Perfectly nice place, the food is a bit overpriced for what it is but nothing inherently wrong with the flavours. Was enjoyable enough, very lovely staff and chill atmosphere if not a bit loud in the restaurant part.

overpriced for what you get! Ordered a club sandwich at £13.50 with £4 surcharge for chips seems pretty steep! Last Sunday me and my partner came in for a Sunday dinner. We ordered the Korean chicken which was too salty but the chicken was cooked well. We also had the spinach and feta pockets, these barely had any filling. Then we moved on to mains and had 2 beef dinners. Both mine and my partner beef was so chewy. We left most of it. We also couldn’t really eat the roast potato’s the skin was sooo hard most where in inedible. The other sides where really tasty like the mash and the creamed leaks! Also the music was far too loud for having a Sunday dinner and it was quiet cold. The service was really good and all staff where very friendly and attentive. We luckily got our dinner half price due to the code app and I really wouldn’t be happy paying £60 for this. I think there are far better places to get food for the same price in Manchester especially around the NQ area. Highly recommend Trof for Sunday dinner and Elnecot.

This bar is located on a very characterful lively street in the Northern Quarter. The atmosphere was particularly good on a warm August evening with lots of people sitting outside. We chose this bar as it had tables and chairs outside and not bench seats like many of the others. We had two glasses of Prosecco which cost £13. Very annoyingly, they did not accept cash. However, the staff were very pleasant.

We came as it was the first place we found open. The Social Club Sandwich filled me from 12:15 until 18:45. The flavours are just incredible, my wife had some avocado thing, which she assures me was just as wonderful, and she has great taste, she married me for a start. The staff are attentive, but not pushy, the waitress with the cherry patterned trousers on seemed much happier than any waitress I've encountered in Manchester. Avant garde decor, clean and pleasant. A place to revisit.

Really liked this place except 3 little points that makes it a 4. The food, great ideas but it just misses the execution level for the price. Example the figs may as well have been microwaved, chicory was fresh on one half of the dish and wilted on the other & the sourdough was so thin, dried out and anemic it was more like a cracker than toast. If your staff are going to talk about wine like they know what they are talking about they should probably know that they are talking about. It's fine to say I really like this one because it tastes great but don't try and blag it because it sounds cool and "natural orange wine" is trendy. Good wine suppliers are very happy to come and train staff and W sets can be found for free on line these days. And lastly, the out door tables (or at least ours) don't get wiped, even when the waitress is clearing it when you arrive. Could be so much better with just a little bit more experience/effort/training.

Went in with my friends and we were seated near the entrance on the benches which was appreciated. However, no menus were offered so we had to go ask for menus. Then we noticed the table was dirty, wet and sticky. Same member of staff came and started to wipe the table and seemed annoyed. The food was underwhelming. We got a beef roast & a chicken roast. The mash was cold, chicken was very dry, roast potatoes were rock solid and just tasted of grease. Beef was very chewy. Yorkshire pudding was really nice and so was the gravy. We asked for apple sauce & pepper but it never arrived. No salt & pepper on the tables. Once we finished, leaving half the food, they brought over salt & pepper. We ate at 4.30. I was expecting better to be honest.

My partner and I went out for a quick breakfast on Saturday morning and had high hopes as we'd seen how lovely the breakfast was online. Sadly the service was not great, drinks came out quickly but it took a long time for the waiters to come back and ask us for food, even after being served the food took 45 minutes. People around us who had come in 15-20 minutes after us were served before us, similar food ordered. When the food did come out the food was not up to standard as they'd given us burnt/very over done sausages. We did get an apology about the wait but that was all. Whereas we had a similar experience with late food at Rudy's pizza and they took one of the pizzas off the bill as we'd waited 15 minutes or so extra than usual, that's great customer service. It was just really disappointing and we were not updated during the 45 min wait of that was going on. Would not recommend for breakfast.

