The Lobster Pot in East Riding of Yorkshire

We stayed at the adjacent Hotel for 2 days and used the Restaurant for breakfast each day and a couple of meals. The Bar and restaurant is very nice and staff welcoming and friendly. I will visit again when visiting Bridlington. Its a pity that public transport has stopped picking up there.

Lovely location, beer garden was immaculate. Attentive staff, and the food was lovely! Would deffo come back. Thank you!

I've been a few times in the recent months and every time the food and service have both been really good. I'd been years ago and really didn't rate it, but it's definitely improved beyond recognition. Our waitress Lindsey recommended the chicken Caesar salad and she was right, it was delicious! As were the cheesy mushrooms starter. The fact they have a separate dog friendly area is a massive bonus and should keep everyone happy, whether you're a dog lover or not. Will definitely be returning

We booked a table for 7.30 got to the restaurant and was told they had an issue with the bookings and there was no table, after a few minutes they managed to find us a table. We were staying in the hotel, this was ok but very noisy.

The restaurant was clean and a great space outside to eat or just enjoy a few drinks in the sunshine. Service was fast and efficient. The food was lovely, especially the Sunday dinner. Great spot for food and drinks with family or friends.

1 of the Cheese and bacon burgers was cold you could see that as the cheese wasn't even a bit melted. I didn't complain so left it as nobody came to see if everything was okay with meal

Food very poor quality burger full of gristle, soggy roast potato’s and only 2 small pieces of meat in pie and hair in another pie. Staff were good, and the bill was cancelled and we didn’t pay for anything

This is only the second time we have eaten here and since the new menu the food has improved immeasurably. The food was fantastic, the service was wonderful and the staff were polite and friendly. Hats off to them for stepping up.

Service was good and the place looks very nice . But the restaurant food is so bad is no words to describe it . Prawn cocktail came with literally ice called half frozen lettuce. All was spread on plate like for kid nowhere look like prawn cocktail. White bites over baked. Mains full disappointment . Seabass was over done and dry . Saying comes with king prawn when it is served with tiny prawn … so recommended pie came with mash potatoes from powder so disgusting and tasting powder starch wasn’t even suitable for pigs to feed . Pie dough was so hard nowhere close to how it was described . Baked potatoes with garlic and reseamarrry was just out of frozen pack square bakes without any flavour and definitely they have not seen any rosemary or garlic… Side vegetables was so long on water or steam to the level being more like water than any vegetables should be . Roasted carrot was so soft I would have to boiled for 1h without any salt or anything to achieve it stage … if you want feed hospital people over 80 years old without any flavour or texture they achieved it …

Great food, great staff and great carpark. What more could you ask for when looking for a place to eat. The food was amazing- halloumi fries for starters perfect. Mixed grill was perfect. I got the steak well done and it was still moist and delicious. Will definitely come back soon.

Disappointed. Booked a table for Easter Sunday and when we arrived was told that there was no more carvery left! Why take my booking if they don't order enough food?!? Had to find somewhere else last minute. Luckily found a good pub to fit us in. Try @the martonian inn

The famous pie was delicious, I had the signature burger, scrumptious, we will definitely go back again.

It was a horrible experience. Upon checking in we found the toilet not clean. We had to call multiple times to get through to the reception and they claimed to be busy to look into our complaint. We personally went to the reception to complaint, they were very rude and claimed to be busy even though they weren’t as there were not many customers in the restaurant. It was not worth the price. Do not recommend staying there.

We had a very disappointing experience from the moment we checked in. We arrived at 2:30 PM on April 20th and went straight to our room, only to find that the washroom had not been cleaned. When we tried to seek assistance, we were directed to contact the reception via the in-room phone—however, there was no phone in the room. As a result, we had to reach out to the hotel’s customer support team to report the issue. Surprisingly, their only response was that we needed to contact the hotel reception directly. This left me questioning the purpose of having a customer support team at all. When we finally managed to speak to the reception (located inside the restaurant), we were told, "We are really busy", and that they couldn't guarantee when the issue would be resolved, though they would "look into it." Being busy should be a staffing issue the hotel addresses internally—it should not be used as an excuse to justify poor service to customers. We then went to the reception in person to lodge the complaint once again. Unfortunately, the same response was repeated: "We are really busy." Despite this, we tried to be understanding and informed them that we would be stepping out and returning in 2 to 3 hours, expecting the washroom to be cleaned by then. Even then, the response remained unchanged—no guarantees, and no cleaning staff available. As a paying customer, it’s not my responsibility to manage the hotel’s operational issues. When it comes to collecting payment, customers aren’t given any flexibility—so we expect the same promptness when it comes to delivering the promised services. After about three hours, we returned to find that the room had finally been cleaned. However, the overall experience was far from satisfactory. I've also attached images for reference.

