The Madebrook Carvery in Telford and Wrekin

Carvery is poor. Roast potatoes are small and anemic looking, potentially reheated from previous day? No parsnips, the meat was dry and they ration tiny stuffing balls to one per person like they're made of gold.

First time here 2/2/2025 Excellent carvery very professional staff and a very welcoming atmosphere we will definitely be visiting again 😊

It's a really popular place for Sunday dinner, it is best book as it tends to get busy. The carvery is really nice and the choice of two out of three meats is really nice. Food quality is excellent, and service is really good . Pudding included are gluten-free

Absolutely diabolical, worst meal ever had in my life. Wouldn’t even give my cat a peice of meat from there

The meat was horrible and dry, wouldn’t bother stopping here and spend the few extra quid to go somewhere else , would hardly feed the food to my dog, staff were friendly enough though

Went for a carvery today and took my sen son for a meal who is autistic he couldn’t eat his dinner as he felt it was too busy for him to cope with I asked the manager if I could take it home in a pot he was very rude and said he not bothered if I come bak there again to eat and was gave a paper pot in the end the was no need to be so rude only asked for a pot as my son not touched his dinner bad management would never eat there again and if you have sen kids I wouldn’t waste your money there terrible attitude for a manager.

Just visited this place for my lunch with another two family members. Has we walked in it was quiet and it wasn't very warm but we decided to stay. We chose to all have the carvery. Well it wasn't nice , the staff member couldn't smile and didn't seem to want to be there,she place the meat option on to a cold plate then we move on to place the rest of our chosen meal on our plate, I had a feeling from doing this it wasn't going to be warm but went and sat back down . Well I was right it was very cold and when the male worker approached me to remove my plate once we had finished eating I told him I wasn't happy with our meals due to them being cold, he just pick our plates up said he would tell the kitchen staff, didn't even apologise or anything then walked off . I will not be returning again and will let other people know my experience and warn them not to go either.

I usually have a fantastic experience here, but I recently encountered a bit of an issue. While enjoying my carvery, I bit into a potato and discovered a small piece of wire. I went to the staff to let them know, and they assured me it would be taken care of, but there was no offer to replace my plate. I just couldn't bring myself to enjoy the meal after finding something like that in it. Unfortunately, this has made me hesitant to return because I can't help but wonder what else might be overlooked. I'm just grateful it was me and not a child who found it!

Only popped in for coffee while in the area but they were happy to accommodate me. Pleasant staff and good service; although I didn't eat here, having already had lunch, the food looked very good and I'll definitely come back when next in the area.

My friend and I ate here the other day, and we were really pleased. The atmosphere is lovely, the staff is nice and the foood is very tasty. We had a good time, and you surely may too!

Had carvery today we arrived at 1pm food was cold asked lady behind counter to put it in microwave ,which she did begrudgingly. The place was freezing sat with our coats on . There only seemed to be 2 staff 1 on bar 1 waiting on besides chef ect so was waiting long time for hotdrinks. Overall very disappointed

Always a great carvery and the fussy little ones devoured their burgers. Clean plates all round. Pudding was delicious too. Staff are lovely.

Very busy when we arrived, glad we booked. Food fine, wish they would make the yorkies and hone made roasties.

Tried the carvery which was excellent. Our car club has now relocated here on a monthly basis - plus we are arranging to have a Christmas meal there too

Directed to the Madebrook Carvery by chance for lunch by another pub undergoing kitchen renovation. My wife just wanted chicken and chips and helpful member of staff suggested the Hunters BBQ Chicken without the BBQ sauce. Nice grilled chicken breast with chunky chips. Our guest had lasagne which looked pretty good and I opted for the Carvery which in my opinion was really good value with nice pieces of meat and as much veg as you wanted. Would go again if in the area visiting.

