VERY mediocre, nothing at all exciting/special. The place will NOT be missed after the CIty Centre South development, to be quite honest.

The Litten Tree - This looked promising on arrival, but proved to be the worst pub I saw in Coventry on my weekend visit. The pub is huge, with upper balconies and a beer garden area in front, with open patios enabling the drinkers there to talk to the people inside. It seemed quiet for a Friday night, and I was soon to see why. I got a decent beer easily enough and decided to order food from their Wetherspoon’s like menu. As I returned to my table, the lights faded and the pounding pre-recorded music kicked in. Several people left and the decibel level was ridiculous. One lady struggled to ask me to pass her her jacket and drink as she’d moved to another table from the one near me. We got the conversation worked out through mime in the end. A few passers-by were sarcastically dancing to the music from the other side of the street. My food was taking an eternity to arrive. After nearly forty minutes, and seeing only two other drinkers eating in the whole place, I complained, to be told how busy they were. I pointed at the rows of empty tables. The waitress promised they’d try to serve me in the next ten-fifteen minutes so I insisted on a refund, and canceled my food order. I settled for a take-away kebab from nearby and ate that on a park bench before finding another bar.

Popped in here on a work trip in between hotel check ins. It’s a nice pub, not too busy, and pints were not a bad price at all. Decided to order dinner and had chilli con carne - I was surprised to find that it was lovely - the rice was nice and fluffy rather than dry as it often is with pub grub, and the chilli was quite hot (though that is my preference!). It wasn’t expensive at all so I was expecting a microwave meal but it was a really nice homemade chilli. I would definitely recommend it.

I don't know what people are moaning about. I visit the Litten tree 2 or 3 times a week And usually have a meal as well. The ham egg and chips are excellent for a midday snack and the food is fresh. The beer is good and reasonably priced. The clientele is varied including family groups, couples and single people usually elderly guys. The staff are friendly and the service is efficient and punctual. The only downside was certain Saturday lunchtimes when City are playing at home. Then the pub can be packed with away supporters usually from a London team as the pub is close to the station.

A busy pub just on the road from city to railway station. Well priced doing food aswell. The staff are friendly and always have a smile. Just popped for a drink but impressions were good.

I called in here on my way back to the station and was advised that it was "tabke service only"! The barman came over quickly to find out what I wanted to drink and then returned with the menu. I then ordered and the food took quite a long time to arrive - no mention was made of condiments or sauces even though I asked for ketchup (which never arrived!) The gammon steak was good with a good portion of chips. The place was quite large but I wouldn't think there were more than 12 or so people inside and about 5 outside. Service was a bit slow and I had trouble attracting attention to order another drink! Toilets are right at the rear of the room and were very clean.

We went for breakfast before our train. No one could eat the breakfast. The breakfast tasted like it was reheated from the day before. It was un-edible. 7 of us ordered breakfast and only 6 were bought out. The waitress had made an error and and we were told it was a half hour wait for the extra breakfast. When we said this was not acceptable as we wanted to eat together and had a train to catch. The waitress shrugged her shoulders and walked away. We had no idea whether a breakfast would arrive and when it did no apology and the plate was thrown down in front of her. A supervisor was helpful and did say sorry for the staff members attitude. Too little too late and certainly did not make up for the awful food and service.

The staff was rude not polite at all,we orderd food wasn't very nice tuck ages for the staff member to take our order the food made me sick wouldn't go back.

I had a lovely meal in here until...a women behind the bar was making me feel very uncomfortable as she was staring at me from the bar whilst I was eating with my 2 children. I went up and ordered a drink and she served me and was very rude! I asked for her name and she ignored me, I found out her name by listening to the bar staff talking I heard them call her ‘fe’ which I’m assuming isn’t her real name! She should not be serving people with such a bad attitude! Bringing the pubs reputation down utterly! I don’t expect to be looked down on whilst I’m trying to have a meal with my family! Other than that it was lovely food but awful service from that woman!! First and last time visiting!!

Heard a lot of bad things about this pub, but I had a good experience, cheap beer , clean open areas, friendly bar staff and servers and the food was lush I had the most beautiful tikka naan a naan bread with onions and peppers marinated chicken and mango and mint yogurt on top with salad and chips mmmmmm and my partner a lovely tasting scampi and Chips well worth the cheap price

Litten tree is a great place. Cheap drinks, reasonabley priced food that is tasty. Shame that a bar staff member (short black haired woman who spends time cleaning rather than serving) is rude when she decides to serve you. Whenever the bar got busy she decided to leave the bar and wander round and leave the 2 x other bar staff (woman with brown ponytail and lad in his 20's) to deal with the busy bar.

