The Loft in South Holland

What a hidden gem !!! Never been here before but my son and I went along for lunch and had a fantastic meal . Attentive staff and the waitress that served us paid my son a compliment about his manners which made my day proud dad moment . I had the mega breakfast and it was cooked to perfection with lovely fluffy poached eggs and decent beans (not cheap catering beans ) spot on blank pudding sausage and bacon and crispy hash browns , no grease on the plate to be found , I was really impressed

Lovely homemade food, lady who served us was so nice. Coleslaw superb!! Happy little find on a day out. Enjoyed our food very much. Thank you.

I visited for breakfast with my kids. The service was good and they were accommodating with my request for scrambled egg on a kids breakfast instead of fried. When it came, however, the scrambled egg was so overcooked it was dry and flaky and had so much pepper in it my daughter tried it but couldn’t eat it which was a shame. She enjoyed the rest of her breakfast though. I had eggs benedict (though I think they call it a breakfast muffin) which looked great when it arrived, with the poached eggs being cooked perfectly. I wasn’t keen on their hollandaise though, and it was a bit bland for some reason. All in all it was an okay breakfast and the staff were very nice. Next time I’d just have a normal breakfast instead of the breakfast muffin and I’d definitely not have scrambled egg!

My wife and I wanted a meal and a drink. It was hot so ordered 2 Lemonades... just the small cans... £5.20 for 2. I know businesses are struggling, and so are people struggling to pay their bills. I told the lady £5.20 is not acceptable. We did not buy anything. OK, if the seats were comfortable and not alloy seats beside a busy road junction we might have tried the meals. I acknowledge the good reviews but £5.20 for two lemonades is ridiculous.

Absolutely beautiful lunch today, had the turkey & stuffing baguette with the loveliest homemade chips & coleslaw. Couldn’t fault the meal at all it was so tasty & well presented. Nice friendly service. The nicest cafe in Spalding in my opinion. Keep up the good work.

Visited for the 1st time today with my son and grandson. Great choice in menu. Staff were absolutely lovely and went out of their way to make sure the food was suitable for my 2 year old grandson. Food great quality and well cooked and presented. Restaurant clean and appeared covid safe. Will definitely be back

We visited The Loft today. Our food was perfectly cooked. Very tasty. The service was excellent. Wonderful customer service. Highly recommended. A must if you want an excellent meal out. We've never had to send a meal back all the times we've visited. Today was no exception.

Great experience. Friendly, helpful staff. Lovely food and drinks. Great value for money. Loads of choice. Had some hot drinks and a milkshake and then delicious cakes. Cakes were massive. Would definitely recommend and revisit.

Had a wonderful lunch with hubby. Food was amazing. I had the fish finger sandwich, which was perfectly cooked and served with a big friendly smile. Hubby had the breakfast with local sausages and bacon and perfect poached eggs. Lovely atmosphere, great portion sizes and decent price.

We have passed this cafe several times promising to call and this week we did and it was very good. I had a cheese and chutney sandwich with very fresh brown bread and a portion of chips, loads of cheese and tasty chutney and my other half had a home made scone with jam. Both meals were excellent and the chips were piping hot.The two young ladies waiting on were very friendly and efficient. Shall we call again, definitely.

My partner and I are regulars here and it is our favourite breakfast spot. A nice relaxed atmosphere and fresh food that is always yummy. The staff are very friendly and accomodating and this has not changed now we have a newborn. We are sometimes joined by family and they always enjoy it too. Highly recommend!

Great find. We only had tea with teacake and bacon and sausage bap but great atmosphere and friendly staff. Spotlessly clean. Definitely will return. We normally have coffee in the supermarket cafe on this complex but refuse to use chipped crockery!

Went in for some lunch during my lunch hour with a friend and waited 40 minutes for a panini and salad which is appalling for something so simple to make. When we went downstairs to pay for our drinks, the food wasn't even ready then. Staff didn't even apologise for the delay either. Won't give it a 1 star as we didn't actually get any food.

As per normal great food , great service , friendly staff ,thank you and keep up the good work . It’s a shame other food outlets in the local area don’t have your work ethic A+

Just had a lunch with friends, great meeting place, the young waitress was very pleasant. Great value, lovely hot food, all freshly cooked.

Tried to have lunch here on a previous occasion but there were no tables available at that time. Taking that as a good sign I came back and wasn't disappointed. Well worth a visit if you're looking for somewhere different and unique to eat.

Arrived to find a very quiet cafe and ordered 2 VERY basic meals.