Went in for brunch as it was pretty busy and the menu was interesting. Was seated in the window with my back to the room. Asked to move and was told there was no room. In retrospect I should have left then. I felt isolated (not social!) and dislike sitting on barstools to eat and having to put my bag out of reach on the floor. My tea went cold really quickly suggesting it wasn't very hot to start with. Turkish eggs were perfectly poached and tasty - served with baby coriander rather than the dill listed on the menu. I just didn't feel very welcome and the service was indifferent.

Wanted to visit as me and my friend are courteeners fans and we’re at Manchester for a gig so didn’t know the area. Walked in and one member of staff was so rude to us, we went to walk upstairs not knowing that those were for reservations nor was this indicated anywhere where he shouted at us “where do you think you’re going” I didn’t hear what he said but my mam replied that we just wanted a table for drinks to which he said “you can’t just be walking around anywhere in here”, I didn’t hear this otherwise I would’ve left but we ordered a drink served by the same man who had such a face on him, stroppily throwing things about and talking to other customers in the same manner. I work in hospitality and I understand we all have bad shifts but he totally ruined the vibe. Other staff members were lovely though but Wouldn’t rush back

Booked a table here and was greeted by a dark haired girl who honestly looked like she didn't want to be there at all. She asked us to follow her and then sort of disappeared without showing us which table we were sat at. Eventually somebody else showed us our table and took a drinks order. The girl brought them but spent 5 minutes wandering round looking for us (probably cos she didn't show us to our seat properly). Food was lovely, we ordered Sunday roasts and can't complain but we also ordered 3 separate things (toast, bacon and an egg) which should have come to £8 and they decided to charge us £7 for eggs on toast and £3 for extra bacon which was quite naughty as I didn't order that and specifically said I wanted them as listed. Been here plenty of times before for drinks/coffee/brunch and never really had a problem other than today which is a shame.

Hii, still in this season of love! To celebrate shrove Tuesday/pancake day 2024, my friend and I organised a day out and took a trip to northern quarter- one of my favourite neighbourhood in Manchester 💗 The Smithfield Social posted that there was going to be free pancakes!! And I mean we just had to go down and indulge. The pancakes were so petite and came in threes, I chose lemon sugar and bacon for mine and my friend had hers with the maple syrup. Overall 10/10 I loved how streaky the bacon was, the pancake texture was perfect and the lemon sugar elevated the meal too.. I am back on my juice journey so I had the pineapple one and water.. hydration is key!! Will I be coming back here?? Definitely YES! There’s a 50% off the all day menu from 12pm till evening for the whole of February!! I loved the ambience, it’s a casual cafe vibe and perfect place to catch up with friends! There’s also space for large groups as well. The staff were excellent 10/10. I’m pretty excited to return to try out more of their menu options P.s: this place is definitely now on my list of best pancake spots in Manchester ❤️

It's a real shame the service was so blunt and cold - ultimately felt like we weren't wanted there. Cleanliness is also lacking. A brilliant menu and wonderful food, it was such a shame the service was awful. My party of four waited for 10 minutes for just for tap water, after asking the grumpy sever that seated us. We then had to go up to another server to provide for us, this also took another 10 minutes. We finally placed our orders and eventually ate our delicious food. When it came to paying, our table had yet to be cleared after 20 minutes of clearly empty plates. We had no engagement with any member of staff for another 20 minutes before asking for the bill - yet another wait - I believe if we had left without paying (which by the standard we had experienced had become quite tempting) no one would have noticed. We eventually payed and left dissapointed.

This place is definitely a bar that does food rather than a restaurant. We came for breakfast, no one came to take our order so I went to the bar and was told it was table service. Someone eventually slogged themselves over. More importantly the food: granola was dry like rabbit food with a dollop of Greek yoghurt. “Pancakes” was a burnt Yorkshire pudding with ice cream in the middle. And the eggs Benedict were not runny and weren’t seasoned. Asked for tap water that didn’t come. The icing on the cake was when the waitress brought the food over and asked “where am I putting this?” In an annoyed voice. Thanks Smithfield, safe to say I’ll never be visiting again!

