One of the best fish n chip shops I’ve ever been to. Moved to the area recently and since then I’ve gone multiple times. Every time I’ve been the place has been spotlessly clean and the food has been great quality (I usually have a large cod or haddock with chips, the fish is always a great size and beautifully cooked and the chips are great too). On top of that, the service is second to none. Both of the owners are genuinely lovely people and give off such a natural friendliness and they seem to really care about the food they produce. One time my housemate and I went not long before a close and were even given extras as the owner didn’t want to waste the food that had already been cooked. I can’t recommend the place more.

Top class Fish & chip. Superb taste, crisp and light batter. Generous portions. Fantastic taste and super fantastic customer service. We went there near their closing time but they still served us with freshly cooked food. Their chicken is halal, So extra benefit for Muslims.

I ate there with my family on Thursday this week. It was our last day in England and we just had to eat fish and chips when we were in England. We come from Germany and I've had good chips before, but these were the best I've ever had. The fish was amazing too. The people were really nice and served us really well. If I'm ever in Brighton again, I'll eat there again. I can only recommend it.

Chips tasted good and weren't greasy. Batter lovely and light. Didn't like the Yorkshire fishcake - indeterminate fish sandwiched between two whole slices ofspud in nice batter. Cod was quite small and chips had black bits and scraps. There were three staff, I was the only customer (except for a couple of collections) but it took 15 mins before they started cooking mine. They need to sort out their system, have the basics cooked and ready. They need to be able to cook more than one order at a time. Quite pricey, but the menu does look very good. visited Bella Italia in the Lanes. The restaurant is a little tired and the menu a little tatty, however the choice was good, and the service great. My meal started with the dough sticks with a butter and garlic dip, my friend and I got the size for 2 to share, but this was far too much as a starter, a single portion would have been more than sufficient. The main course we both went for the pasta with beef and mushrooms marinated in red wine, although delicious the meat was tough. I am not sure if I would go here again as there as many restaurants to choose from in the Brighton Lanes.

Was disappointed as cancelled a booking elsewhere after we spotted this cosy looking little restaurant, was greeted by a rude waiter who saw us to our table, we picked up the menus that were on the table (Didn't immediately realise these were breakfast menus) the waiter then snatched them from our hands and said well unless you're here for breakfast (was about 9pm) When serving our food he would just drop our plates onto the table just came across quite rude and abrupt until towards the very end of the evening he changed his attitude and was very polite and friendly when it came to giving us the bill (I can only assume because this would be the stage where we decide to leave a tip or not) the food itself was good, I'm not a huge fan of bruscetta anyway but I've certainly had better, my main on the other hand was very pleasant but unfortunately the atmosphere killed the evening for us, just felt quite uncomfortable.

Went there as my local fish and chips was closed. Not impressed. Mushy peas were uneatable. Fish and chips tasted of not exactly fresh cooking oil, but just about ok.

Fresh food, very tasty, big portion. Chips is amazing. Portion fish and chips comes in a box (not like on the most places just with paper which gets oily) and they place it in a bag for more convenient. Stuff are very nice, young people. Very good quality of the food.

Nice little chippie selling lots of tasty vegan options including all vegan sauces. Good to know all the vegan fried food is fried in a separate fryer to other non vegan products. Reasonably priced and massive portions. My fave is the battered vegan sausage and chip buttie. Friendly staff. On Deliveroo too.

There was a mistake in the order but The Little Fish and Chip shop quickly resolved it with excellent service. Would recommend for food and service.

Been wanting to try this place for ages and finally did today. Did not disappoint, the battered bratwurst is inspired and hands down the best chip shop chips I've had for years. Home pickled egg was awesome and the guys were great to chat to. Go here.

The chips are great, thin, golden, crispy, fluffy and cooked to perfection, curry sauce is banging 10/10 home brewed thick. Everything is of the upmost quality going to start eating a lot more fish and chips now this beauty is round the corner

I live a 3 minute walk from The Little Fish & Chip Shop but in the 18 months I've lived in the area, March was the first time I tried their delicious cuisine. The customer service was fast and friendly and I really enjoyed my cod and chips. I've been back a second time and today will be my third. Note that I'm not a big takeaway fan because I try to stay healthy, however, being a South African living in the UK now for nearly 4 years, I thought I should try fish and chips as it's a traditional dish here and I'm trying to fit in...somewhat! Brightonians seem to strive to stand out. Maybe one day I'll be brave enough to. :-)

Top quality F&S, not the cheapest in the area but undoubtedly the best

Delicious chips, and the fish was lovely - you can tell the quality. However, the batter was quite greasy for the fish (for our tastes) and the tofu, although the batter was much better, wasn't marinated so tasted like tofu (bland)! Also realised I like cheap and cheerful tartar and mushy peas and although the quality and freshness of ingredients was clear, it didn't do it for me. Customer service and atmosphere just waiting for our order was excellent. Will definitely go back if we just want a bag of chips, but not for a fish supper.

