The Lighthouse in Oxford

I've had two special occasions in my life at The Lighthouse, my 27th birthday and my hen party. I love that it is spacious and not so loud that you can't have a conversation or mingle if you're in a large group. The steampunk aesthetic appeals to me massively, and there is nothing else quite like it in Oxford. Last but not least, the food was tasty and service was quick! Thank you!

Close to work and so this is a regular. Decent outdoor seating when warm enough. Prices are online with standard Oxford. Staff, particularly always smiling 😁

Great place! We've had some cocktails, they were delicious. They had a good amount of vegetarian options for food. Would come back here anytime.

Food was really good. Although the staff isn’t obvious as to who works here and who’s a customer. The staff are sat on their phones and are incredibly un attentive. No checking up on our food during service very very poor service. Asked for a dry rose and got a sweet rose. Staff need to buck up.

This is a lovely little venue. It's nice and calm despite being next to a busy road and thoroughfare. They mix a great espresso martini too.

It's OK. Staff are friendly and the pub is very quiet. Very old school, which is fine, but just a bit tired.

Amazing food and lovely service with great suggestions for the tapas too. And the cocktails were amazing aswell. For 10 tapas dishes plus cocktails and hot drinks, just over £20 each so really reasonable.

Hummus, guacamole, and tzatziki (however you spell it) were worse than the cheapest supermarket alternative. The pitta bread was like cardboard. Ordered an aubergine dish which barely had any aubergine and more carrots. For the price you pay, the food was not great. Small portions of tasteless food

Located right on the river, close to both city center and the central train/bus station. Friendly and service minded staff.

Great atmosphere and friendly staff. It was cold inside with the door open but fine if you found a corner. Will come again

To quickly describe this place, if you're into a quick bite and a drink with some friends, this is clearly a good place to come. It has good tapas, good drinks, and great service at affordable prices, especially if you get the food at order two and pay for one offer. I think the place can be appreciated most during the evening if you manage to get a seat, but it's a nice place to visit even during the day. We had a good experience here, so I recommend it.

Really nice food for a chilled Monday night - staff were very attentive and fast!

Great cocktails, good prices as well during happy hour. Terrace looked nice, sadly too busy to get a seat there (expected on a Saturday though!). Only complaint is the member of staff bringing our drinks was a bit in your face (literally, it was uncomfortable having him lean on me to give us our drinks)

Thank you to Mirko and Manuel. Thoroughly enjoyed tonight, a great venue with great drinks polished off by brilliant hosts. Makes all the difference. 10/10 beautiful setting and staff to match.

Staff should be careful when they speak another language to insult customers because they don't leave a tip. Or because they take time to order when there is a big group with kids.

Food very tasty. Beer tasted awful. Swapped for another one and tasted just as bad.

Decent pub but they only keep one proper draught beer (real ale) and more often than not the barrel is empty. The Europop lagers are £6 a pint (and American pale ale on tap is basically Europop too).

Excellent attention from your waiters. Especially a guy who attended to us in Spanish. Beautiful and recommended. Good tea and good cocktails. Cold draft beer.

Great drinks but the food is overpriced

Stopped in on the way home from the big feastival in Kingham. Staff were excellent and super helpful. Shout out to the young blonde lad with the braces (sorry I forgot his name), and the young blonde lass behind the bar who was cheerful and helpful. Made us feel very welcome even though we only had time for a couple of drinks before we had to rush off to catch a train. Would definitely recommend this pub to anyone visiting Oxford. Also great decor , nice ambient vibe inside as well . 👍👍👍

Review showing hubby's name, but I went to the Lighthouse today with a friend for lunch. They catered for me - gluten free, vegan, low fodmap with a truly tasty, hearty lunch in great surroundings. Lovely atmosphere due to a wedding party that dropped in before heading off to the registry office opposite. Great vibes. Oh, and clean toilets! Thanks to all the staff, Kaz :o)

Been meaning to leave a review here for a while now. Myself and friends visit here probably 3-4 times a year. I have never tasted better cocktails! Especially the Last Mango In Paris. The staff are always so welcoming and friendly. And we always get the Tapas. Which again, is absolutely amazing! We look forward to our return visit. Thanks very much guys 😁

Friendly place and its tapas are tasty and perfect for a snack with a drink but not quite enough variety for a meal.

Been here twice now and love it. Best bar outside Nottingham. Staff so friendly. beers, ciders and food spot on. Music not to bad. But cant please everyone. Overall fantastic place to be..

The beer had bits floating in it. I asked for a new one and that too had bits floating in it. The menu also says it is for winter 2022-23. The staff are friendly but don't know how to keep beer, or spot when something they have served/poured has the potential to make a customer ill. Would avoid.

No trilby rule on the door.. (or other hats) . Baffling. Bar staff tried to make me feel more welcome though

Mirko was just the best barman, knows what he's talking about and crates the best atmosphere (and cocktails). Will visit again and almost sorry to leave... See you again soon.

