Caffe Nero - Sheffield, High Street in Sheffield

My favourite Coffe Shop in town as always guaranteed a very warm welcome I must thank all the staff thank you. So thank you Becky, Magda, Amelia, Josh, Mia,, Fern, Shannon and Tianna.

I was a regular customer here spending 4 days a week. However the prices are now too expensive it’s appalling for a regular latte! The service is slow. The baristas are nice and polite but that’s just not enough. And what’s made my mind up even more is how dirty the place is. It’s untidy and literally filthy! And you get accosted by homeless beggars before you get in. Gone really downhill. Sorry I’ve found another alternative independent (clean and tidy)coffee shop. More bang for my buck and really nice lattes too. My advice? Pull your socks up Nero….I'm not the only one who’s commenting in general

Horrible place. I went there because everything else was closed. Mocha coffee you never want to taste. Avoid. Service lame.

Is a shame this coffew shop is surrounded by down and outs.. its so dirty outside the shop .. it feels very threatening on a friday late afternoon amd saturday afternoon

My all time favourite Nero location and go-to coffee shop. Staff are so so friendly and experts at their craft, my drinks always arrive swiftly and with a smile :) the interior is cozy, the music is calm and the company is exceptional. Silkiest milk in South Yorkshire, highly recommend!

I come here regularly and quite honestly THIS is the best store around. Always greeted with a smile and a lovely conversation, nothing is ever too much effort. Drinks arrive quickly and without an issue. The perfect place for a cosy curl up with a book. I have been to every coffee shop in town and this is my favourite by far. Side note the manager here is the best and deserves a pay rise......now

What else is there to say! ( Always a pleasure)

Of all the coffee chains, Nero wins hands down. Good coffee and food and friendly, efficient staff and a pleasing atmosphere in which to enjoy the fare. The coffee range for making at home is also ome of the best around, and cheaper than a lot of supermarket coffees!

I’m not one to leave bad reviews, but I decided to check out the ratings for this store after being a regular for the last four months or so. I thought it might just be me, but it seems a lot of people have pointed out similar issues that take place every single time i'm being served. The coffee is decent, yet the service at times can be stand offish, boarding on rude (without describing certain individuals). No smiles (not that that’s to be expected), no hello, no rapport or anything that keeps customers coming back (I have a discount hence my return visits). The staff barely say a thing to each other, let alone the customers. They all look like they’ve had to put down multiple dogs before their morning shifts, and clearly do not want to be there to the point where it’s glaringly obvious. I really do wonder what is going on behind the scenes. Apart from the lady with black hair and glasses, she’s ‘the friendly one’.

Surprisly, there is a place with a secret code to use the toilets, I think there is a tax to use it for this reason they minimise the toilet usage with a secret code

Nice surroundings, good service and atmosphere, and a nice cup of tea.

Stopped here around 12 months ago as I was in the vicinity on business, was not the slightest impressed with the service or the rude staff. Reluctantly I made a return visit this month as I was back on business, wow! What a turn around! The cleanliness, friendliness and attention to customers has vastly improved! I chose a Honey oat latte, served by a very patient little lady (curly hair and glasses) who had just defused an altercation with an abusive customer. She apologised for the delay and served me promptly and with a smile. Tables were cleaned immediately and each customer was greeted with a pleasantry and on leaving the same. It was quite busy during my visit but everyone was served and attended too promptly. Would I return? Of course.

