The Lodge Inn Restaurant in King's Lynn and West Norfolk

We'd been looking forward to a Sunday lunch at The lodge for a long time. The trip had been planned months in advance. The service we received was warm and prompt. Very friendly. The food, however, made us wish we had eaten at the Le Strange Arms hotel we had stayed at down the road. The pork my wife had was a massive steak (rather than slices from a roasted joint) and the fat was not rendered at all. The pork steak looked like it had been flash fried and was so underdone it had to be left. The roast potatoes tasted like they hadn't been re heated enough. Clearly not freshly made. The roast beef was so tasteless I wondered what meat it was. The Yorkshire pudding was clearly reheated but not enough. It was not crispy nor was it hot. All in all my wife and I agreed that it was one of the worse Sunday lunches wed ever had. We had considered staying at The Lodge, but after eating there we have vowed never to return. So sad, as we had SO looked forward to eating there.

Took my son for 24th birthday lunch. Really lovely environment, great food (lack of vegetarian options the only downside) and really friendly staff. My son said his pork loin was the best he'd ever had!

Didn't stay but had dinner here on two consecutive nights. Lovely veg options. Lebanese Salad and the pizza were both perfect. Had to park on the footpath, the carpark was rammed. Spotless cosy interior and lovely staff.

The food here is delicious! Best roast I’ve had for a long time and the desserts were insane, apparently the chef was Lewis, seriously talented! Dog friendly, very good service 👌👌

The staff and food were excellent

We booked at The lodge for a much needed 4 night break (Mon -Fri) with our little dog in a courtyard room, unfortunately we picked the days that builders were working on the room next to us in the courtyard .. and had their work tables set up directly outside our door with much sawing, drilling and hammering. I probably should have mentioned to a member of staff how much this disrupted our stay but didnt feel up to discussing our personal reasons of recent bereavement that made us decide we needed a break . We also felt we should have been told that building work was taking place on the adjoining room and give the option to stay. When we returned I did email and was very grateful for the Lodge's understanding and partial refund. We had room and breakfast and the first breakfast on the Tuesday morning I can honestly say was one of the best breakfasts I have had, I believe it was grilled, the bacon was lovely, lean and well cooked and the mushroom was juicy and flavoursome.. But on the following mornings the breakfast was not the same it appeared to us to be fried the bacon was different, curled up cooked more on one side then the other and as I cut into mushroom it left a lot of oil on the plate and tasted unpleasant, not sure what oil was used. I did speak to a lovely helpful staff member that served us on the friday morning and asked if the chef was different to the one we had on the Tuesday morning and was told that, that chef only comes on a Tuesday... All I can say is get him/her in every day as they are an excellent cook !! We have on previous occasions had a sunday lunch in the restaurant and it was great. We did manage to partly enjoy our stay, the room was lovely and the staff friendly. We stayed out as long as we could of a morning and returned of an afternoon but the builders/building work was very noisy. Next time we would go for a selfcatering option.

Very tasty and well presented food. Good service. "Discretionary" 10% service charge applied to bill which is not good - felt obliged to pay it. Mid week menu is a little limited and desert options disappointing (for us!)

Been many times and our mini break over August Bank Holiday was amazing. Special thanks to Brittany, who did an amazing job listening and supporting me when I was having a tough time. All the staff here are so warm and welcoming, and nothing is too much, you just have to ask them when you are visiting. Fish and Chips is incredible as always, so much so, I don't eat them anywhere else as I know I will be disappointed. Thank you Brittany and your team, hope to see you all soon,

Hi I am a local and live in OH Came for Lunch on 23/08 for my Daughter-in-law’s Birthday. Lodge usually is great., I know it is Bank Holiday and Tennis Tournament We chose lunch as had a new grand child with us. Food very average I chose a Crab salad which was £22 pounds. A light lunch. Sorry Terrible. Crab Fried potatoes? And a large piece of quick bake French bread a leaf of salad I mean come on, average crab on coast is £6 max, of course you have your expeensives You are better than that even in holidays season. The rest was very average. Please step up to the plate😁

Such a good selection and it comes beautifully presented. The food is very nice and has lots of veg and healthy ingredients so feels virtuous. Portion sizes are really good and the service well paced. Very impressed. Will definitely go again and take the family when we visit next time.

Two words - ABSOLUTELY AWFUL, definitely not worth the cost. The staff were pleasant, in between gossiping, they didn’t really care if you enjoyed the food just took our full plates of food away without asking, which is always a bad sign.

We holiday in Hunstanton every May and always drop in to The Lodge for a couple of meals during our stay. Never had a bad experience here during the last few years, it’s a very nice bar, the food is great (recommend the curry from standard menu, it’s excellent), service is good and they are dog friendly. 4 stars instead of 5, just because it is quite pricey, but still recommended! A lovely place for a family meal.

2 night stay with 2 evening meals and were not disappointed. Quality, quantity and presentation as good as you could get, all served by courteous staff. We have spent the past 4 days as a family dining in local restaurants near to where we’re staying in Brancaster and The Lodge was by far the best. The service was excellent; we tweaked one of the meals which arrived exactly as requested and the food overall was outstanding. We sadly no longer have our dog but it was refreshing to see how dog-friendly they are. Highly recommended. We’ll definitely be back.