Have eaten here with both friends and family for many years and have never had anything other than praise for the food and service . Can be very busy so more people than me must know its pretty good .

Made the mistake of going to the Loft for lunch yesterday. The café was quiet when we arrived but gradually got busy so our order was placed when the kitchen was not busy. Despite that, 2 simple orders of pie, chips and beans and a breakfast took half an hour to arrive. We were minutes away from walking out when the food finally arrived. Was it worth the wait, decidedly not. My chips were awful, the pie was a pasty, not a pie, the beans were a poor quality. I felt sorry for the 2 waiting staff who had to apologise for the slow service. I complained at the payment desk but the man in the kitchen, who I took to be the owner, studiously ignored my complaint despite me making it sufficiently load that he could hear. I won't be going back there anytime soon and I would recommend others to stay clear. There are a number of much better cafe's in Spalding to take your business to.

We came here for lunch can strongly recommend the panini,fruit scone with jam and clotted cream to eat. We had the milksmilkshakes made with Ice cream and cream. Though the place was very full the staff were helpful and apologetic for the wait. Definitely go.here again.

Good tasty food, excellent friendly service , ambience and atmosphere is relaxed and downstairs is a great place to watch the world go by 😊

Never going here again, fed up of the bad attitude of one particular server, the short woman with short dark hair, why don’t you try a smile?

Popped in with my parents for a couple of Lattes and an Americano, was made to feel extremely welcome by Paula and the Lattes were presented very well. Americano was a tad mild in flavour but still fine. We will return for food next time, I feel sure. Well-done keep up the good work.

We stopped in here with some friends for lunch and coffee, what a great experience! The food was tasty and well presented the staff were friendly and helpful and the coffee was hot, strong with a great flavour, a nice informal setting to enjoy a meal with family and friends

Both my Partner and myself visited the Loft for lunch, she had the Vegan Chilli non Carne & I had the Vegan Chana Masala. We both agreed they were very well presented & tasted fantastic. We followed these with a piece of Vegan cake too, she had the lemon and I had the orange ones, again they were both really good. The staff are really nice too and made the whole experience really enjoyable.

Decided to pop into the loft with my son for a breakfast we sat down upstairs and soon attended to by a very pleasant member of staff, and told we would have a 20min wait as they were very busy.

I've been here lots of times and never had a bad meal. Staff are friendly and helpful. Menu is great and always lots of specials available

We came to the loft for our works meal last week. We all enjoyed the wonderful food and amazing hospitality. The staff were helpful and friendly and went out of their way to ensure we all had a great night. This is the second time we have had our works party here,and it hopefully won't be the last.

The Loft is consistently good. Food is freshly prepared, tasty and plenty of it. Service is friendly and slick. Our only criticism, the chairs are uncomfortable particularly if you're short. The seats are saggy and need a bit more bolstering please!

Good, good food.....great use and choice of produce that is the Loft! My advice if wanted would be for this team to branch out into an evening restaurant, I'm sure it would be a hit and quickly be added to the Mitchellin guide.....

The food at this venue has always been consistently good however when visiting with family group on more than one occasion have found customer service skills of some staff less than welcoming making the whole experience a -5 out of 5. Will not be patronising again.

I had a panini which came with the best coleslaw and a lovely side salad. My friend had a fish finger sandwich with really nice garlic chips. The food was really lovely,fresh and hot. A great choice of food and drink to enjoy in comfortable surroundings.

We had a fantastic lunch today. I had the meat platter and Gill had the steak chilli wraps.Both meals were lovely ,plentiful.....and great value.All staff were brilliant. Thanks very much to everyone at The Loft,we will visit again soon.

I came with a family party of 6 on a day between Christmas and New Year. This was our first visit and we were impressed. We found the menu to be very good bearing in mind it was the first day of opening after the Christmas break, and our choice of the burger from the Specials Menu was delicious. Homemade and freshly cooked burger, homemade and freshly cooked chips with a homemade coleslaw and salad - it doesn't get any better than that!Service was on the slow side but it was very busy so I suppose that was to be expected and we were in no hurry so it wasn't too much of a problem for us.We will most definitely return!

Came in to meet my friend for a coffee the atmosphere in there was really warming and welcoming the staff was really pleasant served us straight away i had the loft breakfast and my friend had the holy cheesemus burger it was amazing the size of the burger was astounding cannot fault the place at all thank you for a lovely lunch time

Brilliant place to eat, friendly staff, quality food and immaculate restaurant. What really stuck out is that they offer small breakfast dishes For when you don't want to eat a massive full English, I didn't know poached eggs on toast could be so tasty 10/10 all around spot on

Café located near Spalding bus station. Very impressive-looking cakes. I had a fruit scone; unfortunately, it was spicy. Cappuccino quite good. I had to wait 20 minutes for this, though, and nearly missed my train.