Visited with my husband and two young children - the area around seems rough and the toilets were a mess, I was having second thoughts after walking in (wanting quick meal after visiting the wave) however I'm glad we stayed. The food was a really good quality. Good portion sizes, hot and fresh, the staff were really helpful and friendly and the kids meals were only £1 each.

my husband and myself visted here for lunch on a saturday it was not that busy i have never had food this bad in all my life we do not live local had come for day out together i had club sandwich asked for brown bread didnot have any so was offered white after ahour of taking our order when it came was expecting white crusty bread instead it was cheap soggy bread what made so angry was i was told at bar when we placed our order that it would be 20 min for our food in end it took 1 hr 20 min will NOT EVER COME HERE AGAIN IF YOU GOT ALL DAY AND LIKE CRAP FOOD THEN FINE IT SPOILED OUR DAY OUT

I often walk into the city centre, it’s not far from home and I don’t have hassle parking. When I was heading home I popped in here for a quick pint. Cheap and cheerful and the bar staff are very friendly and are happy to chat, although they do always seem to be eating😀

I visited The Litten Tree today while in Coventry visiting the newly opened Waterpark The Wave. This bar is very clean and tidy and staff very friendly and easy to make conversation with. There is a wide selection of alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks at very reasonable prices and the food is beautiful. ( I recommend the Mixed grill). If ever I'm in coventry again I would not hesitate to come here again. I didn't want to leave.

Popped in here for some breakfast with some workmates, we all ordered the ultimate breakfast, where to start, my orange juice came in a dirty glass, the pot of tea had 1 tea bag in it so it was like dishwater, then the breakfast arrived, bacon was grey so clearly not fresh, sausages were awful, eggs looked like they’d been cooking for 3 days, toast was burnt, on a plus point the beans were ok, all in all avoid this place if you have tastebuds

Been into Coventry shopping so stopped here on the way back to the train station. Never been in before had a burger and a pint just over £8 good value and plenty of it. Nice place plenty of tables not many in but that was nice to relax. Will call in again

Went into the bar for a late afternoon drink with friends. The bar staff were not busy but it seemed like I disturbed their social chat by waiting to be served. I was served efficiently but without a smile.

Delicious Sunday morning breakfast, staff welcoming and friendly, good hot food, cheap and cheerful just what we wanted, rated 4* as in need of refurb but can't fault the food and service

As it was a hot day while at Motofest, we popped in here for a drink. Plastic cups were being used can understand why. Managed to get served quite easily didn’t have to wait too long. So had a bottle of Magners and stood outside and watched the World go by

It’s a big place and on a Sunday lunchtime there were a handful of regulars some of whom seemed like they might have been there since opening time. It’s a little down at heel and the lighting makes it seem a little gloomy. The one bar man was a cheerful sharp who does his best to jolly things along. There’s no real alternative in this part of town but its not far from Spon street if you need a proper pint

Fantastic value for money. Only popped in for a light lunch but will definitely be back for dinner. Need to clean tables after clearing as very sticky.

I have been here several times. Order at the Bar and Food cooked fresh about 10 mins at lunchtime. Steak Meal 10oz comes with Chunky Chips, Peas, Mushroom, Tomato and Crispy Onion Rings.. 10oz Steak plus a Pint appeox £7.50..Steak cooked med rare snd spot on. The Litten Tree is a Freehouse and tbe decor may not suit everyone the food is exceptional.. Served hot and plentiful. Staff are Friendly but not overbearing.. Think. This part of Coventry City overlooked but Litten Tree represents Good Value and Service on Budget Prices..

Ordered half roast chicken for Sunday lunch & hubby had liver and onions.

Me and my mother received great customer service while we both were here. the roast Sunday dinner was brill and also enjoyed an extra cold carling and a nice cider which was value for money to would defo recommend people go and try it for themselves

Qué puedo decir. Fuimos a este pub para desayunar, sólo unos minutos más tarde por medio de los fanáticos del fútbol de la ciudad de Coventry descienda. El ruido y el idioma era terrible. El último desayuno fue por mucho peores. Los granos eran frías de piedra, como si hubieran sido una propina directamente de una lata. Los champiñones fría, el morcilla, bien no puedo opinar ya que nunca lo conseguimos. En general, un esfuerzo terrible terrible en un desayuno inglés completo. Me hubiera dicho el camarero, pero ¿qué con los fans en el pub que nunca un minuto de parada en nuestra mesa.