Utterly Disgraceful And A Stain On The Name Of Caffè Nero. I have been to many Caffè Nero branches across the UK (and all of them are far superior to this one). I have noted (along with other customers) that even if you are a regular customer here this will not be valued in the least by certain perpetually miserable members of staff who 'work' in this place. For example, the ginger-haired female 'Barista' who works here is consistently rude, arrogant, ill mannered, unprofessional and miserable with a constant frown and scowl on their face. This 'Barista' has displayed appallingly bad customer service skills on numerous occasions. It would seem that this 'Barista' clearly does not enjoy working at Caffè Nero judging by the perpetually miserable expression on their face and their very rude and unprofessional demeanour. Any normal human being with even the most basic level of level of intelligence, would understand that regular customers should be valued and treated with courtesy and respect. Judging by the appalling attitude and disgraceful demeanour of this idiotic 'Barista', I can only conclude that this individual lacks basic intelligence. In addition to the awful customer service provided by some of the staff here, there are constant maintenance issues with this place e.g. toilets being unavailable, water leaking thorough the ceiling, lack of seating etc. Avoid this place as there are many far superior Cafés in Sheffield City Centre (including other branches of Caffè Nero).

By far the worst staff I've ever encountered, say good morning and no response ever ,its funny how rude they are ,1 member of staff from Lithuania I think is normal polite etc ,,seriously go in try it ,if it's open ,numerous times it doesn't open on time ,bo apology nothing ,,,great coffee utter garbage staff ,,and I mean trash void of character or manners ...

I come to this caffe nero regularly and the staff are always really welcoming and friendly. I enjoy the atmosphere and its a great place to sit and work. I would recommend the luxury caramelatte 😋

I noticed staff aren't following good hygiene standard grabbing cups from inside with bare hands cutlery not washed

Decidedly average. Needs some tlc and a bit of a clean. Dirty pots left on tables. Only one member of staff serving so quite a wait for service. Atmosphere a little flat and cool. Overall very average.

Very pleasant experience this morning, went in for a hot chocolate before work. Got served by Tianna who was very helpful and listened to what I wanted all with a cherry smile on their face 😁

So had a meeting I needed to log onto, saw a Cafe Nero, thought that would be ideal. But the customer service you kind of expect from a coffee shop just wasn't there, it was too blunt, not warm, made customers feel embarrassed. I tried to pay by contactless, it obviously didn't go through properly, so as I was setting up my laptop, she called me back to put my card in. Absolutely fine to do, it just felt accusatory, but hey I haven't paid properly so fair enough even if it was a mistake. As it happened an elderly disabled couple were sat near me, the barista brought over a drink, the woman said they ordered two fumbling with a receipt, the husband in the loo who probably ordered, the barista was sharp with her too saying that only one was ordered and the receipt was for elsewhere. When the husband came back it was cleared up, and another drink was ordered. The women then got up on crutches to pay for the drink, despite her husband telling her to sit down it's ok, but she said she wanted to pay herself. Looked a touch upset, they had a private discussion about the encounter that I won't recount and they both left very quickly. The barista was correct both times about payment, but I just felt like a different approach could of been taken, and with a better attitude towards service. No harm was meant by the customers. Similar reviews also showing rudeness, and by description it's the same person. And to top it off alas the drink was super bitter because I'm an idiot who didn't know what a machiato was like and wanted to try and the cafe was too loud with the machines and work outside to contribute to my call 🤣🤦 so probably pop elsewhere next time.

Absolutely shocking that the toilets have been out of order since the beginning of July. There's no excuse and it's appalling customer service. I'm writing this at the end of the first week of October! Sort it out!

The place needs some upgrading ,most of the chairs are very old specially the sofa like ones!!!! The lady serving today is so cold ,no smile what so ever !!!??? This'nt the first time it's normal for her to work behind the bar with a such stoned face !!!!!!! It annoys me when ever I come here and she's on ....... She doesn't have a clue about customer service????It's Thursday the 21st /09/23 around 4 pm in Sheffield city centre next to Boots fargate .

Dark and dingy! Coffee was OK and Service friendly. Can't imagine we will go again.

I had a latte and a Danish which they were both nice. The place is quite roomy and well decorated. Staff were friendly.

