The Bessemer in Sheffield

Just been in the Bessemer to redeem my voucher from Strongbow and the barmaid hadn't got a clue what it was. I'd left it till I visited to activate the voucher in case there was a time limit on it. After calling the manager over who was about as much use as a chocolate fireguard I handed my phone to the barmaid because I was swiping and nothing was happening. She swiped and a code was revealed but instead of entering the code into the till she swiped back and then forwards again whereupon it said the coupon had already been used. It hadn't.

Great value food and brilliant service

1st time I've been In here. Private party. Enjoyable.

Somos un grupo de señoras que entraron a tomar unas copas pero luego decidieron comer allí. La comida y las bebidas eran muy razonables y buena relación calidad-precio. Chloe y Charlotte eran tan educados, amables y serviciales. Nada era demasiado problema.

Only had drinks, but a good pub

OK pub, but even by UK standards the food is less than mediocre. Had the Cumberland sausage (dry and shriveled) and potatoes (instant and equally dried out)

Music is always far too loud. Sick of shouting to try and talk to people

Love this place on a weekend, always has a good atmosphere, especially when me dad comes booming over on the speakers, abit of Billy ocean and you can't go wrong.

Visiting Sheffield, went in here for food on 18th Mar 25 about Teatime. Chap and young lady behind bar very friendly and Informative on local area. Burger was good and Guiness went down well. Thanks guys keep up the good work.

Vine con mi esposa y mis hijos para un almuerzo de la tarde en mi cumpleaños. Tuve un tiempo maravilloso servido por la encantadora Charlotte y Chloe que estaba más que feliz de dejar un comentario para cada solicitud. Su servicio fue estelar y hicieron que mi familia se sintiera muy acomodada. Tuvimos un par de bocadillos del menú de platos pequeños que estaban divinos y muy bien cocinados. Me sorprendió la cantidad de opciones que había para mis nietos, que pueden ser muy exigentes con lo que comen y beben! Un tiempo maravilloso y con gusto volveré a visitar pronto.

Buena comida, con un tamaño de porción adecuado. Personal amable y mesas limpias. Con una buena música de ambiente a un buen nivel, fue una buena experiencia. ¿Qué más se puede pedir?

I’ve been in a few times and the place is always warm and welcoming! On my first visit, I was served by Amy, who was incredibly friendly and suggested some fantastic two-for-one drink deals. I was able to get two double gin and tonics that tasted great and were really good value. Highly recommend, definitely a place to return to!

Came here for lunch today whilst visiting Sheffield City Centre with family. They were advertising a 2 Dine for £20 offer. This was very good value as you get 2 meals and either a starter or a dessert AND a drink for £20! The pub is lovely and the staff were very friendly. Food was excellent and served very quickly even during a busy lunchtime. We will be back next time we are in town!

Fancied a cheeky john smiths while watching the blades, got to love them Heineken scratchies, didn't win out but most gamblers quit before they win big. Got served the lovely Chloe and some lanky fellow, was a quality night for me, served by class people in a great boozer, would recommend if you ever fancy a cheeky magnet for a great price

Went to Bessemer today for a family meal, the pub is lovely and warm and the staff were very friendly. They were very helpful with finding us a table and brought us high chairs and menus for the kids. The food was great and very good value! We had the 2 Dine for £20 menu and the kids had a meal and free dessert! Will be back soon!

Not for me but enjoyed it with friends

I have just been charged £4.65 for a pint of Strongbow in the Bessemer and I can't remember the exact price last time I went in before Christmas but I'm as sure as I can be that it was way more than a £ less. Way more £3.30 maybe? I queried it with the barman. Said it was correct. I feel like I've had my pocket picked. Never going in again.

