A pub with a good selection of beers and an interesting menu.

2 medium wines £13.10....😫 And there all moaning why nobody goes out anymore,and pubs are shutting down. No justification to charge that price for 2 box standard average wine. Lychgate ya need yo review your wine prices.

Decent pub with plenty of (cheap) beers. 3 pints only £8.70!!! TVs can be a bit loud when trying to hold a conversation. Outdoor seating available.

Food was ordered, then 15 mins later curry wasn't available anymore, We had fish chips n peas , fish was soggy. Scampi was under cooked , no tartar sauce!! Food came before cutlery. Staff looked like they had just woke up.also wanted fish fingers and chips for my 2 year old, apparently they didn't do it but sold fish finger buttys and also chips very confused as to why they couldn't do fish fingers with chips very odd ..avoid!!

Reasonable beer prices and on day no food was served but they give us a free sandwich with the beer.

The guy behind the bar was incredibly rude. He genuinely shouldn't be working in any customer facing role.

Holt's dark ales are unmatched for balance and taste. The buttermilk chicken burger was a tasty plate of food, and at £3 a pint or a half-litre bottle, washed down with a choice of delicious dark ales. Good, busy, attentive, efficient staff too. I'll be back.

Bar staff are so rude, just tried helping them and they came out with a comment saying “we’ll that doesn’t help” with a moody face. Never again

OK, clean and tidy and really nice interior but lacks atmosphere

Beautiful pub, immaculate. Inside and out doors lovely beer garden. A patron helped me by putting the mobility ramp out so I could gain access in my wheelchair. Fantastic food, and I'm fussy. Had fish and chips, was Fish Friday. More like the size of a whale nit a fish. Big thick piece of fish, nice thin layer of batter and delicious chips and condiments. Lovely staff, Landlord a lovely Gentleman. Dogs allowed. Can't wait to go back and try the other meals on their menu. Lovely pint too. Great Children's Menu.

Reasonable prices with good beers.

Small menu, but it is a drinkers pub. Went specifically for the cheese and onion pie. Served with chips and beans. Its superb. One downside? MR Selfish stood on his phone in middle of bar all night so barmaid had difficulty serving people.

The food i had was good but disappointed everything had fried food with it. No healthier options.

1st time we've been here, won't be the last. Food was lovely and all five different meals came out hot and all together. Nothing left on the plates. Nice clean pub/restuarant, toilets nice and clean. Prices were very reasonable. Will take photos when we next visit. Thank you.

Well this is the second time I have been with the family and will Be the last. First time loads of lads and girls drunk badly,swearing shocking and taking drugs in the toilets. One of the mens toilets had 3 lads in the same toilet sniffing up. Second time again this weekend absolutely disgusting drugs and not even discreet. Why is this going on and why are people not told to calm the searing down. It is lowering Standish community. Absolute drop Outs in there. The manager knows also had lots of complaints been told but aslong as they buying his ale why does it matter. Don’t go here anyone and spoke to several people said it’s getting worse this place

Tasty lasagne & hubbie had the curry which was nice too. Pleasant staff.

Lovely meal and very reasonably priced.

Barman IDed me despite having served me and having IDed me just a week prior. I didn't have my ID on me at the time, thinking I wouldn't need it as I was with my parents and had been IDed previously. Drinks are very pricey and in the end I couldn't join in in having a celebratory drink for my Father's birthday. Card machine also did not work

Markets itself as a specialist real ale pub, but it isn't really. Just Holts bitter and sometimes Two Hoots. Nice location by the church, but much more modern inside than you may expect. Good for watching sport and possibly for pub food too.

Lovely Christmas day lunch. Great food and friendly staff. Thanks for looking after us especially as we were a big party and had two children with us. Only one thing could we have pigs in blankets next year please?

Very busy at the time. "Lads'" pub. Sports on many TV screens.

Only bitter was available on hand pump. Holts have a good range of beers and the two hoots is my preferred. Seems odd they only had one beer on. A very noisy pub for a midweek night. There was football on tv and some were watching it. The rest of the pub was full which is great for the pub but no good of you're out for a quiet pint and a chat with a friend. In the end we left early because of the noise. If could have been unusually busy because it was the week before Christmas. I'll try again in the New Year to see if it's calmed down a bit.

Excellent Xmas lunch served by friendly staff. Great value and so well looked after.

Pleasently surprised with this place and they take care of my friend who is knocking on a bit haha. I like the decor and ambience. Food is reasonably priced.

We go every Friday for there fish and chip meal deal. Our treat after a hard weeks work.

We called in on Sunday to watch the football and ended up staying for tea since there was food menus on the tables. Was impressed with steak pie and thought it was a reasonable price the staff were friendly and helpful too

This has to be the worst place I’ve ever ate. I asked for salt and pepper chips they where just chips with a few peppers on other food was definitely out the freezer. Witnessed people dealing drugs while we where sat outside with our children absolutely appalling. Lots of underage drinkers took my kids to the toilet and there was women doing drugs in the toilet. Needs burning down that place!!