Honestly, the WORST hospitality experience i have ever experienced, i work in hospitality myself so this was shocking to me. The blonde lady with glasses had made me aware my drinks were waiting for me on the side while she was serving an elderly couple, as i pick them up the frappe pours all over my phone and all over the floor because the lid wasn’t put on properly. Which isn’t a huge deal but when I asked her if i could have some blue roll to get the frappe off my phone, she started getting extremely snappy and rude to me and the elderly couple. Telling them to go sit down and that they’ve already paid, clearly the man was confused and the way this barista was talking to him and his wife was abhorrent. at this point she was stood holding the blue roll so i gestured towards the bunch in her hand and asked if i could have it please, to which she snapped at me and told me i don’t need it, i explained about my phone and took the blue roll. I understand working in these scenarios can be stressful, i’ve been there, accidents happen, but it’s never justifiable to speak to the elderly, or any vulnerable person, the way she spoke to those two today. extremely disgraceful. would also like to add that she seemed to be training another member of staff, i’d be embarrassed if any of my team spoke that way towards elderly and vulnerable people, i hope the trainee doesn’t follow in her footsteps.

Nice café but rude staff with little common sense.

Just had the worst experience here with two female baristas. Beyond rude and frosty for no reason because I got a stamp on my loyalty card. Have been coming here at least once a week for 14 months and never had this experience. Need some training in basic manners.

The worst Cafe Nero I’ve ever visited. Staff working at a snail’s pace, chatting and joking while we waited to get served. Then they utterly flipped when it started raining because someone outside stood in the doorway. Totally over the top reaction. Everyone inside looked as gobsmacked as me. Food wasn’t great but I probably chose badly. Coffee was fine.

Chairs could do with being refurbished as many are badly cracked. Service can be a bit slow. To use the ladies, you have to ask a member of staff to release ,as they are coded.

Staff is nice and friendly. Service is fast.

Tables dirty , wife said the ladies toilets were dirty also. The serving counter was that sticky the tray with the coffees on stuck. Staff when told did not seem bothered. Not up to NERO usual standards.

Tasty coffee and hot food are available. Staff very friendly and efficient. Best use public transport as parking is not close by.

Nero Cathedral Sheffield was very dirty both in the coffee serving area, toilets and in the area for washing glasses and cups.

Served quickly considering how busy it was, managed to get a seat. Decent coffee and overall experience.

Great place to.pop in for a coffee and nice range of cakes. sandwiches . Comfy sofas and bucket chairs . Coffee sandwiches and cake to go if you fancy a coffee on the go.

Staple option for those who look for a vibrant, reliable, coffee shop. I ve been coming here for years, very happy with the service. It often get quite busy, but almost always there will be seating available. On weekends it get quite crowdy loud with big groups of people, but it also attracts a students/remote workers.

Lovely coffee and excellent teacakes. Visited on 16th January before work and the staff were very helpful and smiley.

If you have three network you can get any fmdeink for a quid 👍

Great friendly professional service

I’m a regular customer that went in for a coffee today and got served by this lovely lady. Whilst she was making the coffee, there was another lady with ginger hair and a ponytail who was behind the bar so I took my chance to ask about a muffin and she rudely shouted “ IM NOT SERVING YOU, MY COLLEAGUE IS” the lady who served me saw how she shouted at me and asked politely what I wanted, obviously I was quite disappointed at the Ginger’s customer service so I just left it. Don’t think I want to be a regular customer anymore.

The toilets aren't accessible you need to ask a code to the staff and that code sometimes doesn't work so you to wait for someone to open for you. Horrible.

The cafe is nice, but when I asked for a decaf cappuccino, I received the cup and started drinking it, but I was surprised that there was a napkin or paper inside the drink.. so I took it to one of the staff and he apologised and suggested giving me a new cup which i didn't want. He did not suggest refunding.. but it did not happen like this before, as this was probably my third visit that I got the problem

I've left writing this review for a while because the mocha I had wasn't the best - just ok. It wasn't as sweet as I'm used to - that may be a good thing! But the staff were friendly and helpful, the interior was nicely decorated and clean. It was a Sunday morning around 9am so quite quiet.

