At the suggestion of one of our party of four (plus baby) who had recently been to Aubaine in Selfridges we went to this Hampstead restaurant for breakfast on a cold but clear Saturday morning in early October. After having walked from Euston station into Hampstead we were ready for a good breakfast. Walked in off the street not having made a reservation where we were seated downstairs directly under the stairs (we had a child & buggy) and after looking at the menu and wishing we’d gone next door to Cote Brasserie we gave our orders to the waitress. Scrambled egg and salmon £8.00 (came with 1 piece of cold rock hard toasted bread with no butter or spread offered-maybe that’s the French way? two cherry tomatoes and curly kale), pot of tea £2.95, 2x formule sante £12.00 each (poached egg with avocado on seeded toast) one with fresh orange juice, one with a pot of tea, one pain au raisin £2.50 and one bottle of evian water (750ml) £4.00. We asked that one of the poached eggs be well done and when the food arrived the waitress said she couldn’t remember which was which but she could go back to the kitchen and ask but we declined this offer thinking we’d soon learn ourselves, well we did as they were both well done with one being more well done than the other making it more hard boiled than poached and did I mention my rock hard toast? All looked good (see my photo’s) and to be fair the scrambled egg , salmon and curly kale were fine but the rest was a poor do. Tea was nice as was the orange juice but you can‘t really mess that up. The total bill was £41.45 plus the norm (for Hampstead at any rate) service charge of 12.5% adding another £5.18 giving us a grand total of £46.63 for what was essentially three plates of egg, a bun and a couple of drinks. I had been thinking of trying this place for lunch or dinner but this experience of breakfast has put me off. I'm being generous with my overall rating of a three because it really falls between two and three.

I wish I could give a negative score… worst experience ever in London. The lobby receptionist staff are so rude and unprofessional! While I was taking pics of the interior, the cocktail guy stopped me and said no pics because of their policy. I asked why there is a policy for not taking pics, especially I’m just taking pics of the interiors not any guests and I’ve never heard such rules in other hotels. He asked me in a very offensive way about which hotels I have been to… I mean this is so unprofessional. I’m paying money to chill and enjoy service at your place not to be challenged about which hotels I’ve been to. Then another receptionist came to serve and then told me no laptop again….. I came to this place for food and then coffee because I got work to do. Why don’t they tell people in the first place? Nowadays cafes with roles of no laptop on weekend clearly put a sign at their door. How dare you kick someone out who paid at your place?! This place is outrageous… I’ve never seen such ridiculous place in London before! By the way the food is also not worth the price! You definitely have other tasty options elsewhere
