The Lion's Inn in Coventry

Food and service were very good, and there wasn't the common situation where they hover over you trying to get you out of the premises as soon as possible, as is often the case at Indian restaurants. The only downside was that the place was empty, which was odd for a Friday evening. I'd certainly go back though.

Very small portions for the price. Chips were cold and food was luke warm. Eating at the restaurant is amazing but takeaway is just not worth it.

The butter chicken seemed more like a chicken korma, the masala chips were fries, just not very enjoyable or tasty, i now have a bellyache from the curry as it seems full of coconut cream. You just can’t go with reviews. Good delivery time.

My other half said it was the best rogan lamb curry hes ever tasted. Definitely ordering from here again.

Lovely food, and quick delivery time.

Oct 2024 Still fabulous. This time I had a vegetable biryani medium hot with some paneer thrown into it. It was delicious. Of course a couple of pints of Cobra helped it all go down nicely.v Oct 2023, Still my favourite curry restaurant. This time I had a couple sides with some garlic naan. The first side was Mattar Paneer (pea & paneer) medium hot. The second was Aloo Gobhi (cauliflower & potato). Washed down with a couple of pints of Cobra beer. Oct 2022, Great selection of tasty food. They are happy to alter some dishes to suit the customer. Great for veggies who would like some paneer in their curry. Nice selection of beers and ciders on tap. Nov 2021, Veggie Jalfrezi with Paneer chunks, Garlic Naan & Mushroom fried rice. Still great!

While the staff were friendly and the atmosphere pleasant, the wait time for my takeaway was far too long. Unfortunately, the food itself didn’t quite meet expectations either. Although they clearly tried their best, only one of the two dishes was up to standard. Still, it was a decent effort overall, but I expected better.

Owner was very friendly and welcoming, had a chat about dogs 🐕

Ordered for collection , lamb rogan Josh, chips and pilau rice and 3 popadoms. This came to £18.95 which I thought was quite pricey compared to my usual place of choice. Took it home (only live round the corner) food like warm, and the tinest of portions!!!! Me and my little girl always share and there was hardly anything to share!!! Couldn’t rally believe the size of it! The taste was ok but not much sauce and quite dry! Would not go there again!

I placed an order for a takeout, and I must say. 10/10 on the food and service. The tandoori starter was absolutely gorgeous, and so was the Tikka korma. We will definitely use their services again.

Collection service used....said 30mins, it was spot on. Had chicken dupiaza, lamb rogan, egg fried rice and keema naan plus lamb shashlik. Amazing food....literally haven't been here for a long time and usually have 2 or 3 favourites and this has overtaken them all.

Visité la posada de los leones el sábado por la noche , no ha estado por un tiempo , todavía necesita un mechón de pintura afuera pero le dio una oportunidad , se lo pasó muy bien sentado en el área del bar cuatro mesas todas tomadas , el personal muy amable tenía poppadoms dos comidas dos niñeras y verduras guarniciones , todo lavado con dos pintas y cuatro copas de vino de buen tamaño , 64 libras que es muy razonable en estos tiempos , excelente ambiente volverá pronto

We visited The Lion's Inn Restaurant on Tuesday 11th June 2024. For me it was a trip down memory lane, my old Dad used to go there in the 40s and 50s when it was the "Cedars"" and I actually sat in his old seat to have our meal. The meal was absolutely first class we had a starter each which was the size of a main meal. Then I had a Lamb Madras and my wife had a Lamb Shashlik absolutely fabulous, best Madras I've ever had. The Staff were so friendly and made us very welcome. I highly recommend the Lions Inn. I will never forget that night. Thank you. John and Sue Brady.

