Picked a visit to the Trooper on a spur of the moment for somewhere new to try for Saturday lunch & didn't regret it. A proper non-chain pub, great food at a decent price, and friendly staff. The only thing I could moan about is that it's not closer to my house ! 5⭐

What a find! We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch before Christmas. Food, decoration, atmosphere - all excellent. Staff made us feel welcome and were ever so helpful and friendly. Great experience, we will be coming back. Thank you!

Went with my sister,didn't have the festive menu as we didn't book in time,but never mind as the food was absolutely great.very extensive menu service was first class.lovely staff and as a bonus they had my favourite beer Timothy Taylor landlord.we will definitely be back.

We haven’t eaten here for a while, but decided to try it when a friend visited. The food was very good and a great atmosphere for a Saturday night - busy but not overcrowded. The staff were friendly and efficient and we had a lovely evening. The only complaint was that some of the food was served on metal trays. Call me old fashioned, but I like a nice plate! Apparently, ‘the brewery’ insists that they do this. It’s a pub, not a cheap American diner.

Food absolutely beautiful, fabulous atmosphere always a warm welcome from all the staff. We visit quite regular, the children love it.

Great local pub for a nice meal and drinks, good prices. Chill atmosphere can get busy so book a table. Perfectly situated off a57, near shops, another pub, post office, bus stops. Big parking area, outside beer garden in summer. Dog friendly in one area, private hire of a events room upstairs a good size! Definitely recommend a visit :)

Reservé una mesa solo para beber, se sentaron a menos de un metro de la mesa de al lado, me sentí bastante incómodo durante el covid 19.Luego, después de 30 minutos, nos dijeron que alguien necesitaba nuestra mesa dentro de la próxima hora, así que no me sentí muy relajado tomando unas copas. Primera visita allí y será la última.

Recientemente visité con amigos temprano un sábado por la noche. Ambiente encantador de pub sin música y gritos, solo gente charlando con entusiasmo y amistad. Todo el personal era agradable y acogedor. La comida era deliciosa y todo parecía hecho en casa y una excelente relación calidad-precio, los pasteles estaban deliciosos. Sin duda lo recomendaría y sin duda volveremos.

Went here for Sunday Lunch (1st time) wasn’t disappointed it was lovely and plenty of it even bring you extra gravy Well worth a visit

Excellent food staff very friendly and attentive. Lovely atmosphere. I can recommend it especially as it's Christmas. A truly oldy worldly feel because it's a very old pub and its retained that feels.

Visited here with my husband and we had a wonderful sunday roast. Everything was all homemade, plentiful and hot. Would highly recommend.

Llegamos a almorzar, una joven muy amable se nos acercó para tomar una copa. Más tarde pedimos comida y fue servida por una encantadora señorita llamada harriet. La comida era absolutamente preciosa. Sin duda volveré y recomendaré este lugar a otros.

A group of walkers had a lunch break at this pub. Although we only had snacks the food was speedily served. The beer was on good form. Clean, tidy and interesting. Well worth a visit

Personal amable. Tienes que esperar por la comida, pero siempre recién preparada y bien presentada. Mi hijo tenía la hamburguesa con casi todo: el plato estaba vacío (¡solo!) Y no había espacio para nada dulce. El jamón era encantador y huevos cocinados a la perfección (no se deja bajo un plato caliente para ir duro). Siempre una buena selección de cervezas y ginebras.

Un frío martes por la noche después de la nieve y el lugar estaba agitado, pero no demasiado fuerte. El servicio fue rápido, amable y eficiente. La comida que pedimos no tardó en llegar. Nosotros, jubilados tacaños, compartíamos pan de ajo y queso como aperitivo, que llegó demasiado caliente para recogerlo, así que me puse a cuchillo y tenedor. Fue excelente. Con demasiada frecuencia, el pan de ajo se sirve como tostadas de ajo, esto fue deliciosamente suave. Mi blu steak seguido y el chef había hecho maravillas con un bistec que era un poco delgado y, por último, un chef que entiende que el FAT es necesario para el gusto y no lo recorta. . Las patatas fritas (no papas fritas gracias a Dios) no parecían muy apetecibles, pero el servicio fue muy irritable, dado por un muchacho joven que no dio su nombre, era un poco torpe, pero excelente. This was our second visit to the loyal trooper on this occasion we felt disappointed at the lack of food available no sausage only one steak and no sweet potato fries such a shame as could be a lovely pub

Visité con mi esposa e hijos. La comida era genial, la tajada Barnsley más grande que he visto, estaba buenísimo. Si quieres sin lujos comida de pub, este lugar es genial. Si esperas Pub gástrico, no será para ti.

En esta ocasión, estoy muy decepcionado con la comida. El primer plato, "Sopa de tomate" era lo suficientemente sabrosa, pero muy escaso, más como una lata de tomates picados reducido hacia abajo.

