I came to wallace collection restaurant on hearing about the wonderful afternoon Tea experience. I am really happy to say i had one of my best experiences in london . I was greeted by a kind young gentleman Akhil who provided us a wonderful table and took care of us as well . I will be looking forward to another visit . Thanks

£15.50 for two small coffees and one small cake. The incredible collection, the masterly tour guide - all free. A privilege just to step into the building. Next time I'll learn from the cannie grannies who bring their thermos and sandwich and sit on the seats out front in the sun.

Beautiful setting, average (to mediocre) afternoon tea. 🫖 went for afternoon tea for a friends birthday. Staff was kind but a bit scattered and not very attentive. The actual food was pretty bad- I found the cheese and chutney sandwich inedible, as well as a food portion of the desserts and they were overly/sickly sweet. I couldn’t eat all of it because it started making me feel sick, and I left a bit hungry. For around £50 (without bubbles), I don’t think this is a great deal. However the setting is beautiful!

The meter was very helpful in welcoming us. The table service was fine at first until they completely ignored us. We asked for tea three times and they didn't even bring us the bill. It was my first gastronomic experience in London and probably the last, luckily. I saw how tables came in and were so well received while I continued waiting until I asked for the bill. Expensive for the bad treatment we had. I don't recommend it at all

We were there for afternoon tea. The staff is very attentive and friendly. The food and tea were also very, very tasty. However, we figured it would be £45 in total and not £90 for two people. Of course London is expensive. But that is absolutely excessive. That just really ruined the wonderful experience.

Had the scones with tea combo thing. Food was average, and service was worse. Took forever to get served and to get the bill. I have no idea how they justify their discretionary 12.5% service charge. They did have one really friendly and bubbly waiter waiting on the other tables, so maybe we just got the trainees or wait staff who were dying to clock off for Friday night drinks. Atmosphere, ambience, and decor of the place is pretty great though. Not sure I will return.

The worst service in London. We tried to walk in for lunch, understandably the restaurant was full. The waitress was very rude. She stared at us rudely and told us to come back in an hour. We asked if she means she put us in the queue and she only responded ambiguously. We offered to leave our contact so we could be in the queue. She jotted down our name and number on a random sheet of paper and has never contacted us again.

The cake and wine were nice and came to £14 with service added. The restaurant is like a greenhouse so expect hot temperatures in summer. Attracts a fairly diversely posh arty crowd. The food here is made by Sodexo, the same company behind such fine establishments as your children's local school cafeteria. Only it's 10x the price. Might be worthy of only dropping 1 star however the service was atrocious. We had to ask 2x for water and 3x for the check before finally getting up to pay at the desk, which caused a huge fuss worthy of 3 waiters getting aggravated. The saving grace was the space which is absolutely gorgeous. Maybe come for tea only. I've had that before and it's always met my expectations - hot leaf juice is hot leaf juice. If you do decide to come on a weekend, make a reservation. The queue gets insanely long while the app shows that it's wide open.

Disappointed. For a place so stunning the restaurant/cafe services were ridiculous. Went on a Saturday around 2:30pm so the busyness was expected however the place seems extremely understaffed. After waiting 10 minutes for a table for 4 people, we got seated and already chose what we wanted from the menu while we waited to be seated. We then waited for 20 minutes for someone to come and ask what we would like and the unpleasant gentleman said “well I guess you’re ready to order then” after my mother waved him over. The cakes are decent but too over priced even for London and the tea pots are a safety risk. Although they’re cute, the handle was too hot to touch and I am very disappointed. £4 for a teabag is ridiculous. AND the waiters kept bumping against the back of our chairs harshly without apologising. Disappointed.

I visited without a reservation (on a Monday) and was able to order afternoon tea without waiting. Of the set, the scones were the most delicious and the tea was refillable with unlimited different types, but I didn't feel anything special about the authentic black tea. The collection at this place is beautiful, but I am very disappointed in the fact that they use crude tea utensils and tea bags that look like something sold at Daiso, and the taste of the tea is very mild. As soon as they show you to your seat, they ask if you want still water or sparkling water, but it's not free. Be careful because if you answer anything while you're at it, you'll be charged £4.75 for water like I was. A 12.5 percent service charge is automatically added.

Very disappointed in the quality of food in this place. It has really deteriorated since I was last here. The Darjeeling Tea was awful, like dishwater. The Lemon Drizzle cake was rubbery and the club sandwich just awful...all defrosted from frozen. And I was horrified by the huge service charge. I noticed people having scones, they were tiny! It is a shame that such a lovely place is run by a company which wants to charge as much as it can in return for as little as it can. This is late stage capitalism at its worst. You can get a much better slice of cake and cuppa in John Lewis for half the price.

