Well cooked food, served by friendly staff and reasonably short wait for the food to arrive. Generous portions. Couldn't fault the overall experience.

Great little country bistro bar, dog friendly tempura cauliflower was delicious.

We popped in with our two dogs for Sunday lunch while visiting our daughter, absolutely fantastic food and service , will definitely be returning - thank you

Staff were very accommodating to my order to collect needs. The portions are generous and the food is delicious! Would definitely recommend the steak ciabatta!

This is a beautiful pub/ restaurant, the service we received today from Chris was amazing, we had never been before, but we will definitely be back with family and friends. The decor is stunning and very quirky which i loved, it's clean, no loud music playing above your head, which is so nice. The service was 10/10 , Chris was so lovely, even bringing my pudding out with happy birthday in white chocolate, which was totally unexpected 😲 The food was absolutely delicious, it was cooked to perfection, hot and looked very appetising, the flavours were so good. We can highly recommend and can not find fault with one single thing. Big shout out to the chefs who you never get too see, your doing a fantastic job behind the scenes and would loved to have said thank you personally. Keep up the amazing service , you have a great team at The Leather Bottle.

Firstly, our waitress (tall blonde lady, sorry I missed your name!) Was incredible and couldn't do more for us and made my nan's birthday, so so special. The food was so delicious! I would recommend eating here, and I would definitely return! A little thing, but the decor was so wonderfully quirky. I noticed dogs were welcome in the bar area as they provided water. Such a lovely warm and welcoming place.

Went here today, food was alright, but unfortunately no baby changing facilities so not ideal for a family meal out really, wouldn't recommend. We booked for a large family gathering and unfortunately we were positioned amongst the walk-way into the bar area so felt quite clostrophbic, I would suggest to the management to book larger tables in a less cramped area.

Such a lovely evening, Nicky was fabulous with helping organise my parents surprise anniversary meal with all of our family. Big tables are never easy in this industry esp when the bill comes but nothing was a problem and the staff were so accommodating with people being late and keeping their food lovely. Everyone was so helpful, so chuffed. Thanks again guys!

So stopped here at 1.20 after 8kg dog walk. Nice place and dog friendly but place was only half full, no menus and 20 wait BEFORE any order put in so although half empty useless for anything but a quick pint with dog

Beautiful pub/restaurant set in a lovely village. Food is highly recommended, good choice of beers on draft. Staff are both friendly, accommodating and welcoming. Definitely going back for a revisit

Pretty, traditional pub, with good atmosphere. We attended today for Sunday lunch & had the vegan cauliflower wings to start, which were delicious. We then had the vegan nut roast for main, which was okay, but the nut roast itself was a little disappointing. Would also benefit from more gravy.

Birthday celebration, 5 different meals all lovely.

Kelly provided excellent service to us and was able to offer advice on the menu and drinks when we asked.

Have been a few times as the food is excellent however yesterday we attended for a family birthday booked in advance for Good Friday which was fine and again food was fab but service let it down the person serving us made us feel we were in detention never a smile and felt bad for asking for anything really let the evening down and we asked for something off the lunch menu which ended at 6pm we sat down at 6pm and was told no ??? Also it was my sister’s birthday and they said they would decorate her plate with happy birthday this didn’t happen shame as we had lovely service before hope this review is acted upon and feedback

It was my first visit here, but it won't be my last. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and the restaurant was very comfortable with a really nice atmosphere. The food was very good too and very affordable. Highly recommended.

Came as a party of 16 for my sister’s surprise 60th birthday meal last night. Absolutely everything was spot on. Service, food, drinks…. Staff couldn’t have helped more to make our evening go as we wished. Well done to the team, very grateful :)

Excellent food, excellent service and very friendly even to out of town Northerners! Beef Teriyaki to die for, watch out it bites! Biscoff sundae a dream. If you’re in the area give it a try you won’t be disappointed. Suggest book at busy periods.

First time dinner, seriously impressed

Certain things off the menu taste mass produced and microwaved. Not the best prices for the quality. We ordered from the set menu but were billed different prices. Told different things by different waitresses. Response to reply - thanks for your rude response, we didn't have fish&chips x3.

