Great halloween atmosphere tonight at the lodge. Super service at bar from sharkey and Emily . Full house and entertaining music. Staff busy serving and waitressing.

Chain food and clearly reheated as opposed to cooked on sight. Lots of items not available. What new had was ok and good quantity and not expensive. Flatbread was a bit soggy. Some chicken overcooked. Pie had too much pastry. Adequate and at least speedy service.

Another great evening out here. A fantastic steak, no fat, well presented and at a reasonable price. Not to be missed early in the week, one of the specials. Highly recommended

Went for food and quiz, was absolutely lovely. The staff are amazing and friendly. Food arrived quickly considering it being busy.

We love coming to the quiz every Tuesday. Recently her a new menu which has been fab to try! Good atmosphere, staff, and drinks.

All 3 of us really enjoyed our dinners.There was abit of a wait but it was worth the wait.The food was piping hot & very tasty,perfect infact. Highly recommended

All three meals were very poor, One ordered medium rare steak and it came out well done honestly it was like chewing through a brick all three of us had steaks and they were all the same so chewy and hard as well as this my flatbread just had chunks of fat on it. disappointing as i’ve always like green king chain pub food. Looked like the lady was running food by herself so she must of been rushing but we didn’t even have cutlery on our table when our food arrived nor were we told if we had to get it ourself, no check back on our food so couldn’t even mention how bad the quality of our meals were.

We visited with our 7 month old granddaughters for lunch. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was top quality.

We’ve been here for lunch. We sat outside. We had the chicken mix and a hamburger. Food is fine, good atmosphere, good choice of beers. Ordering through the app is very easy

We came to The Lodge for their stay and play 10-12 on a Thursday, the staff were so lovely and baby had a wonderful time meeting new people and playing with a good selection of toys. The grown ups had a nice natter, drink and relax. We stayed for lunch afterwards, enjoyed the BOGOF burger deal, and was pleasantly surprised to find they sell baby food too so even baby had a nice treat. Definitely coming again!

Natalie completely ran the show today, never stopped for a breath, suddenly got so busy and her high standards of customer service never wavered. Amazing member of staffalso Pete, Ian and Irene are assets to this pub, constant friendly customer service that is so sincere

Service was quite slow, waited about 50 minutes for food and 20 for drinks. The waitresses, however, were lovely. Cassie and Natalie, served my friends and I and made sure we were alright; definately deserve recognition.

Saskia and everyone on shift was very lovely all night, they apologised politely for our wait and the service was great all night.

So my partner and I decided to eat here.Called and managed to book on the same day for the evening. Arrived and was shown to table. Ordered food and drinks which went ok however I witnessed 2 members of staff (one possibly the manager) standing behind the bar serving drinks with their face masks under their chin! This actually gave me really bad anxiety as I couldn’t believe my eyes when the female bar staff member was whistling all over the drinks she just poured with the mask under her chin. Food was nice, cooked well but the drinks… 20 mins to arrive each time ordered. The deserts came before the finalDrinks meaning we didn’t really want them by the time they’d arrived, as wanted to leave by then. Work needed on the fluidity of drinks and please… wear your masks properly!!!!

Seven of us came for a family meal today and the food was absolutely lovely, staff are very friendly and always happy to help. Will call again and great value for money.

We've been here a couple of times this week already and I don't have a bad thing to say! The food is great, the staff are really friendly and the service has been first class. Cassi and Irene were especially wonderful!

Usually can’t fault the Lodge for food having eaten here a million times before. Tonight we waited an hour for two burgers, they came without apology or acknowledgement for our wait. We also waited a good while for drinks each time we ordered, 20/25 mins a time. The ordering app does work well which is a positive. Burger buns were rock hard and we couldn’t work out if they were well toasted or half toasted and half really stale. No salt or pepper, no vinegar, two sachets of sauce per person only and a lack of staff to ask for help with these things. We understand it’s been rough for pubs over the last year but we were really disappointed with tonight!

i would like to thank all of the staff that supported with our two table socially distanced birthday party for my daughters 18th birthday. it was so nice for her to see her brother and nana . The food and drinks were all served by friendly helpful staff. Food was great as usual and all came out together even though we were over two tables. Would highly recommend to any family for a legal get together.