Came here with 3 children due to staying nearby in a log cabin. Sat outside when the sun was shining and we were still awaiting our food as the darkness came and it became cold. We waited over 1.5 hours for our food and By the time it was ready we needed to move inside, all 3 children were beyond tired and hungry. If the timing of food would of improved I'd of enjoyed the experience much better and it did ruin the experience slightly. Saying that a member of staff did apologise and gave us a free drink which was nice. I would reccomend visiting as the outdoor area is lovely and a little park for children BUT I'd go earlier and be prepared for a long wait. We did enjoy our food although portions weren't the biggest we were still satisfied.

We've had a lovely afternoon. The food and atmosphere were great. The staff were attentive, yet not overbearing.

We booked 5 rooms to stay over the weekend with family. The rooms were comfortable, clean and had everything we needed. The food was great, plenty of choice, served hot and good value for money. The grounds are kept well and the children loved the outside play area. The staff were fantastic, so friendly and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble and they made sure we were well looked after, a credit to the establishment.

The best food i have had for a very long time, we booked in for the final meal before we come home after a superb holiday in the area. Staff were excellent and the food choices were superb and the burger i had was out this world, my daughter loved the gravy with the chicken burger. We will be back again one day when we are next in the area.

Came for evening meal and drinks Very accomadating. STEAK very nice cooked as orded Lasagne also very nice Portion bit small for price but cooked well and very tasty..

The food is OK. Better at lunchtime really. Good selection of drinks and friendly staff. Nice big outside area full of sunshine. Dogs allowed in a small area inside. Reasonable prices

Food was fine, just what you would expect in a pub. No issues at all with food. Service was awful, forgetting orders, had to be asked to clear plates when desserts came. It was only early and fairly quiet when we went in, as we neared end and it was busier service went to pot, headless chickens spring to mind. Lots of people complaining. Needs a manager to teach them how service should be done and organise them. I wouldn't recommend because of this, shame really as food and pub were fine

We sat in the dog friendly area so ordered at the bar. Staff were friendly and attentive, and despite being a table of 12 ordering separately, all of our meals arrived at the same time. The set weekend menu was good value £28 for 3 courses Mixed food reviews amongst our party - starters well received alongside the “main” part of main meals - however sides (eg veg, chips) were under/overcooked for some people

Staying at the Marston Inn, their onsite accomodation and just had a meal at the Lobster Pot. Wow! Lovely friendly atmosphere... served by a very nice young chap didnt catch his name. Ordered the Sirloin, Camembert sharer (out of this world 😋) Sticky Chicken and Halloumi fries. All absolutely superb. The only small critism is for £20 for an 8oz maybe a better salad as there was very little on the plate but other than that delicious. Guy on the bar on arrival and lady when we left both lovely, disappointed were only staying the one night 🤣

I have revised my previous review in which I gave a good rating Called today for a birthday lunch we had the five ounce steak the chips were good all five of them they must be using cherry tomatoes and a tablespoon full of pea shutes the stead was tough The service when you could find someone was slow twenty minutes after ordering a brownie with ice-cream I had to ask at the bar where it was and was informed that they were on with it and on arrival received the apology that there was only one shef in and they were concentrating on main meals It's a brownie on a saucer with a scoop of ice cream! Very disappointed

Disappointing all round in honesty. Nobody came to take our order for 20 minutes, in the end we had to go to the bar ourselves. During this point many other parties who had arrived after us, had orders being taken and delivered. We were told that two of the options for Sunday dinner were sold out, which was one of the main reasons we booked in the first place. Ordered the turkey toast, which was pretty dry. The roast potatoes were definitely old ones which has been reheated and did not taste good. Veg and Yorkshire were excellent. Definitely needed more gravy, which was provided, but has a very vinegar like taste. Charged extra for a kids Yorkshire pudding on their Sunday dinner, as apparently it doesn't come with it, yet no mention of this on the menu. Has to return 2 pints to the bar as they smelled awful. Bar and serve staff were very polite throughout and could help enough.No issues with exchanging those bad beers. It's a shame really as we've been here before and really enjoyed it, but this time around it was very disappointing

We’ve been coming to the Lobster Pot for a number of years off and on and it’s always just been ok at best. The last 6 months or so they’ve really stepped up their game. Our last couple of visits have been absolutely fabulous! Always greeted with a smile, beautiful and cosy atmosphere… and the food, what can I say, it was absolutely faultless. The addition of a new head chef and a warm and caring manager have turned this place around. Great job team!!

