So disappointing , such a beautiful venue and great for kids to play in the play area but .. slow service and not the first time waited 20 mins for our drinks which was a bottle of cider and a can of lemon Fanta , waited 50 mins for our lunch which was a jacket potato and fish and chips and a kids meal . When arrived jacket was cold , the fish and chips were a bag of frozen chunky chips not cooked all the way through and the fish was just a frozen fish fillet was expecting something fresh and worth the money . Kids meal was cold but he still ate it as it didn’t bother him . Waited 10 mins for his ice cream still hadn’t came so we just left . Did go in to talk to someone but the chef was there waving his hands saying this is f-ing ridiculous and the two girls on the till were so young looked like they was still training so we just left.

Fabulous late breakfast, didn't book so was delighted to get in, for late breakfast. Emma and the team made us welcome, the full English breakfast was excellent, vegan daughter asked for something not on menu and no problems. Drinks especially the Bailey's hot chocolate just lovely. Really full really happy. Thank you Clifton kitchen lounge cafe.

Such potential! The most lovely place on the side of a canal. The food was not great. A bit unhomemade! My big issue was the place was pretty empty with lots of staff, but no one seemed remotely interested in us. We had to interrupt them to find us a table. If they upped their game we would definitely be back.

4 of us drove from Sheffield and met up with family for lunch. Some friends of theirs had recommended The Lounge, Kitchen & Bar. To be honest, I wish they hadn't. There was a choice of 3 starters - camembert, soup of the day or a third option, which escapes me. The waitress didn't know what the soup of the day was, but went to find out and said it was 'mushroom with cream'. As it was Sunday, only roast dinners were available: chicken or beef with the usual accompaniments. I ordered camembert and then the roast chicken dinner. My husband had the soup (cream of mushroom) and the roast beef. Our other diners had various other meals which I cannot comment on as everyone was too polite to say what they thought, which is often the case when one person is taking everyone for lunch. My camembert was edible. It was served with a spoonful of chutney from a jar and a bread roll from a packet of rolls, available from local shops to be reheated at home. My chicken dinner was not edible. The chicken was appalling, tough, microwaved and cold. The food had been thrown onto the plate and everything was tasteless and again, cold. The waitresses were doing their best but struggled with remembering orders and cutlery so I don't feel were up to facing criticism. My husband's meal was similar to mine - soup ok, beef dinner shocking. The chef (and I use the term lightly) should be ashamed of him or herself for serving food like that. We left, my husband £210 worse off and he was kind enough to pass me some Rennie's on the journey home.

We visited on the off chance of finding somewhere new for brunch. What a lovely place. The staff were welcoming and the breakfast was great. Thank you for a lovely start to our day. We will be returning!

We've been here a few times. Food is always good and a reasonable price in the day or evening. This time it was for lunch and we had sandwiches which were really good and nicely served. The hot honey halloumi and avacado sandwich was to die for. We had hot chocolate (yes I know we shouldn't have needed it in June) It was a good sized mug and piping hot and good quality too. Far nicer than Costa. They are dog friendly although we chose to sit outside next to the canal. Its really relaxing. The evenings are good too. They have music some nights with a special menu. Always worth a look at.

I have been wanting to visit here for ages. So decided to go today. Walked up to the counter and asked if they were serving food. No. Abrupt and not very helpful and went about what ever he was doing. So we turned to walk away as I didn’t know if it was shut, we could still get a drink or what was on offer. A young waitress tried to intervene and asked if she could help. But the male member of staff had made us decide this wasn’t the place for us to spend our money. Maybe a smile and welcome would have made us stay. Won’t ever come back.

Have visited The Lounge several times previously, mainly during the summer when we stopped for a drink while out walking - nice place to sit outside and watch the boats going by. However, today’s visit can only be described as a shambles! We visited with a group of friends (11 of us in total) and we all ordered separately. I ordered a diet Coke and a slice of cake, and my husband ordered a pot of tea for one and a bacon sandwich. We paid at the time of ordering and the server asked if we wanted a receipt - I said yes and it’s a good thing I did! After about 15 minutes, the waitress came and said there was no diet Coke - this seemed a long time for them to realise they had none in stock. I ordered a Pepsi Max instead but this didn’t taste very nice as it was completely flat - I can’t comment any further on this as I couldn’t be bothered to mention it. They started bringing the various food and drinks that had been ordered, but the server didn’t seem to know what the drinks were (for example, one person ordered a coffee latte and another ordered a coffee latte with caramel but the server didn’t know which was the one with caramel). Several of the drinks and some of the food didn’t arrive at all and despite the servers coming to the table several times to check what we were waiting for, they still didn’t seem to know what had been ordered. At one point, after we’d been there for about 30 minutes, a lady who I assume was the manager came over to ask what was missing - my husband was still waiting for his tea and his sandwich, and another of our party was also waiting for a sandwich. She brought over our friend’s sandwich and said my husband’s tea/sandwich was on its way. After waiting for 50 minutes, there was still no sign of my husband’s tea or sandwich so we had to ask for a refund as we needed to leave to visit family. They asked for the receipt and then refunded us for the tea/sandwich - they did apologise which was fair enough. We felt sorry for the servers as it seemed like they hadn’t received proper training - they were pleasant but the way the food/drinks were served was chaotic! On the plus side, my cake was very nice but based on today’s experience, I don’t think we’ll be going back.

