The Dog & Duck in Waltham Forest

Visited on a busy Saturday afternoon /evening. Very impressed by the activity's available pool and board games, cards domino's. Lovley atmosphere. Well kept beer.

Me and my partner popped in here on our way to a dinner with friends, football was playing so was expecting it to be a bit rowdy but it wasn't,we didn't eat but they were serving food to others which looked amazingly delicious! The Yorkshire puddings were massive!! Ended up staying for 2 drinks as the atmosphere was lovely. Staff friendly and attentive will definitely come back for food another time 🙂 love from Hastings! 🫶

Reading out many of the negative reviews here I honestly can’t justify them. We know and love good food, and this place offers some of the best around! An Amazing pizza, truly Italian, and an absolutely fantastic Tagliere misto with plenty of cold cuts, warm focaccia, smoked cheese and a big whole mozzarella. Simple and delicious, and for an honest price, what you all moaning about?!? 🇮🇹 🤌🏻

1 would rate our experience as -5 if I could! We had booked for a Mother’s Day treat. Was really looking forward to a lovely pub roast. When we arrived, exactly at the time of our booking, we were told they had run out of lamb and Yorkshire puddings. Ok we thought, this was a 4pm slot. The seven of us sat down decided what we wanted, went to the bar only to be told they had run out of food! We could have pizza, but that was it! The manager gave all sorts of excuses. No real sincere apology or acknowledgement that our day was ruined. They had our details so could have called to let us know in advance! Clearly not coping. Total lack of responsibility or genuine concern that they had messed up big time! Woman came up behind us and said we’d had a lucky escape…. The food was dreadful! Needless to say they lost our custom today…. And we will be telling everyone not to bother going!

Me and my partner have lived in Walthamstow for a long time. We tried this pub a few years ago and it was fine but now it is under new management and it is AMAZING! The pizzas are incredible and the staff and clientele are lovely. It has a real family vibe during the day and a DJ in the evening. The beer garden is one of the best I’ve seen with a pool table outside, comfy sofas and mini golf! There is another pool table inside too for only £1! The beer and wine is great. We feel like we’ve found our new local! ❤️

Great family pub. Can I make 1 suggestion.. puy the pool table back in the front part as there is no room to play any shots where it is now.

Great pub which delivers excellent pizza in an inclusive and fun environment. It is great to take kids too but also good for a quick pint to catch up with friends. The decor and ambiance are spot on since the renovations and the owners, you can tell, have put a lot of heart into the place. Not the greatest location in terms of proximity to local landmarks but it is worth the extra two bus stops from the town hall.

The transformation that the new owners have brought to this fine establishment, is close to perfection. The Decor, the staff, the vibes, everything, is just right. Rosie & Wes are fantastic publicans, and have a very warm welcome. Can’t wait to come here on Christmas Day, to celebrate with my favourite people.

I remember when it used to be under the management of Dirty Liquor for some good couple of years and it was one of the best places to visit in Walthamstow just to taste some nice sourdough pizzas. Since the ownership has changed the new owners have changed only the signs, pizzas are just the same but with different names? Seems like the staff has also changed which is very sad, used to be very nice and welcoming, especially with their old manager Rey. Now it feels dark and cold..very sad

Unfortunately did not have a good experience here. I found the quality of service to be extremely varied between staff. Had to wait over 50 mins for our food to arrive and people in our party who ordered 10 mins after us got their pizza and had eaten it all much before we got ours. When we asked how much longer our food would take we received quite a rude response and a shrug of the shoulders...no answer to the question. The pub itself is a bit quirky but modern inside with some nice seating areas and a bigger open area for larger parties. When the pizza did arrive it was actually pretty good and the server was apologetic about the delay. Just unfortunate that by that point everyone was so hangry!

First time there! Loved it!! Pizzas taste amazing! Staff are all friendly! And the kids all loved it, too! Sticky Toffee pudding was to die for!!! 10/10

I used to go to the D&D about 35 years ago, and it's changed a bit! Had Guinness and a stone fired pepperoni pizza and both were excellent. Really, and I mean REALLY, friendly staff couldn't do enough for you. I am definately going to return.