It is very worst place even stuff is very inresponsible they don’t know who to talk with customer. Nerver recommend anyone. Please avoid form this place

Absolutamente me encanta el Lions Inn. Somos asiduos, pero tratan a los nuevos clientes tan bien como asiduos. El servicio es perfecto, el tiempo entre cursos siempre perfecto y la comida es increíble. Absolutamente impecable y muy recomendable. No te salgas de la extraña mala crítica ya que ningún lugar o nadie es perfecto y tener malos días. Este lugar ha sobrevivido a una pandemia y todavía brinda un servicio de primera categoría 4 años después. Gracias Lions Inn, no puedo esperar a volver.

Always a great experience here the food is excellent

We ordered for collection and experienced one of the best Indian takeaways I have ever had. Everything was freshly made and stayed hot, it was a flavour sensation and I will be back time and time again from now on! So impressed

We were staying on the outskirts of Coventry and found this well reviewed restaurant nearby. It looked very run down from the outside so we were tempted to leave, but the meal turned out to be very good. Neither of us likes spicy food, and the pasanda and korma were lovely.

I ordered butter chicken and chilli cheese naan, wasn't worth any of it. I couldn't see the cheese in the naan only small cut ups of chilli, and the butter chicken was so sweet I felt like I was eating candy but coconut one. Wasn't happy with the food paying ££ that amount of ££ for food not worth it.

Always good food and we were fabulously well looked after by the staff.

Usually love food from here but disappointed tonight. Curries had hardly any flavour and very watery. Chips weren’t cooked and popadoms were soggy. Will put us off from ordering for a while

An amazing night out great food and brilliant service. The only problem I could find were the toilets directly join the restaurant were out of order. However, toilets at the rear of restaurant were available. Would recommend visiting here we will be back fantastic.

The Lion's Inn has been our go to for Indian food since it opened. We have never had a bad meal from there, and fully recommend it

Excellent service from Naz and team as always. We had a variety of dishes and everything came out presentable and tasted delicious. Even made a dish that wasn’t on the menu and was very good.

We had an email telling us it was already delivered and to enjoy our food .. when it hadn’t arrived.. had to heat everything up .. food was ok but nothing special 5 out of 10

Chutney had leaked all over the bag, every item covered. Chips were so very undercooked. Chicken was chewy. Really sad as this used to be a good takeaway.

Me and a friend went for the first time the food was very nice and the staff where very friendly and helpful definitely will be going again.

Just had my first takeaway from here, and it did not disappoint. reasonably priced, healthy portions and tastes fantastic. even threw in chutneys for the poppadoms for free which a lot of other places don't. friendly staff inside when I went in to collect too. will definitely be going back again soon!

Food never turned up! £40 order and ordered at 8pm it’s now 10pm and still no food has been delivered. Called restaurant 3 times and was told food is on the way , driver didn’t arrive , food on way. Having a family meal before a holiday and have not even been able to feed my guests.

Short and sweet review. The food was good when it opened, now the sauces are watery and thinned within an inch of its life. Keema bread had only half full with meat. Poppadoms had dips, but they were just tasteless, mango sauce had no mango chunks, just a poor effort. I won’t even use this place again, the outside appearance represents the quality of the food. Run down and crumbling. We are trying Pickles next time, as even Akbars is heading the watery way.

The best Indian takeaway for a long time!

Ordered a mix grill platter for 4 as a main and it was pathetic. The portion was for 1 person.

Usually a great meal from Lions Inn but the chicken in the jalfrezi was really dry. The Pasanda was not great either.

Had a fantastic meal - all the food was very tasty and we were given a very warm welcome and the service was great!

Myself and my wife ate here while my daughter attended a concert at the arena. The food was unbelievably good, plentiful and spiced just right. The lime pickle is the best ive ever tried, as was the lamb saag. I couldn't fault anything at all. My wife said hers was fantastic too. The staff are really friendly and attentive, in all its a definite must.

Omg the best Indian food I have ever tasted. If I could eat here ever night I would be a happy girl. The staff are amazing nothing is too much trouble.