We had a lovely time here. Booked fairly last minute. Got the last available room which was described as comfy & cosy. It was really spacious & had a sea view. Spotlessly clean & some luxury toiletries were a nice touch. The whole team were very welcoming, friendly & professional doing a great job. The food was delicious, plentiful & good value. The drinks were very reasonably priced too. There was lots of choice at breakfast & good quality. Best greek yogurt i've had. We met friends for Sunday lunch & it was all exceptional too. Great atmosphere in the hotel. Looking foward to returning soon.

We have (like some others, I see) found the menu a little lacking lately (maybe just that we don't fancy what is on offer). As the menu doesn't seem to change very often this is an issue - I note there are a couple of specials, though of course not known until the day. The pizzas are so delicious we come every so often for these. However, there is no shortage of good pizza in these parts! We have sometimes found The Lodge a little impersonal but when we came 5 March, early evening, the service was excellent, really friendly and very efficient, so many thanks.

Would like to thank Josh and the team for a great evening on Fri 8th March on the occasion of a 50th birthday party. There were 12 in the party selecting various dishes from the menu, and the food, service and surroundings were first class. All staff seemed happy were very obliging and professional in their approach to everything. The birthday cake (chocolate) was delicious and a lot of work had gone into decorating it. Thanks again for a wonderful evening.

We ate twice here during our stay at The Lodge. Excellent service, attentive without being over powering, and we really enjoyed the food - nice selection of dishes.

Bar lacked atmosphere and despite it being advertised that there would be log fires, they were sadly not lit. We chose The Lodge for a family meal as the menu looked attractive and there was an offer on the website that kids can eat free before 5pm. After planning our day around the offer, we asked for confirmation on arrival and received an abrupt and quite frankly rude response, ‘no that offer finished last September’. No apology and no alternative offer. With such a poor reception we decided to leave and headed to The Orange Tree in Thornham, which offered a warm reception, log fires and excellent food.

Having visited the Lodge on many occasions over the past 20 years, we popped in for something to eat. A small menu so we both decided to have fish and chips. It arrived very quickly and the fish was thick in batter covered with salt. Very disappointed, little fish after taking off the salty batter. Two drinks and 2 fish and chips over £50, need to get back to what you used to serve, this was not good enough

We visited The Lodge on 5th Feb for lunch. We have been to The Lodge on many occasions over the past twenty years. We found the lunch menu had become quite restrictive and decided to have fish and chips. When it arrived, which was very quickly, it had rock salt on the batter. We both removed this as we don’t salt our food. When I bit into the batter it tasted of pure salt, the chips were ok but I couldn’t eat the fish at all, my husband also found it too salty and left most of his. Although it wasn’t very busy no one came to ask us how our meal was and when eventually someone collected the plates she asked if we were finished as we hadn’t ate much. I explained that the fish was too salty and she said she would inform the chef. No one came to apologise and we just paid the bill and left, we were both very disappointed as two fish and chips, a medium rose wine and a shandy was £50.00, which if we had enjoyed the food would have been ok.

Went in to eat only. Ordered a turkey roast and fish and chips.... roast was hot in the middle and cold around the edge manager assured me they didn't use a microwave lol... but we all know the a microwave heats from the middle out... told them I wasn't happy to pay £20 for this cold meal and was giving a £6 discount. My husbands fish and chips well... it was all batter no fish... the peas were not mushy but chopped up and gross he didn't eat them!. Ordered 2 sausage for my dogs at £2 each only they enjoyed their treat in all this. This place is a waste of money. Over rated! I'd never step foot on here again......

Stayed here as a couple with small dog and everything was perfect. Beautiful dog-friendly room with wood burner, perfect as outside was very cold. great location just 5 mins walk to lovely Old Hunstanton beach, perfect for dog walking. Had 2 breakfasts and 1 dinner and the food was excellent, all of a very high standard. The staff very all very friendly and couldn't be more helpful, we will certainly be back.

Tiny portions- this is a main and did not even come with vegetables for £23!! Had to go somewhere else to eat afterwards. Disappointed!

Over priced and bland. £17.50 for a small burger and small position of chips. No salad, onion rings or anything in the burger other than some weird cheese and horrible bacon and tomato sauce. Won’t be visiting again as now off to get some food to feel me up.

Treated my partner to an overnight stay with dinner, bed & breakfast. The Loft Suite was just simply mind blowing. Everything you needed and a sea view. Food was well presented and so tasty. I would definitely recommend.

We went for a family meal. The staff were very polite and the food tasted great, we didn't have room for dessert! The restaurant itself was very clean and tidy. Will definitely do a return visit.

We had the roast dinner which was £19 for turkey, beef or pork and an eye watering £26 for lamb. Only beef came with a Yorkshire pudding but for £1 each you could buy one. The portions were small, not enough veg and the meat was all rather tasteless. The Yorkshire which came as extra was over cooked and had an odd aftertaste. For pudding I had a pear frangipane dish which sounded delicious but turned out to be a large slice of some bought in cake which was cold and stodgy. I couldn’t fault the staff and the place had a nice character but the food was overpriced for the quality- shame