Have heard so many recommendations about this place through Friends and online so was SUPER disappointed when I went with my sister. Firstly the service was terrible, we walked in the ‘wrong door’ and were told to go to the other one and wait to be seated then the woman just watched us for 5 mins before coming to seat us. I ordered the veggie breakfast and my sister got a roast beef sandwich. After a 30 minute wait, Mine was extremely dry and cold, probs the worst breakfast I’ve eaten out, my sisters was raw, the beef was completely purple, looked sickening so I asked them to get her a new one or cook it a bit more. It came back the exact same shade of purple except they just stuck an extra piece of beef on it. We could tell because the purple slice was still stone cold. We didn’t complain again and she just ate the bread. Then when we went to pay, probably because we had complained, the server was very cold with us and had a miserable face one. Not even a thank you or was your meal all right just tap here and get out.

Overcooked and overpriced. Came to visit the restaurant on a Saturday morning, obviously we expect a long wait, the restaurant is very busy. After a good half an hour wait our food is delivered, I have the steak and eggs. The steak is nicely cooked, all four forkfulls of of it, the potatoes are cold and not at all crispy, the egg has been cooked for around 30 min. It's the same treatment with shakshuka, clearly it has been left to cook to death underneath a hot pass in the kitchen, incredibly dry, once again egg is solid. The toast on the side is black. The social breakfast, the standard full English, 2 sorry pieces of bacon, a depressing looking sausage, more burnt toast and overcooked eggs, I'm starting to sense a theme. Overall the food is dry, the eggs are a choking hazard, and the coffee isn't even that great, £3.50 for a thimble full of cold coffee. For over £20 pounds a person is it too much to ask for a meal with a moisture content above 0%? Overall, not worth the money, disappointing.

We have used this place a few times for food and drinks and always had a good time there. the same applies to this latest visit even though we didn't actually go in the bar because it was a beautiful day and they have a great outside seating area on Thomas Street. In fact, this was the reason it is a four-star rather than five star review. Nearly everyone was understandably sitting outside and we were served our drinks in glass. Somebody then came out and abruptly took them from us which seemed a bit strange. I understand the need for plastic but surely they should ask at the bar? Other than this, we had a great time. Good drinks at reasonable prices, a decent happy hour and a terrific atmosphere.

This is a great gem in the heart of Manchester with fantastic food and a lovely interior. Would highly recommend going here for a brunch. My only criticism (or rather room for improvement) was that the espresso martinis need a bit of work - too much foam. Overall experience was excellent.

Situated in the part of Manchester’s Northern Quarter that feels a lot like London’s Shoreditch - we’re at the place called Smithfield social! It sits on a short run of bar / restaurants and shines out as the one with the best food menu IMHO. The menu is comprehensively ‘bistro / brunch’ - putting a twist on some classics, such as ‘green eggs and ham’. Everything was well cooked and served with a smile! After brunch we slid into lunchtime drinking as the table was in the sun. The bar staff were great and we left knowing this will be our go-to spot for future sunny weekend eats. UPDATED: still cool, but food experience was poor this time. Giant cous cous salad came without dressing and chicken dish was dry. We’ll see what happens next time!

I got the KFG burger and fries which cost me £16.50 (shared in picture). I have also included a picture of my sons meal which was the £6 burger and fries (which includes a drink too). Not quite sure why I'm paying £10 more for mine when they are basically the same size. I have to admit my burger was very nice flavour wise. The service here is always good in particular one waitress (she has strawberry blonde/ginger hair. She always makes a fuss of my boys which means a lot. I love the kids menu options, but I think some of the adult options are overpriced.