A great location. A well run modern-feeling pub with an excellent drinks selection

The only good food item was the salad. Don’t be fooled by the ‘Tapas’ heading on the menu. This is not a tapas restaurant. It’s a bar serving pub bites. Iberico ham croquettes? Give me a break. These were cheese balls with pink specks. Btw, when the missed my salad order and I pointed it out, it took the kitchen 20 minutes to produce a small salad of dressed greens and tomatoes . No joke. I think the kitchen is across town.

Very friendly staff and great service

Lovey place. Our visit was listed on our tastecard so booked a table for our visit to Oxford. We good use of the happy hour cocktails and enjoyed the tapas we ordered. Friendly and helpful staff. I will say the food came seemed reheated food, but was tasty and well presented. Would definitely recommend a visit.

I used to like this place. Management were stupidly obnoxious closing early and lying about why they would not serve any customers who were in there.

Had to really fight for table service & not QR scanning. Table just about fitted us all on & the portions of food were quite small. Good for drinks & a snack I imagine but not for a proper meal out.

This is the best pub in oxford. Great food. Great staff. Bar staff Abby and Marko were so attentive.

We had a meal at The Lighthouse restaurant The service was very good although we never felt rushed and the waiting staff friendly and attentive. But the meals we had were fantastic. The menu was imaginative- such a complementing mixture of flavours and all beautifully presented

Went here for my birthday with friends such a lovely place. Food and drinks were great as always, the staff were friendly and helpful! Definitely a great place to go.

The pub could be lovely however it needs a real clean all over, just look at the dust and cobwebs on the ship. overall it could just do with a facelift! The beer options are very limited access could definitely do with an update. The "tapas" is very deep fried focused but fills a whole. Staff are always friendly.

Nice Pub in centre of Oxford, handy for carpark. Excellent Tapas at a fair price. Only downside was not very warm in there, everyone kept their coats on. All in all a good night out.

Cold in there on a wet wet cold windy day. Poor contact less payment set-up- 4 attempts on 2 cards which never miss a beat .. Drinks ok staff seemed ok maybe just a bad day will retry another day. Ideal location en route to from station or just to hang back from centre area proper pub interesting decor...

Decent place to eat, though we probably arrived a little early. Other 3 bookings were all at 7:30, so we found ourselves in a bit of an empty restaurant area. Food was good and served quite quickly! My favourite was the edamame gyozas. Wine and beer both great too. The toilets aren’t quite up to the standard of the rest of the pub but that’s nitpicking.

Great night, good drink, and staff

Enjoyed some lovely cocktails there on a Staff Christmas Drink with "Yellow Submarine" this evening, I had the Winter Julip 2 for the price of one, Very nice. Also the Pub was clean and Staff were friendly. The Toilet facilities were good too although on two occasions the lights seem to go out for a few seconds and then come back on...not sure why? but I guess it is called "The Lighthouse" So perhaps that's a characteristic quirk? I'd definitely recommend a visit.

Gave our table away as we were late, despite us trying to call them to say we were stuck in traffic. Average cocktails while standing with nowhere to perch is not great.

Nice little place. Good range of beers and they have cocktail happy hour. Comfortable seating and covered outdoor seating with very effective patio heaters. Didn't try the food. Clean and tidy, friendly staff.

Lovely relaxed place, friendly and helpful staff. We had some of the delicious 241 cocktails that run every night 4-7pm. The tapas was delicious and quickly served. Definitely would recommend if you're in the area. We are visitors to Oxford and booked a table. 🙂

Great drink selection and drinking food to suit everyone

Jade staff member was Brilliant so helpful. Much more helpful than the miserable sky representative who would not allow us in even though we had tickets. Got caught in traffic drove 25 miles to be turned away. But thanks to jade she graciously offered another film as we had travelled so far. Thank you Jade

I think it's the first place I tried delicious cocktails in the UK. Each and every one of them is very rich with quality alcohols and in a relaxed and elegant atmosphere.

Really nice food with a great nautical atmosphere. Quite quiet but food was really good and the price was fair, would definitely go back.

I highly recommend visiting the Lighthouse if you haven't already. Friendly atmosphere and the Latino girl behind the bar is absolutely stunning!

Great cocktails at reasonable prices. Friendly staff. We went late afternoon, sure to get busy.

The mens cubicle was out of order which i needed desperately as my stomach was feeling worse for wear (not from drinking). I therefore quickly went into the woman’s loo which was the only cubicle and then got asked to go elsewhere. After spending £50 on drinks i then got asked to leave due to me going into the womens loo and threatened to call the police for harassment. I am deeply disappointed and quite shocked as such a horrendous claim was made due to them not upholding their legal requirement for a mens cubicle to be open.

Slightly slow service. But decent bar with good selection of drinks.

It's a comfortable pub. You can spend your time slowly.