This is the best pub I’ve been to whilst social distancing is in place. H and the team have got it spot on. Love quiz nights on a Tuesday with Freddie. Food, drinks, service is always spot on

Came for some drinks and food. Was frowned up on for not using the app and requesting table service then food took 30 minutes to arrive despite atleast 5 workers and place being quite empty. Also we ordered 4 drinks with 1 of the drinks for someone sat away from us, we asker this to be taken from him and the response was "he can come and get it". Our food light was on green for ready for atleast 10 minutes and then it was taken off only when we complained and asked where our food was. I will not order food from here again or a drink for someone not say with us if it means me having to get up with a mask and tray to take it to him myself.

Cracking pub for a burger and pint especially when football is on. Had buy 1 get 1 free on burgers tonight and great atmosphere despite COVID-19! looked after by team Pete shout out Cassi, Minna and Lauren fab team of hard workers.

What can I say we were greeted with a warm welcome COVID rules 100%folllowed and explained clearly, staff were amazing very helpful and cheerful. The food was excellent we would definitely visit again.

Very lucky to have The Lodge Alvaston close by. Excellent friendly service as always especially during the current COVID-19 restrictions, & this time Cassi couldn't do enough to assist even though we had her running backwards and forwards to our table.

I went to the lodge With some friends for some food and drinks and was greeted and looked after by a wonderful woman called Sarah Johnson. Sarah was very polite and caring with our food and made our stay very enjoyable.

One of the few pubs I visit locally. Well organised and covid compliant. Served by the always excellent Minna. Friendly and efficient.

I am a regular visitor of this pub & felt it was time to finally write a review! Visited today with my partner & child for food & as always received excellent service! I was served by the lovely Samantha today, whilst taking our order she took the time to engage in conversation with my little boy whilst all the time remaining very professional, an asset to your company! Food was served quickly & tasted great as always! Even in these uncertain times they remain as professional as ever & I’ll most certainly return again!

We popped in here today for a quick lunch, not been in for years. It happened to be steak day - how's that for perfect timing? For just £5 we had a good steak and everything on the plate was piping hot - that rarely happens at a pub chain (in my opinion).The place felt really safe, everyone was helpful and Cassi never stopped cleaning - everything that stopped still got sanitized!! Well done to everyone at The Lodge.

Had a very enjoyable visit and great seeing all social distancing measures being implemented and observed. The service was very attentive and professional. Would highly recommend. Natalie was our dedicated member of staff who was very polite and added to the experience we enjoyed.

We always come to the lodge as it is our local pub/restaurant and we are always impressed with the food and the staff! There are screen between tables and booths, and using the app means nobody is wandering around the restaurant. We were served by Saskia who was so lovely and polite, as all the staff are! Would 10/10 recommend the lodge to anyone! Top class service and food for reasonable prices

I visit the lodge on a regualr basis and the staff from team pete cassi,minna,ian and emma always look after us and are very friendly,the guidelines are clear to follow.

Visited the lodge today with my daughter for some lunch, we were greeted at the door and shown to our table and told about all the new rules in place. We ordered on the app and the waitress minna brought our food over, she very lovely and made sure we had everything we wanted/needed. The food was great and we had a good time we will be back again soon.