Very nice pub, friendly owner and great staff. They have delicious self-made pizza's and a great atmosphere. The pub looks incredible on the inside and outside! I definetly recommend coming here :)

Great pub with ample indoor and outdoor seating, good for families and dog friendly. Got a number of huts outside, fussball, table tennis and snooker. Pizza tasty, friendly staff.

I visited yesterday for a roast with a friend. It was very quiet which is unusual for pubs on a Sunday. We ordered two versus one chicken and one beef. The chicken came without some of the vegetables posted on the menu and chicken portion was very small. The beef roast also came without some of the vegetables listed on the menu. Afterwards we ordered our dessert which was advertised to come with custard. We were told they were out of custard so we could have ice cream instead. When looking at the receipt we were charged for the ice cream, which I think was very unfair as we had not asked for ice cream and it was offered to us as an alternative. Our table was not cleared for over an hour while we was waiting for our dessert. The table was cleared. The overall atmosphere was poor and unpleasant and staff were not friendly, especially the lady at the bar I would not recommend.

Nice place to spend your evening

Stopped in for pints and we were going to order food , lovely open area out back for outside seating with this hot weather but you need to seriously do something about the neighbor behind you burning rubbish which was extremely smokey and smelled toxic ! Unpleasant odour and concerning so we finished our pints and left .

Great pub, I have three dogs who are always made so welcome. Staff are friendly and attentive. Highly recommended since new management have taken over.

Great Italian style wood oven pizzas. Probably one of the best in Waltham Forest. Very kid-friendly - perfect with toddlers.

Our weekly go to place after football. Can watch more than one match on multiple screens while enjoying your food and drink. Large garden at the back. Child friendly and perfect for sunny days.

Whistle-stop tour of my new locals. Friendly staff, OK pool table, lots of seating and nice pizzas. Cold fresh beers to match and a good covered outdoor space. Will definitely be back very soon.

Visited with family for lunch. The pizzas were served promptly. They were hot and absolutely delicious!! The best pizzas around!! The pub & garden were very clean and very well presented. Staff were great and very helpful. Would highly recommend and will be visiting again very soon.

The pizzas are fantastic, and they have a good range of beer. Happy to show the football even on a Friday night, which really helped us.

As Italian i advice to take the pizza it's amazing♥️. Maybe be careful when u cut the pizza cause under It there Is a napkin used probably for contain the oil. Amazing for real

Enjoyable evening in the beer garden; it was quiet so it was OK for our children to run around. We were in one of the huts which was great to set up games etc. Pizza and beer were good, staff (Emma) was really nice

Usually good pub and drink. Always try to drop in when we're down visiting. Family live close by. Watch out for outdated menu online, when you try to point out to some barstaff, there is some backchat, laughing and poor customer service. Wes listened and acted on this. Apart from this generally happy with the pub amd always mention to friends and family. Will always go back

Not bad but very expensive and grumpy bar staff

We have popped in for a meal and a pint, however I was quite disappointed. We have struggled to find a big table outside. 2 people sitting at table for 6 and another person at a big table so we ended up inside when there were 30 degrees outside. No one from the stuff actually bothered to ask if we need any help even though they were watching. Also the smell of piss was unbearable and the tables were very dirty. Secondly, you need to order everything at the bar and pay upfront otherwise they won't start cooking your food - honestly never seen or heard of such thing. The lady that brought the food to our table seemed to be so annoyed that she was actually working, no smile, no greeting, nothing, basically just threw the plates on the table. Shame, pizza's and the Italian platter were great.

The Dog & Duck has always been a great pub, good pints and delicious pizza, but since being taken over by Wes and Rosie the place has come up leaps and bounds. The new neon aesthetic has brought a nostalgic levity to a classic boozer. With a brilliant garden, a stunning house doggy and welcoming staff the Dog & Duck is a must visit establishment to all, locals and visitors alike.

Yay! Another pub trashed by the landlords. No wine, no glasses, no ale, half the menu unavailable, lovely staff all stressed out. Shame.

