Sue who was our direct server was lovely and really attentive, found the lady at the carvery helpful. However when there was a problem with our drinks order the staff at the bar were very unhelpful and one lady in particular was very rude.

Modern space, quick service and reasonably priced meals. Lovely attention for my son from Sue.

Food really good , pleasantly surprised . Served by a young lad called Tyron who was very helpful and polite as was the lad serving the carvery.. we will definitely be back ..

Little castle is a lovely place for food bit on the pricey side but worth it.Had the carvery today and Tyron was customer focused with all the people eating and checking up on us.

Food is excellent and so are the drinks. A vast improvement from our first visit 15 months ago, service was first class and quick. Staff were friendly and attentive, could not fault them 👍 And it's dog friendly

We visited for the second time because the food is plentiful and warm, Sunday Carvery for 5 and the staff are friendly and helpful. You can time it to avoid the queues for the carvery. Two of our party ordered from the menu and indicated that they would order the meals again in the future.

Great for a group or family get together as there were plenty of larger tables. Plenty of parking and a play park for younger guests too.

Absolutely excellent meal and dessert at Little Castle today. We were made to feel very welcome by Amanda and Vicky. Top quality customer service provided and they never stopped, always on top of everything and kept everywhere spotless. Me and my husband both had a carvery and the food was beautiful, thank you to Nathan and Grace for cooking everything to perfection. Really lovely atmosphere too. Definitely recommend the chocolate brownie sundae if you can fit it in! Overall a fantastic experience and we will definitely be back. Thank you

The carravery was terrible no meat only dried out scraggy ends and poor and tired vegetables customet service was terrible, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

We had a fantastic meal at Little castle , and a huge part of that was thanks to Sue, who looked after us so well. She was warm, friendly, and incredibly patient with the kids, making sure they had everything they needed and even bringing a few extra smiles to the table! It’s not always easy dining out with little ones, but Sue made the experience so much more enjoyable. The food was great, but the service was even better.

Originally not living in the area we found this place by accident. Since September we have visited here on several occasions whilst going up & down the M1. Sarah & Jake made us so welcome on our first visit even though we had a large Alaskan Malamute with us. Not many places except dogs but The Little Castle was exceptional with us all. We now make it our number ONE destination to stop for a meal here as we find everything from the service, food quality to friendliness of all the staff outstanding. I would definitely recommend it for anyone, whether it's for family, friends or a welcome stop on your travels.

Supposedly food service ends at 9pm, according to the website. We arrived at 8:10 and was told the kitchen was closed. 😡

Good welcome and able to choose where we wanted as it was quiet We felt the drinks were quite expensive 2 Guinness, 1 tonic water and I fruit shoot over £18 ? The food was good on the whole however my husband sirloin steak was not very good really chewy We would have had carvery but to be honest it was looking dry,the staff were adding water to it .

The staff are really friendly and happy to help if we have any questions about the menu. We have been to several similar establishments in our area, however we always find our way back to The Little Castle. Bravo to the staff for being so friendly and helpful.

Lovely slow roast beef on the carvery

Went on a Sunday afternoon for a family get together. Booked a table for 10 and were shown straight to our table, all good so far. We ordered our food in 3 separate lots (3 households) when the food arrived there were 4 dishes that were incorrect, 2 sides missing altogether & no sauces. I had the steak Manhattan, rare to medium, my plate came with an 8oz. slab of grissle covered in cheese and BBQ sauce. I took it home and even the dog wouldn't eat it. Terrible service & not great food, IMO please avoid.

Warm festive feeling for a family Christmas meal Table was set for a festive meal Starters to mains and desserts was all lovely staff were very welcoming and enthusiastic

Today I was served what I can say the most pathetic meal I have eaten. Please avoid the hunter’s chicken because when I enquired from the male staff member why it was half a chicken breast, rubbery tiniest bacon and a few chips his response was ‘it comes as it is’. No polite response or a simple apology. For more than £13 it was unbelievable. The kids meal came with a frozen corn on the cob; we all laughed though it was not funny. As for the burgers, we all agreed that its a place to avoid.

A fantastic Sunday Carvery, at a very reasonable price. The Staff were attentive, friendly & professional. Definitely worth a return visit.

Even though they were very busy the time we came and had to wait 45 minutes for our food. We was happy to wait , the staff were all very friendly and welcoming and was always checking to see if we were alright. The food was lovely and we would definitely came again

The food was average but I wasn't expecting 5 stars as with Marstons I know it's all "ping and ding" as its nicknamed. That wasn't a problem as its quite nice considering. What I do have a problem with is the drinks price! Over £5 for 1 drink is a joke considering that the people in the chesterfield area as a majority are working class citizens, and the end result is average food, and worse drinks served in glasses that aren't correct for the brand (which is a big no no knowing that after 20 years in the pub industry). The service was fine, people i actually know. BUT, overall a sub par experience and left £200 down for 4 adults 2 kids and only 2 rounds!!!! That, that i take problem with!!! Keep the voucher, reduce the drinks prices at least! Please for the love of God!!!