Used to go here quite regular and food was reasonable, have not been able to visit recently due to impossible to walk safely as car park flooded and muddy. Anyway after drying out a bit decided to have lunch. Ordered a Beef Burger and Chicken Burger, was delivered on a plank of wood( not very hygienic) only just managed to fit food on. Requested plates but was refused. Chicken was not a burger but a lump of chicken over cooked (Burnt) Beef under cooked. Accompanied by some rabbit food and small basket of McDonalds style chips. no room to empty chips so ate from basket. All for a price of £36.80. The ambiance is ordinary café not upmarket Lounge and Kitchen

Never ever go to this Costa, it is beyond appalling; it is so disgusting, I'm struggling to put into words, my experience today. My husband and I popped along with my wheelchair-bound 91-year-old mother, for a little light lunch. We arrived at around 1:30 pm on Sunday 23rd of March 2025, to find the place surprisingly quiet. Given that it was a Sunday lunchtime, I would have expected the place to be alive with families and couples. We had in fact tried to find a table at the Lutterworth Costa, but it was so full, with no sitting room, we came along to this branch, hoping they would be able to squeeze us in. There were 3 members of staff on duty (2 young ladies and a young man), and only about 6 or 7 occupied tables, including us. We ordered 3 drinks and 2 toasted sandwiches and a toasted croissant. The food came quickly enough and was pleasant. After my mother had eaten half of her sandwich, she indicated she needed to go to the lavatory, and as she is in a wheelchair, I have to help her out with these things. We got up, and as I was heading towards the lavatories, the young man on duty, jumped ahead of us and said sheepishly, "I just need to check if they are clean". As it was so quiet, and there were 3 members of staff on duty, I was a bit surprised that this needed checking on first, but I just assumed he was being super-diligent. He turned back to us looking embarrassed, and I said "is it dirty?", to which he responded "yes" and then "lucky me". He walked to a nearby cupboard, collected a dustpan and brush, went ahead of us again, spent literally 10 seconds sweeping something from the floor, and then moved back to allow us to access. I pushed my mother's wheelchair in to, what can only be described as, the most disgusting public lavatory I've seen, in my 60 years of living. It sounds like it must be exaggerating doesn't it (so dramatic!) - but not only were the scraps of paper all over the floor, so much worse than that, there was urine everywhere. I don't just mean a little drop or two on the seat where somebody had not been careful, I mean the floor was literally swimming in urine, the toilet seat was covered in urine, the lavatory bowl had urine in it with no toilet paper, it was quite literally, like somebody had embarked on a highly successful 'dirty protest'. Now, as if this was not enough, the fact that this young man had seen the appalling mess, he clearly must've known what it was like, which is why he jumped ahead of me to "check", but then to think that it was acceptable for me to not only to walk into that disgusting room, but allow my 91-year-old disabled mother to sit on a toilet seat covered in urine, almost left me speechless with outrage. How dare you treat your paying customers with such disrespect, moreover, how dare you treat any other human being with such disrespect? It is unforgivable. There is no world in which I would allow anybody to be subjected to such a monstrous, nauseating experience, and the management at this specific Costa, should be either, immediately dismissed, or sent away on a course, to teach them the fundamental rights of human beings, and particularly how that relates in a hospitality setting. Surely, it is simple? Would you sit on a toilet covered in urine, while your feet sat in puddles of urine? Would you allow your 91-year-old disabled mother, or grandmother, to sit her behind on a urine covered toilet seat, while the wheels of her wheelchair wallowed in urine? You were not busy. When you opened up that morning, either, nobody bothered to look at the lavatories (not acceptable), or worse, looked at the lavatories, and could not be bothered to do anything about them (disgraceful). I would like to be charitable and think you just hadn't been aware of it, but you absolutely had, and had CHOSEN not to remedy this... otherwise, why did the young man jump in front of me, to ostensibly "check" the lavatories? We could not even use an alternative lavatory, because the only other available facilities had a huge hole in the door, and you could see right through to the toilet itself; making it "out of use". How can you think this is acceptable? I will be telling everybody I know, to avoid this abysmal excuse for a Costa, like the plague - lest they literally, catch some ungodly disease. Not only that, but why should ANYBODY come to visit you, when you, clearly, care nothing for your customers comfort, dignity and well-being? I don't imagine anything will be done about this, because your management cares nothing for the appalling experiences you subject your customers to; looking through your reviews, the disgusting state of your lavatories has been mentioned more than once, so you clearly read our comments and cheerfully ignore them; nobody takes it seriously, nobody remedies it, and there is nobody in 'management' who understands or cares one iota, about your guests' comfort. So I say again, why would anybody visit you, when there are so many other Costas, that do a great job? Rugby has a few Costas if I recall correctly, doesn't it? This place should be closed down, and the staff should find jobs elsewhere, not in hospitality! This is not a complex subject, even in the grottiest motorway service station, there's a piece of A4 paper stuck to the wall with times and 'checked' signatures... this is not beyond the wit of anybody with an IQ >50, so why can't you do this, bare minimum? I will not leave it here, I will contact your CEO and upper management, somebody needs to address this, otherwise you will absolutely have close, because customers are simply not going accept these abysmal standards, ad infinitum. Shame on you all, what an utterly disgraceful job you're doing. Next time you go and see a loved one, particularly a frail, elderly one, ask yourself if you would be perfectly happy for them to have to sit in somebody else's urine.
