Great historical local pub just off the promenade with views across the Mersey estuary. Huge range of real ales to choose from. Local Brimstage Brewery’s Trapper’s Hat went down a treat alongside a bowl of scouse. What a find!

I was enjoying a pint near by when I was asked if I liked cask ales. I am from Wrexham and not familiar with the pubs in New Brighton. So while the wife played with our puppy on the beach, I popped in for a look. Perhaps if I took an interest in CAMRA, I may have made this my first choice. I had been on lagers before hearing of The Magazine. Thus, unfortunately I only have 1 pint. Lancaster Red was my chosen pint... and VERY NICE... and VERY REASONABLY PRICED (£4.40). I never noticed if dogs are allowed inside but they are welcome in the beer garden. While sat in the garden, I complained to Sam (bar staff)... "How come I hadn't discovered this pub before?" We had a brief chat and a laugh. The location is a good walk (10 / 15 minutes say) from The Floral Pavilion. On this sunny Saturday evening the bar was crowded INSIDE. Plenty of tables in the garden.

The Magazines Pub in New Brighton is one of those rare places that manages to blend local legend, history, and a proper pint all under one roof. Set just a stone’s throw from the old Liscard Battery, the pub oozes character from its classic exterior to the cozy, old-world interior that hints at its long-standing place in the community. What really sets The Magazines apart, though, is its colorful (and slightly spooky) history. Rumor has it the pub is linked to smugglers witches from centuries past, and if you’re into ghost stories, this place has plenty. On the service front, most of the staff are friendly, welcoming, down to earth. However, the restaurant service can sometimes be a bit inconsistent, slow during busy periods or a little forgetful with orders. That said, the food is absolutely worth the wait. Hearty, well-cooked pub classics with a bit of flair, and always piping hot. All in all, The Magazines is a great stop for anyone wanting a taste of New Brighton’s past with a well poured pint and a ghost story thrown in for good measure. I highly recommend the Mild on draft and the fish and chips!

We decided to try The Magazine Hotel for a meal when we visited New Brighton, I googled places to eat that are dog friendly in the area, we are so glad that we chose to eat here, what a lovely place, as soon as we walked in we felt welcomed, the staff were really friendly and even the customers were lovely and chatty, the area we could take our dog was great and he soon settled down (he is a black lab so we need space for him) he settled under the table straight away and the waitress brought him some water and some treats. There was a great choice of drinks, I chose the Hoof which was very nice, my husband and daughter had a Guinness. The menu had a lot of choice and we decided on a rib eye steak for my husband (he upgraded to surf and turf), and me and my daughter shared 3 small plates and a small thai fishcakes and chips choice off the smaller plates menu. The food was really lovely and we all thoroughly enjoyed it, it was well presented lovely and hot and really tasty, the homemade tomato salsa was delicious and so was the coleslaw. All in all a great visit and we cannot wait to return, thank you.

Always a great pub, staff are friendly beer is good, great selection. The only problem is that year after year, the gents toilet stinks. I'm sorry but with so much going for you please clean and keep the toilets clean. How hard can it be. I see great food coming out, but with the hygiene level being so bad, I won't risk it.. do the chefs use the same toilet? Probably, please sort it out, and then you will have a really great pub. Sorry, I love the place, but you need to get your finger out.

Historic pub 🥗🍲🍺🥃🍷 on the banks of the River Mersey in New Brighton. The pub is not in the town centre but is situated about a 10 minute walk away up along the river...& about 2 minutes from Vale Park 🎄🐿️🏞️. It has a lively & friendly atmosphere, & there's a great selection of beers 🍻, ales 🍺 & milk stouts, many of which are from local breweries (which is always a good thing). And good food is served all day from the house menu 🥗🍟🍛🍜 . There's a pub carpark but it's small, fortunately when it's full there's adequate street parking 🚙 available all the way along to Vale Park 🏞️

We arrived, four of us, as arranged and were show to a lounge called The Dog House at The Magazine. After taking our reserved table we were made to wait for around twenty minutes before a waiter arrived to tell us that a certain number of items on the menu were no longer available. We order a few starters and four main courses. The mains included three Ribeye Steaks and one Lasagna. Drinks were bought separately (but included on our Tab). After a little while the waiter returned to say that only two ribeye steak meals and the lasagna were available and that we must order a replacement main course from the menu. We decided that a Turkish meal would serve to replace the third steak meal. After some considerable time the food was delivered to our table. The Turkish meal was called “Korean Firecracker Chicken” this was some sort of tiny portion of burnt strips of chicken on what appeared to be dry sliced buns, sauce was supposed to have been included but hadn’t appeared on the plate. Complaining to the waiter we were told that the tiny pieces of chicken burned very quickly due to their size. The offending meal was returned uneaten and the cost of it was removed from our bill. Although the steak meals were acceptable, the overall standard of the food and of the service left a very great deal to be desired. After complaining again about our experience, we joined by a very angry manager who, in a raised voice, bellowed that he believed there was nothing wrong with the food or with the service. Before we had any chance to explain our complaint clearly the bellowing manager had walked away from the room. All in all, to describe our visit the The Magazine Hotel was that it was both costly, embarrassing and insulting.

Good prices, top quality beer, a lovely garden with a view of the water, and very friendly staff. It was busy at lunch time with a good mix of visitors and regulars, families and couples and LGBTQ friendly as well. We sat outside (for which you'd need to be able to do steps and slopes, but there's an accessible toilet off the main bar) but there was a separate dining room which looked nice, and a room off the bar in which they do live music and folk nights. This is just the sort of pub I wish I had within walking distance of my house. Only area for improvement was a few more veggie dishes on the menu, but the food did look amazing.

Worked at camel laird for 3 days . Stayed in an Airbnb nearby . Cracking pub , great bar staff & regulars like stuey , Al & Griff . Was made to feel really welcome. Will definitely return if ever working at the yard again !

Had a great meal here recently. The service was spot on, with table service for drinks and food. There were 7 of us and we all had our food within minutes of one another. The food itself was what you want, though don’t often get these days. I had a pie that was brim full and really tasty. The range of drinks available and quality excellent, only wish this place was a little closer to home. Highly recommended.

Just want to say a massive thank you!! From managers, Sue, seb & Nathan & cool schlatt loving barman Jack.. had my daughters 18th at Rockpoint then on to the function room above the James Atherton. Really laid back feel & great atmosphere allowing friend & family to have a great time. Own entrance to club & with Leo & Simon on security everyone felt safe so no gatecrashers. Had to arrange it at very short notice & nothing was too much trouble, allowing us to make a party really personal for my girl. You were all fantastic… ❤️ Oh & the woodfired Pizza’s are to kill for!