Popped in with my son and we had fish and chips from the 2 for £6.95 menu. The food arrived freshly cooked. The fish spilt over the edges of the plate which surprised me as they work out less than £3.50 each.

Called in for breakfast. 2 members of staff on, who clearly could not cope....racing around trying their best. Waited over 40 minutes for 'food'. Breakfasts were cold, poor quality inedible sausage and bacon. Coffee was pretty rank tasting. Wish I'd gone to Wetherspoons as similar priced meals with far superior service. Full refund received after a further 10 minute wait. Such a disappointment

Less than 10 minutes from Coventry station with a warm welcome from the staff my daughter and I decided to have lunch here.

Visited the litten tree mid week at about six in the evening with friends.

Found pub whilst visiting coventry. Nice friendly bar service. Very clean place. Ok so we had to wait for our food but the homemade cottage pie was worth the wait. Other meals that came out filled the plate. Overall great value for money.

Came here with my husband and mother in law. The place was empty. We chose a table. My husband went to the bar to order us some breakfast. There were 2 men one in a shirt and one in a black hoodie messing around behind the bar playing with a face mask. 40 minutes later my husband went to the bar to ask will the breakfast be out shortly. The young girl said they've had a rush of breakfasts and ours is being dished out now. Another 20 minutes later we're still waiting!

Went there today with my family, waited over an hour after ordering breakfast. Was told that they were busy but every time I looked the bar person was in the kitchen talking. There was always an endless wait at the bar as the bar person was in the kitchen and the managers didn't seem to care less. In the end had to leave the pub without getting my food. If you want to eat breakfast here pre order when they open and come back on the night to be served!! Definitely new manager and staff needed as the saying goes 'couldn't organise a **** up in a brewery'.

so yesterday I went to lunch here for the 1st time and it was lovely...the food was fresh and clean....the staff wonderfull (apart from 1 that had a chip on her shoulder but the overall experience topped this)the pub itself was VERY clean...and the menu had a great selection I cant wait to eat here again

The staff were attentive, pleasant and efficient. the table presentation was nice. Food was of good size portions , nicely presented, quickly served and good value for money. All freshly cooked and hot.

I have called into the Litton Tree twice with my wife in the past fortnight and on both visits we had excellent meals.. My wife who is a steak lover ordered a 10ounce rump and it was cooked just how she requested on both occasions,and apart from a few chips nothing each time went to waste. First visit, I had the hunters chicken and really enjoyed it The meal was freshly prepared and it was well presented.Today I went in to uncharted territory and went for a lasgna with an exta side plate of chips. It was brilliant no other word could describe it better.The total for todays very satisfactory meals was a total of.£12.45p10 ounce rump with peppercorn sauce chips & salad.Lasagna with salad & an extra portion of chips.A pint of real ale & a double Morgans spice rum with mixer all for £5.70.A total all in of £18.15p you can't go wrong. So see you in there on Friday after I've given my blood donation across the road.

Hadn't been for ages as had heard negative things about the place.I went with my son and 2 year old granddaughter for lunch and was pleasantly surprised.The food,atmosphere and staff were all good.Clean plates off all of us,including my fussy eating granddaughter.Will definitely go again,and in fact considering going there for Christmas dinner this year (if they are doing it)

Well the litten have made a effort and its looking good with it being more inviting and contrbuts to the food great value for money amd finally geting rid of the bad name the great place has !

Sat on table and noticed unattended bag on nearby table. Reported to staff that had the attitude "don't worry about it" and sent someone to take it into the back. We left at that point.

Called into The Litten Tree for the first time instead of using another local eatery. Was met at the bar by a cockey, well presented male barman who was more interested in his fellow female barmaid than serving the customer. Ordered my evening meal and a coffee to compliment the meal and was left wondering how long it would take before either the coffee or the meal was served to me. After fifteen minutes, I asked the male barman if he could serve me with the coffee which had been ordered at the same time as my evening meal. The establishment was not very busy and the barmaid was calling the barman about my request for a coffee. More than five minutes later the coffee arrives and a refund of the price of the coffee was handed to me. Observation of the interaction between the staff was poor and a good male eago was on display for the period of my visit. The food was well presented and most enjoyable and still hot when presented.

We Ordered a triple 2 stacked burgers and a mix grill. The burger was missing the pulled pork from it and when questioned they said it sold out. As I was trying g to eat it I noticed the chicken was extremely dry and hard like it was cooked last week, no sauce or and thing too, I also had a green tomato witch put me right off as well as the Raw chips. From the mixed grill the stake came out raw not how was oreded (medium). So complained for the second time and all he offered was a free desert and this did not compensate as was very low standard. Do your self a favour and not go here for a bad experience as I did.

