Having lived in Westbury Wiltshire some 25 years I decided to visit the ‘Mad Hatters cafe. On entering I asked the serving lady if she served Filter coffee as I do not like instant coffee,. She replied yes we do serve filter coffee and I duly ordered a cup. On receipt the coffee served was obviously instant and when questioned on this, she pointed to a cafetere, which she believed constituted filter coffee?? she apologised with no further explanation on why she lied to gain my custom.

Food came out ay different times... scambled eggs were overcooked dry and tasteless.. omelette dripping in fat. Coffee hardly drinkable. Then overcharged by 20%.

This is a find when you need an excellent breakfast. I keep meaning to try other things but can never get past breakfast!! Thick cut bacon, a good sausage and a golden egg. Everything is cooked fresh and the granary toast and tea is good too.

I really enjoy my almost weekly this cafe - I am close to calling myself a regular. Been eating there on and off for about a year - I return for the food. The food portions are massive and exceptionally yummy, not fancy just plain simple food which feels home cooked. Full English is my normal order, I highly recommend. I often can't finish my plate! It is a real asset to the town, a typical classic normal no chain cafe! The staff are always friendly and have a laugh and a joke! As with most things, it’s your own personal tastes, me a common working man, this place fills my tummy and makes me smile all while being very reasonable and better value for money than other places in the area. I always make it a point to take my friends or family who visit me for the food. A thumbs up for me!

The owner is the "cook". The place is scruffy, just like the owner, who claims to cook everything himself. He didn't look at all clean, and a chef/cook needs to look very clean in my opinion. The whole place needs to "up its game". Having said that, there are usually quite a few people in there - regulars I suspect. I would not go there again. The food was less than average and the price was not commensurate with the quality on offer - very pricey for what it is..

The food is great, no problem there. It's really great to have simple, well-cooked food - the chips are to die for. Would you believe it, they cut up potatoes and deep fry them! No reconstituted mush, no semolina coating and none of those dreadful, tasteless oven chips. But the place is so bleak - just give it a coat of warm coloured paint and put a few decorative touches in, and the ambience would improve one hundred fold. Plus, it was so cold when we last visited that we won't be going back until the temperature goes up. Put the heating on when it's freezing outside!

Visited several times to mad hatters for breakfast and each time I am pleased by the size of plate and quality if food. The service is friendly and quick even if it gets busy with locals. The cake there is varied and fantastic tasting, served with a big mug of tea or coffee.

I have been to the Mad Hatters loads of times and it never disappoints. Everything is made by Conrad, the owner, and his cake is to die for. The food is delicious and is reasonably priced. I can heartily recommend that you drop in if you ever find yourself in the area. You will always be met with a cheery welcome.

Had almost two hours to kill at Westbury station, so wandered up here (about 15 mins' walk) and had a really enjoyable lunch. Great quality, good value food (I had the homemade vegetable lasagne) and you can tell from the fact they know the names of the regulars that it's a popular place with the locals. Turned an annoying wait for a train into a rather enjoyable one.

Really nice homecooked food in this friendly little cafe in Westbury. It's licensed, so you can enjoy a glass of wine, and the chef does proper chips|, so he's my kind of guy. How lovely to eat sausage, egg and chips, real comfort food. But the menu is more extensive than this - they do tasty curries and sell some gorgeous looking cakes as well. Lovely, friendly staff as well.

Went there for lunch with family whilst visiting town for Brothers 50th birthday party weekend.Service (Julia, owner, and waitress) came with lots of humour and then food cooked (Conrad, owner) to order was excellent. Doorstep sarnies very good and the fishcakes and real chicken burger were said to be as good.See this http://www.whitehorsenews.co.uk/blog/2010/09/02/issue-469-new-tea-rooms-open-in-edward-street/

Having ate here before and had a good time I thought it would be good for a birthday meal for 4 on a Monday lunch time how disappointing it was. 2 Steak & Stiton pies ordered although very tasty lacked Stiton and was meant to be served with veg we had to ask for the veg which when it arrived after several minutes the excuse was we only have 2 microwaves not the excuse I wanted, the other 2 meals were fine, unfortunately we will not go back.

We visited on a Sunday for breakfast. Arriving a couple of minutes after 10am (opening time), we queued for a table and then again to order food. There were plenty of tables but appreciated it was busy - not all tables were full. We waited for 50 minutes for our food to arrive, although coffee arrived much earlier. This was prompted by us asking where our food was/checking the order had been made, to which we were told ‘we’d just have to wait because it was busy’. The food arrived 5 minutes later. The food was tasty and we’ve no complaints about the quality or price. But, something about the system here just doesn’t make sense, queuing at every point and then waiting another 50 minutes for scrambled eggs on toast and a bacon sandwich, doesn’t make sense. We arrived at 10 and didn’t leave until 12:15…. People had started arriving for lunch! Sadly, we’d not return. There are just other places nearby that are doing it better.

We booked a table for the opening party, the pub opened earlier in the week with new staff and owners.

The location of this establishment is strange because the shop/restaurant sits within what is essentially a business park in the middle of nowhere but it is not hard to find. The setting was ideal for a summer lunch with lots of variously covered areas to shelter from the sun or rain if it happens. Then you realise that all these covered areas are, in fact, the restaurant! I saw no evidence of indoor seating. The main seating area is fundamentally a plastic marquee attached to a shop unit and all the seats are picnic benches. They have an interesting menu, which changes regularly I understand, and it is obvious that this establishment is not trying be a full all ‘singing and dancing’ restaurant and they do make that clear. It uses locally sourced quality produce for Deli style light meals, specifically lunches, and also snacks. The people running it are personable, welcoming and efficient. We found them very helpful and attentive and the food was delicious. Overall, the food menu is a little overpriced I feel but not excessive. That said, a few dishes do seem “over the top’ for what they are. It is the shop where the prices are eyewatering expensive and I think they have gone too far. I can here them now saying that they are supporting local suppliers and that this comes at a cost but times are hard and I do truly believe they, or their suppliers, need to face reality as the pricing is far too high. We need to support businesses like this but they have to respond too! Did I enjoy my meal? Yes, fantastic, Would I go again? Yes, definitely! Would I encourage you to go? Yes definitely! I just warn you that your visit will be enjoyable but not cheap so be prepared.

Great evening! It did not disappoint! The black rock fillet steaks were amazing. The young waitresses were both lovely, always smiling & nothing was too much trouble for them. The pub has a lovely atmosphere and we all enjoyed the evening. We would highly recommend a visit here!