I have recently moved to Ongar in Essex and my family came up to visit yesterday. I was searching for a pub that wouldn't mind us bringing our dogs since my sister wanted to bring her dog up with her.. We visited The Leather Bottle for lunch and my family was so impressed with the place. My Mum said it's the nicest pub lunch she has ever had. My sister who works in the food industry couldn't believe how fresh and lovely the food was. It was all delicious. Needless to say my family and I will definitely be coming back here for lunch/dinner again and again.

We were well impressed as first time visitors. The four of us had different meals and all spouted superlatives as to the quality. It was a hot day and we sat in the rear garden. The setting was very pleasing, as was the service, such that we shall definitely make a return.

Quirky, warm interior, friendly staff & a scrumptious Sunday roast! Turkey & beef were devoured, selection of veg separate.

We dined here as a 4 (and 1 doggo) on a Saturday evening. There was a great choice of starters and mains (probably too many to choose from as they all sounded amazing!). The food was brilliant (belly pork a firm favourite) as was the service. The dessert menu wasn’t as big and there wasn’t anything that took our fancy so we opted for a cocktail to finish which was lovely. Thanks team we will be back!

We booked The Leather Bottle very last minute to feed and water our company team of 40 plus members after attending an event at Nuclear Races. The food was very good, the staff very friendly and helpful and atmosphere relaxing and friendly, Lynn the pub owner welcomed us and made the final part of our day even better, thank you from Team Gallagher, we will be back, and I promise we'll give you more notice!

Had Sunday lunch here today with my wife and was greeted by a very friendly man that made you feel very welcome as soon as you walked in.The food was beautiful and very reasonably priced and the atmosphere was very nice too.All of the waitresses were very professional,smiley and made sure everything was all ok for you and they are a credit to the place.Would highly recommend.Thank you.

Excellent service and the food was good, if not special. Atmosphere was very pleasant, although I imagine it could be quite noisy if busy. I would like to make clear that I use 3 stars as being average, so consider The Leather Bottle above average on all counts, with a score of 86.7%

We went recently on a Saturday evening for the first time. A definite 5 star experience - good menu, good food, good atmosphere, good friendly service and reasonably priced. Far superior to any similar establishment in Ingatestone and somewhat better than those in Stock.

Had a lovely lunch there. I know I always go on about it, but I do have coeliac disease so it's important to me, they had a good choice of gluten free dishes. Also a good portion of freshly cooked vegetables - so often you don't get much. Service good and friendly too. No idea of cost, my brother paid ( made it even better 😂).

This was our 1st time here. It is a lovely place the food was good and the staff were great. I did think it was a little expensive for what we had, but I would still go back but I will be prepared for the price. Overall a nice a place good food and lovely staff which is what you want when you go out.

Went there for a St Francis quiz night. Food was tasty and not overpriced and service was impeccable. Very nice decor and very clean. So worth a visit! I had a pizza and whit chocolate and passion fruit cheesecake! Fish and chip option was lovely too!

What a wonderful time was had by all. Over twenty of us for Christmas dinner and it was delicious and for me, more important, it was hot. Plenty of it given with a service so professional and friendly. Not the cheapest but definitely worth the money. We shall be back.

Just had an early evening meal here. Food was amazing and the service fantastic. It was quite busy but lots of staff to make sure everything went smoothly. We will definitely go back again. Highly recommend