Decent carveries for the price but nothing changes for specials on sunday etc all still very much the same unfortunately which is a shame

Me and my family have had many a carvery at the Madebrook Carvery and enjoyed them very much, but todays carvery i am afraid was absolutely awful. It appears the original chef has now gone and someone new has taken over. 1. The gravy which is normally gorgeous was absolutely watery and tasteless. 2. The cauliflower cheese had no taste of cheese at all. 3. The roast potatoes had no taste of roast at all. 4. And the stuffing balls were dry. 5. Although we booked for four people we only had three sets of cutlery and had to go hunting for a forth ourselves It is a shame because normally the meals are very nice and good value. I am afraid if this quality continues which i hope it does not, i am sure customers will stop attending. I will go back again as i hope this was just a blip, if it does not improve we are one set of customers they will lose.

Disappointed we go here every Wednesday for a carvery ant past 2 times we.ve been the carvery was.nt very nice roasties were hard also took our granddaughter last nite had a children's meal she got 2 chicken courjoun and a hand full of chips which cost £6.95 which is disgusting she was still hungry when got home

Had a super Sunday carvery here and was only 9.99 our only complaint was the food could have been a bit warmer.

As usual lovely carvery bit disappointed this time as frozen roasters 😞 not my cup of tea but rest tasted lovely 😊

Came for Sunday dinner for my daughter birthday and it was disgusting kid burger roll was molded and hard they can't eat it will not be coming back 😢

Little bit gutted to be honest. Ordered for the first time on Justeat. Food arrived relatively quick but the curry definitely wasn’t a Chicken Tikka and they gave me the wrong Naan. Tasted more like a butter chicken? I don’t know… The food that did arrive wasn’t great and the chicken was super gristly. Tried to contact restaurant but after 10 calls gave up lol Not an amazing overall experience - would have been nice to try the right food. Probably won’t be ordering again unfortunately. 👎🏼

There was a large group of us 18 adults and 2 small children. Service was great food was very nice in fact better than we had anticipated. I'd recommend the madebrook above any overcrowded place in Southwater where getting the customer out ready for the next is more important. And I'm so glad the cuckoo oak wouldn't take our large booking as the food and service here is so much better.

Tuesday 11th June 2024. Travelling from Bridgnorth, we arranged a meet here for a carvery meal. Phoned at 6.30pm to book a table. Spoke to a lovely gentleman who advised they stop serving food at 7.45pm. It was quiet when we arrived. Just how we like it. The place felt warm & welcoming. We were able to choose our own table, which was good. As they stopped serving food at 7.45pm, we weren't expecting a variety of freshly cooked food available. More, what was left. There was still a fairly good selection available... and the yorkshire puddings came out fresh from the kitchen. My only slight "pick" was the vegeables weren't covered whilst not in use. All the lids were piled up on the worktop. I dislike leaving food open. The staff that served us: gentleman behind the bar, carver and waiter who was still learning, were all very helpful and polite. Nice place, nice staff, nice food (the best gravy!), good parking, good atmosphere, good prices.

Lovely food nice friendly staff was a lovely family meal. Definitely will be back

Nice meat and roast taters but the veg was all swimming in water, even the cauliflower cheese. Lovely gravy. All gassy keg drinks, some real ale would have been nice but this is typical of this sort of place. Summary, nothing special about the Madebrook, 6 years since I was here likely more than 6 before I come again.

Bullet peas and sweetcorn.. all drowning in water Not nice .The only good thing was the meat and possibly the roast spuds. Cold thick lumpy gravy Toss up on which is worst. . this place or The Toby . Will definitely Not be doing a revisit

It's a very standard pub, nothing wrong with it but nothing great about it. It's not worth a second trip for me as its not very local but if its local to you and you just want an easy dinner go for it.

Went today there was a lot of us food was amazing staff was amazing there was 4 adults and 8 kids the staff made us feel at home thank you will be coming back again

Lovely local Carvery with a great selection of food, Carvery, Pub Menu and delicious Indian menu in the evenings. Well worth a visit.

Had a lovely family meal here today. Good variety of menu items. We had two carvery’s, two adult meals and one kids meal. Food was great and service great also.