Not reviewing food coz didn't eat. Went in on Sunday and you need to renovate your toilets they stink and the stairs down to them are filthy. Also none of the hot water taps were working! All the money must make in a weekend surely can afford to refurb toilets. Obv think coz a party pub doesn't matter but puts people off

Went for a christas dinner , was absolutely shocking , most of us left it as it was that bad , 2 rock hard roast potatoes and dont even get me started on the parsnips , christmas pudding was 3” square , do not bother , £20 ill never get back

Overpriced , not enough staff , too.many let in to feel safe , Music is the best thing . Big flights of stairs to the toilets , which were disgusting, floors wet through , smelt no loo paper and no hot water ... jeeze never again !!!

Went with a mate before a gig. Food was fast but cooked properly. Service was friendly. Drinks fair on price. Would deffo recommend and return.

Llegó la hora del almuerzo y se quedó hasta las 8 pm , fantástica broma con Charlotte, Heather , Callum y el personal , algo tristemente perdido en la mayoría de los lugares en estos días . Gran comida, ambiente y servicio de primera categoría. Incluso llamó después de tocar por uno rápido. Sigue con el buen trabajo.

Food was brilliant today and so was the Guinness, very much recommend coming here if you live or are coming to Sheffield for the day. Great to see the GM Stuart working and being very hands on in his pub as well

What a dirty place this is, toilets are dirty and smelly, flushes don't work in most of the ladies toilet, taps broken on wash hand basins and You Serve FOOD, I THINK ENVIROMENTAL HEALTH NEED TO DO A VISIT

Organizó una pequeña reunión para amigos que van a Australia. Charlotte y el equipo hicieron un gran trabajo. El buffet realmente golpeó el punto. Gracias por un gran día.

Apareció para un almuerzo rápido, grandes ofertas, se las arregló para conseguir la patata chaqueta de pollo barbacoa por solo £ 6. 50 que fue una sorpresa encantadora, muy sabroso y lleno. El personal era muy agradable y el lugar muy limpio y ordenado. Sin duda recomendaría a otros e ir de nuevo.

Great pub! Amazing selection of local cask ales to choose from... Moonshine is an absolute favourite of mine! Will be back again soon.

Don't know what music they play all the time but I've been in on a few Saturdays recently and it's been all 70s and 80s....just classic tune after classic tune....people dancing everywhere...Great atmosphere....generally an older crowd ....great night if you love that type of music

Constantine and Lee made our night. Rocked in at 8pm on a Weds and we all knew working in hospitality how annoying that can be. Welcomed us. No dramas and were served food and drinks with a smile. The burgers we ordered were brilliant. Mac n cheese burger is a massive hit. That’s how to look after the mid week drinkers on an impromptu works night out.

Called in midweek and got a really good deal which was 2 courses for 2 people including a drink each for a total of £20. Went to bar and ordered giving our table number, we both opted for the burger and chips, then a dessert of sticky toffee pudding with this we upgraded our drinks for £1.50 each for an absolut vodka and Schweppes tonic. Food basic but nice and what a bargain.

Excellent both service and food. Would definitely recommend as a place to go . Been back today, can't have same enthusiasm as before, ladies toilets were very dirty, flushes didn't work, hot and cold taps mixed up! Childrens food didn't look appetising, but very pleasant staff.

Came for food and drinks with family had a really enjoyable time food was spot on service was really good and my parents really enjoyed the music

Always had a great time here, the atmosphere is great especially on the weekend with the DJs. The pool table is decent and cheap along with dart boards. The food and more importantly the drinks are cheap too! I’ve never had an issue with the service too especially with heather behind the bar. All in all a great place to go on a night out.

I recently visited this pub and had a pleasant experience. The interior is very lovely, creating a charming and inviting atmosphere. The level of service was good, with attentive and friendly staff making sure we had everything we needed. I went when it was very quiet, which was a nice change and made for a relaxing visit. Overall, it's a great spot to unwind and enjoy a drink in a cozy setting. I look forward to returning and would recommend it to others looking for a peaceful pub experience.

