I'd review less if I could. Kicked me out when I was alone on Christmas eve. Said I was swaying after one pint. Avoid. Not nice

Had a brilliant evening enjoying the Xmas menu last night. Food was superb, service fabulous, we felt really looked after from beginning to end. Will definitely be back, thank you again.

Delicious food, but the pub got some of our pre orders wrong and tried to serve food with dairy in to a vegan in our group

Muy decepcionado que necesitaba una comida sin grasa. Hablé de mis necesidades y pedí lubina. Aceptan asar el pescado, específicamente dije que no usara aceite en la verdura o papas o de lo contrario no podré comerlo. Cuando llegó la comida, la verdura y las papas estaban cubiertas de aceite. El pescado estaba casi bien para mí comer. Proporcionaron un plato separado para el pescado y acordaron volver a hacer la verdura de nuevo. Hicieron las patatas, pero las verduras nunca llegaron. Como esto fue un regalo de cumpleaños muy decepcionado. La comida es buena, pero no dependas de que cocinen como la necesitas, incluso si aceptan hacerlo.

Didn't have any food just coffees which was very good and a very friendly service and nothing too much trouble

The food here was so good for the price point especially! Really nice atmosphere, busyish even on a cold Wednesday in November. Can recommend if you want delicious local food at a very reasonable price.

Cannot praise this place enough since the new owners took over. They have brought a fresh look to the place and the food is excellent. Highly recommended all round.

Encantador pub local, acogedor y acogedor! La comida es deliciosa, los asados del domingo son el siguiente nivel! Lo mismo en la tienda cerrada que también poseen. Gran elección de bebidas y no alcs. Bonito un amplio interior, mesa de billar es bueno. ¡La música de amor del mes pasado también fue genial! Muy recomendable

I’d never been to the Walkey Cottage before the refurbishment but I’m really glad I did, the staff are proper warm and friendly, the atmosphere is nice and relaxed and the food is great.

Lovely new feel to the pub, nice and clean and good atmosphere. Food is excellent and well cooked! Great selection cask ale which is kept well too.

I came with a few friends for a birthday meal not long after the kitchen reopened, and the food was brilliant. Great range of small plates and the fish and chips were delicious! one of the best pieces of fish I've had. The bar staff are lovely and the new landlady and kitchen team are spot on! Would highly recommend for food or for a chilled time, especially now there's a new pool table!

Met my friend for Sunday lunch, very pleased to be able to have a vegan and gluten free meal. Very tasty and portion size just right. My friend had the vegetarian version and really enjoyed it. The staff were friendly and efficient, which is particularly commendable at such a busy time.

New management is great, the food is absolutely top tier, Sunday roasts are a MUST either here or their sister pub at the closed shop! So much food for your money and the veggies are great too! And those yorkies 😍😍 Decor much nicer and cosy now. Good pool table great selection of drinks too.

Spacious car park, roasts better than my mum can make (don’t tell her) and the service is outstanding this place is a gem and I shall be back

The pub also had a nice menu with delicious food options. I tried the fish and chips, and it exceeded my expectations. The portion sizes were generous, and everything was cooked to perfection. Overall, The Walkley Cottage is a fantastic place for a night out with friends or a casual dinner. I can't wait to return and try more from their menu. Highly recommend!

Hands down the worst Sunday dinner I've ever had. The plate was full of mash and roast potatoes a few pieces of carrots and the seasonal veg was a bit of cabbage and the meat I'm sure they forgot to put that on. Very expensive for what you get. Especially when there is pubs very close offering better value.

Didn't seem very prepared for bonfire night

Food was OK ,my friend had the fish but said not enough seasoning and too many potato's, quiz was too hard ,didn't like flashing lights constantly

Absolutamente impresionante comida, la comida es increíble, la mejor comida que he tenido en meses, el chef y el personal son encantadores, muy buena relación calidad-precio, yo tenía la salchicha y el puré y era increíblemente bueno, otros tenían el halloumi y el pescado que se disfrutaron enormemente, muy recomendable!

