The Leytonstone Tavern in Waltham Forest

Found hair in my burger also my fries was cold when I asked the server if this could be replaced she was very rude and she had a very bad attitude if I come to a restaurant with the money I’m spending on burgers and fries I would like it to be up to my standards and also the servers shouldn’t be working there if they have a bad attitude towards customers.

The burger did not disappoint! The patty had great flavour, good quality beef also additionally flavoured by the grill. Wasn’t expecting a double patty either. Had the Joe Exotic burger, a delightful mess to eat (not for first dates people). It was rich and sloppy but this wasn’t a bad thing! A portion of fries was good enough to share. Not seen seaweed salt before but the umami it seemed to add really worked. House red was nice bold flavour which went well with a rich burger. Service was wonderful from the meet and greet at the door (so glad we booked ahead to eat) to the cheerful lady who served us. The pub is stylish inside and has a small outside area. My only fault is unisex toilets which I hate, but on a busy Saturday afternoon they were clean tbf. Would recommend and will be back.

We had to wait an hour for Sunday roast to be served. A heads up regarding kitchen waiting times would have been helpful. The slow servicee ruined the overall experience. However once the Sunday roast actually arrived it was to a decent standard.

We went for Sunday roast and had to wait an hour for our food. The beef was overcooked but the vegetables and Yorkshire pudding were good. Unfortunately, our table was by the toilets, which absolutely stank... We've had better experiences here and hope this isn't now the norm.

Visited on a Friday lunchtime, based on seeing several food bloggers review the burgers here. All I can say is it was well worth the time and effort to travel here from Oxford. Obviously, we had to have the Bone Daddy burger and it was simple superb, up there with the very best we’ve had. We also ordered beef brisket tacos, and short rib croquettes and fries, all of it was really good. Also a really good selection of craft ales. I would 100% recommend, and we will 100% be visiting again. Fantastic food, and a cool venue.

Came here due to being recommended by a friend and we were not disappointed. Cocktails and beers were very good and the food was delicious, we shared the little plates as well as the tacos. Service was quick and friendly, would come again if back in the area!

This place is just amazing. Food is a constant 10 and great range of drinks. The burgers that have drawn so much attention are great but the roast is in the top 3 I’ve had in London. Staff are great and super knowledgeable.

I had heard that this pub does one of the best burgers in London so naturally had to try it out. There’s a lot of seating outdoors which is great except at our table there’s a bench seat right across which is too high for the table and then the person sitting across is on a much lower down seat. So not a comfortable seating arrangement and not ideal catching up with a friend towering over them. The burger was unreal though, definitely one of the best in London. Perfectly cooked and seasoned with delicious sauce. Prices about average. The service, barely existent. The portions of chips are huge so we had quite a bit leftover, which sat in front of us for about an hour and a half until we left. Otherwise drinks weren’t brought to us (we had to ask, weren’t offered) and a general bit of attitude when the food was brought to us and we asked for ketchup and then realised we had no cutlery either. I don’t have very high expectations when it comes to service, I’m all about this food but this was not good. I would however say worth coming for the burger, perhaps sit inside you might get better service there.

My daughter recommended this place as she knows I love an English roast dinner. It did not disappoint yesterday, as the food was good portions and very filling. Definitely try out the cauliflower with cheese as a side. As well as the truffle chips snd burger , which my daughter said was delicious 🤤. It was my son’s B’day and so we opted to go after the Tik tok reviews. Tom was our server and very pleasant and extremely hospitable 😊.

Have been here before for a roast (which was great) but this time tried their smashed burgers. They were delicious! My burger wasn’t as pink as my twins (Shane) but still very tasty. I ordered the joe exotic which I did love but I didn’t taste any scotch bonnet chilli jam which is what I was excited about! Would deffo recommend a try!

Food was great though one burger and three fries came out after everyone else was finished. No apology nor compensation. Burgers good enough to order another one for the very hungry and well worth a visit but don’t expect speedy service.

Birthday meal made special by Patrick! I booked for my bday family dinner and as usual the burgers were delicious. But it was the friendly welcome and excellent service from Patrick (and all the staff) that really made it special!

Firstly there is no parking at all only Sundays so do not go unless you are walking using public transport or it’s a Sunday. Food was lovely but the service was so bad. Burgers came up and if we hadn’t eaten them they would have gone cold the chips arrived 10 minutes later such a shame as it could be really great.

I want so much to like and support this local pub but it just falls short. I’ve visited twice now and the quality is just not there. It wants to sell itself as a foodie “gastropub” - it’s basically table service from when you walk in - and pushes its social media campaigns accordingly. But for what they charge - which is up to £16 for a burger WITHOUT chips - plus a 12.5% service charge compulsory added - you just don’t get the quality of service. The main problem is the food takes ages (over an hour) to arrive and then when it does it all comes out at different times. To the point where half of your meal goes cold. The food itself is mixed - I enjoyed my burger, but my friends thought theirs were average. I’ve also had a roast there which wasn’t great - veg not cooked properly and hard. Go to the Holly Tree instead if you want a decent gastropub in the area, the food and service there is great.

We came on a Monday night for a birthday meal after seeing the Bone Daddy burger on an Instagram foodie page. It wasn’t busy, the staff were very friendly and fairly attentive, we probably waited about 20 minutes for food which was entirely reasonable and everything came out hot. The burgers and fries were delicious, without question, and I’d say definitely worth the journey. They’ve got some really creative and well put together burger options. The dips were also excellent, and the wine was good. I have one issue - I don’t feel it’s worth taking off any points because we really enjoyed ourselves and didn’t mind travelling (50 mins on public transport) because it’s nice to try somewhere different, but I would like to point it out for others… The very popular Instagram page that directed us here does make the Bone Daddy look a fair bit bigger than it actually is. In the video you can clearly see that they have been in the kitchen with the chef to film it being made so it’s obviously a collaboration/promotion which is absolutely fine, especially as they were very tasty, but when you compare the Instagram post to what you actually receive, it does feel a bit misleading. I’d still recommend it, they tasted really good.

The Sunday roasts cannot be faulted! The pork crackling is made in heaven and the lamb is as soft as butter. The veg is plentiful and tasty, dripping in gravy that's utterly divine. That being said, the whole experience was tainted by poor service; there wasn’t a single table free, yet there were hardly any staff working.