If you're not in a hurry to get back to work, The Loft is an ideal place for lunch and a chat. The food is plentiful and fresh. Can be a little overcomplicated though. Good range of drinks and coffees. Can be a bit pricey but then you get what you pay for don't you.

Unfortunately, there has been no money spent on this cafe. It used to be the best in town. Now it's fairly grotty. It's a shame as a lot of effort goes into the menu & food prep. The surroundings however, really make you feel like you are in a dive. New floor, tables & chairs and a lick of paint, jobs a good'un!! The pork & stuffing bap from the specials was fabulous as are the breakfasts!

Friendly place, good coffee, divine coleslaw. Sadly I wanted to use the free wifi on offer when there but the staff couldn't find the password for access!!

Went to visit on Tuesday. Had the loft special burger which was ok, nothing special. Most of the food must come from lidl, as you always see him in there, with he's chef clothes on. I'm not saying lidl's food is bad, but if it is coming from there, the prices should reflex this. Again it is also not nice seeing the front of house staff, going out the front for a Cigarette, in full few of customers. Which regards to the decor I think the walls need a lick of paint, and the chairs all need replacing as they can't be cleaned properly as the backs of the chairs are all peeling off , and looks awful. The loft is closed every evening so if a bit of time was spent over a few evenings you could get the job done, without affecting your opening hours. I will visit again, but I'm not a frequent customer as I use to be. I have always said the loft has a lot of potential and I really do think an evening offering ( Friday's and Saturdays ) would be very Beneficial.

Just been for a meal at the loft in Spalding, last time we visited was over nine months ago. The service has changed and was very slow, the decor is very tied and needs refreshing, and on a lot of the chairs the material is damaged/worn out and flakey and therefor they can not be cleaned and partials could fall into your food. Also now selling wine from a local supermarket for four times the price maybe that's where they now purchase there food. Not the right standard for a restaurant! I am not sure if it is now under new management but standards and food quality have slipped. I don't think I will be going back again in a hurry. Food very average.

This is a really nice place to meet and eat with friends and family. Portions are generous and not over pricedhighly recomend this place

During our 4 day stay, we had a cooked breakfast 3 times as all our trips went via Spalding. Ample breakfast, lovely toast and tea. Clean, warm, and welcoming staff. Pauline was our waitress and she was lovely and accommodating, except when she was too busy polishing the coffee machine to see me waiting, but we laughed about it. Thoroughly recommended.

When I heard that The Loft was changing hands I was concerned about what the new owners would change but me and my husband are over the moon that they have kept the same staff and they have kept the same high standards! We went for a light lunch and it was absolutely delicious! The chips are to die for and I think I had the best mocha I've ever had! Well done team and thank you to the new owners for not charging in and changing a well run business ☺️

A nice little cafe with a giood atmosphere and reasonably friendly staff. Lovely food, maily snacks but plentiful and at the right prices. Great for couples and a lunchtime chat over food with friends

Visited here over the Christmas break for lunch and a catch up with my friend. I believe they have new owners and I have to say the service or the food has not slipped in standards, even though I only ordered a sandwich the portions are generous and prompt table service with salad and coleslaw on the side. I can never resist the cheesy garlic chips which are out of this world!

I have been meeting friends at The Loft regularly for lunch. We have tried a few other venues but keep coming back. Service is good and the food is always top class

Had a small breakfast with a pot of tea, very busy for a Saturday morning. Papers were readily available to read whilst waiting. Very good breakfast, waitress pleasant, nothing too much trouble.

Went for the first time with a friend for a quick bite to eat. Was very surprised on how nice the food was . Good choice on the menu and great place to go to for lunch. Good portions , fresh and home cooked. Not a huge place and it's always busy which is a good sign . Good value for money , staff also friendly.

This was my first visit to The Loft, although I had passed it a number of times and heard good things about it.It was just a drop-in for 'elevenses' although the venue offers a range of meals choices.I was immediately impressed when a member of staff cleared the table we had taken and then came back to wipe it down. A rarity these days! Soon after, another member of staff came to take our order, also becoming rare these days!Our order was promptly executed and another surprise. As I had ordered the last slice of lemon cake, it as slightly smaller than was the standard so this was to be reflected in a reduced the bill! I kept on being impressed.I'd ordered a Cappuccino and it was one of the nicest I'd had recently and the not the most expensive either!The venue itself isn't overly large although there is an upper floor - hence The Loft - which I didn't see. The ground floor is wheelchair accessible as is the toilet, which was spotlessly clean and fresh.All-in-all a very nice venue with helpful and pleasant staff.

