Came in for some a meal with my partner and was looked after wonderfully by Hope. Delicious food and reasonably priced drinks with a gorgeous atmosphere. Not one to miss!

Came in for a Sunday dinner. It was fantastic! Fresh veg and good potion sizes. Staff were lovely, I was served by Heather who was very sweet and pleasant. Big thank you to Maca and Jordan in the kitchen for the food :) I’ll be back again for sure!

Lovely bar, we stayed for a few drinks and it was spot on. Staff are canny and they have a huge marquee out the back for all kinds of gigs/events!

Lovely beer garden and wonderful, friendly staff

Lovely local pub. Was in the Lord Nelson recently and was really impressed by one of the bar staff, tall, stocky, dark haired lad with glasses. I had a recent knee injury and was struggling carrying drinks back and forth and every time I went to the bar he carried them for me and was so polite.

Amazing beer garden when the sun is out

45 minute wait for food, starters arrived with mains, had to wait an extra 30 mins for dessert. Very poor service and had to prompt staff several times as items missing from our order. Food was ok when it finally arrived.

Starters was brought out with the main meals. Food is awful. I was asked how I wanted my gammon steak cooked ?! The gammon steak resembled over cooked dried out bacon. Tables were all sticky

A superbly located cozy pub with pleasant and helpful staff. . Very nicely presented inside and out. Has a great outdoor space for days when the weather is good. A good selection of beers and a good menu. Both food and drinks keenly priced. Sky Sports is available on multiple screens. Update 12 July 24: We found the fish and chips we had to be spot on. Can't argue with the price of the food, it was keenly priced. The beer I had was very nice, but £5.85? That's expensive.

Unfortunately the food and bar service is deteriorating on the past few visits. Visited last Friday for a special evening meal with family and reserved table made 4 weeks earlier was not as requested. Meal wait time was over 60 minutes and also ran out of cocktail ingredients therefore unable to take up the 2 for 1 offer. Staff so overworked and showing this outwardly towards customers.

Too much trouble,the pub was out of control

Meals came luke warm. Chicken Tikka Curry with rice, mini nan bread and poppadom, very runny. Fish and Chips Feast - came with a battered sausage, curry sauce, instead of scampi and tartar sauce, second time lucky, was luke warm. Definitely NOT recommended. Otherwise, the staff and pub atmosphere in general is good.

Nice pub, decent venue to watch sports. My bit of feedback is that should a customer’s unfinished beer be collected incorrectly by over enthusiastic bar staff (as happened to me), if that customer mentions it, don’t sift through your collected dirty glasses and bring the wrongly collected warm dregs of a pint back to the customers table. It’s not appreciated.

A great home-local venue with amazing food and atmosphere! Staff are always welcoming and have great energy. Kai made our most recent visit great fun - looking after us and his team. 10/10 the best pub in the North East! Highly Recommend!

Was at the Lord Nelson over the weekend of the bank holiday had some drinks and was served buy a lad called kai who was very nice and polite and quick. The place was busy and everyone was having a good time.

Popped in on Saturday with friends, the place was buzzing. Only stayed for the one beer, the Newcastle match was on so the place was super busy. Friendly staff and customers. Can't wait for my next visit..

We had a really lovely meal here the other day. Plenty on the menu to choose from! The atmosphere was lovely and the staff we really friendly too. The beer garden is amazing in the summer and I’ve been to some great events in the outdoor marquee as well. All in all it’s a brilliant local pub!

