Carvery was excellent with a good choice of vegetables. Staff were very good Grace, Faye and Vicky. Thank you for a lovely evening with family and friends

The food was average but I wasn't expecting 5 stars as with Marstons I know it's all "ping and ding" as its nicknamed. That wasn't a problem as its quite nice considering. What I do have a problem with is the drinks price! Over £5 for 1 drink is a joke considering that the people in the chesterfield area as a majority are working class citizens, and the end result is average food, and worse drinks served in glasses that aren't correct for the brand (which is a big no no knowing that after 20 years in the pub industry). The service was fine, people i actually know. BUT, overall a sub par experience and left £200 down for 4 adults 2 kids and only 2 rounds!!!! That, that i take problem with!!! Keep the voucher, reduce the drinks prices at least! Please for the love of God!!!

A fantastic Sunday Carvery, at a very reasonable price. The Staff were attentive, friendly & professional. Definitely worth a return visit.

I marked the food down but solely because it was sunday and i imagine the focus is on the carvey. The prenetation wasnt great but it still hit the spot and was very tasty. I had loaded fries, id still reccomend them.

Appalling! Told there would be a 10 minute wait, after 10 mins told it would be another 5 Minutes, 50 minutes later, as I was about to ask for a refund, we were told the carvery was ready, but not the Yorkshire puddings. The beef was so tough, the turkey was just an end I would give to my dog which left gammon, not on I would pick but by this time I would have eaten anything. This is the second time in succession I have had cause for complain! Step up guys this used to be a wonderful place to eat!

Awful service which let down the decent food. Staff draining lines while customers waited for over 20 mins to be served. Surely serving customers would have been more productive then keeping one draught on sale. Not all staff were poor, young lad who looked after our table was good along with the very pleasant lady at the carvery.

The staff were very polite and helpful it was straight forward from ordering a drink to ordering the food, the food from the menu arrived after a short time, we had to wait a short time to be served at the carvery counter and the food was hot and tasted lovely will be back for more

Even though pub wasn't busy, had to wait 45 mins for meals. Two meals came 10 mins after 1st one, that wasn't good . Food wasn't hot, only the fries. Pitta bread was solid (maybe overcooked?) which I couldn't cut up at all or eat when I picked it up. We all left half of our food for these reasons, so will never come back. Potions were small also.👍

Friendly, helpful staff who were very pro-active in helping us get situated with our son near the play area. The food was excellent and great value for money. We will be back again soon.

The food was fantastic and the staff were very nice. It's the first time we have been and it was quite Inside. But it was a lovely change because you wasn't queuing for food and it was lovely evening to celebrate my sons 18th birthday

A very pleasant lunch for New Year’s Day! We chose to have the carvery and it was very tasty. I’m surprised it wasn’t busier however this meant there were no queues which is always a plus. There were quite a few things out of stock which did impact our meal slightly. But overall it was an enjoyable experience.

Absolutely lovely food, comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. Dawn and Faye were amazing and attentive, made us feel very welcomed. Highly recommend and would definitely be coming again.

Arrived to find despite receiving email to say booking confirmed large set man on door told me with attitude we didn't have a booking, we were then shown to a sticky table in the family area. Cutlery and napkins were thrown onto table and he stomped off. Ordered 4 meals 2 orders of 2 sent at exactly same time via the app, one order came out immediately the other 15 mins later after having to ask why there was a delay. When we were trying to order desert we were told all the cakes bar 1 in the display case weren't real simply there for display. The entire team working that night were sullen and grumpy like everything was too much trouble. The restaurant was not busy and staff stood around chatting. When we had finished our food we decided to stay and catch up for a while and repeated visits to table to clear glasses etc when not finished felt like we were being a nuisance and should leave so they could have an early finish. Definitely would not recommend to anyone unless you want rude sullen service with a venue that felt dirty and sticky. The mens toilets were grubby and floor wet from possible leak under urinals clearly noone has any standards of hygiene or customer care at this venue!

Worst carvery ever had. Rude staff. The stuffing was so dry and over cooked I refused it. I asked if there was any more and was told no 15 min wait. So thought ok no worries. Sat down and then the fresh stuffing came out. The gravy was watery and tasteless. It was just like brown tap water. Only popped in because was doing a long drive with the family and will definitely avoid this place when we pass it next time.

Such a lovely place, warm, welcoming and the staff are amazing, so friendly and helpful, the food was delicious and they do tea with caffeine 🤣 we would certainly recommend to anyone, it truly is delightful.

