The Lighthouse in The Vale of Glamorgan

Recently my husband and I met friends who booked a table at The Lighthouse for Sunday lunch. The restaurant is a part of Barry Yacht Club and is located near to Jackson Bay (wonderful quiet beach). We arrived 45 minutes early, so we sat outside in the beer garden and enjoyed some quality time together admiring the seaview. Our table was ready at the allocated time and we moved inside. The restaurant was immaculate with tasteful decor. There was a great family friendly atmosphere and the restaurant was very busy. Our orders were taken by a friendly, professional member of staff. For the mains myself and my husband both ordered the lamb, my friend selected the vegetarian wellington and her husband had beef. The food was nicely presented and was served with a tremendous variety of vegetables including baby carrots, broccoli, mashed vegetables, peas, green beans and leek. The roast potatoes were absolutely delicious and I was cheeky enough to ask for an extra one. The Yorkshire pudding was perfect and the meal was nicely finished with a fantastic homemade gravy. The quality of the meat really stood out, it was beautifully cooked, nicely flavoured, perfectly carved and tasted fantastic. Once we finished the main course washed down with a bottle of wine we browsed the dessert menu. Ample time was left in between courses and I ordered the cheesecake, my husband had ice-cream and our friends both had chocolate fudge cake. The desserts were the perfect size and tasted exquisite. Throughout our meal we received excellent customer service and our meals were very good value for money. We really can't wait to visit again especially as there was a fantastic menu covering all.meals including breakfast, lunch and evening meals. There were also a childrens menu available.

The Lighthouse cafe is tucked away next to Jackson Bay. Pleasant spot to have a lazy drink in the afternoon. We went on Sunday, had a nice Sunday roast. Great live music, all makes for a perfect Sunday afternoon.

Came here for breakfast before setting out .it was really good. It ticked all the boxes. From the moment I went upstairs I was met with a friendly smile. Ordered the food and sat over looking the harbour. The food came out quickly and all the condiments came out at the same time . It was really tasty and you can tell all the ingredients were great quality .every time I’m in Barry this will be my breakfast from now on .

What a hidden gem this place is. Incredible views looking across the harbour out to sea. The hospitality from the staff was first class but the icing on the cake for me was GLUTEN FREE cod and chips in batter which was delicious. In my experience very few places can provide gluten free fish and chips so I was very happy. Thank you 😊

We ordered a chicken tandoori tray bake meal, it was delicious. Very tasty, fresh ingredients. We will most certainly order another meal. We would throughly recommend The Lighthouse

If your looking for a special occasion buffet with a difference, look no further!! Due to Covid-19 we had to postpone a party at the club, eventually after some restrictions lifted The lighthouse came up trumps!! We had an amazing Mediterranean buffet delivered to our door for 30 people, the different tastes of all the dishes were just mouth watering, exquisite and so much of it... All quests thought it was exquisite, and a welcome change to the traditional buffet, the owners were so accommodating, prices reasonable for both Traditional and Mediterranean buffets. I will be ordering again that's for sure !!!

Not up to the mark everything wasn’t clean and disappointing . Wanted to make it a special lunch but errgg too upsetting

The best Sunday lunch I’ve had in a very long time - in fact I can’t remember a better one. A lovely send off for our long trip away and looking forward to the next when we get back.

Fantastic venue with far reaching views of the Bristol Channel. The Club is open to visitors but you need to call for access making it a hidden gem. Very good food and fantastic service well worth a visit!

One of Barry island's best kept secrets is the Lighthouse, situated at Barry YachtClub...You do not have to be a member to come and enjoy a lovely Sunday lunch, with gorgeous views Portions are generous, prices are very reasonable, and the food is delicious Lovely service , it really is a fabulous way to spend Sunday lunchtime

Have been here for Sunday lunch and for an evening meal after a talk given about Barry.The service was excellent,as was the food.Good portions,and very tasty.Made to feel very welcome,and there is a great atmosphere here.Highly recommend this venue,which is part of Barry Yacht Club.
