Best ever onion soup, Sunday roast lamb was lovely, no complaints here!! And we do complain…..it’s rare to find a pub which really knows how to cook a good roast…..definitely worth a visit….

The Lazy Trout looks so inviting from the outside and the inside didn't disappoint. Lovely warm atmosphere as soon as you walk in. Busy, so you definitely need to book. Super food at a good price. The venison, grey mullet and haddock went down an absolute treat with the 5 of us, puddings were scrummy too.

Special Birthday meal. Food is excellent and the portions generous. Serving staff are all young, very efficient and courteous. Thoroughly recommend a visit. Will certainly be back for more.

Food was nice however Staff need training in customer service after my partner was insulted by a member of staff. Be aware that this pub apparently doesn't take cash and if you try to pay cash you will be insulted and told you need your eyes testing

On holiday in the area. Needed to find a dog friendly pub that served food all day and it ticked the boxes. Excellent food and service. We enjoyed it so much we went again!

Good food and service at reasonable Prices. Searched trip advisor and whilst lots of good reviews there were a few low star reviews. Decided it was the best option close to Leek and was pleasantly surprised. Car park had some decent sized spaces at 1-35. Service quick and friendly. Food very good and reasonable value

We had a lovely evening at the Lazy Trout, as always! The staff were friendly and attentive and we always love the relaxed atmosphere. It was a busy Friday night but our food arrived quickly and there was always a staff member around to see if we needed more drinks etc. We both ordered the KFC burgers-amazing!! Big portions and delicious food. We love coming here and will continue to come back-can’t fault it 😊

This is a first class country pub offering an excellent range of beers, a nice menu with classic pub fare, a warm welcome and a lively buzzing lunch time atmosphere. We were a (mature) family group of five who enjoyed an excellent wholesome lunch with friendly helpful service and great food. We shared a couple of starters to get the meal underway having been advised by one of our party who had visited before that the main course meals would be substantial (unlike many modern restaurants) and sure enough they were! I had an absolutely delicious home made steak and ale pie, others had for example superb fish and chips, and I had an exquisite rhubarb crumble with custard for pudding. All examples of typical ‘pub grub’ but all of tip-top quality. A thoroughly enjoyable meal and experience was enjoyed by all! We shall return!

Booked a table the day before as we were going walking in the area. The Sunday roasts coming through looked great but we chose the large Fish & Chips and it was LARGE!!! Delicious fresh, flakey haddock, the best I have tasted in a long time !! And very reasonable price. Staff very polite and helpful. Fabulous place... We will be returning soon. 👍👏

Been the trout many times food is always good good sized portions my only moan is the starters don’t seem to change ,so we opted for main course and sweets as we didn’t fancy any of the starters as I had had the pate numerous times and pea and mint soup didn’t appeal

We were a Family of 5 adults and a Baby and went for a meal on Friday Night. The pub was extremely busy but we sat outside where the pub had reserved us a table with overhead heaters under the wooden gazebo. It was perfect !! The service, food and price was all excellent. It’s the second time we have eaten here and will definitely be going again. Booking for a 40th Birthday in June next

We visited for a family birthday this week. Booking on line was really easy. The staff were very friendly and very efficient. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The food was tasty and portion sizes just right. The quality of food and drinks lived up to expectations. We will be visiting again.

Visited hear after a walk around tittesworth reservoir for Sunday lunch. Lamb dinner was excellent and the sticky toffee pudding with custard was delicious. Well worth a visit staff a very welcoming.

We have been coming here for many a year for a reason. Today we were here for Sunday dinner with the family and grandchildren, and we were pleasantly greeted and shown to our table, good that dogs have a seperate area. Good selection of food on the menu, also beer spirits and wine. Food was hot and tasty particularly the chips. and good portions, the cod dinner was excellent, as were the roasts lasagne and childrens meals. The junior beef roast was nearly as big as the adults, and she loved it,all served in good time. Also the desserts well made and tasty. The waiter/waitress checked that everything was to our satisfaction at all servings. It's hard to recommend any particular dish as we like them all. Nice friendly atmosphere, games for the children, big area out back, lovely views, fire in the winter. What more can you ask! You would be hard pressed to get better in a top restaurant.

Visited as a couple on Friday lunchtime/afternoon for few beers and lunch. Didn’t book but managed to get a table. Never been before and walked there from the three horseshoes pub where we were staying for 2 nights. Really nice pub, service with a smile and had the seafood sharing platter and portion of chips. Great service We were a party of 17 and all food came out together and the wait time was good. Food was lovely. Only criticism Is the vegetables were overcooked and tasted of water but the pie and chips were so tasty it made up for it.

Dinner for five on a busy Friday night - absolutely superb food and service, wide menu catering well for dietary requirements, well kept local ale. What's not to love? If you're in the area you'd be mad not to go, but book early!
