Not been in there for a couple of years…then went back as it was convenient and needed to watch the football….on a couple of occasions… This time ; had to wait 15 mins waiting to serve about 10 people …. Eventually an unimpressive looking Eastern European woman ( long blonde hair and an attitude) got round to actually doing the job she was paid for …. I actually let a random guy go in front of me as he’d been waiting even longer than I had been . When it came to my turn to get served I got a sarcastic remark for waiting 15 minutes and and not knowing every drink in the bars stock !!! When I returned the banter stating that I been waiting 15 mins with a debit card in my hand and she couldn’t work out how I was going to pay ….SHE REFUSED TO SERVE ME ….! Pathetic….!!! So…after waiting another 10 mins for another member of staff to get the drink from the back of the bar ….(which wasn’t actually that busy for a match day)was given my drink. The previous time we’d been out the back where a bunch karen’s asked patrons to “keep the noise and language down as we were disturbing their out of control KIDS who were running around and causing a commotion… It’s a PUB for goodness sake’s sake ! I had the last laugh because instead of buying 2 or 3 rounds of drinks and a couple of meals with my son… we nursed our pints for the whole 2 hours…!!! Spent nothing! So Miss Eastern Europe “ you cost your company between £70- £100 …🤷🏾‍♂️😎👊🏾🙄😈🤯🤢🤢🤮😆

Update: Have avoided the place since the change in management and refurb but popped in as was at the Lloyd Park fair and the weather was bad. A few other families did the same and they were unprepared for house busy it was (moderately full). Goes to show how unbusy it must be. Made the mistake of ordering on the app (they regularly promote doing this online) as I was with kids: sat for 20 minutes without any service. Went to the bar to ask and the bar person Izzy just shrugged and said they didn’t notice as they were ‘unprepared for how busy it was’. Staff generally looked miserable and uninterested. Don’t bother with the place, even if you’re nearby and it’s raining - just go to the Rose and Crown up the road —————————————————————— Original review The burgers are normally very nice here but last week (they acknowledged they were short staffed) the burgers were almost inedible due to the poor quality of the meat: they looked and tasted like Birdseye burgers at best. Hoping this is a one off

A short walk from Walthamstow Station this pub has a great vibe inside and large outdoor area. Beer & cocktail menu is varied with many decent selections and special deals every day. But the pizza we had was absolutely phenomenal. Excellent pub vibe, close to Walthamstow Soho Theater, movies & market makes this a fine place to hang with a group or solo (friendly locals too) and there is regular scheduled entertainment as well as live sport action on the multiple screens inside. Speakers and art in the garden outdoor make this a fun spot. That pizza tho, remarkably proper!

Taken over by some corporate. Sports bar vibe. It's sad, considering what it used to be like. Food has taken a real hit. Just the cheapest they could do I guess. The only nice thing is the deep fried corn. Pizza comes under a plasticised blanket of cheese, everything else bulked out with chopped onion. All the nasty tricks you'd expect from the IDGAF Cookery School. A much reduced range of beers. Also, loos obviously have a problem, which has always been an issue with this building. With the hot weather we are having, bar area tends rather to smell of warm poo.

Local pub Good for pub food and a drink

Generally a good pub with good atmosphere and drinks, food isnt the greatest I had to wait nearly an hour for food that was under cooked which was disappointing as the pub wasnt even busy at the time.