Not been to the lodge since the beginning of lockdown months ago but I am absolutely delighted to say they have nailed it. We were met at the door and guided through the new regs and shown to our table which we had pre booked. All food and drink orders were placed using the Green King app and it was very user friendly. Within minutes a very friendly and helpful waitress called Cassi brought out drinks and introduced herself. The food was good and surprisingly it felt like a pub,it had atmosphere obviously not the lodge of this time last year but nevertheless a pub which was a major plus. This is the new normal for however long it takes and I think it's as good as it could be until things get back to normal. In closing we felt safe, the staff looked after us and we enjoyed the evening and will return soon.

every1 is in the same boat with the covid thing but no need for over the top staff being rude , try and learn some proper table service even if people are only having a drink , try and make it nice atmosphere and just serve people how they do when ur on ur holidays abroad food or beer its so easy if u try a smile goes a long way

I pre booked a table for 2 people and visited today the 24th September. We were greeted at the door, invited to take two menus and were taken to our table by a pleasant and helpful young man who explained the new layout of entering and exiting. I had downloaded the app and we selected our drinks and food. Drinks came quickly and the food not long after, it was plentiful and hot. Its pub grub not haute cuisine but this is what this chain excels at. Waitress asked us if we would like coffees at the end of our meal and we paid by card for those. When not serving the team were constantly wiping down everywhere. Only 1 at a time to the toilet and there is an arrow you move to occupied when entering and to vacant upon exiting. All in all a lovely experience and fab staff, thank you.

If you like being spoken to like an invalid then this place is for you. As my first visit, and my mother’s second. She recommended this pub. We entered and was met by a young girl. She asked me to scan the COVID QR. Obviously I did, as per guidelines. We were taken to the table, as we were promptly marched there we were informed about the Greene King app. That it was more ‘convenient’. This waitress is paid to serve me. Why should I use an app? She has to deliver the drinks? She has had walked me to the table. Couldn’t she have taken a drinks order then? My mum explained that she hadn’t used the app before, but she will try. The girl continued then to lecture us about the convenience of this app. That it involves less contact. Yet 2 waiters came to check on our food. Two. That’s a lot of contact is it not? If we’re concerned for their staff then why are others repeating each other’s jobs? The app didn’t register the 2 for £10.99 deal so we required a waiter/ waitress. I know, what a hinderance. The food was basic, but cheap. Didn’t have any issues with the food. When it come to leaving this is what spurred me to write a review. As a group of three females. We went in search or the toilets on our way to the exit. We looked at the toilet door to which was shouted ‘No! One at a time!’ By a female worker behind the bar. None of us had progressed to the toilet. We literally had just eyeballed the door. I left my group and proceeded to another female toilet further down the bar. As I left the toilets. The same very bolshy girl was there and did something to the door. I presume it was a clean sign. But in a very over the top, angered manner. Quite frankly rude. The guidelines are not new, they are simple. They are not needed to be ordered at us. I do not wish to be treated like I am a few sandwiches short of a picnic.

We came to the lodge with friends a couple of weeks ago at lunchtime, we enjoyed the food so decided to book for my daughters birthday. We arrived slightly earlier than our time slot but were seated more or less straight away. The waiters and waitresses were fab at their job, can't fault them. However we were so disappointed with the food. Half of my husband's meal was missing, my fish was grey, the peas and mash were very dry, my husbands steak was tough. Maybe of the two times we visited there were different chefs but the second time we visited the chef was obviously cooking for QUANTITY not QUALITY.

The food is decent and the staff are really good (Cassi from Team Pete especially). Everything is explained and the precautions are reasonable and we'll thought-out. If you are anxious about how social distancing, etc. when going out, this would be an ideal place to go. The app for ordering is very good too (you can also order with staff if needed). All round, a pleasant afternoon out.

We have eaten at the Lodge for Sunday lunch in the past, and always found it to be very busy, but worth waiting for.Today though with the corona crisis the restaurant was quieter but certainly worth visiting. The whole area was very clean, tables spaced apart and lots of sign posting for safety and clarity.All the staff were smart, friendly and efficient, nothing was too much trouble, everything was explained to make our visit comfortable.The meals were delicious, bought to the table, hot and delicious. We had dessert and they were as good.We enjoyed this meal very much, the restaurant have made so much effort to keep a safe area and encourage diners back. We will certainly recommend them and of course eat there again.Thanks to all staff, Pete, Cassi, Sal, Irene, Minna ,Cammey, Matt and Alex, either serving, cooking or cleaning all of which was super efficient. Well done all of you.