Superb new decor has really brought a fantastic little venue to life. Service was impeccable from the friendly Annabelle and always welcoming Sophie. The food was beyond divine. The management need to be praised for bringing some of the best locally sourced food to the area and the chef is simply a wizard. Friends visited at the weekend and were blown away by the quality and value of the three small plates option. They declared the pork was melting in the mouth, matched by the brilliant wings and I think they ran out of praise when they hit the halloumi. My friend went for the artisan sausage yesterday and said my praise was not misplaced. Thats genuinely the largest frankfurter and she confirmed tastiest, we have ever seen. I went for the new addition of pies, Wow wow and wow again. Beautiful chunks of chicken, ham hock and leek in the most stunning pastry! No idea how this wizard makes those mash potatoes so creamy but from an Irish woman...he's nailed it! We tried the new gin cheesecake and again a perfect end to a perfect meal. Can not praise the food and service enough and totally understand why the Sunday lunches often need booking to ensure the best food in Sheffield. I haven't forgotten the vegetarians as this menu has a massive range of options for the non carnivores, which looked mighty tempting to this meat eater! Thank you Sophie, Annabelle and Chef Matt and the rest of the hardworking team for a fantastic meal and experience. We shall be back!

Pricey alcohol but great pub and staff and food is quality

Don't think it's a good thing to have dogs scrapping while having a meal. Patrons need to control their dogs or leave them at home. Great food and service but letting dogs in while food being served needs looking at.

As a fan of the closed shop it's great to have that closer to home. Love the food (great vegan options, but something for everyone), enjoyed the pool table and friendly staff!

Food was incredible, lovely cosy atmosphere! Would recommend the sea bass 100%, fresh ingredients, cooked to perfection!

Update - new management and tried food on a Friday (as we love Closed Shop too! I had Steak & Ale pie n mash (delicious) and Karen had Chicken, Ham Hock and Leek pie, with chips - superb! Super and keep doing what you're doing.

Just had a wonderful meal at the walkley cottage under it's new management. We had an amazing time and so chuffed to live near this great pub.

We had some great food, the Fish and Chips, the Beef and Guinness stew, the Korean ribs, the Bang Bang chicken were all seriously good, perfectly cooked and very moreish. A lovely surprise was the "Ideali ", a delicious dessert from Georgia.

Just been for Sunday lunch and it was absolutely beautiful. [4 of us] Presentation was first class. We had lamb, beef and fish and chips. Cannot fault it. Will definitely be going back.

The team at the Walkley Cottage did an amazing job of hosting my mother's wake recently. The food and service was exceptional, and Matt made sure everything was exactly as I wanted. Thank you to the Walkley Cottage for their support, advice and service, and their beautiful homemade sausage rolls and scones!

We came here with some friends for dinner, it took some time until a waiter came and see us, but the rest was at good speed. They have many options for dinner, unfortunately there isn’t anything that you can consider healthy 😅 I tasted the loaded potato’s with pulled pork, very tasty, and I had the gammon very tasty also. The fries were mushy though… And you can see in the picture how the peas are just to say that it had peas 😅 The people I came with told me that sometimes they don’t have pop, so it might be relevant if you want non alcoholic drinks. They also have frequent theme nights, sounds fun ☺️

The staff were so courteous and polite. They kept checking with our party to make sure everything was ok with us. Just a pleasant experience.

Fantastic reception from staff, food amazing. Went as a family for Mother’s Day. Little extras as glass of Prosecco on arrival, flowers in the table, and a rum truffle. Excellent!! . Well done all involved. Highly recommend

Visited today for the 1st time, food was delicious, home made, fresh and was served beautifully, will definitely be back, staff were all very lovely and the landlords interaction with us was welcome, explained all the deserts and praised his wife for making them all fresh. Bev/Jayne & Sean enjoyed today and will see you again, Andy & Colleen will probably be in later this week as just about everything on the menu is available Gluten-free 😁

One member of staff tried on two occasion to take drinks off the table before they were finished without asking us first. On both occasions she stuck her fingers in the glass to pick them up. Not very nice and ended up not finishing them off because we weren't sure how clean her hands were. 🤢

We just recently moved to Walkley and wanted to have a relaxed Friday evening. Searched Google for a nice pub near us and The Walkley Cottage came up. We couldn't resist Friday fish & chips. The food was very nice, the presentation fantastic and I would love to get their recipe for chunky tartare sauce ;) The atmosphere and staff were very friendly. Really enjoyed our evening after a busy week at work, will definitely come again!

A huge thank you to the staff for letting my daughter and I come in early last week when we got stranded due to snow. The staff were so kind and considerate. The food was wonderful (sausage and mash and quiche) and excellent value. Would come again (in less stressful circumstances hopefully!)

Matt and the team have it totally right. It’s perfect for families friends and everyone in between. The food is fantastic - especially the Sunday lunch. Everyone is welcome and you really feel it. I can’t recommend highly enough.

Had a Christmas meal here and it was fab. Very reasonably priced at £25 per person for 3 courses. I had the soup, hake and after eight cheesecake and all were delicious! The service is also great.