Always a good option to the chain carveries. A choice of pie or three or four different meats plus all the veg you can pile onto your plate for under a fiver. Vegetarian option is always declared "excellent" by my dining partner - a type of spicy, beany, nut roast with an optional slice of goat's cheese on top. Pile on your veg, cover with veggie gravy and you're good to go. UPDATE 22.02.24 Meat selection down to three today, but pie looks as wonderful as ever and the vegetables are cooked just right, a bit of crunch left in them. The gravy is always thick, hot and meaty, although there was only one pot there today, so I'm not sure if there is a vegetarian gravy option anymore. My only small issue is the time it takes to get a ticket. As these are issued from the bar, one has to wait until all the drink orders have been completed before being able to pay. There is only one till, so if you are unlucky enough to get behind a group or a person buying loads of Guinness or cocktails, you'll have a wait. However, I suppose in context, that this is a minor issue, maybe a chance to anticipate the meal ahead. It's not a staff problem - staff have always been polite and obliging, they're just a bit resource-limited. Regardless, this is a fine place to dine and I recommend it most heartily.

I am very disappointed that they would not let me take half my food home, I recently had a small stomach operation and I'm not able to eat my dinner all at 1 time so I asked staff for take away box to eat couple hours later even tho they choose the size of the plate and the whole point of carvery is you pay for whatever you fit on your plate, now I never put much on my plate as I'm very conscious of food waste and that I'm aware I can't eat much at the moment but they would rather throw half my dinner in the bin than help me out, up until now it was my favourite place that I have recommended to alot of people in the past. The picture shows what they would be putting in the bin, such a shame and such a waste.

Disgusting filthy place with extremely poor quality food and even worse attitude from the owners. Reported to the correct council departments and hopefully they send an inspector of some sort….

Food tasted great. The only place I know that you can’t take your left overs home!!! Even though you have paid for jt. Not seconds. The plate of food you ordered and paid for. Disgusting would never go there again. First time in my life this has happened. Customer service is awful by the owner I imagine. Feel sorry for staff having to enforce his strange rules. Needs new management.

we went for Christmas Day lunch and amazing

Absolutely disgusting. Our party was booked months ago for 7.30pm and day before they asked us to change it to 7pm. Had to send my well done steak back as still had blood inside!!! Daughter's balti had hard veg in it, she couldn't get fork through potatoes or cauliflower. Then when we had finished our meal we were told we couldn't order puds as kitchen was closed at 8pm. Less than an hour after ordering our meal and half hour after delivery of our meal. In reply to your reply.. You let me friend book a large party for 7.30pm knowing your kitchen closed 15 minutes after we were to arrive weeks before the date, only to ask us the day before to change it 7pm. Leaving us now chance of finding another venue for a large party at short notice plus some of us had to travel after daily obligations so 7pm was impossible for some of us. So it wasn't just the badly cooked food and having to miss out on a desert that spoilt our night.

We had a family get together for 15 people. 1st class service. Some had carvery and some had burgers. I had a lamb buhna egg fried rice and cheese nann. Delicious. This venue is definitely worth a visit.

**update While I still love their food here, I have been a bit disappointed on the last couple of visits, the manager I find quite rude, twice they have got our booking wrong and it has been made to be our fault, with no apology. When he is trying to find you a table it makes it feel like you are an inconvenience other than that the food is still lovely Absolutely beautiful food, first time visiting here today and the carvery was beautiful plenty of choices for veg and the lasagne my mum had she said was tasty as well. Will definitely be back

Not very good today 😕 carvery was cold fish and chips weren't the best either to complain and say we haven't had any other complaints stood at the bar while owner was sat there didn't even notice us place was empty only us in there even the chef and to bring food out not very good avoid!!

Came here with the partner and my sister and nephew. We decided to have a carvery. The food was okay. After we had finished, I went up for seconds and went up to grab more for my sister. This lady came over and told us we wasn't allowed to have seconds as its not an all you can eat carvery. We were not made aware of this on arrival when greeted and there was no signs anywhere to state otherwise. This lady kept going on and on and on about not having any more. Once is understanding, but to continue with it. And to keep an eye on us, watching us is just another level. Made us feel ever so uncomfortable.