I marked the food down but solely because it was sunday and i imagine the focus is on the carvey. The prenetation wasnt great but it still hit the spot and was very tasty. I had loaded fries, id still reccomend them.

Appalling! Told there would be a 10 minute wait, after 10 mins told it would be another 5 Minutes, 50 minutes later, as I was about to ask for a refund, we were told the carvery was ready, but not the Yorkshire puddings. The beef was so tough, the turkey was just an end I would give to my dog which left gammon, not on I would pick but by this time I would have eaten anything. This is the second time in succession I have had cause for complain! Step up guys this used to be a wonderful place to eat!

Awful service which let down the decent food. Staff draining lines while customers waited for over 20 mins to be served. Surely serving customers would have been more productive then keeping one draught on sale. Not all staff were poor, young lad who looked after our table was good along with the very pleasant lady at the carvery.

The staff were very polite and helpful it was straight forward from ordering a drink to ordering the food, the food from the menu arrived after a short time, we had to wait a short time to be served at the carvery counter and the food was hot and tasted lovely will be back for more

Even though pub wasn't busy, had to wait 45 mins for meals. Two meals came 10 mins after 1st one, that wasn't good . Food wasn't hot, only the fries. Pitta bread was solid (maybe overcooked?) which I couldn't cut up at all or eat when I picked it up. We all left half of our food for these reasons, so will never come back. Potions were small also.👍

Friendly, helpful staff who were very pro-active in helping us get situated with our son near the play area. The food was excellent and great value for money. We will be back again soon.

A very pleasant lunch for New Year’s Day! We chose to have the carvery and it was very tasty. I’m surprised it wasn’t busier however this meant there were no queues which is always a plus. There were quite a few things out of stock which did impact our meal slightly. But overall it was an enjoyable experience.

Arrived to find despite receiving email to say booking confirmed large set man on door told me with attitude we didn't have a booking, we were then shown to a sticky table in the family area. Cutlery and napkins were thrown onto table and he stomped off. Ordered 4 meals 2 orders of 2 sent at exactly same time via the app, one order came out immediately the other 15 mins later after having to ask why there was a delay. When we were trying to order desert we were told all the cakes bar 1 in the display case weren't real simply there for display. The entire team working that night were sullen and grumpy like everything was too much trouble. The restaurant was not busy and staff stood around chatting. When we had finished our food we decided to stay and catch up for a while and repeated visits to table to clear glasses etc when not finished felt like we were being a nuisance and should leave so they could have an early finish. Definitely would not recommend to anyone unless you want rude sullen service with a venue that felt dirty and sticky. The mens toilets were grubby and floor wet from possible leak under urinals clearly noone has any standards of hygiene or customer care at this venue!

Worst carvery ever had. Rude staff. The stuffing was so dry and over cooked I refused it. I asked if there was any more and was told no 15 min wait. So thought ok no worries. Sat down and then the fresh stuffing came out. The gravy was watery and tasteless. It was just like brown tap water. Only popped in because was doing a long drive with the family and will definitely avoid this place when we pass it next time.

Such a lovely place, warm, welcoming and the staff are amazing, so friendly and helpful, the food was delicious and they do tea with caffeine 🤣 we would certainly recommend to anyone, it truly is delightful.

We visited here for a carvery on Sunday. We can't knock the food or service both were excellent. Whats the reason for only 3 stars then I hear you ask. Well the price of the drinks. I know everything's gone up but we were charged £5.10 for a single Archers and splash of lemonade. If we'd bought two we could have just about got a bottle of Archers from a supermarket. My advice if you go for food is stick to tap water!

First visit! Enjoyed the Christmas menu 🎄this week. Starter was fine, carvery was fab! Hot and tasty, served with a generous helping of great banter with chef! Disappointed sticky toffee pudding wasn’t served with custard, however it was still delicious. Will be back.. Thank you!

Friendly service polite and efficient great food great prices

Went in this afternoon for a carvery for me and 3 others. Firstly the table and the bar surface was very sticky and when getting the food there was only turkey and what was left of beef scraps no gammon. The quality of the food was dire at best. I've been going here every now and then since it opened and was really good when it first opened but after today I will not be returning. It is a real shame.

5 staff stood around but no body serving too busy talking food was OK .