A great spot for a casual night out, my wife had been here before with friends and really enjoyed it, we had tried to late book this night at a couple of our normal Manchester haunts, but they were full - Nice to see Manchester getting back to normal. We had booked a table here and when we got in, I thought it looked to be very relaxed place for a younger crowd, loud music (not that we are bothered by that), and we were sat down. The table we had was a little small and struggled to get wine, water and food on the table. The food came and we had a mixture of prawns, steak and wings all very nice and for a change mostly / all made on site and not from pre made up cans and bottles. Also, the rare steak was presented rare - a rarity nowadays, if you pardon the pun. The food / at table drinks service was very good and I also thought the prices were reasonable too. Would I go back certainly, the menu is not a full service menu, but well put together and a reasonable complementary wine offering to match.

Solid brunch menu. Will definitely be returning. We walked in and were seated in minutes on a busy Saturday with no booking- so thank-you team for looking after us ! Food is top notch and really reasonably priced. Service was fast too!

This weekend I went to Smithfield Social with friends for brunch and left with the same mixed feelings I had on the two previous visits - excellent food but the service just lets it down every time. We ordered brunch and my friend can't eat mushrooms so she kindly asked for those to be removed or if possible, could she swap for an extra egg - the waitress was sharp in her response, "no swaps. we don't do swaps - you'll have to pay for an extra one". My friend then made an off the cuff comment to me, "oh well you [me] can just have them if I'm paying for them" and again the waitress interjected with a no, they came with her dish or not at all. The principle was ok, a bit odd but ok, however t the delivery from the waitress came across very stern and inhospitable. We then struggled with service throughout our meal. For the first hour of our brunch we were given table service, food and drinks ordered at our table and brought to our table. After an hour in we were waiting for ages with empty glasses. I flagged down a waitress and put in a drinks order - twenty mins later, still no sign of our two drinks. When the waiter came to take our plates I asked for the drinks again. Another fifteen mins and still no drinks. When I went and chased them down for a second time, we were told they were on the side - were we supposed to know that? Had they moved to bar service during our meal and not told us? Very frustrating to see three waitresses stood chatting at the tills but still we were sat there without our drinks despite having ordered them twice from two different people. We ordered a final round of drinks before leaving and when they came to the table my friend's glass of prosecco was half full, literally half a glass when her previous drinks had been full to the brim almost. We couldn't be bothered raising another problem so paid the bill and left. Such a shame because the food is really lovely but in the times I've visited, the service has always been such a mixed bag. Unsure if I'd recommend.

Absolutely horrific experience. Ordered a Caesar salad and there was a SLUG in my food. Once it was returned to the kitchen the staff proceeded to laugh in hysterics. I felt humiliated and disgusted. Would never recommend this place to anyone.

Came for a Saturday brunch on the last weekend of May, requesting a quieter table which was honoured - thank you :) The food came in a timely manner and we were able to enjoy the remainder of our drinks without feeling rushed or under pressure to leave the table. I had the steak and eggs with additional spinach, and it was very very tasty. Steak cooked exactly as I like it too, pink. Will definitely return again soon, perhaps for an evening meal during the week as can imagine the atmosphere to be completely different (not in a negative way!)

was 124 Deluv, now grape and graze. charcuterie and wine for 2 = £29.95 didn’t like the wine included so opted for a different one at £1 extra (shiraz) ordered another bottle to be told that was the last bottle so ordered a malbec and asked if they could do at the same price as the shiraz and was told No! so paid extra £4 for that - cost wasn’t a problem but the attitude was - our waitress however was lovely we have been here twice before and had issues both times - won’t be going again!!! When Ray had the place then known as 124 Deli we went regular and he couldn’t do enough for us - he always went out of his way offering us wine to try for our opinion as he liked quality as do we but the wine included in the offer here is cheap and there isn’t an opportunity to try it - maybe put the cost up to £35 for 2 sharing to cover a choice of wine!!!
