We visited at the end of September, the food was pleasant enough although service slow. Decided to visit again a week later and waited 50 minutes for a 3 ingredient side salad and a simple pasta dish. Both occasions resulted in receipt of £100 fines for parking on the premises yet at no time did staff or signage alert us to the need to register our vehicle. This is so careless on the staff's behalf, and has resulted in locals deciding not to use the venue - nobody would willingly add £100 to their light-lunch bill nor go through the hassle of appealing fines simply because staff can't be bothered to advise visitors. Alas, I have 2 fines (£200) on appeal and I am presently awaiting the outcome. No plans to visit again - why would I?

Attended here for a 3 day business conference. Suzie looked after us for conference activities and coordinated everything.. She was fantastic and corrected any small logistical challenges that are to be expected with a large group event with a smile and efficiency. The other teams including bar staff were friendly and attentive and again, accommodating of a lively (sometimes noisy) event with grace and flair. The venue is f a high standard and great facilities. Highly recommend the entire experience.

Stayed at hotel and had a bar lunch at the hotel. Brie / balsamic chibatta. Excellent taste. Reasonable value for money in this environment. Atmosphere totally let down by staff 1). Staff behind bar too busy setting up to serve customers-I stood at bar for over 5 minutes whilst staff tended to glasses etc. 2). Staff transferring items from restaurant to kitchen through bar area squeezing Behring guests sitting in lounge. 3). Noise in setting up. This could have been much more enjoyable an experience if staff were appropriately trained in respecting guests and their environment.

Comfortable stay in this nice hotel in lovely setting. Regular visitor but well disappointed with cost of stay and chaotic breakfast as over run with wedding guests so spongy scrambled eggs over cooked Fryed eggs food stock running out, coffee machines not working had to kill for a coffee poor staff run off their feet and reception indifferent to our experience. Will think twice as you can stay at the Congresbury Hotel for £75 inc breakfast and wonderful restaurant offering.

Celebrated 3 family members birthdays with afternoon tea in the garden room. Pleasant staff seated us. Sandwiches were plentiful and a good variety, scones were warm, lovely, but the other cakes were all based on cream and rather large for afternoon tea. Little tartlets would have been welcomed. But beware they put 10% service charge onto the final bill, with no option to opt out unless you verbally request it to be removed which can be embarrassing. Thought the bottle of Prosecco at £39 was a little steep, but it is a Hotel!

My friends and I attended a Grease and Dirty Dancing cabaret night at the hotel, followed by breakfast in the restaurant the next day. My friend had liaised with the hotel to dress the table with decorations and to bring out a birthday cake. Whilst the restaurant was busy and there was a slight delay the staff were very attentive and offered us bucks fizz whilst we waited (added to the celebration). Friendly service from the Duty Managers and Angie and Roy, who show that age has no barriers when it comes to long and loyal service.

Arrived at 8 on Saturday evening. Given the usual quite tatty menus and told that they had sold out of some items. Waiter went to kitchen to check availability, and came back with a list of about 8 things they didn't have. These even included the basis such as chips and mashed potatoes! Can't comment on the quality of the food because we left at that point.... Have to add that waiter far more interested in watching the football than doing his job. The Lounge is about to be refitted and rebranded which is good, as at the moment it lets Cadbury down.

Let's face it, you can't miss the guy as you enter the place and I have great respect for the chef. But like so many celebrity chefs, it is really hard to keep your standards, quality and ethos in anywhere they are are not 'resident' We decided on the lounge for its relaxed yet posh atmosphere, during our stay for a meal and a glass of wine or two whilst preparing for a presentation. First impressions, as grumpy customers shuffled at the bar to order drinks and food is that this place is not as slick as the advertising makes out. I ordered the steak at the bar (£30) yes £30!!! at a bar, which turned out to be fair one of the best I had in a while, but it took ages to arrive as busy bar struggled to sort out a second glass of wine too. Meanwhile, another putter went off the deep end after waiting an age only for someone to be served first by someone who arrived. This in restaurant terms means that the 'ambience' was ruined... Expensive. Good food. But the service way below par....If the lounge is like this then I am glad we did not fork out top dollar for the restaurant?!