Sun 6th Nov. Today we had a family meal at The Leather Bottle. Staff very polite and friendly. We got seated while we waited for one extra to arrive Our drinks order was taken and we waited. The late arrival turned up, he got seated, a drinks order taken. That drink arrived immediately, while we still waited and waited. We did have 3 cocktails on that order, so maybe that was the delay? (We also heard of staffing issues due to the bad weather) We had a member in our group who is a vegan. He had Cauliflower bites to start with a ranch sauce. Ranch sauce was too strong and was an overpowering flavour. He then had the Nut roast. They offered him Cauliflower Cheese as a side. Why? This wasn't a vegan option. The nut roast came with a Yorkshire (not vegan) and Honey glazed parsnips (again this wasn't vegan) They were removed, and no real alternatives available The Nut roasts itself were far too sweet. So overall not a great Vegan meal. It makes you wonder if even the roast potatoes were actually Vegan friendly? It also makes you think, if someone had allergies and if these items had been on the plate and just removed, then the whole plate could have been contaminated? The other meals we had were nice, rhe venue is pleasant and the staff nice. Like many pubs / restaurants, they just haven't got a clue / grip on the vegan requirements and the food options / offerings are poor.

I recently had Sunday lunch here with my 4 year old. Friendly service, no long wait times for ordering, or food and drink being served. The Sunday roast was delicious, and was served with a big portion of veg. Also the best yorkshire pud I've had in a long time! Children's portion was really good for a 4 year old.

If you haven’t tried the leather bottle yet, you really should. Their roast dinner is hands down the best I have ever had in a pub. What makes the place so special is the staff, everyone of them are helpful, pleasant and make your dining experience second to none

Really dog friendly and have lovely staff. Unfortunately out of ribs when I went, the pork belly could have been a little better and the dirty fries were mostly just cheesy, but the atmosphere was lovely and the pasta and steak were good.

Disabled parking unavailable, or not obviously marked out. Limited parking around the site. A nicely decorated pub with a limited but decent tasting menu. The desert trumped the main in the terms of taste. Unfortunately the service was middling, with a delay to taking our order and forgetting to bring the ordered drinks to the table once they had been prepared at the bar.

One of the best breakfasts I've had in a longtime, lots of choice excellent value.

I had the vegan roast (but currently not vegan) and it was hands down the best I’ve hand in a long time. The flavours were so so good! Highly recommend it and the beef roast and for dessert the Eaton mess was a winner too. The decor too has so much character, family friendly too!

Whilst the decor was beautiful and both food and drink pleasing, it's hard to consider you a family establishment when there are no facilities for baby changing... Room for improvement, please give this real consideration to move forward for the better. Excellent value for money.

Had Sunday lunch here, what a great place to eat. Excellent Sunday dinner, good size portion and great choice of beers. On another note I booked this table for 5.45pm do you know how hard it is to get a table at this sort of time, most places stop serving food at around 3pm I will be eating here again very soon.

Terrific venue for dining and relaxation. Food portions have been on the large side in particular the fish. Good service from friendly and proficient staff. Will certainly go to this place again and again.

Busy and popular pub in the middle of Blackmore. Lots of people eating and drinking, but plenty of space at the bar. The beer was good and the service quick, despite how busy it was. Nice old building with all the character you could want. They have kept it bright and welcoming inside. Luckily we were in the village already so did not need to park. Parking is a nightmare, with people inconsiderately filling the residential streets and making the junction almost impassable.

Omg I love this place, service was amazing, staff are lovely and friendly, they have time for you. Decor and atmosphere were classy and inviting. Food was amazing, we had the focaccia to start to share, then I had the Jerk Chicken burger and my wife the Moroccan veg tagine, all the food was out of this world and Adnams Ghost Ship beer as well. It doesn't get much better than this. 100% go to this place you won't be disappointed.

Sunday Roast here is pretty hard to improve upon. Friendly staff and great pub all round.

We arrived in the hope that we could a table for lunch and was seated quite quickly, although busy the staff were very attentive and friendly. The food was slightly more expensive than expected but was well worth it, which unfortunately lead me to getting a dessert as well - bang goes the diet!!😂 Will be back......

Great indoor decor and ambience. Nice layout with space between tables and staff wearing masks (this is posted during Omicron). Friendly staff and clean/polished look about the place. We had the Sunday roast (beef and lamb) and the haddock. Good portions and tasty food, though the rectangular plates were a little awkward (and limited the amount of food on the plate!)

Amazing... if I could give more then 5* then I would.... service was amazing, the food was perfection, I would highly recommend this place.

Only there for the beer. The beer is excellent and very reasonably priced.
