called on for lunch at about 12.30 and found it empty. And no I can't work out why; the server was very friendly and helpful, the coffee good and the food great. It deserves to be packed.

I popped in for lunch today im one of the most fussy eaters I know and it was absolutely amazing. Service was quick, polite and professional. The food was of a high standard, presented well and 100% worth the price asked. I had a chocolate milkshake and it was delicious didn't taste at all like the cheap milkshakes some cafes sell. My panini was hot but not scolding which was a pleasant surprise and I could eat my lunch without the awkward waiting period for my food to cool. The home made crisps served alongside my panini were sensational I've never had anything like it before. Even though my lunch was completely satisfying I couldn't leave without trying one of the beautiful cakes. I had strawberry cheese cake, and personally I love strawberries however anything artificial strawberry tasting I can't stomach. Well, this strawberry cheesecake is the only strawberry cheesecake I've ever enjoyed and loved the taste of. The cream cheese being strawberry flavour with chopped up strawberries in it, I've never had such good quality desert anywhere in cleethorpes. The deserts are definitely worth the money and portions are of perfect size. The decor is quirky and perfectly fitting to the name "Mad Hatters Tea Room". The Tea Room still has a professional touch in which you look for when visting somewhere to eat. Everything was pristine condition and not a single piece of dust anywhere. Also I find being a "Goth" myself I generally get negative reactions from staff in cafes etc. But in this case I felt 100% welcomed which was a great experience for me and my partner. Bottom line this tea room is a unique place and very welcoming with high quality food and service. I would 100% recommend you eat here. It's an experience you will not find anywhere else and I will 100% be visting again to try more of the menu.

Went to a baby shower here, I was not impressed. We ended up paying more for the afternoon tea due to hiring it out for the baby shower. We were told everything was freshly made but it obviously wasn’t the case. There was a lot of us and we hardly got anything between us, the sandwiches were stale and we didn’t get a choice of fillings, the pots of tea had to be shared with 3 or 4 people, we got 1 bitesize sausage roll each and a bowl of salad and a bowl of crisps again to share with 3 or 4 people. The slices of cakes we had the choice from was literally what was leftover from the day. One of us had an allergy to black currant and when asked if the slice of cake contained it the staff replied that they didn’t know as it came in this morning! Guess everything isn’t homemade then, they told the diner to just try the cake and see! I thought that was disgusting! Never will I recommend this place!!!

I went here with a friend the place look lovely it was really nice and clean but I'm afraid my afternoon tea was a disappointment. The bread was average for the sandwiches but with nice filling. There was a supper market bought small sausage roll on it , not even warm and I couldn't eat it it wasn't very nice a pot of coleslaw and a trail of lettuce leaves. I was disappointed as I thought they might have been Crisps and a bit of pork pie or even warm quiche. The scones was large with lovely cream they were nice and we had a piece of cheesecake which was ok . Not the best I've been two .

I live just around the corner from this tea and watched it being decorated and opening. The Alice in Wonderland decor looks good and I finally got around to trying it. I was expecting great things of it, but a few things let it down. On the plus side, it has vegan options on the lunch menu, so first thought was, must come back and give it a try on a lunchtime. It also does non-daiiry milk shakes, very rare in a tea room, but unfortunately, the rest of the experience was a little disappointing to say the least. We called in around 3pm on a Saturday afternoon, I ordered a cherry scone and my companion ordered a toasted tea cake. The scone looked good and have a nice flavour, but was so burnt on the bottom that I had to cut the bottom off to make it edible. The toasted teacake was also burnt, to the degree that some of it was inedible. The worst part though, was the staff who had a generally can't be bothered attitude and gave the impression that they wanted to the tea room empty. As soon as the occupants of the one other occupied table had left, they started moving furniture about and sweeping. Not sure what time they close, it could have been the end of the day, but even so, they could give people time to finish eating.

Ramandalicious decided to go for afternoon tea at The Mad Hatter's Tea room in Grimsby. It's a lovely little, charming & obviously Alice in Wonderland themed tea room. We had the Mad Hatter's Afternoon Tea for 2. It's quite large and comes with hot toasties too, we chose the Brie, bacon & caramelized onion chutney toastie and roast ham and mustard cold sandwich. We had quiche, scotch egg, pork pie, sausage roll, some lovely chutney, fresh salad, coleslaw, crisps, a teapot of lovely tea and to finish a slab of fudge cake for myself and toffee cake for Amanda. It was a lovely experience and the staff were very polite, friendly and we were served with a smile. In the end, we quite enjoyed our visit. The Mad Hatter's is very reasonably priced, genuine food and a funny & welcoming environment. If you're in Grimsby, give it a go, you will not be disappointed. ❤#Ramandalicious #RamandaLifeTravel

I popped in to The Mad Hatters Tea Room today with my mother in law and 3 year old daughter. The ladies were lovely and so accommodating. The food was lovely, we only had sandwiches and a couple of pots of tea but it was very tasty. We will definitely be visiting again and telling our friends and family. My daughter loved the little simple touches for example the little masks and bow ties on sticks that she could pose for a picture with. She also liked the baby hot chocolate! Great value for money and excellent service. Thank you Mad Hatters!

My first visit too this lovely tea room, it’s nicely decorated the placemats on the table are giant cards which is awesome, the tea room is clean and the staff are warm and friendly, great customer service skills my tea consisted of a sandwich they do a choice, I had ham and mustard on lovely fresh white bread, salad coleslaw was on the tray too, you can chose your scone and it was simply amazing I had almond and cherry, I highly recommend this with fresh cream and a pot of jam, a homemade mini gorgeous sausage roll and then you get your yummy cake they have a choice of different ones I chose strawberry cheesecake, the young lady that served us even gave us more tea which came in a china tea pot quite big, and you get real tea cups. Lovely place plenty of choice the staff are great, will definitely visit again. My tea, lunch cos £9.95. Oh and if your too full they will box your cake for you. They also do a ploughman’s lunch to take away I think that was just under £6.

This place has changed over the years, after last year (2023) I wasn't sure if I wanted to come back, but I'm glad it did. Myself and mostly Gluten Free family had lovely carvery. - Good Cleanliness - Decent Atmosphere - Nice Setup - Meat was cooked to perfection. 🤌🏻 There's were however a things that wasn't particularly great... - I was the only person in the line for a carvery and I watched 12 minutes go by. - The roast potatos were VERY crispy. - No more refillable drinks! I got very annoyed standing there, I have a blue badge due to my disability and my lordosis wasn't doing great but I managed. I know people that wouldn't be able to manage that kind of wait which could take away their independence. Admittedly I only had one roast potato, I like to think I pick the ones that look the best and look fluffy. But the texture and taste wasn't great. Could have been a bad pick, bad batch or just a bad day. I have really enjoyed them in the past. For a refillable drink it only cost 15p more than a regular pint of pop. 😬 So I was shocked to find that there is no more refillable.

Chicken and pepperoni pizza was a generous size and had plenty of chips too. Staff friendly, don't remember asked if our meals were OK though. Good overall though.

Sourdough with starter was like a rock, tried to cut, all over the table. Main course fish was average. Main course was lukewarm, cous cous was cold and clumpy, flat bread was like cardboard, salad was fine! Expensive, didn’t complain but would never return or recommend