First time we have been to the Lion, but it won’t be the last. We have 3 other Indians we would normally choose from but had a quick look at trip advisor and we are glad we did. We had chicken tikka, chicken shishlak and salmon tikka for starters all of which were generous portions and very tasty and more to the point very succulent. Mains were chicken tikka, lamb madras, a prawn dish and lamb biryani and again all were very good. Mine was the biryani and I think it was the best I have ever had. Would definitely recommend and will be going again. Good value for money and service was quick and attentive.

The only thing I would say is the outside of building needs some attention as people would drive by I was recommended by someone and was told not to be put off by the outside appearance.

Well, what can I say? Food was good, that has to be said. But that was it. This place is a dump. It’s got the most depressing decor, horrible sound system, it’s just a place where you want to go if you wish to replace any happiness with an overwhelming feeling of depression. They happily make you wait for your food for an hour and a half, and when you complain they tell you (and this is literally) to not come back “because they thought we were rude”. They wouldn’t know what customer service was if it hit them on the head. They will get what they want: they won’t see me there ever again. My advice is, do the same and avoid.

Visited with a party of 7. Lovely food and the service was impeccable. I would highly recommend and will definitely return.

This is our second time eating at The Lion’s Inn. We can honestly say that this was the best Indian food we have tasted. The service was friendly and efficient. You could be hard pressed to find better Indian food in our area.

Just got home after an evening with family and friends at this restaurant. We’d been recommended this place by friends and this was our first visit and it certainly won’t be our last. We were warmly greeted and immediately felt comfortable, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming and the restaurant was beautifully clean. The service was incredibly friendly and accommodating (we had my sister’s baby grandson with us) and nothing was too much trouble. Enough about the place let’s talk food... Incredible is probably the best word, there were a few of us who all eat Indian fairly regularly and we all agreed that this was some of the best food we’d ever had. I have no hesitation in thoroughly recommending this restaurant for anyone who wants great food with great service at a great price.

The lid had come off the mango chutney so it was all at the bottom of the bag rice was stuck together and curry was really salty and chicken hard

Normally eat in the restaurant but thought we would try a take away. Absolutely amazing quality as always and the delivery time was incredible, food arrived less than 15 minutes after ordering. Will definitely be back over the christmas period 👍

Hi had a number if neals from yourselve which have always been good but tonights wS realky poor Chicken Tikka Masala tasted strongly of desocated coconut which is not a constituent of the meal . The chicken Patia , my go to meal , tasted nothing like im used too either . I was also shocked to see a service charge added where most takeaways recieve thd benifit of 10% discount ! Very disappointed This was originally sent as an advice email but they failed to respond to that too 😔

The food wasn’t great. One dish completely unrecognisable (madras tasted like a generic gravy, no spice and very gritty like a poor granules texture).

Never had an issue with this restaurant before, but tonight was a total disaster. Delivery was over 30 minutes late and missing items from order and incorrect items. Out of 4 items ordered, 1 was completely missing, 2 were incorrect which is very poor. Food was barely warm so had obviously been sat in delivery drivers car for some time

We booked for ten people , we ordered our food , no starters , we waited an hour , the plates came ,we warned about how hot they were, 20 minutes later our food came , the plates were very cold by now , minus various dishes we ordered ,they came out after the mains were eaten , we complained but fell on deaf ears ,it was my mother's 92 birthday treat, as compensation of sorts ,they placed a frozen cheesecake in front of her, she couldn't even get the spoon to penetrate it , they must have watched ,because they bought a knife and fork for her to try ,my curry was nice I must admit but the service needs a kick up there arse , we will not go back ,and I really would not recommend it ,there's plenty of other curry houses around ,there loss ,good riddance,

Sadly on this occasion the food was cold even though were literally 2 minutes from the restaurant, the onion bhajis were overcooked, cold, dry and crunchy.

Had a delicious chicken jalfrezi and lamb rogan. Tried the masala fries OMG! Game changer! Thanks guys