I love this place for fish lovers and vegans alike. The Tofish is a great idea. A suggestion though: as tofu is a bland flavour could it be marinaded beforehand to make it even more special? The homemade tartar sauce and smoky battered vegan sausage are sublime!

But also GREAT fish and amazing chips, and lots of interesting veggie and non-veggie options to choose from For me and my veggie partner this is now the only chippy we'd go to! We have had two takeaways and have been really impressed with every order. Chips are the best we have had, well cooked and not greasy. Fish and the squid were lovely too. Would highly recommend.

Game changer. We are a little late to the party but heard of the vegan menu so popped over on a Friday and joined the queue. Guess we weren't the only ones to hear about the magic! Faced with an array of choices we got pretty much everything on the vegan menu. Tofish, Banana Blossom 'fish', large chips, tartare sauce (yes vegan), mushy peas and curry sauce. They have changing weekly specials and a battered non sausage too. All delicious. I would recommend a different day to Friday just so you dont have to queue for too long but it is totally worth the wait.

Wonderful fish and chips and some brilliant vegan options, too!

This recently refurbished fish and chip shop is really good. I'm sitting here with a big smile on my face. The cod was soft and juicy, the chips perfectly done with some soft and fluffy and some lovely and crispy. Very generous portions. Kids portion was big enough for an adult, adult's portion was nearly big enough for two. Staff were friendly and professional. Good prices too. The specials sounded nice too. Sold for take away in boxes, as is the trend. They have tofu versions of fish cutlets too. If you still have the capacity of empathy in times like this. I mainly chose to get a take away because I have become rather dejected of late; I tire of cooking a wholesome and nutritious meal every day, the washing up sometimes seems like too great a task, that sort of thing. But I am perked right up after this delicious meal. I read once that potatoes offer almost if not fully complete nutrition. Hard not to buy into that notion when the chips are this good. Only sorry I had to stop to save some for my partner.

It is refreshing to visit a fish and chip shop that has the veggie/vegan options that this little gem has. As someone who has to avoid eating fish, this is probably the best place i could go for different options. The banana blossom was fab,there were fried pickles, cauliflower wings, jackfruit. A great selection. The chips were fab too. Very fresh and crispy. And the fish was great too. My partner had a lovely piece of haddock. And it was all served by friendly and happy staff. Will be returning soon!

Just had fish, chips and mushy peas. Faultless. Was slightly cynical cos the chips are skinnier than what I would deem 'normal' chippy chips but they were soooo tasty. The batter was light and I dunno what they do to their mushies but it's something very very good. This place is head and shoulders above everywhere else I've tried and I'll undoubtedly be going back.

The owners obviously have a passion for quality ingredients and food that is prepared with passion and love. This is fish and chips shop offers the basics... chips and battered fish that is fresh, crunchy and superbly prepared. So the basics are great and show the high standard of the offering.... but it’s the alternative dishes, like the Japanese style salmon with rice middle salad that out this fishy on another level! Absolutely delicious and the owners are to be commended and thanked for taking the humble chippy to the next level!

Ordered 2 haddock & chips for my wife’s birthday, but then swapped one baddy haddy for the Japanese-style salmon! OMG! DIFFERENT LEVEL! Marinaded in Japanese spices & gently deep fried in a cornflour batter & served with a super-delish rice noodle salad! Sick! [In the new sense tho, please understand!] Sooo good & so was the haddock: delicate, light & with a very classy batter. And the chips is wicked bruv, issit tho?! The owners & staff are lovely too. Awesome meal at a decent price from a little diamond of a place (that is conveniently situated on the way home from my favourite pub), fish & chip shops on this side of Brighton tend to be a bit old school but this place nails it with it's top vegan options. Fabulous food, asked for cod and chips and got whale and chips. Curry sauce was the best I've ever had.

First time I've tried this place. Have lived in Brighton for many years and tried many many Fish and Chip shops. But this was incredible! Hands down, best Fish burger i've ever had. Probably the best Burger I've had. (Sorry Burger Brothers!) Would 100% recommend trying.

Great fish and excellent chips. The special Cod Murray is very tasty. Highly recommended. We will be back!

Heard some good reviews of the new ownership of this place and that they provide vegan options so we thought we'd give it a try. Our child thoroughly enjoyed the fish bites and my f'illet o fish' was delicious. My husband (the vegan) opted for a tofu red curry burger and gave it full marks. The portion sizes are generous so next time we'll share chips. Please ignore the negative reviews below as they refer to the previous ownership. Finally, they take cards unlike our other Hollingdean chippy. We'll definitely go again.

Made a trip from town up to the lil fish n’ chip shop and our taste odyssey paid right off. The vegan and veggie offerings were satisfying and well conceived. The banana blossoms, tofish and jackfruit nuggets were all hits at our table and the posh chips were heavy goodness. The cod burger was perfect and pleased the fish eater no end. Served with a smile and helpful guidance on the menu. Lovely