In summary:Although the restaurant was very quiet, the service from the kitchen was very slow - about an hour for the main courses. The food was generally bland across the variety we ordered. In particular the chicken used in both adult main courses was tough and chewy. The pan fried chicken breast with sautéed potatoes, broccoli and Stilton sauce was a disaster. Chewy chicken, hard broccoli, half boiled / half fried potatoes and gloopy sauce. With so much choice about, we made the wrong one, which is a shame.

I had afternoon tea with my friend using a Groupon deal. People have complained about the 'non homemade' cakes, but regardless of them not being homemade they were tasty and fresh. My only issue with these were that they were tiny, and there was only one of each variety (4 spite sized cakes in total) therefore my friend and I had to cut the very small cakes in half so that we could try each one. However there was two of each sandwich filling and two scones, which was lovely. The waiter was extremely pleasant and greeted us as soon as we entered the Lounge. The other occupants were mainly eating afternoon tea and appeared to enjoy it. We asked for another coffee and tea and were advised that we'd have to pay extra for these, which is fine (however I have noted on previous reviews that others were given this as part of the afternoon tea deal) I would definitely eat here again, although I don't think I'd pay full price for the afternoon tea. £7 per head was excellent value though!

We booked for 9 people including 2 children and, our table was all laid up and reserved for us upon arrival. We had a window location which was really nice - this restaurant is 1st floor. An elevator provided easier access than the stairs for one of our party. Throughout the 2 hour plus sitting the waiter service from both Murray and Jamie was attentive, responsive and friendly. Our drinks and meals were brought without delay. Both the beef and chicken were delicious. I personally found that the beef was tasty, easy to cut and melted in my mouth. Portion sizes were generous too. All vegetables were tasty and, the carrot swede mash was specifically enjoyed. The desserts were equally satisfying with cheesecake, banana waffle and chocolate fondue chosen - we had little room left over to do justice to the cheeseboard! Many thanks to chefs Andy and Jess for these great meals! Another good point worthy of mention is the seating; this was found to be very comfortable by all age groups for the extended length of this event. Washrooms were close to hand and clean. Well Done to The Lounge :)

I ate at the MPW restaurant with a colleague whilst staying at Cadbury House for a business trip. I ordered the sea bream and I particularly wanted to try the spinach side dish with garlic and chilli. We found it nigh impossible to communicate with the waiter and could not understand him but I attempted to order my meal with the side dish. My meal arrived with out the side dish. I called the waiter over and enquired where the spinach was and he did the most bizarre ‘Basil Fawlty’ type thing I have ever seen. He laid his head on the table sideways between myself and my colleague and pointed at a piece of spinach poking out from under my sea bream. We where both looking down at him bemused – ‘what is he doing?’ It appeared to us that as I had spinach on my plate I was not allowed the requested side dish! Realising I would get no sense from him I called another waiter over and asked for the spinach side dish with ‘garlic & chilli’. He returned 10 mins later with a tiny thimble of spinach floating in water with no ‘garlic & chilli’. I have never in my life before been refused to order an item from a menu. On request they did take the item off the bill (£3.25 by the way). I have complained on the MPW website and received a bog standard email offering me a 2 course Sunday lunch. Not worth driving 100 miles for and if someone accompanied me they’d have to pay. Saying that, we have had my work colleagues roaring with laughter relaying the experience.

We went for Afternoon Tea on a Groupon Deal and im glad we didnt pay full price, the Staff member that dealt with us couldnt have been more miserable if she tried, she sat us down and immediately asked for the voucher, she said she would go off and get the tea, didnt offer us a choice of teas it was only because we asked what the alternatives where , we were pointed in the direction of where they were ( she could have just told us) , we were not asked if we had any allergies and when she dumped the food on the table there was 2 prawn sandwiches which I personally couldn't eat due to a shellfish allergy (fortunately my aunt could eat them) the scones were no better than you get in Tesco's and the 4 tiny pieces of cake were not anything special either, during our time there an envelope was dumped on the table by the miserable waitress with no explanation (it was a letter thanking us for our business and offering discounts and services at the gym/spa etc) the only reason I haven't given given this a terrible overall rating is because the glass of fizz was lovely however I will not be going back.