Food was very undercooked, prices are outrageous, 1 pint of cider and a pint of shandy for £11.05 is a bit steep.

Amazing service from the staff, it was busy, however it wasn’t reflected in service or standards, shout out to the main host, he was friendly and welcoming. Food was the best I’ve had since I’ve visited. Our family as a whole all enjoyed. Will be back soon. Thank you A*

We would recommend this place without hesitation. We stayed for one night and ate in the restaurant in the evening and for breakfast the next day. Food was spot on, the service was attentive and friendly, the room was clean and comfortable and with an 11am checkout we had a leisurely start to the day. Can't fault it!

Booked the dog friendly area. It was packed with dogs but the staff were so friendly and efficient- and made us and our dogs feel so welcome. Speedy service and the food was great. Really enjoyed it!

Went last week for the first time, got my order completely wrong, asked gor no mayo, they added mayo , asked for steak cooked no pink, sent back, second time... still pink, cannot eat if no cooked to my asking.... disaster. Hubby's food was all ok. So if you're ok with food as it comes, they can do that.

9n my 1st visit everything was spot on and I'd say really good value. 2nd visit very disappointed. Ordered an omelette. Well it looked like it had been scraped off the kitchen floor. When I told the guy he said the chef had made it with cheese slices. Wow just wow.

Went for a meal tonight, the atmosphere was lovely, the food was excellent and the service was very friendly.

Came to Lobster Pot for a meal for my mums birthday. Friendly service. Starters came out quite quick, was very nice. Had a bit of a wait for mains but more customers had come in in the meantime. Mains were lovely, plently of different veg on roast dinner.

Me and my partner went out for tea, Servers didnt seem happy from the moment we walked in made it abit off putting to spend money here, Was pricy had a mixed grill, i didn't really injoy it to be honest everything just tasted the same, and they wasnt alot there didnt look like a ussual mixed grill, was expecting more, i had mixed grill the previous week at another place in town and enjoyed that alot more was hungry a few hours later we had 1 drink each and 1 meal each, 60 pound won't say it's not a nice place, because it really does stand out inside and out

Went here with my wife, our 1st visit. Ordered from the three course Weekend treat menu. I had Mushrooms, Sea Bass, apple cherry crumble all were spot on. My wife however had a less than great experience. Aperol spritz all soda very little proccecco Halloumi sticks ordered with no mayo came with mayo but no chilli jam. Main, ordered steak really well done no pink Was pink so sent back, came back still pink so it was left. Not sending for a third go on the grill. Was offered 20% off for the trouble, nice we thought, but it was taken off the full price not the amount due from the weekend menu.saved £4.00 We just left as it was clear they just didn't get it. Shame as it is handy for our holiday home and are there every weekend. Edit: Thank you, but I'll not bother. To help you out though, the correct spritz is 3 parts Prosecco, 2 parts Aperol and a splash of soda. Slice of orange is a nice touch but probably too much to expect at the Lobster Pot.

Came for tea tonight Friday as we're staying at south cliff and it's our sons 12th birthday. The food was lovely, my sons who had not been feeling too good was now bouncing off the walls after having paracetamol and ate a e course adults meal! The waiter whose name I think was nathan was fantastic, and even gave us a lovely discount. Will always return now thank you 😊

Food amazing, especially the chocolate melt in the middle pudding. We were waiting quite a while for both courses, but definitely worth waiting for.

We waited 10 minutes for our drinks order and 90 minutes for our food to arrive. When it came, I was given the wrong burger. Despite planning to stay for dessert and a cocktail, after such a long wait we just wanted to eat and leave, and were actually about to give up and go seconds before the food finally arrived. We were offered complimentary drinks (and a 30% discount) for the trouble, but the waitress only waited for one of us to order before rushing off. Also, The table did not have the drinks menu when we arrived and had not been properly cleaned. Judging by lots of other recent reviews, this seems to be an ongoing issue and none of the responses from the company indicate a plan for improvement - just a “sorry, we usually have high standards” type thing. It seems very understaffed and poorly managed. I hope that this review is properly taken into account, as it has a lovely atmosphere, friendly staff, good menu, and great gluten free menu. It’s just a shame that management seems to have been consistently letting the side down. If you have been out on a long beach/exploration day, I unfortunately wouldn’t recommend this place due to the unreliability of the service and the long wait you are likely to have.