Very nasty and rude members of staff, particularly the Italian man, who looks at me as though I’m dog dirt on the street. He knows nothing about me other than what certain people have said about me. I know who they are, and the most entertaining thing, is that I know, that they know that I know who they are

Just wanted to compliment two members of staff who were/ are present at this cafe Nero and served me today (29/08/2022) I came to order Peppermint Tea (to-go) and the two Shots (Turmeric & Ginger) and their service was outstanding. Firstly, I came across Macek, who has served me in about 3 to 4 occasions in total, spread throughout this year. He’s always courteous, polite and just really well-mannered. He sports glasses, is fairly tall and looks a little like Harry Potter, if that’s the best way to describe him. Anyway, he truly understands Customer Service and if anyone was to be promoted to a supervisor or manager position in future, I’d gladly drop a review on him seperately. Secondly, despite being served just the first time today by the second person, I’d like to drop a review for the manager Tania. She was very sweet, courteous and explained the cafe Nero app to me in explicit detail. Like she doesn’t just know how to run the shop floor but is highly knowledgeable about the cafe Nero points app and also very polite. I generally find the staff to be friendly at this cafe Nero in particular but seriously, hats off to Macek and Tania (the manager). Cafe Nero should hands-down promote these two to higher positions if they ever wanted to, based on both their politeness and knowledge about customer service ✨👏🏼

Clearly not enough staff being hired as they were really busy, with not enough time to put out extra sugar/clear tables etc. Sort out your staffing Caffe Nero!

Nice coffee shop. Went in for their new pistachio iced latte. Did have some sweetness to it. They have a loyalty stamp system too which is good. It's not my usual coffee shop but I would go back

Yet another pleasant and attractively set out Caffè Nero right in the centre of Sheffield and alongside a large Boots, set among other well-known retailers, banks and building societies. A mixture of armchairs and hard seating is provided with toilets and plenty of room to choose where you want to be. Staff are helpful and the coffee is great!

When that old lady was sitting down with her trolley back inside the cafe one of you staff was very nice and helpful by taking the blue tray with her hot drink were the lady was sitting down that was brilliant customer service I’ve ever seen and I saw everything.

I am not usually one for the larger Coffee enterprises, but this Nero was well laid out and has a good selection of snacks.

Some inconsistencies in cost. Got breakfast 3 days in a row one day £16.50 next day £17.45 even though we got the same things. Staff are polite and helpful food is great and so is the coffee. The location is perfect and the interior is very cozy.

Staff are lovely and love the atmosphere, weird inconsistency with pricing sometimes but the coffee slaps.

Love this place everything is not rushed like Costa or Starbucks staff are spot nice and cheap to say that the coffee is high quality

Ordered a caramel latte that tasted burnt. Long queue at tills so couldn't be bothered to wait and take it back. Seems like they needed more staff as tables dirty.

Definitely a treat because of the prices but the food is good and they allow dogs.

Founded in 1997 with 5 shops in London, Caffè Nero has over 1,000 outlets in the UK. We always enjoy our coffee here. Good to hear that Caffè Nero was one of the first to commit to paper straws in 2018. On our visit on 01-Dec around 4pm, our refreshments were excellent and the Caffè Team went the extra mile, checking the gluten index on purchases and also, enabling a loyalty card. Thank you guys. There was a minor issue with the restroom that was acceptable, but not excellent - it is difficult at the end the working day to maintain 100% cleanliness. If all customers left it as found, the Caffè Team's job would be easier!

We had coffee and hot chocolate which was fine if expensive. Disappointed that the gents toilets were out of order and the others patrolled regularly. If we're paying so much for a coffee, you'd think the least they could do is provide a toilet...

Arrived at 2.55PM on Saturday afternoon and was told " we are closing ", no explanation, no sorry, nothing, I will not be returning to this Cafe Nero, I have points on my card which I will use elsewhere.

They make the best flat white anywhere I think. I had the yogurt, fruit and granola, very yummy. Staff are quick and pleasant.