I gave up and sat down and then 10 minutes later had to jump up when I saw another member of staff arrive. The tea when it came was not good. To start with the pot of tea was 2 teabags suspended in a cafferteria, one of the teas was a vegetarian, we had 4 tiny sandwiches each. 3 were soft cheese and veg, 3 were tuna and veg and 2 were grated cheese - they were stale! I sent them back and we had fresh sandwiches, slightly better choice and the cakes were nice. We were given massive dinner plates to eat on.we were given 3 refills of hot water. I agree with the previous reviewer that the afternoon tea is very good. It's not the best I have had but it is one of the best I have had locally. I have been there twice now with family, both on groupon deals. We have found it a really pleasant experience. It's not the Ritz but for £7 a head what do some people expect????It's in a nice airy environment , the staff have always been friendly and accommodating . The bread is fresh and the fillings are fine. They could do a mix of Brown and White and could throw in some crisps for good measure but hey ho!Cakes are not home made but are pleasant enough and the scones are warm with plenty of Jam & clotted cream. We had no issues getting a refill for tea and we even had some extra sandwiches at no extra cost. We wouldn't hesitate on going back though I would probably wait for another deal as its great value!I consider myself to be quite particular when it comes to food and restaraunts and I can assure you this place is perfectly fine from my experiences. Well, I am a regular visitor to the lounge and find the staff, food and whole visiting experience a pleasure, that's why return time and time again. We had a groupon voucher for afternoon tea here, having never been before, we were expecting from the name 'the Lounge' a very relaxing atmosphere...it was more of a 'relaxed' atmosphere...when we arrived we were asked if we would like to sit inside or on the balcony. Being as there was a lot of noise inside, we thought outside would be better, to relax and enjoy the experience of afternoon tea.Once seated, overlooking the car park, on hard bench-like seats, the waitress went to get our afternoon tea and I noted I could smell cigarette smoke, I wondered of it may have been from someone who was under the balcony, stood in the car park, but it turned out the people on the next table were smoking 'apparently that was OK'? This made our event less than pleasant as neither of us smoke and it made us feel sick, by then there were no tables inside to move to, so we had to deal with it, so we rushed. The whole experience was made hilariously weird, to find that although we had dressed up and made an effort to go out for afternoon tea, the health club members there, were wandering around in bath robes and flip flops, so that they could come out onto the balcony for a drink and more cigarettes! We were surrounded by dressing gown clad smokers and it can only be likened to visiting hour at the local hospital where all the patients are wandering through the grounds in their night clothes, with a cuppa and a fag!I wouldn't recommend this venue if you are treating yourself or a family member, it's certainly not luxury. The food was OK, 8 small triangles of sandwich, 2 scones with jam & cream and 4 mini bite sized cakes on top, tea was fine and the wine alright, but was just plonked on the table and left us to get on with it, we had to ask for the tea and pour ourselves, ask for the wine, etc. but...for us the allowance of smokers around our food was a big put off. Personally I think it could have been much better with a little thought...this is not really a good venue/environment for a relaxing afternoon tea. Too busy, too casual, not really that special and think I've had longer, more relaxing visits, with more polite service at McDonald's! Big thumbs down from us I'm afraid.

We came yesterday for afternoon tea with some friends to celebrate 70th and 50th birthdays on a groupon offer. We travelled from Bristol with high expectations. Frankly I would not return if I was paid to do so. We were seated (I cannot say greeted) by an unfriendly waitress and it was made clear that we would have 1 cup of tea and one glass of Prosecco. The lounge was not busy as suggested. The loose monkey tea was vile, the food that followed which consisted of sliced white bread with very little unexciting fillings and horrid cakes which didn’t look homemade, perhaps they were from Makro frozen counters! The scones were tasty and fresh but the jam was tasteless and the cream was warm, obviously left out of the fridge, luckily I am not sick today. This was followed by a glass of ‘Prosecco’, I have no idea how they managed to muck that one up but it tasted like cheap, sweet sparkling wine!