This was my first time at The Loft, I wasn't really expecting much from it as from outside it looks very small.We were a party of 8,including 2 children, on arrival we was greeted with a smile, told our table was upstairs, I was pleasantly surprised to find a very nice modern seating area, we was shown to a corner sofa where we sat and had a drink, our waitress was very friendly and informative, as a vegetarian I thought my options would be very limited but was informed I could adapt the menu to suit me. We ordered our food,and more drinks,even though the place was busy,we only waited a very short time for our drinks,even our food wait time was quite acceptable.We were all delighted when our food arrived.The portion sizes are generous and everything was really well cooked and very tasty.I will certainly be making a return visit in the not too distant future.

A great place to meet up with my partner for a spot of lunch. The selection on the menu is very good although I always have their Jacket Potatoes as they're great. A table by the window is nice place to sit and to watch the world go by. The table was a little sticky which was irritating but it had been wiped down? The staff were polite, friendly and attentive. A pot of tea for two and two Jacket Potatoes with beans and cheese each accompanied by a large and well dressed side salad for £11 - you can't really go wrong!

Coffee and bacon sandwich with brown sauce to go ! Lovely coffee and the best bacon/ bread combo in town by a mile. Could eat every day if I had chance.

We booked the restaurant for a private function, which it was a lovely room for. The food was also very good, but the service was a bit questionable, particularly at the bar. Drinks were very expensive

Very busy which is good as its popular. Large meals and smashing big chips. Always a pleasure to eat there even to have a coffee.

Decided to try it out for the first time and can say I won't be going back. Our waitress wasn't very polite, we waited 20 minutes for our drinks and then told the food we ordered had been sold out. My partner ordered the prawns which were more expensive than my burger and chips. We waited another 20 minutes for our food and when it arrived my partner had 5 prawns and half a lettuce. He didn't eat the "salad" so paid nearly £7 for 5 prawns. The milkshake was very good but unfortunately it's not enough to bring me back. We never got asked if we enjoyed our meal and when we mentioned it while paying the lady said "oh okay" no apology or explanation. Disappointed

The Loft is very welcoming, the staff always friendly and helpful and the food freshly prepared and cooked. The menu is varied for light bites and snacks and the chips chunky, with skins on and home produced. Always a pleasant experience.As the title says I also think they cook the nicest omelettes in the area. There is always a range of home baked cakes to choose from which are particularly nice as well.

The Loft is a warm friendly restaurant. The menu is varied and generally everyone is catered for.Having been a few times with friends my only complaint is that they don't cater for people with dietary requirements such as myself with Coeliac Disease. I can't have the chips because, home made though they may be (and look really really nice), they're cooked in oil that has had other foods cooked in it. Can't have the baguettes, sandwiches etc so I always have jacket potatoes with a request not to cross contaminate. The food always looks lovely - and tastes just as good as my friends assure me. It is a little bit dark upstairs but that's not always a bad thing and its not that bad. Big sofas and comfortable chairs make it a great place to eat.

I came here with my friend and her toddler, of which she was well catered for. We all had different meals, all home made, all good size portions and happy with our food

I finally visited here after hearing lots of people rave about it. Unfortunately it did not live up to my expectations. We were sat upstairs and the first thing I noticed was how dark it was. There aren't many windows but the incredibly dark furniture, dark coloured walls and poorly placed lights do not help the situation. It completely needs redecorating...it needs to be fresh, light and airy to give the feeling of space...it can still have a warm feeling with the right design.Getting onto the food I found it very average. My panini had barely any flavour thus wasn't overly appetising and the garlic chips they offer do not have one single hint of garlic, they are just incredibly greasy.Service was a little slow, not strictly for ourselves but i did watch people walk out because no one came to see them. Not in a rush to revisit and certainly won't be raving about it I'm afraid.

Love this place been several times now and ive never not cleared my plate the food is just so good. The atmosphere is really relaxed never feel rushed no matter how busy they are.

I have been to a The Loft several times and every time has been a joy. As soon as you walk in the staff welcome you with a smile and you can always guarantee a clean table either downstairs or upstairs in their delightful loft area. You are always served immediately there is no waiting around and the food is always well cooked and presented to a high standard. The cakes in there are too die for! The only shame is that it is up for sale, new owners please keep it as it is!