I ordered and payed for fish&chips and dessert. 30 minutes to have fish&chips (low quality), that asked 3 times in 45 minutes to have dessert, but it never arrived. I left the pub without eating it.

Very poor menu for vegetarians. I chose a dish but it took them half an hour to tell me they didn't have it available . So I asked for the vegetarian burger. We waited an hour and half for our food as they got mixed up with the orders. They were very apologetic I must say and we had a free drink as compensation. My food was not great . My companions enjoyed their food . This is an ok place if you not vegetarian and you don't mind waiting well over an hour for food.

The food was reasonably priced and the service quick. The ambience was a little dark making it hard to read the menu. The food was just OK and nothing special.

We ordered food, it took over an hour to come with no apology from management, after the hour of waiting the food came and it was appalling, my partner ordered a burger, the bread was stale and the chips were uncooked in the middle.Will never return here again.

Just tried the new menu and got to say the fish cakes are gorgeous, food was well presented and all for £6.95 for 2 people!! Staff were happy and friendly nothing a problem will definitely be back.

had a chicken salad on Friday teatime it was nice however as I was busy reading whilst eating I was unfortunatly 3/4 way through my salad when I looked and thought to myself -hell there is a black hair several inches long! I gasped to myself in horror - I was dining on my own! As I knew it was definitely not mine i am blonde with an extremely short hair style. I spoke to the woman who served me, I sat back at my table for a short period thinking perhaps an apology or recognition that I could of strangled my tonsils if said hair was swallowed-it looked feisty! But alas nowt - so i went back to my hotel for a lie down from the trauma! shame about the poor service and standards!

Me and some friends were staying in Coventry for the weekend . We popped in here for lunch . We all had a meal each and every one of them was lovely and plenty of it . And I must recommend the apple crumble n custard. I had the steak n ale pie it was gorgeous . Others had steak and the lasagne all was very tasty. The price was even better and kids meals for a £1.00 yes a£1.00 we didnt have any kids with us so not sure what the menu for them was thou. But well worth a visit

Visited recently for a drink, pint of Coors Light was cool and just what was required, a good selection of lagers and other shorts. Nicely decorated and a dance floor for later on. Pleasant staff and a nice place all round, I will return. The food looks reasonable value and a good selection. Great music.

I can drink carling from the tap all day in most pubs 9-12 pints and be fine half of my pint here I felt sick with a headache I thought I may be having an off day so tried again a few times same thing don't think the lines are cleaned very well not an alcoholic just enjoy drinking of a weekend very dim inside not a bad thing place just stick to the bottles

I called in at this pub restaurant for a lunch, and the menu offers good value food and drinks. The food is nothing special, but very edible at a good price. Service was friendly and average

Nipped in for breakfast as we were waiting for a train. It was a 10 minute walk from the station.2 breakfasts and a cup of coffee was ordered and came to £9.40. We never had to wait long and the food was decent. It was hot. And whike the presentation wasn't great, what can expect for under £4 a breakfast.The atmosphere did seem almost otherworldly. Not particularly friendly. The staff behind the bar could be described as functional and a member of staff did check on us, in that she she siad "alright chick" as she sped past.Overall it ut was fine, but I wouldn't want to spend a lot of time there.

Visited here with friends for a drink.Typical spoons bar with good ales etc at good prices, usual spoons menu many people eating and the food looked nice.All areas were clean and tidy, staff were friendly and cheerful and unusually plenty of them no waiting an age with a shortage of staff as ive put up with before at other spoons venuesToilets clean.Few large screen tvs dotted around the place showing news.Well worth a visit if in Coventry.

We dropped in on the Littern Tree for dinner while visiting Coventry, the pub was quite busy, we found a seat and sat down, a basic pub menu was on the table, I went to the bar and ordered the fish and chips for both of us. The fish was obviously frozen and from a packet, a decent sized portion of chips and peas was on the plate with the fish. The meal was acceptable but not one to rave about, the staff are friendly and the price of the meal was resonably cheap. Ideal for students in the city who want a reasonbly cheap decent meal.

I came here after an exam and although the pub was cheap I wasn't offered a receipt after paying by card with disconcerting. The decor wasn't terrible but this is not a high end pub. Not a must visit but not a terrible place if you find yourself in there.