I treated myself and a friend to the groupon offer of afternoon tea at the lounge. while the customer service was excellent, we were both disappointed by their offering. the food and tea seemed to be of a decent enough quality, but the amount of food offered was pitiful. we knew it wouldn't be a grand affair like the one I recently treated my parents to at a warner hotel, but i certainly won't be going back for another one at the lounge.it also didn't help that there only seemed to be access via a staircase, however, i didn't ask if there was a lift, but thought that if they'd had one that the staff would have pointed it out.

We ate as a large group and the service was very good. My soup was very uninspiring and could have come out of a can, the steak seemed well cooked but was tough and tasteless. I am not sure if I was a celeb chef I would be putting my name to this food.

I had a hen party pamper day last month and also had lunch in the lounge. The spa was lovely and so was the treatment. The lady who showed us around was polite and full of information! The treatment was nice,my only complaint with the spa was the beauty side. The beautician talked way too much during my massage for it to be as relaxing as it should but she did treat two of my friends after me and they said she didnt really say anything! The lunch was lovely and the service by a young man called Murrey won the day! He was absolutely brilliant! He was polite, efficient and very friendly! Just how a host should be! We felt well looked after!! We will defiantely return for lunch in the near future!!

I know the old saying 'never look a gift horse in the mouth' but I'm so disappointed for the person that spent £30 pounds of their hard earned money giving us a gift, I'm going to make an exception to this rule. My wife was recently ill and a good friend of ours was kind enough to give us a Groupon voucher for 'Afternoon Tea at Cadbury House'. As this was a Groupon deal our expectations weren't high, after all these kind of deals are designed to attract new customers by raising the profile of restaurants through [positive] word of mouth, more than offering great value for money. We arrived at Cadbury House and naively went to the reception desk of the old Cadbury House Hotel building - This is beautifully presented with stunning views across the valley. On the short walk from the car park we also noticed a gym/leisure centre, on the approach to the hotel. We were a little surprised, when we were told at the hotel reception that afternoon tea and ‘The Lounge’ were inside the gym, rather than the hotel. Ever the optimists we walked down to the leisure centre which was busy with families and members going to and from their workouts. We were directed up a flight of stairs, past a hair salon, to what I can only describe as the gym’s coffee shop. We were greeted by friendly and polite staff that were the only positive part of our visit.‘The Lounge’ is what I would describe as a modern coffee shop trying to be a restaurant/cafe. The decor seems to be badly modeled on Costa Coffee, with tables too close together. We were seated against a wall with views of people popping in for coffee in their gym clothes and bathrobes. The only thing that told us we weren’t in a coffee shop was the menu, which features a range of wine and champagne in an attempt to add a touch of luxury. The afternoon tea itself consisted of half a tiny sandwich cut into even tinier pieces (yes, too tiny even for afternoon tea), two scones, plus a few slices of cake (not at their best). Afternoon tea was supposed to include a glass of Prosecco each, unfortunately this didn’t materialise. To put this in perspective The Lounge have been charging people £30 for this deal, a similar offering at Browns Brasserie in Bristol would cost £20 for far more, and includes a glass of [real] champagne in enjoyable surroundings. Had the food been enjoyable it might have been enough to salvage the experience for us, but it was very poor. The Lounge has little atmosphere and is suffering from illusions of grandeur even by offering afternoon tea, which is completely out of place in this coffee shop style setting. It needs a reality check. The Lounge have made a poor attempt to market themselves by providing a deal on the back of Cadbury House Hotel, to the detriment of both the hotel and the gym. I’ve already seen another negative review on the hotel’s listing because of this deal. As they say you can't put a price on good publicity, and unfortunately our memory and the message we will pass to friends and family is that Cadbury House is a place best avoided. This was a good opportunity to show us what Cadbury House has to offer and instead it has left us feeling as though we have been robbed of the 25 minutes we endured there.