Food was awful. Combo starter all tasted the same battered to within an inch of lfe. Burgers & hanging kebab for mains. Burgers burnt to cwisp hanging kebab not hanging dead on the plate with raw veg! Salad looked like it had been in the oven, chips tiny cwispy battered bits. It was awful - won't be going again, dodge for food would be my recommendation

Got the sharer for 2 today. Halloumi Fries were very dry. Chicken skewers tasted off and fishy, inedible. Honey and mustard sausages were cold 🥶 Chips only nice thing on the plate. Very disappointing. Wouldn't eat there again

This is a beautiful pub that serves DELICIOUS and very tasty food. I came here and had a three course meal and a drink for £20. Brilliant value for money! I had garlic mushrooms with garlic and herb bread as a starter, buttermilk chicken burger with chips and onion rings as a main and the chocolate, salted caramel ice cream with crushed Maltesers and a flake for dessert. This meal was absolutely delicious and the best food I have tasted by far. The chicken burger came with cheese, but that was entirely my fault, I forgot to tell the waitress, Beth that I don't like cheese at all. So the burger had to be taken back and they had to bring a new burger with no cheese, but again that was entirely my fault, I should of told the waitress that I don't like cheese but I forgot so that was my fault. Nothing else can be faulted, the waitress, Beth and the chef, Jordan were very very helpful and did everything they could to help me and other customers. They helped to the best of their ability. Jordan and Beth were very friendly and were very helpful. The pub itself was very clean and very modern. It's a beautiful pub. Would definitely recommend 1000% and will definitely visit again. Thankyou so much.

Recently the menu has been changed & I’m loving the food on the menu, the staff are incredibly friendly and are professional throughout their time. Knew a lot about the menu and gave us a range of drinks to try. They also told us that if you get two large glasses of any wine we get the rest of the bottles for free!!! My boyfriend was impressed with the price of the beer and was even more impressed when he found out that 3 bottles of Moretti was £7!!!! Incredible. I would definitely suggest this pub to my friends and will definitely be visiting again soon. Thank you for a lovely time Lychgate

My daughter booked a table for mother's Day and although she's never been my wife have been several times previously but not for about 6 months. Always been happy with the service and food with the landlady being a force of nature never still and involved in all aspects of running this busy pub. We walked in and met were with a musty smell and considering it was Mother's Day it was quiet and no one was eating. It so became apparent that the pub was under different management and they obviously had no idea how to run a pub, the very young bar staff were noisy and acting like a group of hooligans and they took at least 2 smoke breaks in the short time it took to finish our drinks. Obviously we decided not to eat and left, we tried to book a meal elsewhere but without success and ending up at our local Wetherspoons which was fine dining compared to the Lychgate. Thanks for ruining our Mother's Day and do the right thing and give in your notice and let someone who cares take over this Standish landmark pub.

Lovely place for just a drink or a meal. Very good menu with plenty choice. Outside courtyard to sit and have a drink weather permitting old flags on floor so care is needed especially for elder and those with mobility issues. Food is delicious and staff very helpful.

Booked table for 4 only three chairs had to ask for another chair. Starter and main came out at same time. Sausages where very tasty though. beans where cold. Not be going again.

Food is shocking, change in management has been a disaster the standards have plummeted and it’s obvious, ordered a sharing plate and sent it back twice then demanded a refund as it was fried to a crisp, old oil, lack of cleaning. Also the beer has the taste when the lines are not cleaned regularly. Was booming under the previous management. Real shame.

Since Zoe and her sister left, the place has drastically for downhill! The food is quite frankly poor at best. I ordered nachos and cheese today… it came out barely warm. I asked the barmaid should the cheese be melted as it wasn’t and she said ‘I don’t know.’ We were regulars, but now we are moving back to our previous bar The White Lion. We just don’t want to play Russian roulette with our food anymore. They need to get a chef or at least someone who can make a decent meal. Very disappointing

Quiet when we went for lunch, nice food and good service. Dog friendly which is always a bonus when you have the four legged child intow.

Had their firecrackers chicken. Right amount of spicy. Chicken is cooked perfectly and served in massive chunks. Service was on the medium to slow side. Portions are very massive. Overall I'm happy with the food

Mixed views on this pub. Nice and tidy exterior and well set out inside. Food was nice, I had steak and ale pie, and was well priced. It was very busy and was only 6pm. Not normally an issue but there was a large dog that was continually barking. Getting served before locals was a problem. The biggest issue was the selection of beers. There are some wonderful beers and lagers out there but they're tied to a brewery called Holts. Never heard of them and hope never to again. I had the premium Diamond lager and it was absolutely terrible. The alternatives were highly priced, middle of the road, standard selection of Bud, Stella and Corona. Won't be going back.

Had a couple of pints of Holt's Diamond, most impressed by this beer, great flavour, easy on the palate, very moreish, however, one would need to consider being strapped in if opting to sink a few pints of this very fine beer.

Secluded, Fantastic, slightly upmarket feeling pub/gastropub. Renovated in recent years. Fantastic value for money. Very cosy, large menu with both typical pub and higher quality food. Big bar, loads of beers and harder stuff. Quick service. Great and friendly staff. Awesome outdoor rear areas with great shady or sunny spots. Smallish private, high quality car park to rear, with narrow entrance. Highly recommended going for lunch during a quiet day when it's not crowded.

Lovely setting and great table service. Food was also fantastic reasonable prices.

Myself and my Mum had a lovely meal here last Wednesday. Mum had fish and chips and said that it was the nicest she had tasted. She asked for the fish to be lightly battered which it was. Our host was very attentive and asked how our meals were and if the batter was light enough; Mum was amazed as she has never been asked this anywhere previously. I had the beetroot burger which was amazing and it came with sweet potato straws. We passed on our compliments which were passed to the chef, to our surprise the chef came and thanked us . It was such a lovely experience, from the friendliness and the service to the wonderful food and we will certainly be going back again.

Iwas disappointed today at the Lichfield. I booked a table for me and my daughter around 2pm. They took our details but never thought to tell us they wasnt serving food. Now why wouldnt you?

Really disappointed with the food. Staff are very helpful and friendly but we waited over an hour for dry, cold, pub grub. Butter chicken burger was really overcooked, dry and inedible. Disappointed that we canned Alberts off as we were looking forward to this, last time we ate here was fantastic. Won’t eat here again until something changes.