What a place. Me and my niece visit here every time we visit the area. The atmosphere. The music. The people and most importantly the manager. Talk about feeling like a celebrity she makes you feel important and loved every time you walk through the door. Abbie thank you for everything you do from looking after us and giving the best service I’ve ever seen in newcastle. You are an asset to this place so never leave. Xx

What a lovely welcoming venue, staff are very friendly and really know their job and what is expected. The food comes out hot and presentable, and very tasty, very good value for money. The managers all know their customers and make them feel welcome, with their good knowledge of food and drink offers. Great venue- the Sunday roast is amazing, such big platefuls and very fresh

Sunday lunch with my partner today, we are new to the area so trying to discover new places to eat and drink, firstly the food was average at best, and overpriced, the tables were dirty and sticky, not a good start . my partner opted for the beef which felt as though it had been cooked yesterday it was very dry, I had the chicken which was average, again very dry and clearly pre cooked. The veg was ok and the gravy was thick albeit a bit lumpy, we had 2 glasses of coke, the overall price was £32.50 so I guess we paid premium prices for 2 soft drinks. A word of warning they ask you if you want extras cauli cheese, pigs and blankets and stuffing which if I hadn’t realised before I paid it would have cost an extra £11, poor quality food , I won’t be back in a hurry and I have an overwhelming feeling of being ripped off, ps I don’t mind paying a bit extra for quality and value for money, neither of which I got here, avoid at all costs

Went to the Nelson for a pre match drink with a number of football fans before going to a match at St.James Park. Friendly reception and pleasant staff. Reasonably priced drinks. Very clean and if it hadn't be so cold it would have been very pleasant to sit in the beer garden

This pub is so good, I come every week and always have such a good experience. The staff are amazing and make our time at the Nelson a very good time. There is always events on like bands games and others, I may aswell live here!

I have been to this pub hundreds of times over the years and always loved it especially summer afternoons outside but yesterday's experience was disappointing. Staff and atmosphere was great but the food was something different. I had Cumberland sausage and mash and what came up did shock me to be honest. A dry splodge of mash and it was packet mash for sure not real potato and three dry sausages. I think I used a half plastic bottle of mayonnaise just to loosen the mash a bit. My wife said her pie was OK but nothing special and I ordered a Katsu burger for my daughter and got 2 bits of chicken on top of each other on a plate. I always thought the chicken had to be in a bun to be a burger but maybe I am wrong. Considering we paid £10 per meal the portions were small and that's probably good considering the potato they served up. It's not about quantity i know when the quality is good but in this case it wasn't. Maybe we got a bad food night but don't think I would eat here again.

It wasn't quite the chicken breast I expected, just two slices. The mash wasnt real potato, more like smash and very dry at that... and the peas were microwaved into wee hard shells.

Every time I come into this pub I’m met with warm and friendly staff that treat you with respect. Always get great service at a very fast pace. Would completely recommend to anyone. Also very friendly with dogs and love to give the dogs any leftovers.

Absolutely amazing. Down for bank holiday visiting family and this is my favourite spot to come to. Dog friendly amazing staff. And welcoming manager. Food was to die for. Been down with my other half for bank holiday from Scotland and what atmosphere for band night everyone was so welcoming drinks were good price and the bar team were class!

Drinks expensive, food ok Went to the quiz tonight which was good, but found 7 pounds 90 extortionate for a large glass of red wine, questioned it and bar staff thought it was fine, will definitely think.twice about going back at that price, it is jarrow

Could not fault our experience at this beautiful local pub, the new manager Abbie went above and beyond - made us feel welcome, very attentive, lovely lady who has created a fantastic atmosphere!

Honestly not been in for years and popped in frienfly atmosphere and band playing good night. Downside pool table quite cramped with not much room to take some shots.

Just wanted to share my experience of The Lord Nelson, great large indoor area, always tables free, great outdoor area. always met with a smile from barstaff, food comes out within good time and is always delicious. Great choice of entertainment through the week should you want it, live music, quiz, poker nights, games nights to name a few. Don't miss this little village pub the people are lovely

Remember this pub when it had, bar, lounge, snug, many years ago. It's gone through a lot of changes over those years. Now all modern and upto date inside, carpark at the side, beer garden, disabled parking/entrance, dog friendly. Food available 7 days. Lots of different areas inside for sitting, good place to have a drink. There are one or two people who need a carbolic soap mouthwash.