After visiting the Wallace Collection, we headed to the café where we reserved the traditional afternoon tea. If the place is very pleasant, under a huge glass roof, with natural light welcome in these winter times, and if the team is really adorable and attentive, the plate is rather disappointing. Poor choice of teas (although renewed free of charge, with the possibility of alternating with coffee), small scones, small pastries of any kind for a high price, £45, or more than £50 including the service. The value for money is not there. The map is, however, rather varied, and it is more interesting to draw from it.

Fantastic free collection Shame about the poor service at the courtyard cafe. This place would be 5 stars if the management of the cafe were up to standard. Instead after a pleasant visit to all the wonderful art and the friendly gallery staff, you can be left waiting to be seated while the managers check their phones and sip beverages, their eyes firmly set down to avoid making any eye contact with customers. There were two suited women bustling around studiously avoiding to gaze of any person stood waiting to be seated. The place asks you to wait and wait you must. As seats were few, I moved forward hoping to make contact as I did so with another human life form but sadly, I chose the waitress ( clearly not her department) to ask if I could sit at an available table. Once Sat she served someone near me then moved on not even giving me a menu. I was clearly to be ignored as I had broken the system. Pretty pathetic in this day and age to have such poor management of an eatery. Still. Soho coffee round the corner is great and friendly- and a coffee doesn’t cost £4!

The Wallace is a fabulous place to visit in London, which I would highly recommend to anybody of any age. It is set in a gorgeous courtyard with gorgeous food to match! The staff are all incredibly friendly and helpful, especially our waiter Moussa, and we felt so welcome throughout our visit. It was a thrill to witness the hard-working staff on the counter during our meal, all looking very happy in what I would perceive as a very full-on situation! This serves only as a testament to their enjoyment of their work, which in turn creates such a joyful and happy atmosphere at the Wallace. My starter of soup was sublime, which segued perfectly to the even more delicious chicken supreme main course. Lastly, I had the classic and very refreshing ice-cream selection, of which I choose the Madagascan vanilla and passion-fruit sorbet scoops. We also adored the cocktails that we had, sitting back and soaking up the bright setting. The restaurant is so accommodating to all ages and all tastes, leaving me very eager to return.

I fail to understand why the Wallace Collection Cafe always singles itself out with terrible service and substandard food. Why do I go there, you might ask! I like the museum and also the atrium which has the misfortune of housing the Cafe. It is actually a lovely environment to be in. I do not know how often the management changes but the bad service remains and they seem to have added to it bad food too. Last time I was there, I had tea and a cinnamon bun and my friend had coffee and a slice of tart. The waitress came before I could even sit down to take the order and we asked her to give us a few minutes. Then, she ignored us totally when we tried to order. I had to get up and attract her attention. She came reluctantly and took the order. After a very long wait my friend got up to talk to the person at the counter who followed her to the table. Our waitress had gone on her break without putting our order into the system. He was very apologetic. When our order finally came, my teapot was only half full of water, therefore I could not even get two cups of tea out of it and my cinnamon bun was at least 3 days old and inside it had congealed as if it had been previously frozen, it was chewy in an unpleasant way. Why does the Cafe think that they should bring shame to such an establishment as the Wallace Collection? Why do they employ people who have no intention of serving? Why do they think that the paying public should be given rubbish to eat and get very bad value for money?

It was a filling amount of food with unlimited tea refills. The tea selection was relatively small but with some good options (4 black, 3 green, 3 herbal). I recommend the smoky lapsang. My husband booked afternoon tea with prosecco using a voucher he was given for his 60th Birthday. We were shown to our table which was at the edge of the room. At first we thought it was a nice position as we weren't close to others. We were however very close to the area that the staff noisily throw the used cutlery into a plastic box right behind my husbands head. We felt there was such a lack of care, to have a table in that close proximity to that area in the first place but also to be so noisy inches away from us. The afternoon tea was nice and the room is amazing but the view from the table and the sounds, let the whole thing down.

Lucky me ! I know there’s many negative reviews. My experience was totally different, think it may depends on the timing. I visited on Nov 28 at around 11:00am ordered cream tea set. There’s only a few tables of customers. But after 12:00pm, it’s full and crowded. To be honest, the scone size is bit smaller but tastes good, warm, crispy outside and soft inside. Clotted cream not creamy enough. Earl grey tea is good. The most important thing : my server Inna is wonderful, very attentive, efficient and cheerful ( actually all the staff here I met on that day is very nice and helpful). For the price 8.95£ set in such beautiful place with the best service, it’s much reasonable then cafes in central London. Amazing place to gather with friends in the morning. P.S: closed at 5:30pm same time as the museum. The museum is great and free of charge.