Excellent Sunday carvery. Home made pie is my favourite but have to get there Early for a slice of it. Sunday make sure you book.

The staff were helpful and pleasant. I needed to ask for a table to be cleaned. Food was good, but I was a bit disappointed that they charged for a small bowl to put little bits of finger food in for a baby

Went on a Thursady for something from the Indian menu rather than the carvery. Food was lovely and served quickly. Would go again but you have to remember to go early as they shut at 8pm.

Very much a venue for the more senior members of the area. The carvery, which l have is always good quality. Although the price has gone up over the last few years it is still value for money!

After reading good reviews thought I'd give it a try . Put it this way don't trust everything you read .I'm thinking the people leaving good reviews either lost their sense of taste after covid or would eat a flip flop if had some gravy on it ! I got given the very pointy end of the beef which I usually save for my dogs at home not serve up , this was sinewy and think a chainsaw blade wouldn't have cut through it , my partners piece looked like rab c nesbits vest the fat was holding it together .The vegetables needed life bouys they were drowning in water and were tasteless ,the peas could have been used as rifle pellets ,mash was sloppy watery and bland , I thought the smash robots would come out singing .Safe to say I won't be going again I might as well have eaten my money- probably would have tasted better . On a plus note staff were friendly but sadly that doesn't leave satisfied appetites .

The food is always hot, the roast potatoes have a crisp to them that Gordon Ramsay would be proud of, and the staff are usually very sweet and friendly.

Beef was nothing but fat and the turkey had green chunks in it. Staff didn't seem to care one bit. Very disappointed.

When we first arrived, we felt uncomfortable because many people were staring at us, which created an odd vibe. Unfortunately, we found the food to be bland and unsatisfying. The carvery lacked any distinct flavors in particular. As a result, we decided to order food elsewhere after leaving.

Situated in the middle of a quiet suburb, the Madebrook seems to be the choice of many locals. There's a usefully large car park; the pub is a big prewar building with flatroof extension. There was a strong whiff of curry outside, and the large sign was faded, but we overcame any reservations and found it was lovely inside. We paid at the bar a bargain price for a carvery each, and got our meat and veg from the servery. I actually had a (homemade?) slice of pie instead of meat. Everything was cooked as it should be and all the veg was tasty. Recommended. Prices and drinks were at normal carvery levels, but the main meal was surprisingly cheap.

Arrived on a Saturday evening and it was so quiet. Food was good but no atmosphere or real welcome.

Fab food, really good. We had tandoori mixed grill, it was spot-,on. Really friendly staff. clean, open, bright pub.

The best Indian food ever for us ..my partner never used to enjoy Indian restaurant food but loves visiting the Madebrook for the Indian special choices and a great chef A+++

Interesting meal. Along with my sirloin steak and chunky chips I had some veg. Oh, I was mightily disappointed. Who on earth provides half a large mushroom and half a medium sized tomato? Guess what, this restaurant does ! The other half of the mushroom and tomato was on my neice`s plate. I have heard of the economic crisis, but this is an absolute joke ! Guess what ! I am voting with my feet and will not return to your establishment.

Enjoyed a family meal. Staff were lovely, food was very good.

Always rate this place. Recommend it to everyone. Never have a bad meal. BUT was disappointed when I took my kids for tea. My youngest has a eating disorder (hes 13). There was 5 of us eating. I asked if it was possible he could have a kids size plate due to his disorder. (Only £1 difference). I was told that they weren't able to do that as a child is classed as 12yrs or younger. I explained about his illness but was told they weren't allowed to do it. He literally only had 1 slice of meat and a handful of veg. I was very disappointed in this.

Thank you for another lovely meal at the Madebrook, we normally go for the lovely carvery but this time we all had steaks for Mum’s birthday and the team went over and beyond expectations to make sure a good time was had by all. Food was cooked to perfection and delicious. Service second to none. best in the area! Would recommend.