Came here for Christmas Day meal with family. Atmosphere was great, food was good and service was excellent. Big shout out to our table server Tyron who was polite, efficient and nothing too much trouble. He really helped make our day special! Thank you

We visited here for a carvery on Sunday. We can't knock the food or service both were excellent. Whats the reason for only 3 stars then I hear you ask. Well the price of the drinks. I know everything's gone up but we were charged £5.10 for a single Archers and splash of lemonade. If we'd bought two we could have just about got a bottle of Archers from a supermarket. My advice if you go for food is stick to tap water!

First visit! Enjoyed the Christmas menu 🎄this week. Starter was fine, carvery was fab! Hot and tasty, served with a generous helping of great banter with chef! Disappointed sticky toffee pudding wasn’t served with custard, however it was still delicious. Will be back.. Thank you!

Friendly service polite and efficient great food great prices

Went in this afternoon for a carvery for me and 3 others. Firstly the table and the bar surface was very sticky and when getting the food there was only turkey and what was left of beef scraps no gammon. The quality of the food was dire at best. I've been going here every now and then since it opened and was really good when it first opened but after today I will not be returning. It is a real shame.

5 staff stood around but no body serving too busy talking food was OK .

Great service tonight. We were a large party, and we were looked after from the moment we arrived. The front of house gent was very pleasant as were the waitresses and bar staff. These guys do a great burger too. Will be back.

All of the staff were friendly, polite and courteous througout our visit, from the lady at the welcome desk to the bar staff, carvery staff and waiters/waitresses that were clearing tables. What particularly stood out was a moment when we were at the carvery counter. Sara had served my 14 year old son but as he was helping himself to vegetables he dropped his plate, which smashed at his feet. He was horrified and really worried. Sara was amazing with him. She kept him calm and reassured him that it was ok whilst quickly sorting a replacement meal for him. She couldn't have been any more lovely and professional about the situation and it really put his mind at rest. A job very professionally well done to a very high standard. The food was great and overall our experience was really good thanks.

Carvery is very good price and all the meats cooked perfectly. But veg was very poor and potatoes like little rocks Worst of all the building was very cold. Had to sit in our coats to eat our meal. Overall disapointing

We like Little Castle as it’s local to us and more importantly it’s dog friendly, all the staff know our two Bedlington terriers and make a fuss of them which is lovely, they get dog biscuits and a bowl of water, the staff are great, always friendly and this is the main reason that we keep coming back, today Tyron looked after us, but as I said all the staff are lovely, thank you guys, especially from Eric and Stanley

Not the best. Marstons beer battered fish was nothing like the same dish at other pubs, the batter was hard. Chips were good, dodged the tartar sauce as I didn't fancy a dose of salmonella, it had a thick skin on it which wouldn't break even when poked. Who knows how long that had been sat out for. For a Saturday tea time it was very quiet.

First time been to this pub and was thoroughly impressed. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming. The food was all cooked perfectly and had a good selection. Also the best Yorkshire pudding had for a while at a carvery. Usually you get those awful frozen Aunt Bessie rubbish but these were quite large and home made! I will recommend the place to others and will definitely be going back

We visited for the second time because the food is plentiful and warm, Sunday Carvery for 5 and the staff are friendly and helpful. You can time it to avoid the queues for the carvery. Two of our party ordered from the menu and indicated that they would order the meals again in the future.

Food was average We were served at the bar by someone with a LGBT rainbow lanyard which our group found distasteful and excluding of us. We didn’t feel comfortable as a result. Someone’s sexual preferences have no place in a family pub. Plus it’s too political and shouldn’t be allowed. Edit - the reply from the owner shows the complete contempt for customers!

I frequently use this establishment for meals with family and friends. Today the wife and I popped down for convenience and are really pleased we did. Fantastic carvery

Impromptu visit. Never been before but pleasantly surprised

Lovely carvery today, they had green beans and cabbage on today which were lovely. staff are always very friendly and helpful. Bonus is we can take our dogs too, the staff always make a fuss of the dogs, they have treats and a doggie menu.

The steak was too tough to cut and eat. The fish and chips were nice.

Tried to book a table for Sunday lunch and website said could not be booked but tables were available 13:00 and 13:30 so drove quite a way to be told by staff they were fully booked and weren't interested at all in accommodating us ,not interested when we told them about the website either ,bad staff and bad website

Food was good but extremely slow service

The staff are really friendly and happy to help if we have any questions about the menu. We have been to several similar establishments in our area, however we always find our way back to The Little Castle. Bravo to the staff for being so friendly and helpful.