Popped in for lunch on the way to catch our train home.My partner had lasagne, I had hunters chicken. We both had a soft drink and it came to less than a tenner for all of it. So it's definitely good value for money. I was a little concerned however that when our lunch arrived the plates looked like they needed a good wash. They'd obviously had grease dropped on them then wiped off. Was quite off putting. The food itself was ok. Pretty sure it was all reheated stuff, but for that price I wouldn't expect it to be a la carte! The other thing that I have marked down for is that the tables we sat at (we moved 3 times) were all sticky and hadn't been wiped.

I dropped in here for a coffee at 9am on a weekday. Very good value - coffee for £1.50 with a free sausage (or bacon or egg) petit pain included. You don't get much better value than that.Both were fine, nothing fancy, but perfectly good.Pub seemed clean, toilets clean, service friendly.Would return for breakfast if nearby again.

This pub has one of the best pints in Coventry. Always good value and quick service. The food is traditional pub fare served at fair price and always of good quality.

My partner and myself went to The Litten Tree for a quick drink before we went to catch the train back home. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The inside of the place was very clean and tidy. They also serve food there but we didn't eat at the time maybe next time we are in Coventry we might go and have a meal here.

Got dragged in here on a wet Tuesday lunchtime with my mate looked busy although I've avoided the place for years due to reputation but was pleasantly surprised nice clean and quality looking pub great specials board as well as menu the staff are bit distracted in their own dramas big women with manager badge in black could crack a smile after all I'd smile when the food is as good as it is everyone was eating in pub so we decided to tryout out we ordered cottage pie and 2 lasagne both homemade and absolutely gorgeous huge portion which was surprising considering how cheap it was definitely will come and eat here again provided the manager and her staff try lighten up and crack a smile all in all a good experience would recommend the food most meals are 2 for £6.95 so suitable for every pocket especially when your getting such quality and big servings

Didn't know Coventry at all so hit on this pub when we arrived from the train station for the Bruce Springsteen concert and it was a good find, really good food, good sized portions, great service and good value for money

Ended up at the Litten tree after walking around for a while looking for somewhere that had decent vegetarian food. The Litten Tree has a few nice veggie meals and the prices are excellent. £6.95 for two Sunday lunch meals with drinks. A lovely surprise. Friendly staff and a relaxed atmosphere.

The plus points, it is very cheap in there, beer and food is low cost. It could be very good, if the staff cared. Typical city centre pub where the staff are more interested in going on their next 'smoke break' than actually serving people. Food used to be plentiful, good and low priced, these days it is just low price. A shame it used to be good.

This was a chance stop whilst looking for a quick bite. It was after 18:00 so the parking opposite was free. The specials board was offering 2 meals for £6.95. Bargain!We had shepherd's pie - peas, chips and gravy. The quality exceeded expectations.

First pub I saw coming out of Coventry station. When I saw the prices my first thoughts were negative but the food was tremendous, especially for the price, the drinks were cheap, staff were friendly, couldn't ask for more.

Fish and Chips and Plaice and Chips on an early Wednesday lunch time - fish were both a bit greasy but food was hot and to include a pint of beer and half and lager and lime for less than £10 was not bad. The chair coverings were rather dirty and off-putting but the ladies toilets were spotlessly clean! Not my usual type of standard, but taking into account the low price, this has to be fairly good value for money - You Pays Your Money, You Takes your Choice!

Had nachos and they gave us millions of them, that's because they were all smashed to bits in the dish ( I can live with that).Ordered 2 hawaian burgers which were absolute disgusting. The burgers were obviously frozen and very cheap, a but like lidl home brand. Left half my meal as so did the wife and felt very sick for the rest of the afternoon. Did not bother to inform the staff as they were obviously only bothered about their regulars propping up he bar.If you want half decent food for a nice lunch do not go here.

Came for dinner and it was lovely food order got a bit messed up my daughter wanted mash but got chips doing big they gave the mash as well for free and were very apologetic for it food was lovely and excellent value for money

If you're up early it's great for a mini bacon roll (which surprising for two of us lasted till lunch time) and a pot of tea for 3 quid.Only fault is that some of the staff are not there at seven o'clock so a bit hit and miss for food at seven in the morning, so you can't rely on it as a place for breakfast at the said time on a regular basis. If you fancy a drink at seven in the morning then look no further.

dont even consider coming here if you want a quiet drink especially outside, easy access to shopping area and good meeting point.

My Husband and I stopped here for a quick afternoon drink a few days ago. The staff could not have been more friendly and helpful, they made us feel very welcome. It's deceptively large inside, with plenty of seating and even has a little dance floor and DJ booth.We didn't end up eating but the food on the table next to us looked delicious.

Its a big pub got a nice dancefloor, could be so much better in there as DJ plays awsome tunes but everytime i do go in there its police outside...hmm wonder why