I really like the walkley cottage, the food is good and the staff are very friendly. It also has a decent beer garden! We love going here for Sunday lunch. Great food. Update: We tried the festive menu and really enjoyed it! Good food for a good price.

We chose the Walkley Cottage once again for our friend Xmas meal. Everyone raved about their food - came out hot, fresh and all together - even though there were 14 of us. Nothing was too much trouble. Special mentions to the Brie balls, Yorkshire puddings (huuuuge) and profiteroles. Good beer and wine choices too. I think this will be our ‘go to’ Xmas meal venue every year.

What a treat, been in for Sunday lunch, the food was beautiful, after a selection of starters which were very nice we had loin of beef dinner, a leg of lamb dinner ,steak and ale pie, roast chicken and beef and Guinness stew, also had a few desserts which again were very good ( I can definitely vouch for the chocolate brownie) the portions are perfect too, great atmosphere and it was nice and warm too as was a cold day outside, staff were great, attentive and nothing to much trouble, food arrived in good time and all at same time too, the owner (I think) came across for a little natter and was genuinely pleased we all had a great meal, thanks to the chefs, waiters and the whole team for a lovely Sunday meal experience, will definitely be returning 👍👍

Went for a family birthday ( 17 Inc children). Tables already prepared and food was pre ordered due to size of party. Staff very pleasant and helpful, continuous service. Food very good delivered in good time, beers very good too. All in all a good experience, will go again.

Went into the cottage today for my friends birthday. There were four of us eating and we all ate different things. Two of our party had starters too. The menu was varied and interesting and I can honestly say we all thoroughly enjoyed it

Large group of friends attended for Sunday dinner. Despite the numbers, everybody's meal arrived together and on time. The food was well presented, tasted great and was a good portion. The staff were very friendly and tentative. The pub had a great atmosphere Will definitely be going back.

A large group of 22 booked for the Sunday lunch and all were impressed, a wide choice on the menu, I opted for the lamb roast dinner which was superb. We all received our meals together which was great considering we were such a large group, the staff were very friendly and attentive, some even managed a dessert after the the generous portions , we stayed for a few drinks after our meals and had a great afternoon/ evening Highly recommended and will definitely be returning as we have booked for Christmas Day dinner 👍

Called in for a drink and couldn't resist the food...delicious Sunday Roast with very impressive Yorkshire pudding. Followed by home baked Bakewell tart & custard. Popular place, Matt's a great host - even the dog got biscuits. All booked in for Christmas meal!

Me and my 8 year old son went to The Walkley cottage for Sunday dinner. The starters were so nice of pork belly pieces in hendoson relish sauce. My son had the battered prawns with sweet chilli sauce. He doesn't like sauce, so I had the sauce with the pork belly, which actually goes really nice together! My son is autistic and can be fussy with sauce on food. They were very patient and understanding of the questions he was asking, of if the sauce can be taken off or put on the side. After having our meal, my son said, I'm going to give this a 5 star review! A really nice Sunday dinner, which was also approved by my 8 year old! Nice atmosphere, with good music, and amazing food!

Not been here in years and popped in on the off-chance for a Sunday roast, and wow, we were not disappointed. Fantastic food and excellent service.

The Landlord, Matt, is very friendly and the staff are all helpful. I have been there several times for Sunday Roast, usually having the Chicken fillet option, and the food has always been excellent in my humble opinion.

Firstly I hate to leave negative reviews, as I appreciate the impact it can have. But I'm sorry, our experience today was totally unacceptable. We arrived at 3pm and the pub was empty except for some local workmen. And here's my first issue. Every other word was a swear word begining with a "F" or a "C", which in my opinion is totally unacceptable, and staff did nothing to address it, even though they could be heard through out the pub. Secondly, a pint of Heineken lager, and a medium glass of house rose', £10.25?! I'm sorry but that is by far the most expensive round I've come across in the local area, and is in no way justifiable! Thirdly, the food prices are extremely high, again compared to other pubs in the area. They were advertising a "special" Mexican evening at £35 per head. So that's £70 for a couple! I'm sure you could get much better value for money on Ecclesall Road! A quick glance at the basic menu confirms how expensive they are. In summary, I've not been in the Walkley Cottage for over a decade, and I certainly won't be back. If they wish to charge such exorbitant prices, they really need to up their game, charge more competitive prices. (and address all the foul language).

I didn't have any good but I had a pint of lime and lemonade which I found very expensive at £3.95 Nice decor inside and friendly staff. Very spacious and clean. Good location with a decent sized beer garden and carpark. Plenty on street parking too.