I've eaten at thelounge a few times now and cant seem to order anything except the home-made burger. It is one of the best burgers I have eaten. The service is always welcoming and friendly. All in all a nice relaxing place to eat.

Live locally so pop into The Lounge every now and then. Again, the service was very slow, tables unclean and the food was bland and mediocre. We all had wraps and sandwiches which were pretty chewy. Best bit of the meal was the chips.

We really enjoy our trips to The Lounge. Whether it’s just a treat for us and the kids or we are entertaining visiting friends and family, its friendly atmosphere and mix of relaxed or more formal seating suits either occasion. I love taking in the views out towards Clevedon which during our last visit were wonderfully lit by a beautiful sunset. On that visit we took my husband’s parents one of whom has a few food allergies but was able to enjoy a meal off the main menu with no alterations and really complimented us on our choice of venue. Whether you want a muffin & smoothie after a workout in the gym, some cheeky (but oh so good) nachos or a nice steak, it covers all the above and more and to top it all the service is fantastic too!

I have been a member of many Health clubs, but must admit have never used one as much as thelounge. The food service, quality of food is always excellent and the staff are always very friendly and welcoming. Being a sports person i always enjoy watching my favourite sports on the big TV screen, I love the smoothies and always have the fishcake salad! I think the Managers name is Lauren and she deserves a great deal of credit for the consistency i always recieve. Thank you to all at Cadbury House

Food was just o.k. V. expensive for what it is. Service mixed e.g one young women told us 'bread comes with main meal' (really?) impying we were stupid. Service slow -as there were only a handful of diners apart from our large party this shouldn't have been. However we enjoyed ourselves not wishing to complain and spoil friends leaving dinner. The end of the evening was a fiasco; the bill didn't come and after about 30 minutes we were told the computers were down. The staff did just not seem to know what to do and were very flustered - eventually some of us asked either for a calculator or pen and paper! Don't eat here, come to Clevedon or Bristol.

Great atmosphere, lovely food with great service. Love the way you can choose soft comfy sofas, restaurant style tables or booths with TV's - feels like restaurant dining without the cost - a great treat for the family.

I regularly visit the Lounge at Cadbury as I live locally. The Lounge always provides a warm and relaxed atmosphere and the staff are friendly, courteous and professional, Murray, in particular, is outstanding. Whether I visit for breakfast after a session at the gym or a 3 course meal the service is always great and the food high quality. The menu is varied and caters for most appetites including children. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Sunny day so we took advantage and sat outside and ordered drinks to the app at 2.50pm. Pint and vodka & orange. At 3.10 I went inside to see how long they would be drinks a rude tall woman with dark hair shouted at me ‘our screen is saying 25 mins can u see we busy’ no sorry just rude! So we decided to go and get served at the bar as there was no wait. We actually drank these then at 3.35 went to see where our drinks where that I ordered at 2.50! We eventually got them at 3.45. Then we ordered food which came within 15 mins. 👌Chicken bites were lovely! Garlic bread had no taste of garlic and the cheese chips lol see photo - what cheese. The female staff behind the bar need to learn how to use manners and SMILE. What a mirsable bunch. At least the male staff were friendly and welcoming. Won’t be going to this place again.

Consistently the best carvery I've eaten which is why I keep on returning with friends and family. Freshly cooked, hot and tasty. Although it is very busy on Sunday, the staff are always polite, friendly and efficient. Movenpick Ice-Cream is a real favourite (not easily found in the UK, so even more extra special).

The dining staff completely ignored my presence, so much so that I had to get up and ask at the bar for the pudding to be served. Their either need to train their staff to look the part and act the part or give up. Breakfast the following morning was similar, I had three staff not 4 feet from my table discussing their shift patterns at the top of their voices. I should have got up and asked them politely to move their discussions away from the paying guests but I did not.

They do not serve food. Apparantly they have not served food for 5 years. Think the website needs updating