The menu says the orange juice is fresh but it’s not. When we asked the waiter if really fresh they checked with the manager. The waiter came back and said it’s fresh. When we replied asking again “is it really fresh? It doesn’t taste at all like that” the waiter said it’s fresh but they don’t squeeze in the restaurant, they already buy it squeezed and then asked if we would like to cancel the juice. Lunch sandwiches are cold. Cappuccino is good and the orange cake is good as well.

I was there on a Sunday afternoon in August, maybe not ideal as it was extremely busy. I was extremely lucky to get a small table. The courtyard setting (protected by a glass roof from adverse weather) is peaceful and idyllic when not too crowded. I wanted a light snack and opted for a ‘Provençal sandwich’ which turned out to be focaccia bread filled with grilled vegetables and feta cheese. The veggies were ok, but there was hardly any feta, so overall the flavour left to be desired and was a bit insipid. The Aperol Spritz was nice, and tasted as it should do. Service was extremely slow. I despaired and was ready to leave without my food. To be fair, the charming French maitre d’ apologised profusely, but it was just too long a wait. The focaccia was £11 and the spritz £10 - total of £21. Probably an average price for a beautiful location in Central London, but unfortunately not matched by the quality of the food and the service.

Beautiful place to have a bite after wandering around the art rooms. But save your precious stomach space for better eats elsewhere. The service was extremely slow and the servers were completely nonchalant and unaware. No attention to service. We had the cream tea and it came with 2 tiny cold and hard scones. The clotted cream was meh. So many other places with better service and food.

This is a lovely venue, the afternoon tea was acceptable but the appalling service will ensure we never return. After a longish wait for sandwiches and cakes (which was just about acceptable as they were busy) we were told scones, jam and cream would be along shortly. They weren’t. Others came out and were duly delivered to tables along with their sandwiches but we (and our neighbouring) table were forgotten despite being right in front of the waiting station. The staff were too busy chatting amongst themselves and had to be reminded we were waiting after about half an hour. They also had to be reminded about my wife’s glass of fizz (twice) and the bill to which to top it all they added a 12.5% service charge!

French dining. You can’t be serious. Below average food. Slow service. Find somewhere better. The good location is no make up for poor quality.

Went here for afternoon tea, and unfortunately the fingers were bland and dry, and the cakes way too sweet and unbalanced. Uninspired and inattentive service.

Pleasant courtyard setting, good welcome when we arrived early for an 8Oth birthday meal, six adults, two young children. Service deteriorated to snails pace by the end, needed more staff for the well attended Saturday lunch. Adjacent cafe in the courtyard was doing a brisk trade. Food was fine - blade of beef was really good, one small child was disappointed that the advertised fish on the children's menu (only chicken or fish) was not available but she coped!

At the suggestion of one of our party of four (plus baby) who had recently been to Aubaine in Selfridges we went to this Hampstead restaurant for breakfast on a cold but clear Saturday morning in early October. After having walked from Euston station into Hampstead we were ready for a good breakfast. Walked in off the street not having made a reservation where we were seated downstairs directly under the stairs (we had a child & buggy) and after looking at the menu and wishing we’d gone next door to Cote Brasserie we gave our orders to the waitress. Scrambled egg and salmon £8.00 (came with 1 piece of cold rock hard toasted bread with no butter or spread offered-maybe that’s the French way? two cherry tomatoes and curly kale), pot of tea £2.95, 2x formule sante £12.00 each (poached egg with avocado on seeded toast) one with fresh orange juice, one with a pot of tea, one pain au raisin £2.50 and one bottle of evian water (750ml) £4.00. We asked that one of the poached eggs be well done and when the food arrived the waitress said she couldn’t remember which was which but she could go back to the kitchen and ask but we declined this offer thinking we’d soon learn ourselves, well we did as they were both well done with one being more well done than the other making it more hard boiled than poached and did I mention my rock hard toast? All looked good (see my photo’s) and to be fair the scrambled egg , salmon and curly kale were fine but the rest was a poor do. Tea was nice as was the orange juice but you can‘t really mess that up. The total bill was £41.45 plus the norm (for Hampstead at any rate) service charge of 12.5% adding another £5.18 giving us a grand total of £46.63 for what was essentially three plates of egg, a bun and a couple of drinks. I had been thinking of trying this place for lunch or dinner but this experience of breakfast has put me off. I'm being generous with my overall rating of a three because it really falls between two and three.

We lunched with friends and had very good food and service. All at a very reasonable cost for the centre of London. I got an email after booking to say we could be restricted in time at the table. As we were meeting friends from overseas, I queried this possibility and was assured we could take our time. Pleased I did this as we nearly went elsewhere...!