Este lugar estaba prácticamente vacío cuando llegamos con un amigo, el menú se veía realmente bien. La comida ordenó y esperamos más de 40 minutos para que llegue. Mi rey gambas linguini apenas estaba caliente, el pan de ajo frío y incomible. Reemplazaron esta comida, pero esto solo fue cálido, comí una cuarta parte porque tenía mucha hambre. Tenía pud de esponja y natillas que venía caliente y sabía bien. Las pocas personas que estaban comiendo también se quejaron de que la comida no estaba lo suficientemente caliente. El joven de la cocina se disculpó mucho. No volvería a comer aquí y definitivamente no lo recomendaría a nadie.

Just had the most delicious fish and chips. Light batter and juicy delicate flakes of fish, home made chips cooked to perfection.

1st time visit on a Saturday afternoon for drinks only. Nice enough place outside, inside full of wood panelling, dark corners and low ceilings. It was alright but that's about it. Very food orientated, drinks were ok if a little expensive and we were eyed with suspicion throughout as the 'locals' obviously very much resented strangers daring to visit 'their' pub ! Very uncomfortable... Bar service was friendly though.

Having recently moved into the area, I received many recommendations about this establishment. Every single person spoke of the wonderful staff and ambience along with fantastic food & drink. They didn't speak highly enough.

Yes it was mothers day and not over busy at 3pm but the locals were made a priority 15mins wait and I was first at the bar,snobbery woman who was waited on hand and foot but ate with her bare hands won't rush back obviously look after the locals

Gorgeous pub in the middle of a quiet village, staff very friendly and welcoming, the food was spot on, just gorgeous. Decor very warming and homely and the pub is very clean. Loved it. Definitely worth a visit. Thankyou :)

Our local, the food is good pub grub with plenty of choice at lunch and dinner time, themed evenings and SundayRoasts . It gets very busy so you might have a wait so don't go if you're in a rush! Great landlady, dog friendly, nuff said,

Been a local here for over twenty years and seen the place through a succession of landlords and incarnations. This is probably as good as it has ever been. The place is warm and clean with a good selection of real beers. Dogs are now restricted to the left hand side bar but that's fine. There is a good selection of food on offer which, to be honest, hasn't always been of the best but apparently the cooking arrangements have been changed so probably for the better. Car park is absolutely massive and so being just down from the church gets a lot of funeral wake trade which can make it pretty crowded.

This was our second visit to eat at this pub although I didn't do a review for the 1st visit both were very good. The pub is lovely inside with a two rooms at the front and an extended room at the back. There's a decent selection of cask ales and the place is well maintained and clean.The menu is short but varied. We had whitebait as a starter then chicken and ham hock pie and beef madras. The whitebait was slightly overcooked but still tasty. The mains were really good very tasty and a cut above what the pubco's offer. Service was excellent and personal.A great pub.

What a breath of fresh air. A lovely place to wine and dine. Well recommended. The staff are friendly and more than obliging. Nothing is too much trouble.Will definitely visit again.

This pub delivers good value, good food and always a friendly welcome. Staff are attentive even during busy times. One of our daughters constantly raves about the chickpea curry the other one is obsessed by the quiz night ! We are privileged to have such a quality establishment on our doorstep. Also great for the real ale fans.

Ate here with my friend - we chose the curry for 4 people as we wanted a selection between us.We found them very poor in taste and with minimal quantities of meat.A friend joined us for a drink before our meal and her Latte took 25 minutes to arriveIts a pity because they have some good real ales and its a nice interior for a local pub but unfortunately we wont be returning.

Absolutely amazing, great quality home cooked food, served piping hot and plenty of it too ! Staff cant do enough for you with the setting and atmosphere spot on. Food takes approx 5 mins to arrive after ordering. I can HONESTLY say this is one of the best places I have ever dined at. Value for money every time and after six visits the service and quality has never lessened. Plenty of draught beer choices including San Miguel. You must try this hidden gem !!!

The beer was good, food itself was OK if small portions. The staff however left much to be desired. We waited over an hour for our food when it arrived they had gotten my partner's order wrong. The waitress was abrupt and rude about our complaint that the order was incorrect. The order was not resolved and she was clearly frustrated that we had the audacity to ask for ketchup with our chips. I don't think the staff where intending to be ignorant but the kitchen is clearly overworked. That being said the place wasn't busy so perhaps it's a logistical issue with the ordering process. Either way the experience wasn't very pleasant and if you want food I would give the place a wide berth. Also the tables where wobbly and bent when you put any pressure on them, and there was no salt, pepper or vinegar to be seen either.

Good food and a good pint, the Landlord or Landlady can make a pub.This pub enjoys a charasmatic Landlady, her personal energy and personality sets this pub apart from others. Great choice of pub food fair with differant meal promotions through out the week.Always a pleasure for the family to dine there.