Love the loft and we book a table now as can be very busy at lunch time . The food is lovely ::)) if you go in your lunch hour prob best to tell them you have limited time as I've been late back to work once as was very busy . My favourite place in Spalding .

Food here is great, but be warned the portions are HUGE, but if your anything like me cannot waste as it is just to tasty. All fresh food. Lovely atmosphere.

I visited here for lunch yesterday with a friend. We sat upstairs and the atmosphere and surroundings were good. Service was quick, friendly and efficient. The panini's were excellent and served with a helping of dressed salad and coleslaw. We weren't rushed either and sat chatting with another drink after our food. I look forward to another lunch there in the future.

Visited The Loft last week for lunch with a couple of friends who frequent the place on a regular basis - they were keen for me to try it. I was extremely impressed from the offset - very contemporary, clean, bright and airy with a nice ambience. The service is professional and friendly and there is plenty to choose from off the menu. Good food...great prices! It really is a must if you're looking for a coffee and a light bite. I look forward to returning soon.

I have enjoyed brunch, lunch or just popped in for a coffee with friends on numerous occasions over a number of years. The coffee is very nice and the food is good, although the menu hasn't changed or been varied much in all the time we have visited. That said, you know what you are getting and it is always good, however, a little more variation for lunch wouldn't hurt though. Staff are always polite and efficient. Downstairs seating is limited but there is plenty of seating upstairs, although I do find it a bit dark upstairs. I would recommend this café to anyone.

Regularly go to the Loft when meeting friends due to it’s central location and great service. The food is always to a very high standard, especially when ordering off the specials menu. Don’t be put off by negative reviews as I have been on many occasions and never found a single fault with this venue.Staff are very friendly and atmosphere is very relaxed with a varied cliental. The Loft can get busy but this is a sign of its popularity and consistently good food.. worth the wait for tables!

Really disappointed with the service and hygiene.Even though the waitress staff advised us that seating was available upstairs, they still some how took no notice of us and took orders from people who came in after us. After 20 minutes of waiting, my husband went down stairs to complain that our order had not yet been taken.We both ordered a full English, part way through mine I found a dark brown human hair approx 3 inches long under the mushrooms, this put me off eating the rest of my meal. I complained to the waitress who asked me what I would like her to do about it. I asked her to inform the kitchen, she left the plate in front of me. She returned and said that she had a message from the kitchen for me....that's what mushrooms are grown in, it is not a human hair and it cannot of originated from the kitchen as they wear hair nets. I informed her that no one had looked at the plate, that I am a QA Manager within the food industry myself and that I know the difference between mushroom fibres and human hairs. I suggested she take the plate and show it to the person making these statements without even looking.After seeing I had left, a whole egg, some mushroons, some bacon and some beans, she asked have I finished with my breakfast, I explained that being pregnant and after finding a hair within the food, I have no intention to continue eating the rest of the food. No offer of a discount / replacement was made.We headed down stairs and asked for the bill, upon paying we witnessed 2 male kitchen staff, neither were wearing hair nets, 1 had a beard, he was not wearing a beard snood...therefore felt lied to about the hair net situation. I also witness one male member appear to spit into a piece of tissue at the sink area - disgusting.We were charged full price for both meals, a rip off considering all of the above.We will never go there again and I fully intent to tell friends and family about our experience.Customer service training needs to take place within this establishment.

The Loft has a very nice setup and the service is usually good. They also do great breakfasts! However, depending on what you order off the main menu, you could be in for a taste sensation or something rather bland! I've had a delicious speciality burger and chips in here, but terrible chicken Caesar salad (which to my dismay was made up with sliced chicken from a packet). You never know until it arrives!

I have previously raved about The Loft (see my past reviews) but having visited a few times recently the standards have seriously dropped. The food quality just isn't the same, dirty sticky tables, very young inexperienced staff who consistently make mistakes on orders and management that are distant and very 'hands off'. You used to get such a warm welcome on arrival when Sofia and Margaret were there but since they have gone all you get is a bland stare, like you have just walked into their home uninvited. They even let you walk in and go upstairs knowing that there are no available tables. I witnessed many unhappy customers. No obvious management at all.Very disappointing and with Costa Coffee now in town this crew need to seriously up their game or they face a very bleak future.

The staff are courteous, the coffee is great and the carrot cake is gorgeous! I can't believe someone would give this a poor rating because it was overcrowded! Surely that's a sign of it's popularity! Ridiculous.
