great wine recommendation. We'll be back very soon

The Malago is becoming a weekly treat and we love it. Friendly atmosphere, delicious food and positive vibes. The staff are all upbeat and clearly have a good rapport. A big shout out to Kimball who is excellent in his role, a great addition to The Malago. He has a lovely demeanour and is very easy to talk to. Myself and baby Luther think he rocks!

Amazing Sunday Roast with plenty of vegan & vege options. Staff were very accommodating to our party including my dog Sheeba. One of our group had a nut allergy and were very vigilant to ensure the dish was nut free. Definitely returning for more yummy food.

Sunday roast is unreal, second time I've been when visiting Bristol on 2 separate occasions and I think now it'll be a must for me, its so good. Fresh great ingredients, great portion size, [dessert was also very good]friendly attentive staff and all for a fair price too - no arguments from me on any front. Next time I'm down I may even try something from one of the other menus they run. Took me a while to catch on to the English roast on a Sunday vibe, but I'm so glad I have now!

This is a lovely place for a meal or a catch up with friends. I had the Malago Burger with cheese and bacon, it was delicious, washed d with a pint of cider. The staff were very friendly. I enjoyed eating while reading a book. Quite a few people were meeting here too. I definitely will be visiting again.