Came in here on a work leavers do. Plays 60s 70s 80s 90s 00s music. Is definitely more for the older generation, but it's not actually too bad. We had a good time

Booked the private area upstairs for a hen party. Lovely area. Only down side was the heat it was really hot to the point most guests left to go elsewhere. Guests were sweating it was that hot fanning ourselves with the menus the bartender provided! We did ask the bouncer and the bartender to switch on the air con multiple times. At first was told doesn't work or not very good. Asked for a fan as was multiple downstairs, never got one. Then was told by the bartender she didn't know how to do the air con as never worked upstairs and would have to ask the manager. This never happened the remaining Guests spent most of the time outside due to unbearable heat upstairs. Other than that the night was enjoyable I would consider booking in future if heat wasn't an issue.

Food okay. I reported to the manager that the disabled toilet had no toilet seat attached. He came out with what looked like a new toilet seat, but kept going back to serve folk. There were no queues and I wondered how long he was going to be. He had said a moment. Ha! He still hadn't replaced the seat when we left and I'm a disabled lady sat waiting for the toilet 🚽 unforgivable!

Mid week and the students were drifting away as end of term, but the place itself looks like it could be a destination for football during any big competition. The food was decent, and the staff were ace. Will be back when back in Sheffield with work.

This review is only for the food, pub and service were excellent however the food was a big disappointment. The fish was extremely poor compared to fish had in other places. They managed to mix up the peas on just two dishes, ok I can let that go if only the fish was decent, which it was not. Wetherspoon's was much better and cheaper! No need to say we shall not be having food in The Bessemer again.

food was all right but seems service staff treated customers like an inconvenience to them. stood at the door for few minutes when the lady staff at the bar saw us but ignored. when i went up to the bar, she said its self seating. sure, but at least should have yelled to inform or put up a sign. when asked to cut burger in half, was told they'll just give a knife - only other restaurant i heard this is McDonald's. the burger was ok, came with double patties and can double fries for 1.5 pounds. price was ok.

Great night out, went in Saturday night and Archie was a great barman! Proper sound lad. Went Sunday for the football and Andrew was class too.

I went here on a date, the girl who served me was great, we was sat down at a table and Charlotte I think her name was couldn’t do enough for us. She recommended us starters and mains (we had so much food). She checked my allergies and got them right, I’m gluten-free! And she assisted me with my food! I had a really good time, can you pass my comments on to the staff. We are now on our 3rd date hehe x

Went here this Friday and Saturday night with my best mate after a coming up for the weekend for a session of World Championship Snooker at the Crucible. What an absolutely barn-storming top gaff it is! Music was mostly a mix of 70s - 90s, right up my street. Loud and cool. Full of the friendliest people you'll ever meet just dancing away and having a great time. Plenty of staff behind the bar, so even though it seems chocker, it was never too long getting served. Some proper characters in there, real mix of people, but I say characters in the positive way - not the dodgy, lairy way. We talked to a gent in his 80s who has just heroic, some West Brom fans up for the footy who were sound. 2 fellas wearing Shaun Murphy masks. Drink prices standard for these days. All in all, a legend of a place with a legendary atmosphere. Will 100% be popping back if we visit Sheffield again, a place to make your city proud that. To be fair, I'd never been to Sheffield before and I've never been met by such friendly people anywhere else. Everyone was absolutely top. Max respect to Sheffield.

Lovely place and good food. Perfect for a night out with friends.

We once went in and the music was really loud but this time, it was fantastic. The food was not the cheapest but the quality was amazing. Very tasty.

My friend fell down the stairs last Tuesday from top to bottom,, a guy asked if she was ok,, there was no 1st aid person and didn't have an accident book to right it in all he did was write my friends name on a bit of paper with her mobile,, no body has called her to see if she is ok or anything which I think is disgusting 😡 she is covered in bruises and in a lot of pain, they was no help at all 😤

We had a midweek wedding reception in the upstairs area. Charlotte was great throughout and very responsive to emails which helped with the planning/organising. She was also happy for us to reorganise the tables and provide our own decorations. The buffet was great and good value for money. It was a quieter atmosphere to what you may have a the weekend, but this fit in perfectly with what we wanted. All the staff were friendly and helpful throughout the day, adding to a perfect day for us!