We attended a birthday party for a friend of ours. The function room is upstairs and is a decent size with its own bar. It probably holds about 80 people and the bar is well still stocked. The only problem was if you wanted a Guinness you had to go downstairs and the toilets were downstairs as well. The buffet food was nice and there is plenty of parking.

Me and my parents hate having to drive to a restaurant so it's very nice that we can just walk down the hill to the good old trooper. I've never been disappointed thanks for that on going enjoyment. We even came on Christmas Day.

Called in here for a spur of the moment lunch and enjoyed a delicious home made pie with melt in your mouth pastry and real chips.Staff were very friendly, service was good, food was lovely and the log burner made it really warm and toasty.

Really homely feel in this village pub and the food is great at great prices, always nice hand pull beers on offer.

Visited with the Wife, Daughter and Son in Law around a month ago,as a bit of a celebration for my Son in Laws new job and a swift promotion. My self and Son in Law ordered the mixed grill, the Wife ordered the salmon dish and my Daughter a home made burger.Shortly after ordering we were informed that there were no lamb chops available for the grills,however we could re order or have a full steak with the grill as a substitute for the lamb.We both opted for the upgraded steak,and were not to be disappointed.Our meals as we have come to expect from this pub did not let us down.Steaks cooked to perfection as was all the meat with the grill.Triple cooked chips to die for,a true meat eaters delight.The Daughters home made Burger I was told was superb as was the wife's salmon. All washed down with some wonderful real ales.We will of course return again.

Went on Thursday 24th September for my retirement party, we pre-booked our meals. Jeanie and her team did an excellent job the meals were served very fast. All our food was excellent and very hot, everyone was very happy and we had a wonderful evening. My daughter has decided to have her birthday meal there too which will again be a group booking. Excellent keep it up

Looked great when we got in, have been a few times previously. Was quite surprised at the price of drinks though. More expensive than London! Eg. Pint of shandy was 3.40.

Visited the Loyal Trooper with my wife, we were very pleased with all aspects of the pub especially the (apparently) new landlady, her name I think is Jeanie, a very pleasant & down to earth character willing to go that extra little bit to make sure you have enjoyed your visit. We will be returning with other friends.

Been many times over the years, but my last two visits first for along time, real enjoyed the meal and drinks the new landlady Jeanie a real character and good fun, will go again and would recommend

This has been recently been taken over. The new landlady is fantastic. She was so welcoming and nothing was too much. Great pub for good pub grub. We will certainly become regular visitors can't wait to see some of the specials. Well done - awesome job

We live a short walk away from this pub but have only just started eating here. The fish and chips are gorgeous and they do deals on food, such as 2 fish n chips for £12 on a Friday and steak nights etc. Never had a bad meal and service is great. The decor is lovely and the setting is great. A lovely little village pub. Oh...and dogs are welcomed in the tap room.

I arrived with my 16yr old niece to have tea at 5o'clock. Told chef was stuck in traffic. After 10 minutes a young couple arrive at bar and ordered food .I said ho the chef must have arrived so I happened to say we've been waiting and got up to order. I was then greeted from this thug of a youth to f--k off and get out. I couldn't beleived what I was hearing .He kept repeating his self so I asked to speak to manager who was just bar staff & believe it or not he said its a public bar what do you want me to do.This thug was still at it so I walked out and replied we are going to a pkace where there is nice people. I have lived in this village for over 35yrs and always used the Trooper but I'm afraid it's true what people are saying that they are letting scum in who are the lowest of the low.Please mark my word wear a gum shield if you go in there

Absolutely fuming, my auntie and cousin visited today at 5pm for food , they have been LOYAL CUSTOMERS may I add for a number of years as they live in the area and the treatment the manager gave them is by far the worst customer service I have ever heard of! Chef was late! They were waiting over an hour for him or her to arrive , when the chef finally arrived they wasn't told so, so they could order food! Resulting in a quite appalling scum bag of a customer telling my auntie to "shut the f*** up" (baring in mind my 15 year old cousin was present at the time and heard everything) when my auntie complained to the manager the manager said "what do you want me to do about it their paying customers" customers may I add that are not from the area that don't have any people skills! How can a manager let people like that come in the pub as a one off talk to other people like that and not do anything about it is beyond me! This place needs shutting down and probably will be with the low life people they let in to abuse people!

This place is one of my favourite places to go to eat. There is a nice warmly atmosphere and really friendly staff. The food is really well presented and tastes great. I highly recommend the chilli. It's by far the best I have tasted. There is a really great deal on a Thursday for 2 steaks and a bottle of wine for £22.. I'd choose going here over chain restaurants any day! By far the best place to eat in Anston / Dinnington in my opinion.