What a fabulous Saturday lunch I enjoyed at the Bell pub yesterday afternoon. With rain buckets chucking ☔️⛈️🌧️down from darkened skies I received my dark ale from a friendly bar staff member. The Bell was very busy. The atmosphere welcoming. And my tired from shopping at the local mall feet I lifted not a moment to soon as I sunk into one of the many comfy chairs. Lovely music played from the speakers. 😘 My girlfriends and I tucked into a nine small taco plates. Yum-yum. Spine tingling little smorgasbord delights! Crunch-crunch the karage chicken wonders. Goofy aromatic tiny tot smokey Burnt Ends bites. And my dear friend, Sasha, hummed delightful over her vegan choice, jump in’ Jack Fruit delights. 😜 With our taste butts fired up, lightening flashing from the sky, it made perfect sense to order 🍕🍕🍕🍕, 🍔 🍔🍔 and 🍟🍟🍟🍟 Oh mother of all mother gastro-magic plates we girls received. The Bullet 🍔 hit a perfect spot. My 🐓 escalope ravishingly grilled to perfection by a master cheffie hand. A fiery sauce oozed from the 🐓 escalope. Ooh we ladies squealed with hunger munchies quelled wonder. Dear Doreen ordered a sweet tooth dessert wonder. Stacked with yum-yum toffee sauce dripping from two perfectly baked donuts soaked in chocolate and lightly whipped cream, my darling friend still licked her spoon and fingers long after I returned with two rounds of seductive Porn Star Martinis masterly mixed by the very sex barman. 😍 Oh-oh, from next Saturday we local shopping mall girls are gonna kick our shoes off on a weekly weekend basis at The Bell pub. Loved every minute of our stay….I shall report back. 🤩🥳

Edit 2025: While I still agree with my judgement on the interior design and the overbearing presence of screens, the team at the Bell has been fantastic and welcoming. The crowd also is still lovely and local. Hence I keep coming back and back. Thus revising my (probably a bit harsh) perspective from back then. --- Stripped of personality. Unless you live around the corner or are dying of thirst, there is little reason to go here. This used to be a community pub full of character. A destination you would actually travel to. Now it looks and feels like every other chain pub in the UK. Copy and paste. The same generic furniture and fake wallpapers, lots of screens, the box standard pubco menu and boring event schedule that someone at HQ has drawn up. It isn't horrible but it's also not worth any effort to get there.

Had a great night at The Bell, the staff are lovely! Food was amazing and who could resist a 2-4-1 cocktail 👀 will be back soon!

Currently closed indefinitely due to the council finding a massive mouse infestation. Avoid. 17th March 2025 The food is the same as in other Stonegate run pubs and that isn't a good thing (the Pizza Cone sounds particularly vile). Overall a pretty charmless and generic pub now. Probably OK to watch the football, but other than that I'd rather head to one of the excellent breweries on Blackhorse Lane or to The Rose & Crown just up the road. A shame as under the previous management I used to go there for the Sunday roasts (no longer on the menus seemingly) most weekends, and enjoyed a regular pint there too.

Has been shut down by Environmental Health. The signs put up by the pub say closed due to circumstances beyond their control. But a mouse infestation and lack of cleanliness, as stated on the health is within their control

Came today and had the bottomless brunch, was fab - table set up well , server was well happy and friendly. Food came quickly and was delicious . Also lots of dogs about that wear adorable. Highly recommend

came for a few drinks before going to an event at the town hall. I hadn't been there for a few years but I was shocked. There's TV screens everywhere playing all at the same time. It was totally overstimulating and unnecessary. Totally ruined the atmosphere staff were not particularly friendly young attitude there's better pub to go to.

Drinks and food both overpriced, full of kids and the food is bad. Used to be better before it got taken over/new management and they put TVs in etc. Sometimes the manager is nice and other times he is unnecessarily rude. They charge different prices each time you go up for drinks, even though you're ordering the same ones. When you try to (politely) question it, you're met with hostility. Ambience is still ok and luckily not too many football fans go there.

Came in here on a Sunday and it was a nice level of busy. Got a table easily for 6 people. Didn't feel rushed even though our table was booked for another group later in the afternoon.

This place is fantastic! We booked the rear room for our daughter’s birthday party. Literally from our first contact at booking to our last minute there after the party the staff were so welcoming and helpful! Food was delivered right on time, and nothing was a problem! Awesomely refreshing! The pizza was great too. Very highly recommended!!! Oh, and the room booking required a £100 deposit (no actual booking fee), which was redeemable in food and drinks at the bar. So essentially the room was free!

I’ve lived in London for 15 years. This was honestly the worst pub food I have ever eaten. Revolting. The burgers tasted like Tesco value frozen patties. Consistency was like jelly. Mac and cheese tipped out of a Heinz tin. Awful food, took 45 minutes to arrive. We spent £50 on two burgers and two drinks. Absolutely awful quality, awful food.

Noisy pub with football showing on multiple televisions. Clean enough and doesn't cost much to have a drink. Not tried their food yet but the smell is always amazing.

