Complained about the barman being racist and got told it's ok. Go to none racist pubs in the area!

Lovely pub. A few good real ales, plus some nice premiums (Cruz Campo, Birra Moretti, Madri etc.). Pies & pizzas are supposed to be really good too, but I'm yet to try them. Great staff, always friendly, dog friendly pub, takes card payments as well. Bonus points for the real log-fire!! 🔥🙌🍺🥃

They screwed up our food order but gave us the food for free plus a couple of free pints. Can’t say fairer than that. Good boozer, great ambiance, could do with a more varied beer beer selection. Too beer garden. Check it out, it’s good.

Great Pie and a pint on quiz night

The crown has definitely changed since I last visited some 18 years ago. Lovely atmosphere with a range of traditional and real ales. Staff were polite and friendly. The venue was absolutely packed, which didn't suprise me as people sat around drinking next to a lovely log burner in the winter night. Highly reccomend a visit.

Me and the missus have quickly become regulars here. Always great beer at great prices, and their quiz is fantastic

Called in today 7th of january i thought the timmy taylors was a bit overpriced but the lovely log burner was terrific

Great selection of drinks at usual prices. Food selection and quality is excellent at really good pub prices. Atmosphere is always very cosy and nice. Quiz is very good. Beer garden is excellent and includes a screen for sports. Can get busy on Friday and Saturday nights.

What a great pub, fantastic selection of real ales and many assorted lagers to suit all. Cosy atmosphere and very dog friendly. Clean toilets, a must visit with a bus stop outside.

Pros: shows football, good beer garden/yard. Cons: cliquey staff, too much tat on the walls. Not a bad pub.

Hate children but love dogs. The woman behind the bar very sheepishly said they don't allow 'them' pointing at my son. This was a weekday and 5pm!! Absolutely disgusting.

Lovely pub with a true homely feel. So pleased to see a bitter bitter on tap! Cheap too and guess what, there were people in!! UPDATE (5.06.21) Sat in the beer garden. If the incredible inside doesn't impress you (and it will) the outside is simply amazing. What a hidden gem! The staff are attentive and you aren't left standing around wondering what to do re Covid rules etc. My original 4 star review is upped to 5.

We’ve been to this pub a lot over the years and have never had any issues, always felt at home and it’s been a really friendly and inviting place. We called in during a week day asking if they were serving food and the lady behind the bar said food wasn’t served until 5, fair enough. Anyways, the way in which she said and pointed at my sleeping baby in the pram was very rude, BUT WE DONT ALLOW THEM (pointed) CHILDREN, the way she said it as like I had an alien with me! Even my mum was taken back who is the most polite person in the world. Sorry but it’s a no from me in the future, I’ve never (obviously) been in with my alien before, always friends and family but not again with that attitude towards people. It’s very EXTREMELY lovely towards dogs may I add, big board saying “All dogs welcome, friends Humans also welcome” just don’t mention anything about small humans! Anyways, NOT family friendly and I doubt even more so friendly at all any more! Avoid that woman and giving her your money 😘

Avoid like the plague, uninviting and hostile pub. Been coming here a long time with no prior issues, but one day (just after covid restrictions were lifted) towards the end of the night the new landlord stopped the bartender as he was pouring my mates pint, saying he was barred and refusing to give a reason why. We went again a few months later, no issues, but recently we were confronted by them once more and told we weren't welcome in here anymore now the old management was gone. No reasoning at all, just victimising us because our faces don't fit I guess. Horrible place.

Fantastic pub full of real ale, good vibes, board games and gin! Pies are excellent and well worth a try. The beer garden is Brill, even better in summer with all the flowers! A real hive of activity and staff really friendly, great pub Beer garden now has a veranda and tent cover with big spacious benches. Have alot of chrisps, nuts and sweets to have with pint. Very dog friendly with snacks and waterbowls

Ok pub, friendly staff but disappointing pie (a bit dry and not freshly made). Hoped as pies were the only option on the menu, they’d be good, but they were just reheated Pieminister ones…

Visited this pub loads in the past had to say up until today one of my favourite places to enjoy a drink . However today I left without even finishing my drink ! Very upset and disappointed! Dog friendly they say ! Not in my experience today ! Clearly not every staff member likes dogs that is clear ! Very upsetting experience and won’t be going back there again !

Last night, the landlord of the pub shouted at us completely out of the blue and was extremely verbally abusive. It was absolutely vile, telling us to shut the **** up and that everyone in the pub was thinking it. We asked everyone around us and no one had an issue with us. We also spoke to the bar staff and they said there was nothing they could do - we were not asked to leave either, again showing we had done nothing wrong. Avoid this pub if you are young or not a local.

We went here with some of our friends, this man was staring at us the whole time making us feel really uncomfortable. Found out it was the landlord. Really strange atmosphere here.

The fosters I had tasted like the pipes hadn't been cleaned in months. The land lord was also very rude and nasty too myself and the party i was with. Would seriously not recommend

I have been drinking regularly at this pub for months, every week and have taken our friends here too because the bar staff are super friendly, always a great atmosphere and fantastic prices. HOWEVER - the landlord of this pub is absolutely vile. We were in this pub tonight and the landlord shouted at me and my friends, swearing, telling us to shut the f up, yelling that he was "sick of hearing us speak". I have never been spoken to in this manner in ANY pub. I brought the issue up to the bar staff who told me there was "nothing that could be done" as he's the landlord. I queried what would happen if it was any other customer, with no avail. This was the worst experience I have ever had and I strongly recommend not coming to this pub as the landlord does not deserve any custom for the attitude he has. Absolutely disgusting behaviour. I left in tears. PLEASE AVOID.

At least it was open for a change. Tried it on new years day but it was closed for no reason.

Great local with a landlord who knows what makes for a great local.

A woman was refused phone charging because the bar manager said they were liable for the phone behind the bar. Bar staff were helpful but were disciplined for helping the young woman who had lost her keys. The woman was intoxicated and had lost her keys she had no other option and it was such a shame the bar manager refused to help to this woman as I had previously liked this pub. We took the woman to the brothers arms where without question she was allowed to charge her phone. The women were concerned about recent spikings and I personally expect better from pubs in meersbrook to be protecting and helping women find their way hone safely.
