We hadn't been here for quite a few years but decided to pop in this afternoon for a late lunch snack. We received a cheerful welcome and offered a choice of seating. My wife chose a portion of chips and an apple juice and I had a slice of carrot cake ( very generous portion) and a latte. The service was good and food was nice. Also worth mentioning that the prices are very reasonable too! We would definitely dine here again.

We found the Cafe by chance, visiting the Lower Barn Farm Tile Centre. What got our attention was how busy it was at 10:45am so we decided it must be good if it was this popular. We got one of the last tables at 11:45am and at that time we could order from either the Breakfast or Lunch menus. We opted for two breakfasts - I had the Farmhouse £14.95 and my wife had the smaller option at £11.50. I had a very full plate of 2 sausage, 2 bacon, 2 egg, 2 hash browns, 4 toast and baked beans. I was full for hours afterwards. Only disappointment was the basic white bread for toast when everything else was such good quality. A sparkling water and a pot of tea gave a total of £31.90 for brunch. We noted the evening theme evenings on offer. If the food and entertainment are as good as the breakfast then they are sitting on a gold mine.

I visited The Laughing Pear for lunch with my daughter and young granddaughter last week. It was our first visit. We both had toasted sandwiches, which were huge and delicious. My granddaughter had the children's sausage, chips and beans. Again, a large portion, which looked very nice. She's only 17 months, so couldn't tell us what she thought of it, but going by the amount she ate, I think it's safe to say she really enjoyed it. The staff were very friendly. We went as it was my birthday, but we won't wait for a reason to go back.

Husband and I have been here many times before during the day for breakfast or lunch, and always had a great meal. The food is always great, but it is often quite noisy when it’s busy. However, last night was an evening event for Valentine’s Day. The place had been transformed! No longer a busy cafe with lots of chatter, hustle and bustle - but an intimate, softly lit setting for a romantic meal. We had preordered the food, which all arrived at just the right pace and was of excellent quality. Couldn’t fault it and will certainly be keeping en eye out for the next event.

Laughing Pear catering provided a great buffet for my mums funeral. It was very easy to order, the food was delicious and came at the required time. Everyone commented on quality and everyone wanted more of the sausage rolls. On a practical point the food was boxed and the boxes fit perfectly in the fridge.

Thoroughly recommend this cafe. Staff lovely, food great. Really big menu and great to see bubble and squeak on it - had poached eggs (perfectly cooked), gluten free sausages and bubble and it delicious. Doorstep sandwiches were literally doorsteps - could have built something out of them, they looked huge! Well done team, a great visit and well worth the money.

Met with a friend for breakfast and we were lucky to get a table. The venue is very popular and was extremely busy when we arrived early morning. The staff are friendly and professional, the food is delicious and generous portion sizes. Because of the nature of the building and the amount of customers, it was very noisy and at times we could barely continue our conversation. Despite being busy we weren't rushed to finish our meals. I'd definitely visit again but will try and find a less busy time.

After shopping at Sainsbury's Rayleigh Weir, we like to pop in for brekkie. Good selection to choose from. Always quick service albeit without being pressurised. Polite and helpful staff. Always worth the little detour on the way home.

This was our second visit to the laughing pear. Firstly we were seated side on to the counter and after our drinks order was taken they handed them to us over the counter rather than bringing them to our table. The second was the bill. I had a full English breakfast and my daughter the pancake breakfast which came with syrup. When the food was served my daughter asked for more syrup as there was not enough, a small jug (approx 30mls) for 3 very large pancakes. An additional syrup was brought. There was no mention this would be at an extra charge. When the bill came the additional syrup was charged at £2.50. Which I feel is too much for a condiment that was for a breakfast including it, it brought the pancakes meal to £16.49. However, had I been prewarned the cost of the syrup I would have at least been given the option to either go without or pay the cost. For this reason I will not be returning, I understand additional syrup may not be free, however a small charge would be more than enough to cover the cost, but at £2.50 it goes far beyond being reasonable. for perspective a 700ml bottle in Tesco is £2.40. I'd even understand it if had been requested for food not being served with syrup but in my opinion it is the same for charging for extra ketchup, or extra milk.

Visited with my work colleague, her first time. I have been before but a long time ago. Parking onsite, just be careful of the lorries coming in & out of the yard, they aren’t exactly careful of people crossing into the restaurant & come at some speed. We had to wait for a table, always a good sign! Sat down, table with a little sticky, it had been cleaned though, was obviously from the cleaning fluid. Staff extremely polite & attentive. My colleague had a burger & I had a chicken wrap, both very nice. My main criticism is the noise, when it’s busy/full it’s impossible to hear people, my colleague & I struggled to have a decent conversation. It was a relief to get outside & to be honest gave me a bit of a headache, if nice sit outside so you aren’t battling with hearing people. I don’t remember this issue before so it must be when it’s particularly busy/full.

On our second visit we were pleasantly surprised that the soup was wonderful. When we visited a year ago, the soup was far to spicy which is why we didn't return for a year.

We pop in here every month for Breakfast/Brunch. Their food is fantastic and the sandwiches are the best we have ever had. The Staff are happy and welcoming and it's just a wonderful place to while the time away.