Only stopped by for one drink but had to write this review because I sent the Bell a message on Instagram and found out the bar man is called Dave: Hi guys, stopped by for a beer while waiting on someone to get off the train and just want to say that the bar man with the green Grinch Christmas jumper had amazing customer service. I've done my fair share of pub shifts and his positivity and vibe was amazing. Didn't get his name but hopefully you can pass this on! Merry Christmas! 🎄

Oh how fairly fairy festive out community hub looks at the moment! All funny frolicking going on under the twinkly fairy bulbs! And guess what, the cocktails kick a mule punch 🥊! And the food 🥘 fill many a roaring belly! I lurve this place….👍👣👍

Wow! There are a lot of children in this pub who don’t even understand how much of a joke they are to you as they speak to the world and their families in this country

This place used to be a real social pub, but now you only see screens everywhere and loud music, completely ruining conversations. Unfortunately, there is a case of false marketing. They have a 2-4-1 offer where you would think you'd get two drinks for the price of one, right? Oh well, no, not really... You'll get to save £0.40 when you buy two drinks 😄 just a note to the management to look into this as it's very misleading. Staff was understanding, hence the two stars.

I was looking for somewhere to watch the Rugby, the game wasn't great, but the beer, service & the atmosphere was great.

The manager dave was extremely rude to my female friend, when i asked how i can make a complaint he told me the name of the parent company, i did not hear fully so i asked sorry can you repeat the name, he then asked me to leave i was shocked and said really, he quickly went back on this becuase i dont think its in your policy to ask customers to leave for asking how to make a complaint, complete abuse of power

My first time time at The Bell and it surely won’t be my last, I was welcomed with a wonderful smile by Dave. Jazz provided us with exceptional customer service.

Great service, great cocktails, great food

Really disappointing roast, other than the roasties, really basic veg and you'd have to check the dental records, on whether that was beef. Really tasteless & grey like something from a Ross frozen dinner. Who charges extra for more not very good gravy. Loads of screens for the football, but the place is a creche

I came into the pub to get a pot of tea to get warm while I wait for my girlfriend who lives less then a minute away I went to see my girlfriend for two hours then while she went out I came back to the pub two hours later a bought another pot of tea, once I finished my pot of tea the manager Dave told me that I am taking up premium table space dispite there being five uninhabitable tables of the same quality and same space for the amount of people he told me I have to leave because I had only bought tea ( because I was waiting for my girlfriend to come before drinking, he said the boxing is on so these tables are going to be full I am still here and there is exactly 4 people in this section while the main event is on as you can see from the pictures I came to the pub because I am stressed and I do look stressed this is why the manager Dave told me I need to leave dispite me being polite to the bar staff and they said we’re very nice to me and especially the curly hair bar tender 12/10/24 the manager asked me to leave because I had only ordered two teas, I suffer from chronic pain in my head so I cannot really drink without triggering pain so I thought I would enjoy a tea while I wait but the manger Dave told me I had only ordered tea and was taking up premium tables in which none of the other tables of the same quality are all empty and as I said their is 4 people in this area none of which are sitting at”premium” tables I’m not sure why I was targeted after spending my hard earned money in this pub other than the fact I look stressed in my face but i stayed very polite to the bar staff and they were very nice to me, the main event is now on and these tables he was talking about me taking up space are all still Empty and they have been empty since I got here Dave decided to pick on me because he thought I was lower class which I’m not and even so people shouldn’t be treated like this regardless please see photo to see how empty the “premium” tables are and it has been this empty since I got here I’m not sure why Dave wanted me to leave after spending my hard earned money in the pub and I get bad migraines from drinking alcohol so I bought two tea’s can i be contacted personally regarding my complaint please im not sure what your response means will be done, other customers should be aware that nothing may improve despite the response

Came for a bottomless brunch for my mums birthday; we had the BEST experience, decorations were amazing even though they wasn’t asked for. We got MORE than what we could have asked for, my mum even got bought a birthday card, will most definitely be back!! Definitely recommend 🥳🥳

We held our 4 yo birthday party in the back room at the Bell yesterday and would thoroughly recommend it as a party venue. Great space and nice and contained, felt spacious with even 50 people inside. The staff were great and had done a great job with creating a buffet specifically for the event that the kids all devoured. Thank you for having us!