Today we had 2 Sunday beef Sunday roasts. They were awful. The sirloin beef was overcooked. Very tough. Everything had a strange taste including potatoes and Yorkshire Pudding. Even the gravy tasted odd. If the gravy had been ok I would have ordered some gravy for the Yorkshire Pudding. .However we were not even offered gravy for the Yorkshire Puddings Honestly it surely can’t be this bad normally as it was fully booked. Something must have been wrong tiday

I came to lobster pot today with my partner been many times before today was very disappointing we popped in didn't book a table but they did get us one quite quickly thank you for that got to order food looking forward to Sunday lunch nothing left at 1 30 not good enough for me and then tried to order three more things nothing left not happy then ordered hunters chicken twice got one hunters chicken and burger not happy again it's Sunday guys people go out for Sunday lunch not to get one at 1 30 very wrong In my eyes might come back but not any time soon felt very sorry for staff because they where very good

I don’t do reviews often but thought been as we’ve been going for a few years, we sat down at around 1.35 pm on Sunday, but disappointed that we weren’t told that the Sunday Roast was all sold out ! Before we sat down 😟 No pies and hardly anything else on the menu. To me Sunday Roast should be available until at least 4pm and very popular pies shouldn’t run out at all😟 The staff were pleasant even though I wasn’t particularly happy and that’s not me normally tho I travelled 25 miles to get there. I just hope that things can improve in future🫢 We will come back tho because it’s a lovely place and the food when it arrives is actually good. Phil & Fay

Really friendly professional service and great food. Dog friendly and made to feel really welcome as soon as we entered.

Service was indifferent at best. Ordered at table as we had two dogs with us. Dessert took 30mins so I had to get up and ask for it. I was greeted with a look that said ‘ oh ok ‘, and then we were served dessert with our dinner plates still on the table; which we had to stack ourselves. I always carry cash for a tip. I still have it!

Update 6** now, loving the new menu. We had tea last night, 3 courses, lovely staff, food was excellent!!!, loving the Lobster Pot. We're local and visit with our 2 dogue de bordeaux. Always made welcome. Friendly, polite staff. Great service. Nicely cooked food. Good value for money.

Horrendous. Super rude and argumentative waitress. Food only warm and half missing. (Medley of greens = soggy green beans. No peas, kale, mangetout etc.) No lemon with the fish, which was described as pan fried, but came out soggy with wet, limp skin. Wrong sauce on the hunters chicken, which the waitress also argued about! It was clearly tomato sauce, not BBQ, but she was adamant that the menu said tomato. She also argued this with a different table. When we mentioned our concerns, we just got a backlash of shockingly rude backchat from the waitress. We were speechless! Soggy crumble which was barely 2 mouthful...and nearly £7! The beer was room temperature and flat, not even cellar temp as cask ale should be... shocking from a Marstons owned pub. Not even an apology from the waitress, just a pay your bill and go away attitude...all £140 of it! Very expensive for poor quality food and drinks.

Waited well over an hour for 6 Sunday roasts. Inconsistency with what was on the plate. The beef was not nice at all and we gave it to our dog. The staff were not at all bothered that we had waited so long and kept sending different people to say we were still waiting.

Waited 40 minutes for our meal even though it was quiet, not much choice and at 5pm on a Sunday only lamb left for a roast which is poor planning. Yorkshire practically flat, veg tasteless and watery. Cocktail in very small glass which did not reflect the price. Very disappointed all round.

Pub was half full on a Monday night and took 70min to arrive from ordering for two meals, another 30 min wait for the dessert to arrive. Very poor atmosphere and average to poor food. Avoid

visited the lobster pot on the 15th of February with my partner, the staff was very friendly, we both ordered the scampi which was served promptly but the portion sizes was shocking maybe 6 chips an egg cup of peas and maybe 6 scampi this cost us 13,99 each

Waited 40 mins for our food even though it was quiet, Sunday roast was barely warm and the veg was watery and tasteless, Yorkshire pudding was practically flat. My partner had fish and chips which was dry and the peas looked like they had been kept warm for ages. Also had an aperol spritz which was in a small wine glass definitely not worth over £8! Very disappointed will not return.

Had a query with the Bill after being told of another by a member of staff. Eventually the lady who wanted payment came back with £20 deduction. She didn’t say anything except pushed the card machine at one of my friends, took payment and walked off without any acknowledgment or thank you. Not good service.