Really cool local pub with a huge outside area, nice cocktails and great pizza. I love the music/vintage theme too, it makes it so unique and interesting. And the staff is so lovely, a really cool bunch :) I heard the place will either change management soon or it has just changed it (not sure which one is accurate) so I'm not sure if it was always like this or about to change. We just recently moved to the area and are still exploring, but our first experience here was lovely. Ah, and the pub is dog-friendly too, as you can see (that's not my dog btw, but look how cute!)

Popped in for a pint and pizza with some friends and thought we had stepped into a kids nursery! There were children climbing on the furniture and running around screaming, no wonder we were the only other people in there! Had to move tables twice as nobody seemed to take control. Was such a shame as the pizza was delicious. Not much choice available on the beer/cider taps although advertised. If we hadn’t have already ordered the pizza we would have turned straight back out the door. Has the potential to be a great pub but was severely let down

Lovely Pizza & they also have a pool table for £1 a game. Nice place to meet friends for a drink.

Website claims they are open until 11:30pm most nights and midnight on Friday and Saturday but staff behind the bar refuse service if you walk in at 10pm claiming they are closing soon.

Cool place. Heated huts outside were the beer's knees. Pleasant staff. Or maybe I'm remembering wrong cos I was smashed to bits but either way highly recommended.

Pretty awful. Sunday in December, pubs freezing, ordered a guiness, couldn't get the keg to work, guy got annoyed when I asked where our drinks were, no lights in the toilets, mulled wine not working because they forgot to switch it on. Was supposed to have a Christmas ski lodge event on... Was cancelled nothing on. To be fair the food we ordered was great, the pizza lads were great and the food delicious the roast was fit! But.. venue a bit freezing cold and rubbish. Genuinely leaving now for a warmer boozer

Ordered a pizza from Deliveroo as the reviews were good but turned out to be disappointed. The crust had burnt and the middle was so under cooked it was floppy and raw, so floppy that the toppings completely slid off when I picked it up. Ate two slices with a fork and threw the rest away. Complained through Deliveroo and would appreciate a full refund.

Really lovely Sunday roast. Generous portion sizes with plenty of gravy (never seem to get enough gravy in some pubs!). Giant homemade yorkshires and very nice meat. Will be back again to try the pizzas too.

I'm very impressed with the refurb. I've not been in this pub for years. I went with a friend and we enjoyed a bottle of deliciously chilled rose in the pub garden, which was full of sunshine on a lovely Sunday afternoon. They are dog and children friendly, and looks like their home cooked pizza's were a huge hit with the crowd. Will definitely be coming back to try the pizza's. Nice welcoming staff, clean toilets which is always a huge plus!!

Went there last night 23.4.22 Friday for friends birthday, this score is mainly for the 2 girls working behind bar, they have no people skills, didn't crack a smile, rude, huffed n puffed, just generally miserable. The 2 guys were very friendly and smiley so well done to them. Won't go back

The food was good, but I haven't seen worse service for a long time. One bartender only said the kitchen was closed. To order food, you had to approach another bartender who took the order.

1st time for me but found the staff friendly and service was excellent.

Visited on a Saturday 5pm. Very crowded. No free tables so had to wait for an hour. Standing as a group of 6. Football on tv in the 'restaurant area'. Music was really loud in bar area, making conversation difficult. 1 of 6 pizzas was not what we ordered. Maybe barman couldn't hear me. 3 pizzas were really quite dark crust. I won't be rushing back.

You think your just walking into a pub but the building is full of character, the bar staff were attentive and engaging and the roast dinner on Sunday was fantastic! All round very enjoyable lunch stop our journey home!

Pub increíble!! Recomendable 100%. La comida está riquísima, la bebida es barata y la música increíble, música de los 50/60s. Los camareros muy atentos y el pub es muy grande. Tiene una terraza muy grande semi abierta. Yo vivo por la zona, y lo he hecho el pub para venir al menos dos o tres veces por semana. Muy tranquilo pero con muy buen ambiente😍

I like the dog and duck so much. Just the funniest and nicest bar staff, pizzas are top draw, relaxing, good atmosphere and a fire Pit too! One let down is the punters spoiling it with the yapping dogs. Keep em quiet or dont come in. Thanks!