I've been here three weeks in a row. First two weeks, decent beer and ok food, if rather expensive for what you get. This week however I was extremely disappointed with the service. I ordered a slightly different beer which was not in the happy hour offer. This of course was not advertised anywhere and when I asked for a different beer at the happy hour prices, this was rejected. This is remarkably short sighted as I then didn't order any food as I have done previously. Furthermore, I'll go elsewhere from now on, for example the dog and duck, where the staff are much more friendly.

Monday 2 for 1 pizza and they are pretty good pizzas.

I have benn a rgular of this pub. since otctober 2023. As an emplouee from Waltham Frosest Council. ordered a Avo & Pesto slaad for £14.50. On receipt i was given 1/4 avocado. I raised a complanit with regrs to the cost of the salad and offering a quater of avocado. The Australian/ Canadian manager mocked me and said I will give you whole avocado. I politely mentioned that this was not acceptable and I could receive a similar meal at a similar price from a high end resuarant and I expected better.. The manager mocked & said well go and find your meal from a Hi end restuarnet. Not only once but twice and x3 times and continually walking off in an arrogant & disissive manner. I dont think this is correct way to deal with regulars at a public house. The manager was arrogant, dismissive & rude without wishing to discuss simply becuase of his arrogant & dismissive nature. I hasten to add that the regular manager is totally polite and all the staff but thid particular manager is rude and arrogant. If a custmer does not approve of food the manager should not be rude, offensive and arrogant to any customer. That is simply the bottom line when running a public house. I rest my case.

Overpriced beers, good staff, and the wings were a bit dodgy. Good for sports and an okay Guinness, but wouldn't get food again

What a lovely pub. The staff were fantastic. The person on charge was so welcoming and happy serving his customers. Nothing was too much. Many sports tvs around the venue with a choice of what to watch. Many different areas yo sit, both inside and out. I would highly recommend. We went twice in one day. One on our way to Westfields for a drink, then again for food on the way back.

Myself and family came to the bell for a bottomless brunch, we were greeted and initially served by Jazz who is amazing. She has served us a few times before and never fails to impress. We later started to be served by Jazz and Darcey. Between the two girls they are both lovely and amazing servers. We never went a moment without a drink in our hands as they are very attentive. They make the experience a million times better every single time. Make sure you come here, not just for food and drink, but for the amazing staff !!!

Reservé una habitación en el Bell para una celebración de cumpleaños en julio y no puedo agradecer al personal lo suficiente. Dean era muy servicial en ayudar a seleccionar comida y bebida para una fiesta de 30 y se aseguró de que la habitación estaba todo preparado como estaba previsto. Hubo un par de cambios en el plan en la noche, pero nada era demasiado problema y todo el personal era sensible y flexible. La habitación (en la parte trasera) es muy espaciosa y también nos dieron un espacio protegido en el patio que era genial para los niños. He ido a la Campana para comer y beber con grupos pequeños, pero este evento tomó mucha más planificación y el personal lo hizo todo muy fácil. No hay cargo por la habitación, solo una expectativa de que usted compra bebidas y comida, que fueron todos geniales y muy disfrutado por mis huéspedes.

Avoid this place! Got scammed here on "Wing Wednesday." Advert says 40p per wing and specifies nothing further. Ordered a "standard portion" of wings (quantity not specified) for £8 through their app. Doing the math, I expected 20 wings. However, I was served 6 wings. Must be a mistake, right? Asked staff member Dean about this, and he was extremely rude to me, told me he didn't have time to "faff around" with this issue and dismissed me repeatedly. Refused to give me more wings, or refund the difference. That, my friends, is a scam. This was, apparently, due to a bug in the android version of their app, which did not include the Wing Wednesday special. Fine, but don't make me pay for your error! No respectable place of business should do this, so clearly the staff here are not trained properly.

Great pub in the heart of Walthamstow. Amazing atmosphere, lots of screens to watch the sport, wide range of drinks and wonderful hand shaken cocktails. Food was amazing, a full English for £7, can't go wrong.