Small portions or what, thought I had a kids meal for £14.95 for hunters chicken, thought it was a budgie on my plate with two small rashes of bacon hiding the chicken breast. More chips than chicken and handful of lettuce. Had this dish at other Marston pubs and was more on your plate. Definitely won't be returning to this pub again. 😒

Dropped in for a bite to eat on the way home. In time for the early bird special. Great value three course meals, smaller choice than the main menu but enough to please most palates. Friendly service, lovely food, well presented and freshly cooked. Relaxed and welcoming atmosphere means we are regular customers.

1st time today, happy to allow dogs but was a very limited menu no steaks gammon chicken, it was a case of what do you have. We both had bacon and cheese beef burgers was actually very nice, abit on expensive side for a chain pub. I would definitely try again hopefully with a full menu. Bar staff was friendly I did feel sorry for her having to explain to everyone that nearly all the menu was out of stock

Lovely Sunday roast, we called in from a cold walk along the beach the team were so kind and friendly nothing was too much to ask the chefs are a big credit to the team aswell will definitely be back !!!

The pub was awful. No chicken burger. No sirloin steak. No mixed grill. No chicken strips. No hawkstone beer. Everything we asked for they didn't have. It felt empty but the wait for food was long. Portions were not massive. Ordered sausage and mash which said on menu served with bacon and green beans. There was no bacon. The green beans were hardly any and mixed with peas and mange tout. Not enough gravy. It was just poor. Staff were friendly . Hotel was clean. Food overpriced. Portions small. Cobwebs in the restaurant

Only 2 people serving but they did a cracking job. Food was great. We had a lovely time.

Very disappointed with the food quality been very poor to say that the place was very quiet. Steak pies were cold and the chips very anemic and peas dried up as though they had been keep under heat lamps too long. The hunters chicken was over cooked and dry. Our party opted for a dessert and wished that they hadn't. The staff member who served us reached over us to pass food to the the people on the otherside of the table instead of walking round to them and not the most pleasant of odours. We will not be returning as feel that it was a waste of over £60 on food alone.

This place is just a joke. We went on a Saturday ( already left feedback for that visit) and then we went last night. We were greeted by a young man who was very pleasant but quite obviously stressed, we had booked so he sat us at our table, we were then greeted by a surly miserable young woman, who asked if we wanted drinks which we did, so when she came back she read off a great long list of stuff they didn’t have. No steaks, no chicken, no mixed grill and on it went, so i asked why on earth don’t you just close if you haven’t got anything on the menu; I know it wasn’t her fault but her attitude didn’t help as we were by then already annoyed by the whole set up, I appreciate it’s the week between Christmas and new year and things are tricky but you are a massive chain, this shouldn’t happen and then be even more wound up by miserable staff….. we definitely wont be going back

Booked for 3 courses boxing day never been so disappointed mushroom starter overcooked, main cold and roast potatoes were more like boiled. We had preordered christmas pudding but was told none left. Asked to speak to manager but sent waitress to deal with problem. We spent £80 in total and have never been so disappointed.

Having been seated we asked if anything was not available and were told that there were 6 items on the menu that were not! Including fish and chips, steak pies, sirloin steak and lasagna (we could not even see the lasagna on the menu). The rib-eye was tough the burger over peppered. Ordering at the bar was interrupted when the server decided to check someone into the hotel other staff just passed by without making eye contact or saying someone will be wit you shortly. All in all we feel the Lobster Pot let them selves down.

Stayed overnight to visit relatives over Christmas we were let in a timely fashion the room was lovely and clean and we even had a Christmas card and cracker left from housekeeping. Thanks for a lovely stay.

Grim, is a fair word for the Lobster pot. Service is among the very slackest I have ever encountered. No urgency in the staff whatsoever. The place was not even a quarter full but still took just over an hour to receive our starters. Then overheard a customer complaining of a lemon tart still partially frozen and a chocolate brownie under done. That's when we really started to wonder why we bothered to retry this place 2 yrs later. Burgers were fine ,very edible. But no coleslaw accompanying any dish. My daughters macaroni cheese was substandard, served up in a shallow dish which must have been left under the heat lamp for an age. Very crusty and hard. The bread was nice though. Basically I couldn't even bother to complain as the staff had very little interest in trying to make our visit enjoyable at the least, so felt like I would be banging my head against the wall. Paid up and walked, no more Marstens. Will say though you have a lovely big carpark.