Nada era demasiado problema y cada solicitud fue permitida. Montamos nuestra propia banda de música sin ningún alboroto. Taken over by new Ownership - The Bell is now a poorly run and managed Copy/Paste money-grab destination run by a Pub conglomerate. Food options are limited, and not one represents any sort of value for money. Just about every food option contains "Burnt Ends", and yet Brisket is not an option on the menu? It's not "Burnt Ends" is the obvious answer... They are taking the lowest quality bulk discount meat they can find, chopping it into small pieces and cooking it for ages to make it nominally edible, and adding it in to all their limited food options. It's foul. Beer prices are on the higher end of any of the Walthamstow pubs, and are an uninspired set of options locked in by the Corporate Conglomerate. Was in there the other day and was going to have a quick grab and go with the family, and the staff were shouting profanities at each other through the kitchen pass window, loud enough that it was clear through the entire pub. I initially thought the source was some clientele coming in.... But Nope. Definitely the young manager-ish lad shouting F-bombs and other obscenities clearly audible throughout the Pub. If you want to get better value, better service, much better food, and a closer experience to what the Bell used to be before the Corporate Copy/Paste takeover, I'd suggest hopping on the 123 towards the Wetlands, and popping into The Ferryboat Inn. Far better in my opinion. Update to owners response: Yes, I updated my original review, that dated back from 12 years ago. The pub was under different ownership / management when the.original review was written. Current ownership and staff are significantly different (for the worse). The decor was spruced up and cleaned up at the point of redesign, which is reflected in my review score... But unfortunately your staff's lackluster approach to cleanliness means it will degrade faster than would be expected, and the glossy tabletops make it abundantly clear how filthy the tables are... Update for anyone looking at the Bell as a destination: The reviews for this Pub are likely higher than should be expected, due to a much better management and staff being replaced in the last few years. The current corporate conglomerate ownership is benefitting from the historic scores of previous ownership.

If you like paying £7+ to drink a pint of Amstel in an atmosphere vacuum then The Bell is the pub for you!

The manager who had an England shirt on with ‘Daddy Dean’ written on it, just kissed at us and winked which we found inappropriate. We raised our concerns with him, and he got aggressive, took our drinks and asked us to leave.

Popped in for a drink at a good time as was empty had lunch which was tasty and had tried a tester very friendly and happy place

The most misogynistic overpriced pub in Walthamstow. To get served you must be Male! I stood at the bar for ages and watched whilst countless men got served before me. Even though I was clearly visible and waiting. When I made a comment about having to be a man to get served all the other women waiting agreed they had been waiting a lot longer than the males in this place. Won't be coming back. All round horrible experience.

Went to watch the football and they had screens everywhere. Had the salad with added chicken. Chicken was moist and the salad was a good size. I would definitely go again.

Nice pub, unbelievably bad food I challenge any pub in the UK to serve food as bad as this. Stonegate pubs took over this independently run pub about a year ago. The atmosphere and drinks are nice and the staff friendly BUT WOW THE FOOD IS SO BAD. Our 7 year old was served a sausage that had been cooked hours ago and reheated, I tasted it and it was totally inedible. Such a shame as Walthamstow families would come here much more if food was decent.

Very nice place, very nice and fast service. Screens in many places, lots of comfortable places to sit. Sofas, armchairs, chairs and stools are available.

The is our local pub and we recently held a 60th birthday party here. From the very 1st enquiry with Dean to the end of the actual party evening, the attentive service down to the finest detail was absolutely first class. Dean and Dave were amazing in helping to get all the equipment we needed (speakers and mikes), Rachel, Jazz and Kevin were fantastic in looking after all my guests and hats off to the chefs who produced the best pizza’s and chicken wings in the business. The party was such a success and a lot of my guests have said they will visit the pub more often. 1st class venue, 1st class staff and 1st atmosphere. We love our local pub!

Food was great.....fresh and tasty. Sunday roasts were on point as we're the other meals we ordered. Nice and clean with a good ambience.

Dean is absolutely amazing!! We loved him. The brunch was fabulous, wonderful food, lovely booze and such wicked value for the brunch. We cannot wait to come back again. 4 of us came out and we loved it so so much. Roll on next time. Dean is an asset to The Bell. This place is vibey. They have ber screens playing ber different sports so you can multitask and ting.
